They have "Chungking Express" what else can say? I mean, really, who's ever heard of this movie????

It's disorganized and definitely feels like a hole in the wall, but it's a real gem. That rarest of things in this day and age- a great video store. They've got a huge selection of movies both old and new, obscure and popular. You can spend hours browsing here and I've walked out on most occasions with an armful of movies. The owner (and his wife and their long-time employee) are incredibly sweet and open to suggestions of movies to purchase for their rental store. The rental costs are reasonable. Viva Videoscope!

Videoscope has latest movies, "old movies" and hard to find classics, foreign films.. No need to spend hours looking for a movie- although hunting for treasures can be a lot of fun. Just look up on the wall at the list of movies, ask for the movie, and you'll be out the door with your movie in minutes.
Easy parking--- Located on El Camino between Rengstorff and
San Antonio. -

Yelp scores again! After reading the other reviews, I decided to give this place a go. Mind you, it's been years since I visited a truly independent local video store (Blockbuster's doesn't count). I am a pretty avid fan of Netflix.
I asked the owner if he had an older film called "Salesmen"--I have never been able to find it for rent at Netflix or anywhere else, so I figured, what the heck.
Well....they had it!! I was pleasantly surprised, and I will rent here in the future, especially when I need a tough-to-find title.
There is an EXCELLENT sci-fi and horror section here, as well as many foreign DVD's. I noticed many classic DVD's here as well, from the Criterion Collection, which is one of the best. Thank you to the other reviewers. -

Who needs netflix when you have a gem like this place in your own backyard? This place has a HUGE selection of DVDs, videos and even laser discs! They have cult films, horror films and even have a Criterion section! I am never let down by this place. The owner is nice and helpful. I highly recommend a visit to this place, you will be hooked.

I like renting movies on impulse. That's hard these days because Redbox only carries recently released new movies and I don't want to get a Netflix subscription.
I found this place and love it! They have a HUGE selection of movies. Many movies are now out-of-print so even Netflix won't have them available. Not the issue here. Any movie I can think of, Videoscope has.
I very much enjoy this place. Seriously, this place is pretty much the best for anything movie related. If you're a big fan of movies, new and old, this place is the spot. -

I remember when this place had Laserdiscs and they were on the corner of El Camino and San Antonio. They definitely have an ecclectic collection of movies, cult, B, strange stuff. Probably lots of stuff that I wouldn't normally go for but they definitely have their niche carved out.

Awesome place- they have the movies Blockbuster won't. One of only two places on the peninsula for true movie buffs! They have a crazy "cult film" collection as well, and they support local filmmakers, with some films here you can't find anywhere else.

I agree with Jeff, this place is a diamond in the rough, one of the last real independent video stores- they have movies from all different countries (foreign films are organized by country), genres (eeeverything you can imagine and some stuff you can't, documentaries, cult etc.), directors, eras (I still regret not renting a silent film epic recommended by the owner- one of the first movies ever made I think). My boyfriend and I have spent hours in here searching for and discovering all sorts of crazy stuff and developing a love of film. The owners are really sweet- their store and their collection is their passion. The Bay Area can't afford to lose this reservoir of culture and art.....if blockbuster and netflix and their commercial interests win out, it will be a damn shame for all.

Videoscope is one of the few independent video stores that hasn't closed. They've always had a great selection that included items that were difficult to find, though that collection has shrunk since they had to move to a smaller space. I originally went there many years ago because of their extensive laserdisc selection.

Probably the best video store I've found in the South Bay, which is pretty sad. The selection is slightly above average. And by that I mean they have a lot of movies not yet released on DVD. If it's out on DVD and you're going to a video store instead of Netflix you're either a.) uninformed; b.) pretentious; or c.) a fan of getting ripped off. But back to Videoscope. You will not be able to find anything you're looking for without a clerk's help. The display videos (they, mercifully, keep the actual videotapes behind the counter) are all stacked on top of each other and organized by some system vaguely resembling alphabetical order. Some of the sections are labelled (eg. DRAMA, COMEDY, etc.), some are not. I guess they forgot?? Thankfully, every clerk that's waited on me has been pleasant and helpful. The price is a bit high here too, but if you live in the South Bay and are having trouble finding a movie, this is one place you should definitely seek out.

This video store is one of the best I've been to. They have everything, it seems. I mean, I'll just walk to the front desk and ask for some obscure video, and they'll have it. They even have laserdisks, for those of you who bought that technology prior to DVD players. The only down side is that their shelves aren't incredibly well organized. It can be somewhat frustrating just browsing, but their huge selection makes up for it.

Even if you like mainstream movies (as I do), and just prefer independent businesses, this is a great store. Be warned, the DVDs are not...terribly well organized. It doesn't hurt the browsing experience, and it adds to the store's charm in my opinion, but it also makes someone like me want to take them all down and sort them all alphabetically. However, if you know exactly what you want you don't have to hunt for the box - just go straight to the counter for the disc! That, plus the perpetual lack of a line, makes this a very fast and convenient renting experience if you want it to be, and a welcome change from Blockbuster. I'm a Netflix subscriber, but sometimes I just need a movie now, and this is where I go. And as other reviewers have said, if you like obscure or foreign language films, this place actually has some.
