Category: Videos and Video Game Rental [Edit]
Neighborhood: Brooklyn/Williamsburg - South SideGreat selection.
Well organized.
I always rifle through the fliers on the window sill, as do other folks.
I also love that there is a conveniently located wine shoppe across the street with great domestic pinot noir.
The convenience of it all makes movie night one of my favorite nights.

If you like dopey, brain wasting movies. Videology has that. If you like mind stimulating cinema, Videology has that too! In abundance.
What a great selection of loads of things you might not ever see in other place. Whoever picks out the movies here really has their stuff together.
you know how you go into certain movie places and you just whine to yourself about how you can't find anything to watch? If you can't find a movie to watch at Videology, I really have to question what is wrong with you. Between the masses-are-asses widely distributed flicks and the well organized international and documentary sections, there really is no excuse for you to walk out of here without something.
Oh yeah. Another plus. The staff. Great people. They get it. You all are my friends. The first round is on me.
You can buy in bulk by paying up front like $80 to get an extra $20 credit. Options to rent for 1, 2, or 5 days at different rates, and if you return the movie early, you get credit back. (So, if you rented for 5 days but returned in 2, you pay only for 2.) It's a good option to avoid excessive late fees. The selection is awesome. So far haven't not been able to get a movie I wanted, new or old, though maybe that's luck. Open noon to midnight.
I really like Videology. It's near my house and has pretty late hours (open til midnight I think but double check that) so who needs Netflicks. They have a good selection of documentaires and foreign films in particular. I like the layout of the shop, it's very clean and open. My only complaint is that the movies are arranged in alphabetical order instead of by director which for me would be easier. They do have a computer to look up films in stock so I guess I could look up the director's I'm interested in to see what films are on the shelves.

I'd given up on the video store experience until I met Videology. They have "Profit: The Complete Series" and a nice selection of the French films I like. It's cheap, and if you rent for two days and return it in one, you get a credit.
The staff has a little of the "I work in a video store because I know everything there is to know about movies, which you do not" vibe, but it's under control.
Plus it's clean.

I love that they give you the option of paying for rentals up front at a discounted rate. Its an excellent way to subsidize late fees - 80 bucks gets you 100 dollars in rental credit which can also be used to pay late fees. The rental rates are already extremely reasonable - 3 dollars per night for new releases or 5 dollars for two nights. They have an amazing selection, are well organized and in the new annex have expanded their foreign film section considerably. They are open until midnight nightly.
I gotta give Videology three stars for its awesome selection, fair prices and for the very sweet guy who works the counter on Sunday afternoons, but otherwise...
The staff tends to be very rude, curt and with no personality. It's called smiling people. Won't kill ya'. Videology feels like you entered the record shop in High Fidelity - all pretension. It's a shame, since I really do appreciate the quality of their film selection (they even have hard to find foreign flicks like, the French Les Bonnes Femmes), but truly, I refuse to go in there ever again.
Oh pardon, there's one young lady who's very cool too, but watch out for what appears to be the owners - stuck up and not very nice at all.

Decent selection, great rental rates, and I've always had above-average interactions with the staff (the other night they put on Pennies from Heaven so a customer who didn't want to actually rent the DVD could watch the Christopher Walken strip-tease scene...which is also recommended).
