I regret what I am about to say. However, my desire to speak what is true and good outweighs my loyalties and I accept the repercussions.
Vicious dogs' CHICAGO DOG is better than any Chicago dog I ever had in Chicago.
Better than Wiener Circle. Better than Hot Doug's. Better than Portillo's.
Needless to say, you need not ever go to Pinks again. -
Review from Ari M.
Vicious Dogs is consistently fantastic! Great service and several amazing dogs! Today, the always friendly owner suggested I try his latest creation, The Good Saint. It's a charbroiled andouille sausage with grilled onions, tomatoes and three kinds of peppers, topped with garlic salt and shredded cheese and then baked and served. Can a restaurant have two signature items? Because this dog deserves a place next to Vicious Dogs' Sweet and Spicy kielbasa.
I have introduced Vicious Dogs to several friends and family members and they have unanimously loved the place. I can't think of a business more worthy of a 5 star rating.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I'm a true hot dog connoisseur. My creds: I hate Pinks. It's terribly overrated and not my idea of anything close to a great hot dog.
Vicious Dogs was stop #2 (of 3) of my personal "Best of the Valley Wiener Invitational." The contenders that day were Vicious Dogs, Otis Jackson's Soul Dog & Bubbies East Coast Dogs. My criteria for an awesome dog are: (1) The Vessel. The bread is my very first impression (i.e. did the dog purveyor care enough about the dog, to make the bun special?). (2) The Wiener. This all comes down to flavor and snap for me. Finally, (3) Standalone Quality. It's great if a dog tastes yummy when it's all gussied up with condiments, relish, etc., but does the dog have what it takes to be spectacular on its own with nothing?
Vicious Dogs met all of this and more!! We were warmly greeted by the owner who threw his best at me, the #2 - Sweet & Spicy Kielbasa. "This is the dog my business was built on," he said. I was hesitant at first because I'm not a fan of the sweet & spicy flavor combo. I'm an even lesser fan of anything but ketchup and a swab of mayo on my hot dog. But he had me at spicy and I was more than a bit curious to try this dog of legend.
Wiener: Smokey, just spicy enough and with an absence of conspicuous fat nodules--hate those. Snap quality was incredible and I knew it from the very first bite. It was also sufficiently girthy. There's nothing I dislike more than a poor hot dog to bun ratio. This was perfect. Bun: Delicious, warm, squishy yet toasty and bedazzled with poppy seeds. Though initially apprehensive about the sweet relish, I was gobsmacked by how it perfectly enhanced the flavor of the kielbasa. It was absolute perfection.
It was so fabulous that I completely ignored the seasoned fries and wings that my beloved ordered. But I hear, they were pretty good too. Vicious Dogs got me so entranced by that #2 that I will be back ASAP try the #1 Chicago Dog, anything with Louisiana Hot Links and the Asada Dog. Also, big kudos for the friendly service and nod-to-the-80's decor!Listed in: Superstar Dishes! LA Edition!, Hot Dog Enthusiast

I went here just yesterday...
AMAZING!
Yesterday my boyfriend and I were hungry and he asked me if I was in for hot dogs. I personally don't like Pink's, so I told him I was as long as he wasn't taking me to Pink's. He told me "Vicious dogs" I didn't have a clue what that was so I just agreed.
When I walked in the place, I frankly didn't think it would be as good, but I was impressed. The place is a small little place with some art hanging on the walls. The owner was there, he was very friendly and talked to all customers like he was friends with them. Just a few workers, not a lot, but they were fast with the orders.
Service was good. I mean basically you go up to the register, order, take a seat, and they serve you. So not a lot of service involved there.
My boyfriend had tried two different hot dogs there before and he recommended me both of them. I went by ordering the "Spicy Papi". He ordered the Spicy Papi and also the Jalapeño popper one(forgot the exact name for it). We also got an order of garlic fries with feta cheese. BOMB!!
The Spicy papi has jalapeño pieces inside the sausage, chipotle sauce, and grilled onions on top. SPICY! just all around amazing
The Jalapeño popper one came with jalapeño poppers at the bottom of the sausage, chipotle sauce, and grilled bell peppers and onions on top. YUMM!!
I came out so happy, I will definitely come back !! -

This place is friggin' awesome! As soon as you walk in you're greeted by the friendly owner who tells you about the latest things on the menu. The menu has so many dogs to pick from and the vegetarian menu does not disappoint at all (yay!). I always order the veggie dog with onions, bell pepper, and bits of fries on top. Delicious. This place is great for any hot dog lover, and if you're vegetarian, don't fear, Vicious Dogs will satisfy your appetite.

Let me first start by saying that every time i come here, the owner is in there working with his staff. He greets every customer who comes in with open arms and will recommend new items every single time!
The ambiance there is great! It doesnt feel like LA! You feel like you're in chicago.
The main cook is a pretty bad ass young chick who loves to cook and is a great artist!
You will find her art all over the place. All of it is old nintendo art and is for sale and is pretty awesome!
If you haven't been here before, this place aside from having the best dogs around, has THE BEST and i mean THE BESSSSSSSSSSSSSSST garlic fries that i have ever had in my entire life! They use FRESH garlic and they pack it on the fries like no tomorrow.
If you love garlic fries and dogs this is the place to go!
My last visit i had a pastrami dog and garlic fries, AMAZING COMBO!!!!!!

Really delicious. Prices are fair as well.
Had the cheezy wheezy which consists of mozarella sticks under the dog in the bun, topped with nacho cheese, ranch, bbq sauce, and chopped onion rings. -

I think these guys are way better than pinks!!!
PROS:
They are as creative as pinks but better. They will do what ever you want, have a larger selection of meat and are wayyyyyyyyyyyy more personable!
Every time I call them on the phone to order they are as nice as can be and usually remember me. I don't know if its the owner or the manager but he couldn't be annnnnnny nicer. We are a bunch of idiots, "like some one should slap us" bad! They are always so patient and charming in return! Yes, charming.
CONS: mmmmmmm, thinking...... still thinking. -

Are you F'in Kidding me? This place had an unbelievably tasty dog. I had a NY Dog which was I believe a sausage, ranch dressing, poppy seed bun, cheese and veggies. So good.
I also had some Mozzarella sticks which were pretty decent. Nothing that knocked my socks off, but not disappointing.
I like the art exhibited on the walls, getting some fricken culture with my subsistence. Yay America!
I can't wait to pig out at Vicious Dogs again in the near future.
Update: Went back. Had chili cheese fries and a dog with nacho cheese and pico. The dog was tasty, not a huge fan of the pico, so I won't order that next time.
The chili cheese fries were great. Highly recommend. The chili was great, spiced just right to get great flavor. They put a high quality cheese on, which was melted just perfectly. The fries were fine, but when chili, cheese and fries fuse together they make tasty and these were extremely tasty. -

Came here after I saw the commercial on Rhett & Link's Commercial King.
One word... WOW!
I don't quite remember the name of the hot dog I ordered but it was baked with Southwestern flavors. The hot dog came fresh out of the oven and onto my plate. Every single bite was heavenly. Not too much toppings to overpower the dog and not too little either. Just the perfect amount.
Next time I'm in the LA area, I will definitely try to stop here for breakfast, lunch or dinner or all of the above! -
Review from Steve R.
I'm a big fan of Vicious Dogs. The owner is the driving force behind the business, greeting every customer with a friendly hello and God Bless. I like him, I like his sincerity, and I like his enthusiasm for his menu.
Although he's always inventing a new dog, sometimes they're hit and miss. But the tried and true basics of his menu are outstanding. The Chicago Dog is tasty and beautifully presented. The best Chicago dog in town. The slaw dog (chili and cole slaw) has sweet slaw and tangy chili. It is great. The dogs and sausages are high quality, and the buns are fresh and paired perfectly with the dog you've ordered.
For hot dogs, this is a five star restaurant. God bless and have a great journey. -

Came here before Thanksgiving so this is based on the Thanksgiving turkey dog I had that came with stuffing and cranberry sauce. Turkey dogs actually have more taste than you might think. Gotta come back and try some of their other options

"Wow" is the word that the owner used when we asked him about the garlic fries with the added feta cheese. My husband and I shared them and the entire rest of the afternoon we had horrific garlic mouths. The flavor was really good initially though. We both LOVE garlic but this was almost overkill.
I had the sweet and spicy kielbasa which was good and recommended. I liked the fresh peppers and onions that topped it. I'd probably go simpler next time because that's how I like my dogs but there was nothing wrong with this one!
Hubs had the cheezy weezy and really enjoyed it. That thing looks like a heart attack on a plate. The owner was very honest and said it was his least healthy dog on the menu. How could it be healthy with melted cheese, BBQ sauce, ranch, bacon (I think) all on top of a dog that is sitting atop 2 fried cheese sticks? Definitely a man's hot dog.
I loved the NoHo area that the restaurant is in...very artsy and some cool little places up and down the surrounding area. -

The gf used to live a few blocks away and am not sure why we never stopped by to try. Can't miss Vicious Dogs because they have a very distinctive sign in front http://www.yelp.com/bi... (borrowed from Roman T). Was in the area after having my eyes checked at El Portal Optometry and decided to give it a try. They have a pretty extensive menu but decided to try one of their specialty dogs, the Philly cheesesteak dog http://www.yelp.com/bi.... The dog was grilled and had a nice crunch to it (yes it sounds weird but believe me it was good). Surprisingly the cheeseteak on top of the already delicious dog was not greasy and was perfectly seasoned. Also ordered their garlic fries http://www.yelp.com/bi... which were awesome. Tons of garlic spread throughout the fries and believe me your significant other wouldn't want to kiss you after eating these fries.
Glad I finally had the opportunity to try this place and will be back to try their other specialty dogs. -

Came here today after a long dry spell and ordered an italian dog with cheese and all i gotta say is WOW it was sex in my mouth just so delicious. The place is very small and can get packed quickly, staff is very friendly never pushy or do they try to up sell you. Also tried the buffalo hot wings and chili cheese fries everything here is so great the flavor and freshness in which the food is made is awesome. Parking is minimal but you can park a block away where the panda express and panera bread is at and walk across the street. Its worth it, trust me this place is really good. CAUTION: food is not cheap here so dont expect to get alot for a few bucks, go to weinershnitzle if you want bang for your buck. If you want great QUALITY food come here you wont be disappointed. All beef vienna dog is huge dont get more than 2

When I got back to work after checking out Vicious Dogs, I IMed my boyfriend with "omg you have to go to vicious dogs. no line, super good, cheap, creative, AND theres like an iam8bit style art gallery inside"
That pretty much sums it up. Absolutely loved the art. Staff was super friendly. I had the Mediterranean dog, and my friends had the chili, bacon wrap, and sweet and spicy dogs. Good responses all around. -

Last weekend my wife and I stopped here for lunch. To be honest this was not our first choice. I orginally wanted to check out Pink's but when I saw the line I said "There has to be another hot dog spot" So I went to yelp and I found Vicious Dogs.
This was actually one of my favorite spot during my stay in LA. For such a basic thing Vicious Dogs a def a MUST HAVE will you in the Hollywood/LA area. This is not your tyipical hot dog joint, Vicious Dogs has alot of creative hot dogs on the menu... Though I did not try one of their creative dogs I chose a traditional American Dog with an order of cheese fries.... My hot dog had sauerkraut onions and spicy mustard.... the bun was perfectly steam and the dog was perfectly grilled. French Fries were on point but the kicker is that THIS PLACE HAD WHIZ lol being from Philly I love my fries with the WHIZ! The customer service was great, very welcoming. This place will be first on my list to check out when I come back to LA. -

My favorite hot dog's ever.
The Chicago Dog from this place is on point.

Love it. Love it, love it, love it, love it.
This place is amazing. Awesome selection. No matter what kind of foods you like, chances are you will find something that sounds perfectly catered to your personal tastes. The menu items are unique and creative and spectacularly delicious.
As AMAZING as the food is, the owner Willie still makes up 60% of the dining experience. His enthusiasm, helpfulness and overall friendliness make Vicious Dogs a FUN place to visit. You can't help but get excited when Willie is describing his latest creation.
Here is a running list of the dogs I've had here so far...
Sweet & Spicy Kielbasa - Amazing. Willie founded his shop on this dog. Not too spicy, but packed full of delish.
Spicy Papi - Spectacular. A bacon-wrapped jalapeño cheddar sausage with grilled onions and chipotle sauce. What else can I say?
Doggie Wraps - Seemingly simple, but surprisingly robust in flavor and life.
Pastrami Dog - Doesn't look like the picture. It actually looks BETTER than the picture. And tastes even better than it looks, which is a feat in itself.
I Love New York Dog - So good. I usually get to eat half of my girlfriend's food when we eat out, but I only got one bite of this baby. I'll have to order a full one for myself next time.
Spicy Patrick - Awesome. A dog loaded up with beef and melted cheese. Can't go wrong there.
L.A. Street Dog - Great. I'm not a huge fan of ketchup, but I still really enjoyed this L.A. classic.
Chicken Apple Mediterranean - Refreshing! Willie says this is the most refreshing dog he's ever had. I have never had a dog quite like this one. Good, but not my favorite.
Hot Chick - Delicious. A bacon wrapped dog with buffalo chicken and melted cheese.
Volcano Dog - SERIOUSLY spicy. I am usually skeptical when restaurants claim an item is spicy, but this dog is definitely hot. More peppers than I can name are loaded into the sauce topping this dog.
Chili Dog - Simple. Not amazing but still quite good if a simple chili dog is your thing.
Cheesy Weezy - Amazing. One of the less cheap items, but absolutely delicious. Healthy too (not really...)! -

Great local business, super-friendly staff. They have lots of options, very good dogs - great options for either people who like to be adventurous or people who just want a regular hot dog. Great spot - give it a try...I recommend the Spicy Patrick.

I had the Slaw Dog and it was good, nice chili under it. Nice flavor combinations. Good Chili Fries, excellent customer service, really friendly people working here. My man ordered the Sweet and Spicy Kielbasa and I tried it and it was really good but I loved my slaw dog flavor combination better, my only thing is I would prefer it on a polish sausage for a meatier taste than on a regular hot dog. They have a huge variety to choose from and I'm definitely coming back to try that Patrick Dog and Pastrami dog, both look yummy.
Love the place but I still think Carney's Red Barron Polish dog is my favorite craving for a hot dog. -

Los Angeles, CA
Ive been trying to find a really good Hot Dog in LA! Have I found it yet....well no.
Vicious Dogs was on my list of Hot Dog places to check out to see if they can satisfy my craving.
Let me just say that I would definitely get a hot dog here at Vicious Dogs before I EVER go back to that DISGUSTING place called Pinks.
As we walked in , we were greeted by the owner ( I believe). He told us that he will make the hot dogs anyway that he would like....they usually grill or deep fry their dogs. Unfortunately I LOVE my dogs steamed but they don't do that here. The owner went over some of the more popular dogs that they have. It almost seemed like he was trying hard to sell his dogs but its because he is so passionate about his business and thats a great thing! Its nice to see people care so much about what they sell. So after looking over the menu of a HUGE assortment of dogs and I do mean HUGE! (they have a dog w/ salsa...a dog w/ carne asada......etc....too many items blurs my thought process) ..I decided to get a plain cheese dog w/ tomatoes.
**to see if you really like a hot dog you must order the simplest type**
As I sat at the table they brought the dog out. It was a nice sized dog in a bun....had slices of tomatoes (per my request) and shredded cheese on top. I put a small stream of ketchup on top and took a bite..and another..and another.....
Was it the best dog ive ever had...well NO...but it was decent. -

Chatsworth, CA
Let me start this by saying that I literally JUST got home from eating there. Unfortunately, my visits are fewer and further between than they used to be, since I live in Chatsworth now instead of NoHo like I did 2 years ago. I should also say that I actually joined Yelp for the primary purpose of writing this review. In short, all other hot-dog places fall short. And by fall short, I mean fall flat on their faces.
The hot-dogs are delicious, reasonably priced, and incredibly creative (where else can you go for a bacon-wrapped, peanut butter and banana hot-dog??). Enough said. But if that wasn't enough, the owner, Willie, is probably the nicest man on the face of the Earth. Even if the dogs sucked, I would come back just to support this guy.
Also, try the onion rings. ;D -

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME?? Did I really think I died a small death, sitting on the sidewalk outside of a hot dog shop?? YES, apparently I did but I was brought back to life just as I finished the last delightful bite of my sweet and spicy dog...I guess I have lived to come back and try something else. Only one major bummer....we live in San Diego so it will be a drive up there but oh so worth it!
Visiting LA for the weekend, made a full stop at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery (bitchen) and decided to do the yelp thing. Thank God for the yelpers that have gone before us.
It's a smallish joint, on a busy street but as soon as we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly man named Willie. I asked him if he was the owner, he said yes and I told him it was our very first time there.
WOW!! This guy's enthusiasm and love for his business is off the charts and if he is this professional and kind with everyone who walks in, I predict that these weenies will make him a millionaire!
My husband was eager to try the Pastrami dog (killer) but I wasn't sure what to try, there were so many different varieties. Willie was kind enough to give me a description and rundown on what was popular and I decided to try a sweet and spicy dog, really a kielbasa sausage. I'm not one to get all kinds of condiments on my dogs, all I want is mustard and onions but on his advice I tried this dog.
Damn, that's all I can say and before I finished the entire thing by almost swallowing it whole, I noticed that the sausage was beautifully carved in a swirly pattern...but really dude, was I going to eat it or look at it? Nope, I was going to eat it but it sure looked pretty going down! Both our buns were as soft and fresh as a mother's heart and held up really well to the bursting-at-the-seams size of the dogs.
My husband was beyond himself with his pastrami dog and like me, he's a purist when it comes to his hot dogs (have to be all beef, kosher, yada, yada) but he was totally stoked. We also ordered a half an order of onion rings and they only thing that s@cked was that my husband ate almost all of them. They tasted as though they were covered in a beer/tempura batter and they rocked.
Btw, there was also homemade coleslaw and potato salad on the menu and although Willie gave me a taste of each and both were good, the coleslaw was the best I've had in a long time.
We had every intention of going to Pinks but the last few times have been a lame experience...it is now time for the new generation of dogs to take over and if this was an MMA match, Pinks would've taken a beating that would make an old man cry. -

This place has my favorite hotdog, the Sweet & Spicy Kielbasa! I never thought I could have a favorite dog/sausage, but I definitely found it here!
I like their signature dog so much that it's preventing me from knocking off stars for only being open until 8pm and being closed on Sundays. Why is it that I always crave their dogs on Sundays or after 8pm! UU TEE EFF -

You have NOT had a hot dog until you've had a Vicious Dog! This place is the mother of all mother friggen hot dog joints and my wife and I were impressed by the moment we stepped into this establishment. We were greeted enthusiastically by all of the employees and especially by the owner himself, Willie. Willie ROCKS!
My wife thoroughly enjoyed the 'Spicy Patrick' dog which she declared was an," explosion of perfection in a meal." The SPD is an Italian sausage layered with Italian beef, cheese, spices and veggies that blended with perfection when she added sauerkraut to the mix. "A perfect 10!" she exclaimed.
I had the 'Sweet & Spicy Kielbasa Dog' which is the signature dog that launched the shop years ago as told by Willie. I LOVED IT....Period. This dog was heavenly from the first bite to the last....bada bing! We included a split order of fries and onion rings which topped off the meal perfectly. I strongly recommend this place to anybody who simply enjoys eating...it is that good.
Thank you Willie and the Vicious Dog crew! We shall return...hhhmmmm...maybe even tomorrow... -

Hot dog! They sure got them here.... not to mention that they have just about any and every combination of hot dog that you could possibly think of.
So with the start of Baseball season, it's only fitting that you owe it to yourself to go to Vicious Dogs and get yourself a vicious meal.
This place does some majorly packed hot dogs and it's well worth the price and the trip out to North Hollywood to get your dog on here. While you always have the option of the stand more towards Ventura, this place is home to some vicious dogs.
So it's properly named when it comes off as that because these dogs come in all shapes and sizes. A lot of them are toppings and combination that you probably wouldn't imagine working out very well. But then you're surprised on how good they actually are.
The dogs I have had here all seem to share that common and pretty welcome snap when you bite them. That alone gets this place high marks. The wieners are packed really well.
This place has all the creativity that you would find at pinks and it has a far less line to get your dog on. That alone should be kept a secret as I'm sure the wait times would be far longer if this became that tourist zone. -

This place has amazing hot dogs. I went here over labor day weekend because of their commercial with rhett and link. I have been wanting to go back ever since to try their other dogs. I tried a jalapeno cheddar dog with onions and chipotle sauce. I do not recall what the dog is called but it was amazing. I will stop by every time I am in the LA area.

WOODLAND HLS, CA
This place was pretty awesome. The owner is so friendly and welcoming. Its a really small joint and it smells SO good when you walk in. The bf got the sweet and spicy keilbasa which was pretty sweet, not sure where the spicy plays in, but it was really good. I got the spicy papi and that too isn't spicy, but it was oh so good!! Got a half order of the chili cheese fries, yummy. The only reason the place got 4 stars instead of 5 is because the jalapeno poppers were not good at all... I think jack in the box has better poppers.
We had a very nice lunch and when I'm craving a hot dog, we'll definitely be back. We were in north hollywood and they had such great reviews, we had to check it out. I am so full and happy and the prices are very reasonable for what you get. -
