I was back again today to get outdoor seating and check out the eye-candy (motorcycles) in Georgetown.

This time we finished off our Via Tribunali pizzas off with tiramasu and tartufo affogato. The tiramasu is heavenly; sweet, rich, fluffy. Oh my god the tartufo was so decadent and chocolaty and had a shot of espresso in the bottom.

Again, friendly attentive staff that was a pleasure to have.

I know how I said I'd only eat cheese when it came on a pizza from Madame K's in Ballard, but I'm a dirty lying whore that can't get enough of the good stuff. And that's exactly what I found at Via Tribunali in Georgetown: gooey, creamy cheesy goodness.

We were a party of eight and one of my friends remarked how our server, a bona-fide Sicilian, was able to remember all of our orders without a pen and pad. She was amicable, attentive and answered all of our questions without so much as arching her perfect brow.

There were two gents dutifully preparing all the meals, practicing their ability to spin pizza dough with what appeared to be oversized diaphragms. Not that I know what a diaphragm looks like per se, I've never even seen lady parts outside of photographs. But I digress. When they weren't assembling pizzas or antipasti, the gents were spinning their diaphragms and slicing meats paper-thin with a deli slicer bolted onto the bar.

We ordered the caprese for a starter, four generous slices of buffalo mozzarella atop equally thick slices of tomato drizzled in olive oil. The plate was salted just-right and an accompanying wedge of pizza crust allowed us to soak up the basil-y olive oil on the dish. The plate also had a few smaller pieces of tomato slices that looked like an afterthought in presentation which could've been omitted without causing a ruckus.

The quattro formaggi pizza is much better than the funghi, which doesn't have as much cheese but comes with a not-so-generous scattering of mushrooms. I would have liked our funghi pizza to contain different mushrooms - did I mention the not-so-generous? - its flavor paled in comparison to the quattro formaggi. Every bite of the latter was lactose love in your mouth. I think that had we ordered the quattro formaggi before the funghi, we wouldn't have needed to order the second pizza.

Thank goodness for a refreshing shot glass of limoncello to cleanse the palate and slightly blur the feeling of being stuffed.

I've never eaten at any of the other Via Tribunali locations but I may try the Capitol Hill location for when winter comes and I don't fancy a bike ride to Georgetown for pizza. If there is a location near Ballard, I'll only try it when/should Madame K's closes its doors. I may be a dirty lying whore but we whores stick together.

The food is still incredible, however,  I was just a little bit put-off with the service the last time I was here.

We ordered the Mitso Salumi Tray- Yes I am aware it is awesome and I might of sounded like an "all knowing" regular while ordering so specifically, but that was since I was thinking of it for days! Quickly, the Salumi is on it's way to the table but passes us?? The server took my Salumi Tray directly to a neighboring table (an older couple who looked well-off, stating this was their first time a few minutes after we arrived.) She very enthusiastically named every meat, cheese and olive.. for them.. suggesting they order it too and her name is "..." Then she just drops it off at our table...  (Disclaimer: Just because I have been here before, does not mean I should be ignored, really, I don't come out that often ;)

We order our pizzas, they arrive timely and are very tasty but we have to ask for everything, the oil, the scissors..
Then my friend orders dessert inside as he wanted to surprise us by ordering two as a b-day surprise. Mmmm.. Tartufo & Tiramuso. Again the server prances it over to the neighboring table, describing it to them?? "I never had the tartufo either" I finally say. "Oh it is delicious" is all I get..
hmphf!

I just believe service should be consistent to all patrons, I mean unless she knew them as major regulars. It made me feel awkward not proud, that our menu selections were so awesome to be "shown off' to other tables before ours. I'd like to hear about them too. The server did seem nice and did know her menu. I'd still go back to try again.

An imaginatively authentic space that's comfortable and friendly. In my last two visits, the pizzas were badly charred and ineditable. Priced at about double of  what you would pay at Pizzeria Pulicinella and not half as good. Skip this overhyped joint and head a few more miles south to Rainier Beach. If you gotta stay in Gtown, go to Stellars down the street.

This is without a doubt the most authentic Italian pizza experience I've ever had in the United States.

I lived for four years in Italy when I was a kid.  Chances are if you talk to me for more than ten minutes, you'll find that out.  When I tell you, it's not that I'm bragging....it's just the four years I lived there had a profound effect on me and shaped who I am more than any other period in my life.  It was just an absolutely idyllic experience for a kid aged 9 to 12.

So any place or sound or smell or taste that reminds me of my beloved former home is sure to have a special place in my heart.  Well, Via Tribunali (esp. the one in Georgetown) is a place that reminds me of Italy (it's like this place had balloons attached to it and was transported from Italy to a far away place--Seattle), sounds like Italy (lovely Italian accents and cheesy Italian rock), smells like Italy (garlic and red wine in the air), and most definitely tastes like Italy.

You may prefer thicker crust or more toppings or that the pizza be cut for you (they don't slice pizza in Italy).  But this is the real deal.  When I bite into the pizza here, I bite into Italy.  When the pie enters my mouth, I'm transported back to my childhood in the beautiful Italian Alps.  A simpler time when happiness was never hard to come by and a dull moment never had.  The sepia-tinged memories instantly become full color again.

Time travel may not be possible, but every time I'm here, I get to re-live my youth, if only for a few precious minutes.

Via Tribunali is probably one of my favorite pizza places in Seattle. All their pizzas are served on a thin crust and cooked in a very hot wood fired oven. Price-wise, it is a bit expensive but totally worth it because the pizzas are made fresh and so delicious. Definitely try the Piazza Dante which is topped with a tasty pomodoro sauce, arugula, prosciutto crudo, smoked provola, cherry tomato. Don't forget to save room for dessert! Their Tartufo Affogato is yummy especially if you love coffee.

The Broadway location is always super busy. Try their Fremont location! Almost never any wait time.

So damn good!

Just got back from having lunch there with some co-workers and had a great time. After driving past this itty-bitty location half a billion times, I figured it was due time to give it a try. Ordered up the insalata della casa and in no time flat, a terrific plate of baby lettuce, amazing mozzarella, tomato, olives and some of the thinnest sliced ham I've ever seen plopped down in front of me. It was a perfect dish and a fairly large portion to be had at the $6 lunch price.

We also ordered the mushroom/funghi pizza and received the incorrect pizza - one that was topped with prosciutto. The waitress was extremely kind and apologetic - offering us the mistake pizza for free, something my other coworkers were quite pleased with when I brought it back. Pizza = mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. A wee bit on the messy side as it had such a tiny crust, but the toppings, dough, cheese and all tasted fresher than Vanilla Ice in a 5.0 Mustang.

The only complaint - trivial at that - would be the lukewarm water. Had I not been having lunch with my boss, there would be a cold brew in my hands so I can certainly look past this during my definite future visits.

Fun fact:  A small shop across the street broadcasts movies and TV shows onto the big wall right above Via Tribunali's shop, so bring your chairs for a fun and unique late night dinner date.

It's sad that a terrible dining experience is what prompts me to write a new review on Yelp. Sad, but true.

I will start the actual review by saying, the pizze were good as usual. We ENDED UP with one pizza salame and one pizza salciccia e provola. My wife didn't like the salciccia pizza but the salame was as good as we've had at the other locations. Also, this review is SPECIFICALLY based on our experience at this location, not all Via Tribunali locations. We have NEVER had this sort of experience at the other locations, ever.

So we showed up around 8:15p tonight and there were 4, only 4 tables seated. We made table #5. We were pointed to an area where we could sit. It took nearly 5 minutes to even get menus. When we did we asked if it was all the same menu, the response, "It's exactly the same, hasn't changed". Nearly 10 minutes from the time we walked in someone finally took our drink order.

5 tables...3 already had their food.

When the drinks arrived we had to ask to order our food: Speck & Fagioli salad and a pizza tonno (our absolute favorite!). She repeated our order and I reiterated, one pizza tonno.

4 tables now...including us. The guy next to us left.

For the next 20 minutes we watched as the other server cashed out, our server fiddled with computer and talked to the cashing out server, and the pizzaiolo stood by the oven doing nothing. As the one server finished cashing out she turned and said "We don't have any salad...do you just want the speck and the beans?" My wife said, "Well, maybe we'll get another pizza to go with our tonno pizza." "Oh, we don't make the tonno pizza any more, I thought you wanted the tonno salad."

I previously said, "...and a pizza tonno."

At this point I had to walk up to the bar to get another menu so that we could pick a 2nd pizza.

After nearly 40 minutes since we walked in, we finally had our pizza.

By this point two more tables had left...2 tables. We sat with empty glasses, napkins on plates. Had to get the server's attention from her seat, conversing with the other table, apparently friends to get a box and our check. When we got it, nothing was comped...I would expect to have had a couple of drinks taken off the bill since we waited for 20 minutes before being told that they didn't have ANYTHING we ordered.

I am so disheartened and discouraged by this experience. We have loved Via Tribunali for years and will definitely be back to the Capitol Hill location, no question about that...but we will not be returning to the Georgetown location.

Plain and simple, this is the 2nd worst dining experience I've ever had,  behind our il Bistro debaucle. At least they weren't a-holes here tonight...just lazy.

For a last minute celebratory dinner my mom and I found ourselves driving around Georgetown hoping a place I have never been to would strike me with an "Eureka!" moment and one did. Via Tribunali would be the restaurant I would eat pizza at to congratulate myself on a job well done.

The Via Tribunali space in Georgetown is in an old building. Its long with an incredibly high ceiling. There is little width to speak off with huge windows at the front. Since it was a beautiful blue sky and sun day, the building got a little lighting boost from Mother Nature. Right smack in the middle is a small bar.

My mom and I were seated quickly. Water arrived shortly after with menus. Via Tribunali has pizza as the main draw. There is one pasta dish, a few salads, and appetizers. To my delight there were a few desserts. I will admit I looked at the prices more than I did the ingredients on the pizza. The cheapest pie available was $13 and went up to $22. While somewhat reasonably priced, I was dismayed to see the smallish size. If you have no appetite these can be shared. If you love to eat like I do, one per person will suffice.

We decided to order the Via Tribunali which was a blend of various cheeses, basil, and tomato sauce. My mom also wanted the arugula, tomato, and cheese salad.

There was a wait for our food. Nothing entirely outrageous but when you are excited about pizza any wait is unbearable.

The salad arrives first and rather than being mixed the three ingredients are all separated. If you are supposed to mix yourself or leave everything in place, I am unsure, but my mom left things just the way they were. I took a bite and the cheese was incredible. Unfortunately  I can't remember the name. Soon after the pizza came. It sat in front of us full of cheese and uncut. I tore a piece off, took a bite, and was a bit underwhelmed. It wasn't terrible yet it wasn't as good as I had expected to be.

We didn't see the waitress all that often due to the fact she was the only one working.

After the pizza was finished we ordered a slice of the lemon and pinenut cake. Aside from the lingering taste of it sitting in the refrigerator too long, it was tasty.

I can't say if I'll be back to Via Tribunali. The total bill was a lot more than either of us expected. For that price the food could have been better.

The pizza at this particular location is better than all the other Via Trib pies I've had... and I've been to 3 of their locations now.

I don't know why it tasted better. There seemed to be more toppings and more arugula on this particular Dante pie than there was at the Fremont location and the crust here was better too.

The service is great. The manager was so happy with his guests, talking with each table... making sure that each diner's experience was "as good as it gets."

The one small thing I would warn one about is... whatever's going on next door (night club, bar?) is a bit distracting. The loud thumping coming through the walls was a bit annoying... but I would never let that detract from the fact that the salumi plate and the pie were spectacular.

I came here for lunch a month or so ago and I wasn't too impressed. I'm glad we gave 'er another go last night b/c we'll definitely be back for pizza again soon.

I really like this location nestled in tiny little Georgetown. You blink and you'll have driven right past it.

The space inside this location is very small and narrow, but very cozy and I did not once feel cramped even with 3 other people at my table.

For salads we shared the Insalata Tricolore (Arugula, Fresh Ricotta, Cherry Tomato) & Insalata di Parma (Arugula, Olive Oil, Parmiggiano Reggiano), which were decent, but a little too simple for me.

I ordered the Pizza Dante (Tomato, Arugula, Prosciutto, Smoked Mozzarella, Cherry Tomato) and it was absolutely amazing. I choose to eat the pizza wrapped up NYC style, which essentially makes it a a pizza sandwich and brings out all of the ingredients and the dough.

The service was attentive and everyone was very nice. I'll be back again, as the Georgetown location is not as crowded as the other locations and, cue the cliche, but it did feel like I was in a small town in Italy!

I was a Via Tribunali hater for a long time.  My first experience was at the Capitol Hill location where the surly host made us sit in the dark next to a wood pile for 90 minutes before we could have a table.  That the food was OK was almost beside the point after all of that.  It just didn't seem worth the trouble.

But with their expansion to Queen Anne, Georgetown and the Croc it seems there is now enough Via Tribunale to go around.  With easier access it is now easy to really enjoy this place for what it is.  Red wine in stemless glasses.  Thin crust pizza with just the right amount of char on the bottom and toppings that are totally Old School Italian legit.  Antipasto to make you drool.  I'm glad I gave them a second chance.

PREFIX:
I had a BAD TERRIBLE AWFUL HORRENDOUS, I just want to crawl in bed and cry for 24 hours straight day.

Suzy the Subaru blew a radiator. I don't know anything about cars so when steam (which looks like smoke to me) starts coming out everywhere it freaks me out beyond belief. They then fixed a hose only to find myself two hours later stuck on the side of a road with creepy men in an even more isolate area for hours with no cell phone coverage. Finally Suzy was dropped off at the Subaru shop awaiting news if the engine had been affected throughout everything. My head was rolling with the possibility of a four digit number bill which made absolutely sick.... I was given a Substitute Suzy and drove my teary swollen eyes over to my friend's diamond shop. A gigantic bear hug later life was still not dandy.

The point of all of this is with all this badness all I wanted was pizza and an alcoholic beverage to fill my starvation ridden stomach. Via Tribunali had just opened and was just a couple blocks away. It seemed like the best fit based on the fact we were both dressed to impress from our client filled days. This place was a fail followed by more fail. First off I wanted to add artichokes to my pizza! That's it... just wanted to add artichokes! THEY SAID NO! You can do absolutely no substitutions! How can you possibly not add artichokes when they are listed on multiple other pizzas?!?!?! I looked at the waiter with my red swollen eyes and said please really nicely.... no luck! Then my boyfriend at the time (this review is extremely old) looked at the waiter with the pissed off 6'5" Italian guy look, still no luck! I thought the pizza lacked flavor and pizazz personally when it came out... plus it was lacking my highly desired artichokes! The ingredients that were listed that were supposed to be on my pizza were few and far between.. it was a lot of crust... very few of much else. We ordered a dinner salad and I had a couple glasses of house wine. Please note I had "house" wine, because when the bill came he had to drop a $100 before we left!!!!!!! I don't know about you but when I walk out of a restaurant dropping a $100 I want damn artichokes if I want artichokes, or be slightly tipsy, and or eating something other then pizza or at least make it damn delicious, heavily covered in ingredients pizza!  Then to make my bad day even worse, I had to listen to my companion complain that he just dropped over a $100 on pizza for two.

This is a very old review... it was saved for me to finish for some many months now... but I will not be back here unless I was invited by someone else footing the bill and felt to awkward to speak up about how much I dislike it here! Save your money and go to Kenmore and check out some good old fashioned pizza that is family run at Pizza Works, or go to a place very similar to Via Tribunali and delicious, Tutta Bella! P.S.  The last two mentioned pizza places do in fact allow me to have artichokes when asked and they do it with a smile!

My girlfriend and I tried this place on Friday night. We were planning on going to Stellar but I accidentally turned like I was going to All City (habit I guess) and then a parking space opened up. We took that as a sign to try the new Via Tribunali. It did not disappoint.

We each had the house salad, she had ham on hers and I had tuna. The salad could have been a mini-meal on it's own. I love that they put salty little capers in. Yum!

We each had a pizza and they were delicious as well. Topped with generous cheese and nice and thin but not overly crunchy or crispy.

The best part of the meal was dessert. We had the house dessert which was a calzone stuffed with Italian chocolate and nutella and then nutella drizzled on top. My girlfriend promptly cut in half knowing my tendency to hog dessert. She was smart to do so. It was delish!

We had the house red wine which was served in little glass cups at room temperature, as it should be! Service was great and it was a nice quiet, but not too quiet atmosphere. A++

They're multiplying!  I had no idea.  I loved Cap Hill, then oh look, Queen Anne, and then I'm in G-town last night and pop bang surprise, there's one there too.  Off to yelp and Freemont, First Hill!  Let's be real, it's great pizza, but should it multiply?  I'm not sure.

The Cap Hill One still tops my list.  G-Town is super small, but quaint and cool.  Still the best pizza in the city if you like the thin stuff.

I'll have to rate it again after going back, but my initial experience here was one I won't forget.

I went for a slow food event. Theo chocolate donated the 'late, stumptown donated the 'fee (including the cat poop coffee), and tribunali served up pizzas, cheese, prosciutto, beer, and wine.

This was about a week before they were officially opened, or were to do their 'soft grand opening,' and the owners spent some time talking about the place and how everything there had been shipped from Sicily-the oven, the family style tables, the wood treatments on the walls. They took great pain to make this place authentic.

Ambiance aside, the pizzas these guys cook up are fantastic. Thin but chewy, not overloaded with toppings, and spiced just right. Like I said, I'll have to go back now that they have been open for awhile. I'm expecting nothing but goodness!

Good, somewaht authentic italian pizza.  My main issue here is that they don't use porcini mushrooms on their pies, if they did I would be sold but I think they use canned button mushrooms, at least on their quattro stagioni)!  Sometimes I get a pie with an underdone crust which is a bummer, so they're not too consistent.  The crust should be slightly charred and crisp.  Hate to say it here but Tutta Bella is better, their crust is more flavorful, chewier and is consistently cooked the right amount of time.  Still good stuff, but you can find better in Seattle.

My whole experience here was like bizzaro world.  It was so awkward, I just wanted to leave as soon as possible.

The place is dark and cavernous.  Voices carry. And of course, we go there and there's this loud, drunk chick constantly talking and her squawking is reverberating off the walls like crazy.  Then she starts to break out in song at the top of her lungs!  Luckily the owner put a stop to this and she left but he's kinda too, ugh.

I am a fan of Neapolitan pizza so I was looking forward to the pizza.  But honestly, it was just ok.  The average price of a pie is $15 and it tasted good, but not great.

I got a pint of Manny's and was shocked to see they charge $6 for a pint!

So what was it?  Bad night?  Wrong combo of crowd and wait staff?  The cosmos?  Perhaps... Would I risk it and try this joint again?  Nah, I'd rather trek to Tutta Bella.....  or just go down the street to Stellar.

For some time now there have been signs of life and activity behind the covered-up windows in the long-vacant building across from All City Coffee.  While the big "Pizzeria" sign along the side of the building was a tip-off, once I learned a little over a month ago that it was to be the latest Via Tribunali location, I started dreaming of the thin-crust pizza I used to enjoy growing up in the northeast.  So when I stumbled upon a blogger's mention of the restaurant's opening just this week, I headed over that very night for a taste.

My dining companion and I were greeted warmly by who I believe was the owner, and all of the waitstaff were attentive and friendly.  Also, this is the first "take-the-parents-to-dinner" kind of restaurant in my neighborhood.  As happy as I am with the many dining options in Georgetown, my mom is more likely to be impressed with the decor ("all imported directly from Italy" we were told) here than the motorcycles or deer heads at some of my favorite local haunts.

We split a caprese appetizer and proscuitto crudo pizza.  The caprese was light and tasty as expected -- we drizzled some balsamic vinegar from the decanter on the table for some extra kick. The pizza was delicious, perfect crust, if a little bit soggy in the middle, requiring some knife-and-fork action.  But our plates (and wine glasses) were empty before long.

Prices are definitely a bit high for the neighborhood, but with quality food like this, I'm not complaining (much).  Via Tribunali fills a good niche in Georgetown, a nice alternative to Stellar if you want thin-crust pizza.  And they are open til 11pm!

I've been debating on whether to write this review or not because...well it seems I'm in the minority. Everyone seems to love this place. But really...I don't know what the fuss is about. I enjoy Neapolitan style pizza just as much as the next person but this place just doesn't do it for me. Service was friendly and I love Georgetown, but I don't really think it's worth the price. I can appreciate the fresh ingredients, but beyond that it's kind of....blah.

Tasty pizza in a cozy atmosphere. One of the pizzas we got was different from what we ordered but it was good too. I was happy the served arugula salad, my favorite. Wine was good too.

I heart this place.  The food and drinks are money and the atmosphere is really cool and authentic.  The staff when I've been there have even been real live Italians.  The menu is a little shorter than some of their other locations, but I'm ok with that.

We've been here twice in the last few weeks.  I had noticed it being built last year and finally got the gumption to give it a try.  I'm so glad we did.  This is not your typical Stellar pizza fare.  This is true italian food with an authentic-feeling atmosphere.  The staff are very attentive, the food is scrumptious, and the desserts (tiramisu, please!) are spot-on.  I love that they make it an interactive experience and give you the scissors to cut your own slices.  We'll be going here very often from now on.

We first came here to celebrate the wee man's 1st week as a 1st grader.  The staff was incredibly gracious.
We began with the insalata tricolore, which I enjoyed immensely, but at which both of my texture sensitive dates curled their respective noses.
They don't know what they were missing.
Our pizze (1 margherita, 1 salsiccia provola, and 1 primavera,) arrived way quicker than I expected. The shorter of my dining companions scarfed down 7/8 of his pie before I had moved on to slice 2 of my arugula-licious-salad-on-perfectly-thin-wood-fired -crust sensation. Belly full, he also began to lose his manners and, thus, the taller one and I began to lose our ability to savor our meal and/or complete our sentences. Nonetheless we persevered through dessert. On our very patient server's recommendation, the three of us shared the tiramisu, which we were told is flown in from Italy, and the tartufo affogato. Oh my god yum.
Celebratory meal complete, many manners relearned, happy campers all around . . .
Tonight the almost mister and I revisited Via Tribunali - just the 2 of us!  *gasp*
I really couldn't believe it was the same place.
Was this ambience here last time?
We shared a bottle of something delightful.  So much so, I can't remember its name.
My Insalta Di Parma perfectly preceded the Via Tribunali - a wonderful combination of tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, ricotta, and provola, again on that delightful crust.
We exchanged far too many well constructed sentences to finish our dinner, but what we had, we savored.
In short, Via Tribunali is a great place for families, but it's also the perfect place for a romantic dinner for 2.

I have dined at Via Tribunali twice now.  The Neopolitan style pizza is fabulous, the staff is quirky(for me that's a good thing), the manager was very attentive and friendly as well.  I wish they would add a few more selections to the menu, however.  As I said, the pizza is great, but it would be terrific to have a local place that served other authentic italian dishes (yes the insalata and anti pasto are also terrific). Based on what I have eaten here I would not be suprised if they could give the "family" run joints on Taylor Street in Chicago a run for their money.  The chains just can't do it.  I have not tried their lasagna (the only pasta they offer) yet, but will add to this review when I do.  It is great that Georgetown now has two distinctly different pizza places.  And to top it off, where else can you get Peroni on tap?
