Completely amazing. I used to work at the San Diego Humane Society, which was (at the time I was there) one of the most state of the art fabulous shelters in the country. other shelters constantly toured the facility to learn new tricks of the trade.
This vet hospital makes the Humane Society look like a country bumpkin cousin.
My dog Chloe was diagnosed with a lot of various cancers (lung, abdomen, gland, bone...jeez!) and the prognosis is not good. She has about a year left. Without this hospital, she would have maybe 2 months. She's being treated with chemotherapy, which is not as intensive as it is for people, but when she leaves the place she prances as if she's at the dog park. She's happy to be dropped off in the mornings, too, and to spend the day with the vet staff.
that's another thing - the drop off. it's SO wonderful to be able to drop her off in the morning (6 AM) and pick her up when I'm done with work. so many vet places have you pay for day boarding, or won't let you leave the dog even if you can't miss another day of work. it's so convenient to be able to leave her in capable hands, knowing that she's not an unhappy camper!
the vet staff calls throughout the day to keep me abreast of the progress and any news, and everyone is so very nice and considerate. i love it.
i do not love the high prices, but when your little daughter's life and well-being is at stake, money's a small consideration.

Amazing! I won't bore you with the LONG details of our many, many visits to VSH but will just tell you that you can't get better care than this place!
Our 4 year old dachshund had back problems and ended up in emergency on New Year's Eve (2005). Dr. Levitski (neurologist) came in on New Year's Day to perform her mylogram and back surgery. She also gave us great continued care a week later when Penny ended up back in emergency at midnight with further back problems. Dr. Levitski's staff were communicative and kind! Couldn't have asked for better care. I do have to say that it isn't cheap but it is worth it knowing she is getting the best available.
A year later she is doing fabulous - took her in for a check up and everyone came to see her!
Outstanding! This is a place full of the best Vets in all of Southern California. Most of the Vets have been to UC Davis at some point and all are top notch. We took our Bulldog there for ACL surgery and she has recovered well.
I initially took her there for a second opinion, but found out that the first opinion I received from a surgeon would not of been a good decision for my dog. I was glad to hear this and happy that the Vet at this place took a look at my Dog.
The post operative care for her was awesome as well. They gave us good instructions on how to take care of her afterward and the follow-ups have been awesome.
They are not the cheapest, but they are certainly the best.

I am in love with this facility, with the staff and especially with their doctors. Here is my story:
Several years ago, one of my dobermans became paralyzed from the upper spine down! Our local vet (we lived in Orange County then) told us it was hopeless, she needed to be put down (and they didn't mean insulted).
We called U.C. Davis and their top surgeon directed us to this wonderful place.
They fixed her spine problem and she was later jumping around again like a puppy!
A few years later, she and our other dog were both diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Keith Richter is a doll baby.He is tops in his field, a graduate of Cornell and thinks nothing of calling Cornell or even Europe (on his dime) to check a treatment or a diagnosis!
In my own immaturity at the time I was actually foolish enough to pull my dog from his care over some trivia. He cheerfully took her back as a patient , when I was heartbroken and desperate! She died a number of years later while chasing a bunny!
When you think of the money and time you can waste with a misdiagnosed pet, (not to mention your pet's agony and your own heartache) they are worth every penny!

Our vet recommended this place to us a few times. Great doctors, the latest equipment and a lot of success with other animals.
The first time we came here, was to help battle lymphoma with a 10 year old dog. We were told that the success rate was 70%, but they didn't take into account her age and other issues, or at least we weren't informed her chances of survival would be much lower.
We also brought two other dogs here since that first time in 1998. I wouldn't hesitate to bring a younger dog here in the future.

When your pet has a serious problem, go to the experts. The vets here are not cheap (due to high tech lab fees, etc.), but they know what they are doing and will get right to the problem, saving you countless future visits to the vet.
After seeing our "general" vet many times (who is great at every-day problems), we requested a specialist. They sent us here, and in a month a long-lingering problem was solved.
