Neighborhood: Brooklyn/Cobble HillVERG recently diagnosed my dog with terminal cancer, and after a few months, we took him there to be "put to sleep".
while there was nothing good about this whole process, i want to stress that every single person we encountered there was amazing, and wonderful. i am so glad that we took him there for both visits. i can't imagine a more supportive atmosphere to have to make some really tough decisions.
i'd seen a bad review of this place elsewhere online, and wanted to counter-act it by writing this good one. i can't imagine them doing anything other than what they thought was best for your animal. end of story.
I, too, have had to visit VERG a couple times, once for my dog and once for my cat. Both times, I was highly impressed with their professionalism, their knowledge base, and their bedside manner and TLC. This place gets very busy, but I never felt like they were rushing with my babies. My dog was quickly given a doggie enema for her extreme constipation, while my cat had to stay a couple days for her obstructed urinary track, and both times I felt they were in the best hands.
My only down side is they are quite pricey, but with that kind of quality, I am more than willing to fork it over.

Thank goodness for this place. Unfortunately I've had the occasion to visit here a few times. Fortunately I've always felt like they took great care of my dog. There's been a bit of a wait, but hey, that's what you have to expect in an emergency room setting. The staff has always been wonderful. The only problem was when I called to try and ascertain whether something was really an emergency or not. The woman at the front desk insisted I bring my dog in right away. When she was seen by the doctor, however, he assured me that it was a situation that could best be dealt with on a "wait and see" basis. I would've rather not had to pay 90 bucks to find that out. Oh well, when it comes to my dog, better safe than sorry.

When my dog had a seizure, I ended up at VERG, and I'm glad that they exist.
Dr. Pritchett saw my dog, and he did a great job overall, going well above and beyond what was required. Everyone was extremely kind and competent, and the bill was less than $100 - for emergency care on a Saturday night. Wow. And there was virtually no wait at all.
Any pet owner nearby should write their address and phone number into their phone, on their wall, or stick on the fridge. A tremendous resource.

The professional staff is young, very kind, eager and attentive and it is great to have a facility like this around 24/7 for emergencies. My dog had a complicated condition, they were able to stabilize him and we took him to Bobst Animal Medical Center to see specialists.
