This place could be great but need better bartenders.  Very verry slow and not attentive.

Menu is ok.  Nothing special.  The good was fine, the hummus app the only thing we really said anything beside "eh."

Atmostphere is very much for 20 somethings with some (but not a lot) of extra cash and just looking to mingle.  True diners need not attend.

Oh my gosh - I was so cute in 2005! Fresh out of college in kinder New England, struggling to make ends meet in a converted 3 bedroom by writing one-liners for this fledgling food review site, "Yelp", and, apparently, blowing it all at the coolest bar I'd ever seen. I can picture it - donning my latest one-time-wear blouse from Forever 21, gingerly applying mascara and Body Shop lipgloss. . . to have a grown-up cocktail - like an amaretto sour - at Vertigo.

My goodness, I'm adorable.

A friend and I were in the neighborhood looking for a place to eat dinner and arbitrarily picked Vertigo. It seemed nice enough from the outside and met our requirements--a full bar and a menu that wasn't limited to standard bar fare like sliders, wings and fries. I've been back at least 3-4 times since then when I've been in the neighborhood.

Don't go out of your way to eat here, but if you are in the neighborhood and looking for a bite to eat along with a few drinks, it's a much better option than the nearby pubs. Their fish dishes are delicious and reasonably priced (~$16). Throw in a couple of lychee martinis and you're golden.

Also, I've only been here on weekday nights so it's never been loud and crazy (with the exception of one Thursday night when there was a football game on) and it's usually easy to snag a table.

I'm not sure why many people are hating so hard on this place...

Went there on a Thursday night to watch a game, and although it was crowded and loud, it was nowhere near as bad as the nearby pubs.  If I had watched the game at one of those places, my head probably would've been nestled in a stranger's armpit while trying to drink and watch the game from a tight little corner of body odor.

But Vertigo was different.  It was crowded, but there was still room to move around and we didn't wait more than a couple minutes for a spot at a long table.  The beer selection was limited, but the menu was expansive (the wings suck, but A+ sliders).

I highly recommend this place if you're in the hood and you want a chill place...and you're willing to pay a little more for an upscale, stylish feel.  When they open up the sliding glass doors in the summer, I could spend hours day-drinking here.

Great place to meet up with friends for drinks. We hogged a large table and only had 1-2 drinks each but we never felt rushed. Granted it was a Sunday night, but still nice. There was unexpectedly a salsa party going on too which was fun to watch.
Great service, fun atmosphere, overall a great place. I'd come back if I lived here!

Seems like a nice chill place to grab a drink with friends. Nothing extraordinary or dull...good for people watching on the street.

Note to guy passing gas all night at the next table...next time please have the courtesy to get up instead of ruining other people's evenings. Ugh.

They got me hooked the first time I ordered my lunch. I had a cajun grilled chicken sandwich, and it came with sundried tomatoes on it, a spicy mayo, swiss cheese, lettuce, and onions. If your mouth isn't salivating by now then you must not be a chicken sandwich fan. Because this food was just so pleasing! The waitresses were sweet, attentive (on top of drinks and refilling my water), and fun to talk with. I have not been here during the evening time, but their weekend lunch / brunch specials are to die for. You get your entree, with a side and then you get 2 free drinks with it. Liquor based, beers, wines, it really was a solid deal for only $16. Vertigo has it right, from the atmosphere, to quality of food, to dining experience. oh! Try and get a table by the streets and window. That way you get the nice breeze and enjoyment of people watching.

Kinda pricey for the basic bar food, however the kitchen does stay open much later than surrounding places. $7 side fries, and 12 cocktails however feel more like lounge/club prices, not late night bar prices. i would probably come here if there was nothing else open but i doubt it will be a place i frequent often.

Don't be fooled by the name...  Vertigo does NOT aspire to great heights.  It serves up typical bar / pub fare but does so with a bit more style (and a few twists) than most.

The style up-scaling can be said for the decor as well which is chic and fun. The wrap around glass windows open up wonderfully in the summer and warm days for a very pleasant open dining/drinking experience.

Service is uneven at best but usually efficient. The noise level can bit a bit much on busy nights but is typical for the NY pub scene.

This is a nice chill lounge, especially if you can snag the sofas in the back. On Saturday night, the place was relatively empty (we were the only ones in the back as a group of about 10) and the front tables/bar only had about a dozen people. The DJ played a good mix of latin music and hip hop and there was an area to dance (although no one really did).

Overall a nice laid back hangout.

I assume this place is popular in some circles, but in my one experience I have nothing good to say about this place. The service was terrible; one napkin  per table + clumsy waitresses spilled our drinks 3x.
The worst part was the drinks: Everything we ordered, from shots to martinis was WATERED DOWN. Could not believe it. For 5 drinks we paid $80 (without tip).
Skip vertigo, find a better place to enjoy drinks with some friends.

Best summed up by "Looks over substance". Location is great, the concept is good, the layout is good...and yet it could have been so much more.

Beers - nothing above the standard big brewers fare, sad I had hoped for a few real ales at least.

Wine - awful selection by the glass, cheap wines sold for $10-12 per glass. Wine list was OK but again no bargains or treats here.

Food - Well this visit I only had the burger. The burger has a large bun (hate that) it was over cooked from med-rare to well done. French fries were at least crispy however the had been fried once a long time ago then refried - correct concept to make crispy fries but it the time between the two fries is a long time they hold oil...
The pickle was average but there was a nice fresh lettuce, onion and tomato on the plate.

Finally the place tries hard to be a sports bar - well it should have hi-def television then, it doesn't. Flat screens around the bar are nice but without the hi-def it's just ordinary.

One plus was the barman - very efficient, friendly and knowledgeable - made me a great harvey wallbanger.

Grade C......must try harder.

I had a good time on a Thursday night, mostly due to it not being insanely crowded, and the company of the people I was with.  However, standard drinks such as a gin and tonic, or a vodka soda were $10. During happy hour.  The place is nice, but not $10-for-a-well-drink-during-happy-hour nice.  I heard that peach cosmo's are half off during happy hour...but who the fuck wants a peach cosmo?

Love the decor, love the atmosphere, love the food, crowd's aright, bartender suckkkkks! Went there with a girlfriend and she was NOT trying to serve us. It was a slow Sunday night. Hardly anyone there and stayed at the end of the bar talking with one of her friends. We were trying to order more drinks and food and she wouldnt come over so the barback/busboy served us!

To add my 2c, Vertigo continues to be very consistent. While recent HR hiring policies have been wanting relative to 2 yrs ago, it's still one of the best places to get a quick Bud Light.

Would not recommend brunch here as it does not stand out for the price.

if you like loud booming music in a lounge, come here fri and sat nights. i prefer the weeknights/sunday nights because vertigo downbeat is really nice and pleasant. the decor is sleek and trendy, and the bar is as well. the food was really good! a great place to come after work or with some friends to shoot the shit and get a pretty alcoholic beverage.

Very hip bar, but it's not my scene.  The food was great and the drinks were good (but nothing memorable).  All your standard fair, but somehow i felt like prices were slightly jacked up.  Maybe it's me.  Service is attentive and friendly.

My favorite after work bar in Murray Hill (I work on 24 and Park). Its never too packed, with the exception of Thursday or when a good game is on, and the service is always speedy. The talent here was amazing two years ago and has since died down a bit. I attribute this to dry spell in casting.  With a full bar, four plasmas, a live DJ and private seating, I could see Vertigo as a great birthday place (but who parties in the Hill?), however, I'll stick with the after-work drink spot.  The Bud Light here is always cold and avaliable in large quantities.  In the summers, the front sections open up and sets up for some interesting people watching if thats your thing. I've tried the appetizers - hummus, calamaris, nachos - all great after a few beers, but relative to bar food, I'd say nothing too impressive.

It's really A-OK.  I don't see why everyone likes this place so much.  I came here with a group of friends for dinner and I ordered the Angel Hair Pasta, which was very flavorless.  It felt like I was eating plain pasta without any sauce.  The atmosphere was nice, though.  There were couches along the wall in the restaurant, a DJ and a bar.  But, I've definitely experienced better somewhere else...

I'd only been to Vertigo a few times when I recommended to my boyfriend that we throw his birthday party here.  I organized everything through Romy who was super-friendly and accommodating.  No pressure to commit to party-size or to order food.  Originally she told me that she'd reserve a few high tables for us, but as the party size grew she decided to put is in the back area.  It worked perfectly!  Our waitress was efficient, though completely uninterested.  Other than that, the place was a hit!  HIGHLY recommended for anyone looking for a relaxed place for a get-together!  Make sure you ask for Romy.

The atmosphere is well established all throughout the day but its presence is even more vibrant at night with great lighting, fun music, cute bartenders, and nice decor.  The drinks and service are nothing to crow about however, as they are averaged price and service will depend on which night you come in.  Its a good spot for its location, but not preferred if you're coming from far away.

So everyone has to have a late night neighborhood spot, this is one of my favorites. A stellar late night menu (try the humus and nan dip) and excellent Mojitos/ Cocomojito cap a night off just right. The staff is super friendly, lots of space, and a good vibe make this spot worth checking out...

Went on a Friday night at 7 pm to meet another Dallas transplant.  I found the atmosphere to be relaxing and chic.  Nice roomy bar and seating area to order food.  The waitress was very attentive and refilled our wine glasses quickly and quietly.  We just stuck to drinks but I would definitely return and give the menu a try.

If you're not 24 hence avoid going to Tonic, and would like to find a place  in Murray Hill with chill music, comfortable seats, doesn't smell like stale beer and has decent food, Vertigo may be right for you.   I like sitting at the bar - you can talk to your friend/date, watch the ballgames on their plasma televisions, and feel the breeze from the open doors during the nice weather.   Perhaps for a slightly more mature (age-wise) crowd?   It's comfortable except during happy hour on some days.

Relative to the other third avenue bars, Vertigo is definitely top of my list.  It has a bit more of a chill and loungy-feel (without being pretentious). The food is actually very good so you can stop by for dinner, which is a plus.   And, I heart Robby the bartender, you can't miss him and his Irish accent ;-)

Whether you are looking for a great restaurant or a great bar, this is the place to go. The fried calamari is to die for, and the atmosphere is a great dining experience. It gets even better at night when the crowd spills in, the lights go down, and the music turns up. You really feel like you're in New York City.

Music can be a little loud (I'm getting old!), but the food is great (one of the best burgers in NYC) and the Guinness ain't bad...  They open up the windows/doors onto Third Ave in the summer and there's always a good crowd without it being too 'sceney'.
