Had my wedding here on 10.1.11 and I could not have picked a better venue! Very happy across the board from the service & professionalism to the quality of food to the flow of everything.  If you decide to do stations for dinner, be sure to get the pasta station, this was everyones favorite and was a big hit!

My wife and I got married at Verandas on 9/30/11.  We decided to go with Verandas over La Venta and a few other locations in the South Bay because of the location and the event set up.  The downstairs area is great for a staging area before the wedding and then for the dinner service.  The real selling point was the beautiful upstairs area which included a cake cuting area, bar, view of the ocean and huge lounge like dancing area/seating.  We liked this as it would force people to get up from the tables and dance/interact with each other.

Everything that day went extremely smoothly and I would attribute that to the great team of people that they have working there.  Tim (our coordinator) was on the ball for everything and was very responsive throughout the whole process.  I really enjoyed the service that we received from the whole Verandas team and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a South Bay location.  The team was able to keep the ceremony on time and moving even though we had some small rain showers the day of our wedding.  Another huge plus was that we were able to do our wedding photo's on the beach.

We decided to do plated meals as we don't like buffet style weddings.  All of our guests raved about the food and how much they enjoyed the appetizers and main dishes they had (we went with chicken and beef).

The only reason I did not give them a 5 star rating is the fact that from start to finish (6 months) we had 3 different coordinators.  There were great reasons for the change however it became a little frustrating having the same intro meeting 3 times.  That being said all 3 people we worked with were great.

Amazing venue, food, and people.  We had our wedding there in september and could not be more happy with how it turned out.
    Pros:
    1.  Sara, the coordinator we worked with was great.  She was organized, easy to work with, helpful, and had great ideas.  We couldn't have asked for anything more.  On the day of the wedding, we did not have to worry about one thing.

    2. The food was amazing.  People kept commenting how they wanted the recipe to some of the dishes.

    3. The parking is close and plentiful.  They have a lot associated with there location so you don't have to pay extra for valet or parking for your guests.

    4. They have an AV system built in.  We hired a string quartet, but when they were taking a break, we had them play music off our ipod.  It was great because it was so simple.  We literally handed our coordinator an ipod and she plugged it right in.

    5. No hidden costs.  Our coordinator worked with us to estimate how much everything would cost and even made suggestions on how we could save money.  When we got our final bill, it was right on target with what had been originally estimated.  I am by no means saying that this is a budget wedding venue.  However, I am saying that I thought the prices ended up being totally worth the quality we got.

    Cons:
The street traffic was noticeable but only because a fire engine came by in the middle of the ceremony.  However, they provide mics so it's not like you had to strain to hear.

The venue can only hold about 150 people at the most, so it's not good for a larger wedding.

I love this place and wish everything in my life could be as well run as this venue.

When arriving here initially, my honey and I were joking and saying " eww you want to leave." Just as before, I told him NEVER judge a book by the cover.

First thought: you can really smell the ocean from here. Lets be truthful in all that we say: the outside of Verandas is ugly, and can be a major turn off for some. From the building to the beautiful *insert sarcasm here* oil wells you can see from the parking lot.

The inside is rather nice, more modern than La Venta.
FIRST FLOOR- would consist of all the tables for dining.
SECOND FLOOR- Reminded us of a lounge. The dance floor, a bar, ample cushioned seating aside the dance floor, a bar, and elevated platform with fireplace.

    PROS:
*Sara the wedding planner at Verandas is super cool. We hit it off with her right away*
    *The second floor*
    * catered by NY Food*

    CONS:
    * Noisy location*
    * No View, although you can smell it*
    * Small Ceremony site*

Yay for this place. I came here for a wedding reception and was really impressed. The food here is excellent. They give a very healthy good sized serving of food. I had their prime flat iron steak with peppercorn sauce and it was soooo good. The steak was huge. Some of the others sitting at my table chose the trout for their meal and this looked really impressive too. To compliment the meal they also had an awesome bread basket with different types of bread :) and a tasty salad with lil walnuts and apples. Good stuff indeed!

Aside from an awesome main course, this wedding reception place also had  excellent desserts. The reception I went too had  a beautiful Italian dessert buffet. It was so impressive that I had to take pictures of the display. The best thing in the buffet was the cannoli. Any place that has cannoli definitely gets a bonus star :). The wedding cake was awesome too - chocolate cake and carrot cake. Yum! (On a side note: the bride mentioned this place had many different choices for the wedding cake and they all sounded soooo good!)

Lastly, I really liked how this place set up the reception. Outdoors was an open bar that had cute little lights and plant all around. There was also some stairs outside that the bride and groom along with the bridal party came down from. Inside there was a first floor where all the tables were at and then there was a second floor with athe dance floor, a cake area, another bar and some couches for the guests.

It truly is a hidden gem.  Who knew that on busy Rosecrans there would be hidden such a great place for a reception. Plenty of parking space outside. too My, my was I impressed :)

I recently attended my friends wedding reception at Verandas and I thought it was the perfect venue! Once you walk into the courtyard you feel like you are in a different world. The evening started with cocktails in the coutyard and a jazz band to set the mood. We moved inside to the lower level for dinner and later upstairs for all the traditional reception program including dancing.

Don't bother with big hotels where you have to deal with other parties and hotel guests!! If you are looking for an intimate venue for your family and friends to celebrate  with you, this is the place!

We had our wedding here on 10-03 and we could not ask anymore.
special thanks to Sara, the coordinator, for taking care of us from start to end. the place was beautiful, food was excellent and service was first class.
everyone complimented how good the food was. we chose 4 appetizers and 3 stations. when it comes to NYFC, you don't have to worry about quality of food or service.
block away from the beach so we took some of our pic. on the beach.
it's not as loud as some people say, our wedding started around 6:10pm and we really didn't hear much noise.
if ur getting married, ask for Sara, with her you have nothing to worry.
few glitches during the wedding(our fault), but Sara was on top of everything.
    Food: 10
    Service: 10
    Location: 8
Cost: 8    compared to other places, this place on the average cost.not so cheap but not too expensive either.

I worked for a couple weddings in 2008 at Verandas and really like the space.

With the garden and split level set up  they can handle everything from ceremony, cocktail to reception and keep the flow of your guests running smoothly.

Nancy, Natalie and the team are fantastic and very easy to work with so I recommend you check them out!

This venue created our PERFECT WEDDING!!!  The venue was so comfortable, classy, beautiful, and warm.  I loved the changes in locations for each part of the night, with no driving from our guests required!   I can also not speak more highly of our coordinator, Lauren.  She made sure that every dream we had came true!  Thank you so much!

What a quaint, cozy, two-story, cape-cod style hideaway that overlooks the Pacific?  It is a potential outdoor wedding venue that you would not expect to find on Rosecrans.  The ceremony setting is a beauftiful garden with a koi pond.  Your options with the spacing is up to you, but you can move into the house for the reception in the upstairs of the downstairs.  It seemed that dancing and partying would be best upstairs, where you can also catch a beautiful sunset over the Pacific.

However, this is not my first pick for a outdoor venue because of the industrial buildings located just north of it and the automotive noise because it is right off of Rosecrans.  The garden walls do not provide much of a buffer if  you are to say your vows as cars pass by.

The New York Food Company will cater the event, and no one's stomach will leave unhappy because the food is delicious.

Came here for a wedding and reception. Beautiful wedding, tasty appetizers and drinks, yummy dinner and fun reception (great wedding cake to boot).

This is an ideal location because you have a very romantic ceremony area and cocktails/dancing/cake on the second floor with dinner on the first floor. There is also plenty of parking and a nice hotel nearby.

Things to consider: There is some weird industrial thing next door, however, it does not interfere with the ambience at all; the venue is small in that you could have a 100 person wedding but I doubt if you could have more than that; and the dining area is two-tiered along with areas where you can't see the bride/groom - the layout is something to really consider (along with the fact that there are only one pair of bathrooms with stairs - thus, not accessible).

Otherwise, the place looks great, service is great and it was a beautiful wedding and reception (with great food and drinks).

Btw - I couldn't hear or even see the cars on Rosecrans (the ceremony was in the late afternoon outside on a Saturday)

Where do I even begin? From the moment I stepped into the garden at Verandas I knew this was the place for our wedding! We first met with Sara, who is so funny and fun, and she gave us all the information on everything imaginable - she was super knowledgeable and helpful. Verandas was within our budget so we decided to go for it after meeting with Sara, seeing the place, and reading the reviews online.

Our actual wedding planner was Lauren and she was FANTASTIC. We met every few weeks to go over everything and it was so easy. I didn't have to worry about anything - it was almost so easy it was scary!

My husband was sick the day of the tasting so they let us do a private tasting. WOW! I think Larry(?) is the head chef and let me tell you, and this is coming from a crazy foodie, the food is EXCELLENT. So delicious! We decided on the soup/salad bar (lobster corn bisque and squash soup - AMAZING), pasta bar, and a carving station with the turkey and sirloin with a chipotle honey glaze. Everything was delicious. We also got the chocolate fountain and Verandas still made a little cake for us to do our cutting.

The whole event was perfect. I can't remember a single thing not being to my exact liking. I didn't have to worry one minute of the actual "event" about anything. Lauren and the staff at Verandas took care of everything from the moment the first person walked in until the moment the last person walked out.

They also sent my husband and me off with a huge goodie bag of food which we ate with gusto once we got back to our hotel! Verandas is THE place to get married if you want a smaller, intimate, romantic setting that is also fun and near the beach (great for escaping for a couple minutes after the ceremony for pictures). We got married in the garden and then just walked a few steps into the building for our reception. Also there is plenty of FREE parking.

If you want a worry-free, fun, beautiful wedding then please consider Verandas. They aren't pushy nor pressure you into anything you don't want and work to help you stay within your budget. If I had a choice I would do it all over again exactly the same. I can be very particular and prone to zeroing in on bad moments but there were NONE.

Also, if you want a professional non cheesy DJ please go to Steve Irons at Dj's At Your Service, you will NOT be disappointed. I highly dislike cheesy annoying DJ's and Steve was anything but.

Thank you so much Verandas for making our day so memorable and amazing!

This is the sister venue to La Venta Inn. The ceremony site is good for a small party of approx 40-50 guests. The gazebo area is off centered so either the bride or the groom side will have a lot more chairs than the other side. The winding stairs is a nice touch. Once inside on the top floor the cocktail /dance floor area is very quaint.  The dining area is elongated. This is a good venue for a small ceremony and reception party.

The inside of this place is actually pretty nice, but the view was not as pretty.  There is some industrial plant right behind this place and the noise from the street is pretty loud. Especially those annoying Harley's driving by.  It was ok, but I think noise and view wise you should do La Venta Inn...

We had our New Orleans themed wedding reception here on July 24, 2010. We were torn between Verandas and La Venta, all New York Food Company venues. We are so HAPPY we chose Verandas. The setting was perfect, and we needed the space! The entire team was GREAT! Cortney was an AMAZING person to work with and I would definitely request her, and if you go with La Venta request Lauren. Cortney was so genuine and sweet and just a GREAT person as a whole. The food was amazing and the ENTIRE staff treated EVERY one of our guest superbly. Verandas truly made this Creole girl from New Orleans wedding dreams come TRUE!!!!

I had my wedding here on 10.8.11. Contrary to what other reviews have said about it being small, we had 193 guests and everyone fit perfectly - both outside for the ceremony and inside for the remainder of the evening. I didn't hear or notice ANY outside noise, which was great. The venue feels so intimate and special because it's just you and your guests, and it feels like you are having a big party in a home. Our coordinator, Lauren, was amazing from start to finish and went above and beyond anything and everything we requested. She made suggestions that were better than what we had thought of but without being pushy. She set up everything for us, including the votives, which saved my florist time. They also packed everything up for us and labeled the boxes with our belongings. The food was amazing! To serve 193 people the staff was fast, efficient, and the food was piping hot and so fresh! The staff does a great job of meeting your needs and being attentive while also being discreet. I even saw a server come down with a tray of drink refills for a table (since the bars were upstairs). Now that's service! Did I mention yet how good the food was? They sent us home with extra food! Two entrees with their side dishes and a plate of our appetizers. My husband and I enjoyed these the next day and the day after, since we were too tired to cook. The two bartenders Matt and Christine were great and accommodated our wide selection of beer (we brought in our own alcohol-  another plus to Verandas!) Verandas also has free self-parking, the lot is huge, and guests can leave their car overnight if they have a little too much to drink. I honestly cannot think of one bad thing to say about Verandas, the food, their staff, and the service. I didn't worry about one thing during the rehearsal or the wedding and had a stress-free amazing event. You will not be disappointed with Verandas and all they have to offer.

I like how this is close to Fry's and the beach.  I was also here for a wedding.  The MC got the order of the wedding party wrong and even skipped a couple.  Their bananas foster sucks too.  When the children played with the flower centerpieces, the staff asked them not to take the candle holders (wtf).

This is where dreams come true!! I just had my wedding there on April 2009 and I was amazed by how the staff treated me and my family. There was never a time I felt frustrated and all of our needs were met. But most of all I have to say thank you to the best person who made my wedding happen Lauren..she took care of everything and coordinated the day of. The food was out of this world, and the location was intimate. I will never forget my wedding day and it has to be because it happened at Verandas! BRAVO!!

Not only is the venue spectacular and unique, but the staff is attentive and professional at all times. I loved that we stumbled upon Verandas and were able to spend our reception in a cozy setting that didn't resemble just another hotel's ballroom. I can't say enough about the service we received, as it was above our very high expectations. I wouldn't change a thing about our night at Verandas, except that I wish it hadn't gone by so fast!

We had our wedding here in September 2009 and I have to say it was terrific! Sara was our wedding coordinator and she was the best coordinator ever. She was on top of everything. I consider myself to be very detailed oriented but she thought of some things even before I did! I thought my husband and I would not be eating but she dedicated one waiter just for us and it made us feel like royalty! We were able to eat at our convenience and she made everything flow sooooo smoothly but yet she was incognito the whole time!

We went with the food stations for our wedding and it was worth every penny. We got the pasta station, the salmon, and the carving station. Everyone raved about the food (which is rare at weddings) but the true winner was the pasta station thanks to Sara's recommendation. If you are looking for a small venue that gives you a "house" type of feeling with great food, exceptional service (from Sara) and walking distance to the beach, then this is the place for you! She was very flexible with everything that we wanted and that made our planning less stressful. She made our day so smooth and special if we could do it all over again, we wouldn't change a thing! All my guests said they felt very warm and welcomed which is exactly the feeling that I wanted tor my wedding! Great venue!
