Awesome pizza!!! They use really good ingredients. The specials are pretty unusual at times & yummy. The crust of their pizzas is one of the best I've ever had.
During the summer they had a station in the farmers market.... They bring out the big clay oven and everything.... we tried to get a slice cause it smelled so good....but they had run out of dough..... Shows you how popular and good it is :)
Terrific pizza! There are several things I like about this joint. First, the price of a slice (1/4 pizza) is exactly 25% of the cost of a whole. So you can grab 4 slices of 4 different pies and take it home so there isn't bickering over the toppings.
Also, their ingredients are awesome. Locally sourced (like the toppings from Salumi) Rumour has it their gelato is awesome, too.
Gosh I miss Veraci already and its only been two days. I miss the smell.
Oh yes. Yesssssssss. This place is like prozac in restaurant form. Awesome, flavorful, imaginative handcrafted pizzas cooked to perfection. A genuinely *pleasant and helpful* staff who truly seem to want you to have a good experience. Always a tasty beer on tap. A drawer full of toys and coloring books for my two year old.
If this ain't the best pizza experience in Seattle I'll eat my shoe.
The only downside is that the decor is a little prefab and boring compared to the artistry coming out of their oven. It's not a huge deal but I always notice it.
I've enjoyed their Pizza as outdoor street food for quite a while now. We stopped in the restaurant for a couple slices and a beer the other night. Delicious! Love the thin, crisp crust with the slight char. Perfect amount of sauce too. My only complaint is that the place doesn't have enough seating.
I've had Veraci twice. I had a slice once at the Ballard farmers market and it was very good. Maybe it was because I had already walked 7 miles that day, but the pizza was exactly what I expected from a wood-fired Neapolitan pizza.
Went to the store another time and the pizza disappointed. The pizza was limp, soggy, and flavor-less. That combined with the fact I had to eat it outside on the front curb because of a combination of people saving seats (not Veraci's fault) and a very limited number of seats (totally Veraci's fault) means I won't be going back for a long time.
Great service and great staff. Very nice and helpful.
One of my friends got the last piece of a pizza that was small and he was fine with it. One of the staff members brought out a whole new slice for him with out us saying anything. I don't think we would have noticed but, what a great gesture.
Plenty of pizzas to choose from. In and out quick. Great lunch spot.
I love their pizza, especially the crispy crust. Whenever I see them at a farmers market, I run there before they sell out. The staff is always friendly and provide great service. Now I have made myself hungry thinking about them......time to eat!
Yes! This location that used to house a Domino's is now serving real pizza.
http://www.veracipizza...
the Luna Rosa pizza is great as is the Antipasti.
Definitely one of the better places that I've had pizza in Seattle. Thin crust, Neapolitan pizza. The secret is obviously the wood fired pizza oven that can create a crispy crust. The crust itself is not the most flavorful that I've ever had but it's tasty and the combinations of pizza are excellent. We had the Tuscan and the Amante di Carne and both were delicious. Perfect amounts of toppings and not too much sauce. A little pricey, at about 19 dollars for most pizzas, but overall a high quality pizza that is worth the money. About 6-7 stalls for parking and a few tables inside. Pizza was ready pretty fast on a friday night, took only about 20 minutes from order to ready.
This is the best pizza in Seattle.
Sadly, that's a pretty weak statement, so let me make a stronger one: Veraci's pizza is better than any pizza I had in Italy. This can be partially explained by the fact that I am terrible at finding good food when rendered Yelpless in foreign countries, but still has some implication about Veraci's quality.
I can't really make a comparison to New York pizza, despite being from New York (Long Island, really, which still sort of counts), as the styles are quite different. Veraci's pizza is closer to the European style, which I thought was strictly worse than the New York style until I ate here and realized they are incomparable, like apples and 7.
I think I may be developing an intolerance for lactose, and having to cut back on Veraci will be the worst part.
The pizza was delicious--that's why it gets two stars. Good sized pieces for a steal of a deal.
BUT, the staff seemed awkward all standing in the kitchen/order area. When we walked in 3 people asked how we were doing and immediately asked what we wanted in a very unsettling way. It was as if they didn't know how to relax in there...Not my idea of an enjoyable eating experience.
Good for ordering out, but not for going in and/or eating there.
Definitely the best pizza to order by phone, but if you want a good dining time with class, comfort, and delicious authentic pizza, go to Via Tribunali.
Seattle has undergone a little bit of a pizza renaissance over the past 10 years... From nothing worth mentioning to Tutta Bella and a few other very good spots... Now Veraci has taken it to a new high, evocative of even the best pizza in New Haven. Apparently they've been offering travelling pizza at the farmers markets around the area for several years (I discovered them at Ballard Farmer's Market), but opened their first shop within the past year.
If you like old-world, thin crust pizza, this is TOTALLY worth the trip. In addition to the pizza, we had two delicious salads and found the people working there delightful.
I'm surprised there isn't more buzz about Veraci... Try it out before the line is out the door...
I've been here a few times and have been very satisfied with the pizza. Its hand tossed thin crust, and baked in a wood fired oven. Wow. I didn't know it could be so good, especially when it comes out of the oven bubbling hot and is done right. Try the specials - I had one recently with special "salumi" salami and good mozzarella and it was awesome. Bonus points go to the staff because they are prompt, really nice, and they know how to run a restaurant that is kid friendly. The cashier saw my 3yr old daughter and pointed her in the direction of the "toy drawer" which was the perfect distraction while we waited for some excellent pizza. I will definitely be coming back for more great pizza.
We were pleasantly surprised to find above average pizza at Veraci recently. The sauce was just a little sweet for my taste but the crust was great. The range of toppinng they had was very adequate and the restaurant was clean and well staffed. I would say they need a little help on the sauce, which is more personal taste, but everything else was well done and in a good amount of time.
Seriously delicious and I'm not even a big pizza person. Wood fired FTW.
They also have homemade gelato, san pellegrino & izze, and friendly employees. I came here just because I happened to be in the neighborhood, but it's well worth a journey to Ballard.
Came here again. I love how you can halve the pizzas and get two different flavors per pie. We got 2 pizzas, and had 4 different varieties. Very fresh ingredients, light crust, and you don't feel gross after consuming half a pie. You can't go wrong with any of the pizzas containing sausage or pepperoni!
Though the homemade gelato looks tempting, it's entirely skippable.

This pizza is the best pizza I have ever had in Seattle. I discovered them at the Ballard market and now am so glad they opened a permanent place. Great variety of generous sized slices and whole pies....awesome salads, and delicious gelato as well. Manny's on tap and bottled Italian beers. Bottles of wine for $20 (hard to find out). Quick and friendly service.
Did I mention it is the best pizza I have ever had in Seattle?
I hate to write such a great review because I am scared the next time I go the line will be all the way up to the zoo. :) Enjoy!
Good:
-thin crust pizza doesn't make me feel like I'm eating hundreds of carbs
-quality ingredients
-QUICK. Your pizza is done in 10 minutes, no lie.
Bad:
-can't think of any right now. Well, the price is a bit to swallow. Whatever.
I had a food-gasm today at the Ballard Farmer's Market. We wandered around smelling. tasting, people-watching and wound up looking for food and decided that a long line of people must know something we didn't.
YUM! The crust is really thin and freshly made, the pizzas are cooked in a wood burning oven and the girl told us they cook in 90 seconds because the oven is so hot.
I had the tuscan which was sauce, artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, kalamata olives and goat cheese... ahhhhhh... yeeeessssss.... 1 slice was about $5 and is one fourth of the pizza. Mitchell had something with sausage that I tasted which was also divine.
This might have to be our new Sunday ritual.
Having tried both the restaurant location on Market Street and the traveling pizza oven at the Phinney Farmers Market, I'm completely smitten with Veraci Pizza.
The easiest way to get a quick, tasty meal (both at the restaurant and at a farmers market) is to order one of the specials by the slice; they are already prepared and take just 2-3 minutes in the oven to reheat. I've found that two slices -- half a pizza -- more than satisfies for a hungry young man like me. At the restaurant location, they'll bring the pizza right to your table when it's ready.
The thin crust is just right: rigid enough to hold in one hand, but not stiff or brittle like a cracker. It tastes great, too: crispy and partly blackened around the outside, but softer and chewier toward the inside. The toppings are really good, too. I recommend choosing a variety with tomato sauce, or else the flavor might be skewed toward whatever other toppings there are. I tried one variety with mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes (but no sauce) and it wasn't quite right. My only complaint about the pizza itself is that my second slice isn't warm enough by the time I finish my first slice. Those thin pizzas don't retain heat for very long.
The restaurant location impresses with sleek, light-colored faux wood furniture and -- this is important -- air conditioning. Granted, improving upon an outdoor, mobile pizza oven wouldn't be hard, but it looks like some effort went into this place.
Unfortunately, the beverage selection doesn't match the pizza selection. They carry a few wines and beers, none of which appeals to me, plus a cooler case with bottled water, Coke, Diet Coke, Izze, and Limonata. I like Izze, but beer with my pizza would have been ideal.
Look out, Tutta Bella -- Veraci could outdo you with equally good pizza and superior value.
Really good thin crust pizza in lots of flavors and sauces, but the prices are kind of steep. I guess we are helping them pay off their badass pizza oven. It works really well. I wonder how a good sourdough pizza would taste in there. That oven could make a really good lasagna and some baked potatoes with roasted garlic would be great.
Our family loves Veraci pizza. We first fell for Veraci last year at the Phinney Ridge Farmers Market. I looked forward to Fridays througout the summer because we would convene at the famers market, pick up a pizza+slices, other assorted fresh produce, and ice cream from the vendor next to Veraci and head home to enjoy. The crust is perfection. The flavor combinations delicious. For me, this pizza cannot be beat in Seattle.
We have also really enjoyed the Ballard restaurant location to fill our pizza cravings outside of the Famers Market season.
Oh Veraci, you are my new favorite pizza joint in Seattle.
I was introduced to Veraci by my good friend Trent who had been waxing about it's virtues for quite sometime. I finally was able to meet him there this week and I'm sooo pissed at myself for never having gone there before.
The place is very neighborhoody, if that can be a word and is very comfortable on the inside and the sight of the woodburning brick oven immediately makes your mouth water and your stomach rumble. All the employees are very pleasant and nice, how could you not be in a place that produces such pleasure?
Trent bought 4 slices for us to try initially and although they all were pretty damn good the Salumi Mole was sooo good that we got another slice of it, as well as some others. He threw down. I can't describe the flavor really of the Mole, except for that it was a oral-gasm of epic proportions. The crust with the smokey flavor to it from the oven really brings out the taste of the pizza and is just perfectly cooked. They really have a good thing going here. It makes me yearn even more to visit Salumi, but alas I work during the week and there is no way I can go there and wait in line and make it back in time.
I can't wait to go back to Veraci when I have a chance to drive over the bridge, hopefully next time I wont have to sit on my side while the bridge is up while parked next to some lady playing loud ass Mexican music.
Yes. You read it right.. 5 stars for a pizza joint that I'm unsure on how to pronounce. The pizza was on point. Ordered the 1/2 Florentina and Spinaci and the Deluxe Pizza. MMMM.... 15 min of golden silence as we chomped down on yummy thin crusted pizza. They also make great Caesar salad. Lots of parmesian cheese chunks.. The wait can be a bitch, but well worth the wait.
Oh my god, I think I've finally found a pizza place that makes amazing pizza. We're not talking regular, boring pizza here...we're talking amazing, delicious, fantastic pizza. And if you read my reviews, you'll know this is something that I've had difficulty ever finding, and the fact that it is in Ballard blows my mind!
Went with a slice of their Fresh Mushroom pizza and it was to die for - awesome sauce, great thin crust, plenty of mushrooms, and just the right amount of cheese. The pizza was light, yet filling...and just overall great. I could eat that kind of pizza all day!
I also had a small caesar, which was gigantic and super tasty.
Minus one star for the setup...after we ordered our pizza and salads, we sort of stood around wondering if they would bring the food to us at a table, or leave it at the counter and call our names. Somehow, they did a combination of both...which was really confusing. Also, while my slice of pizza was fantastic, it also got cold really fast. There I was, wanting to savor the amazingness that was this slice of pizza....but I was unable to because it cooled down really fast. Heat the slice in the oven slightly longer, please!
I will definitely be getting pizza from here again...!
When I moved in across from Veraci's current location a dominos was there. Dominos..far from exciting. But hey, it's pizza, cheap and close (too close).
Then they promptly closed.
Then came Atlantic Pizza, oh hey Pizza again. Just cause Dominos couldn't make it here doesn't mean this isn't a great location for a pizza place.
Not sure how long Atlantic made it but..it wasn't long (important note..their pizza sucked).
Then the signs for Veraci went up. "Coming Soon" Oh great another soon to fail pizza place..but wait. There is hope? You say Veraci already successfully sells their delicious pizza at street fairs? And wherever they go a line always follows? Hmm..there is hope..maybe?
Veraci pizza is game changing. Did you know their pizza cooks in under 3 minutes? (Correct me someone if I'm wrong but I think it takes about 2.5 minutes). Because their pizza is so delicious you will of course have to wait 15 minutes in line then another 10 for them to get to your pie. Great things come to those who wait. Every second you wait for this pizza is worth it.
Hands down, best pizza in Seattle. Nothing comes close. Order anything, if it doesn't make you happy you have no soul.
Went to Veraci for dinner - a smallish joint with sorta ikea interior. Counter service, but good counter service. On the whole every thing was good.
Fast pizzas - thin crust - crunchy on the edges, softer in the center. Fresh ingredients - pretty traditional ingredient mix up.
I liked it. I'll be back
I have only nice things to say about Veraci's pizza. You can buy it by the slice. They have a great variety of pies available by the slice at dinner time. The crust is thin, but puffy and crispy (not soggy, like the crust at a couple of snobbily "authentic" pizzerias in town). The toppings (sausage, pepperoni, etc., are of very high quality). The tomato sauce is plenty spicy and complex. The prices are slightly lower than at gourmet or New York style competitors.
The staff are friendly, engaged, and savvy. On a weeknight, you can usually get a table without a wait, and the pie is usually ready before you can finish your salad.
My only gripe? The "gelato" is utterly disappointing. The vanilla tasted like salty butter, and the chocolate wasn't much better. Eat dinner here; hit the gelato place in Fremont for dessert!
Yes, the crust is thin... and it's also very tasty.
If you're a 'nea' pizza fan, than you'll probably be very happy with the goods here. If you like gourmet pizza, chances are you'll find this to your liking.
I'm not one to discriminate against crust size and I just don't get it when people freak out over thick and thin. Does it taste good? Yes? Well... good then. I'm gon' eat it.
I'd highly recommend the mushroom pie if they've got it on special- lots of chantrelles and crimini atop... and the pesto pizza (Green Dahlia) is also fantastic, with lots of pesto, red onions, Mozzerella, and tomatoes. The sausage pie was pretty good, but the other ones really knocked my socks off so I can't really recall what it tasted like. Oh, and the service that went along with all of this fabulousness was spot on too!
A bit pricey, but it's right on par with all other mid to high end pizza places in Seattle. And if you're still wanting 1980s pizza prices these days, there's a Pizza Hut up on 85th and 15th that'll probably do ya right if you're in the 'Llard.
Delicious pizza, nothing like back in NY but It's Good,it's in it's own category good! I stop in on my way to the Stone Garden and had the "amor'e" that made me asking for A-more'.
The slice consist of artisan sliced sausage, fresh mozzarella, and three other cheeses direct from Pike place, Beachers!! They top it up off with green onion and oil that rest on crisp thin crust that came out of the wood fire oven. Everything was fresh, local and Delicious.
I am in love with the tasty, thin crust, wood-fired pizza at Veraci!
They sell pizza by the slice (and they're fairly large slices) as well as whole pizzas. My dining companion and I opted for a whole pizza, and the staff was happy to do a half and half for us, so we had half a Green Dahlia (pesto, tomatoes, mozzarella and red onion) and half a Salume (pepperoni, salami, black olives, provolone, red onions and olive oil). The Green Dahlia portion was delicious -- so fresh tasting that I could have eaten slice after slice, but stopped after the second one. (I'm not a pepperoni eater, so I didn't have any of the Salume side, but was assured that it was fantastic, as well.) I really like that they have a number of creative vegetarian pizza options, and can't wait to go back to try them all.
After our pizza, we splurged on some tasty gelato for dessert. I opted for the vanilla, while my companion had half a cup of vanilla, and Theo chocolate for the other half. The gelato was creamy and wonderful.
The seating area isn't the best. For a tiny shop, they make do with the space they have, so there aren't a ton of tables for dining in, and they haven't done much to spiff the place up. You definitely aren't going to bring a date here to overwhelm that special someone with the decor, though if said individual is a foodie, he or she might be willing to overlook it in favor of the food. As someone else has mentioned, it's just a tiny step up from cafeteria-syle chairs & tables at Veraci.
The staff was pretty fantastic when we were in -- very friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be returning!
Great pizza. I wasn't sure where to go but Veraci hit the spot. It's high end Pizza so a little expensive, but high quality also.
Favorite pizza in Seattle. Yes, it's a little pricey, but so worth it. The primavera pizza is loaded with spring veggies. The crust is perfect: light and crispy. LOVE.
I'm giving them a 3 star only for the following reasons:
1. Almost too thin - I think the cook was about to blow a gasket from using the rolling pin too hard. While I appreciate the thinnest of pizza, you need to balance the amount of sauce and toppings to ensure that your pie isn't a soggy mess in the center where its least cooked. Me get soggy pie - twice.
2. Is that oregano in your pizza or are you trying to get rid of me? Maybe it was just this batch of sauce, but the both of my pies were loaded with oregano. In the sauce, on the pizza..... was it in the crust? I'm tempted to get another one randomly during the week to see if it is still the same oregano-bomb.
3. Just a bit too pricey given the two above
Not a bad option for the area, and certainly convenient. I do still like Tutta Bella better for pure balance of ingredients. Plus Tutta Bella's salads...
The cheese on the Margherita here was a highlight however.
Not really good for groups more than 4 or 6 on Thu/Fri/Sat/Sun - not enough space to sit more than 4... maybe 6 at one combined table. Parking lot is limited, you can find street parking but its not necessarily guaranteed.
3-star grasshopper - pending further review of your sauce
Best pizza in Seattle. Hands down.
No need for a long, drawn out review. Just go there. It's so damn good. You can get slices or a whole pie. Anyone who asks about pizza in Seattle, I'll be pointing them in Veraci's direction. I just wish they were open a little later (close at 9:00).
Yummy thin crust. With the recent explosion of the Neapolitan pie, Veraci's is right up there.
I had the Alfredo Chicken and Sopressata pie. The crust was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside just likes it's supposed to be. The ingredients were fresh and tasty and the service was friendly and fast (try take out if you can).
I haven't put together a Yelp list yet, but if I were going to rank gourmet Nea-like pizza joints it would go like this:
1. Serious Pie (You can't faze Tom Douglas)
2. Veraci's
3. Via Tribunali
4. Tutta Bella
Sorry Veraci's, but you're a close second to the creative flavors of Serious Pie...and that's not a bad thing at all.
Just what I needed, another reason not to leave Ballard. This is an AWESOME addition to Ballard's bounty of pizza joints, and (fortunately or not) adds significantly to the already near-inescapable gravitational pull of the 98107, otherwise known as the Lutefisk Event Horizon.
I had the 'Amante di Carne' and it was everything I dreamed it could be.
Via Tribunali, eat your heart out.
After enjoying the delicious wood-fired pizza at Veraci's portable outdoor kitchens in Fremont, Ballard and the Sculpture Park, I'm pleased to write a review on their terrific permanent location in Ballard. This pizza is soooo good. The crust is thin, crispy and tasty! I had a slice (gigantic slice) of the Napoli with garlic, artichoke, salami in red sauce. It was perfect. The service is impeccable and the owner is probably one of the nicest guys I've ever met - genuinely.
The remote locations are still in action, and growing. I'd love to see one in Seattle Center - I'm sure us theater folks would keep the ovens busy! Until then, this new pizza joint is a 5-star dependable place when I get a craving for the perfect slice!
Although Veraci is light years better than Tutta Bella, and is firmly on track to topple the marginally inferior Via Tribunali within just a couple of years, I still maintain that the pizza at Primo Grill in Tacoma, Washington is "best in class" for Neapolitan-style pizza in the Seattle - Tacoma area and well worth the drive if you're freakishly particular about your thin crust pizza (or unwilling to spend the money to fly over to Mozza in Los Angeles or John's in New York City).
http://www.yelp.com/bi...
Something kind of wonderful...and pretty close to my house.
I keep flirting with the guy serving the pizza. The smell of cheese, that lovely pizza crust and all of those inventive toppings is making me crazy!!
So glad I don't have to brave the cold rain at the farmer's markets to get my Veraci on!
