As an actor who's had photos done in both NYC and L.A., and having actually worked in a large photo lab in NYC, Lava is truly one of the best in the business. The fact that she's fun to work with is combined with getting amazing quality photos at an affordable price. I loved my photo shoot and the results have gotten me work.

Lava (the photog behind venusrising) will immediately put you at ease with her laid back style. Don't worry about feeling like a jerk while she clicks away - you'll probably end up having a great conversation, and come out the other side with pics that capture you naturally and beautifully. Lava's unique eye for portraiture is flavored by photojournalism and she has a way of discovering you at your best and most real. Also, her prices are pretty awesome and you get the disc - no strings attached!

Lava Alapai is a local photographer and actor in Portland by the way of Honolulu, Los Angeles, NY, and Maryland where she studied photojournalism and theatre. In Portland, Lava is a founding member of Manyhats Collaboration, a theatre company that produces new work, and is a freelance photographer specializing in portraiture.
