We visited the local maritime museum today and really enjoyed ourselves. It's a small museum, maybe 2,000 sq. ft., but it's packed with beautiful works. The enthusiastic volunteer staff guided us through the museum, introduced us to Dutch & English maritime artwork, as well as the numerous handmade models for sale at prices ranging from $20 - $1,000, many being sold for fundraising purposes to support the museum. In addition, there were model makers on-hand to explain the intricacies of model ship building. A great extra - periodically classes are offered teaching kids (and adults) about model ship building, including how to build ships in a bottle for hobby & gifts. The museum visit is free, but they recommend a $3 donation to support the cause - a good deal.
