This location has moved to the charming Plaza District on NW 16th St. I'm waiting to give it 5 stars after a second visit. I went once to the NW 23rd location to shop their vintage selection and was really pleased with both my finds and the prices.
They had a spectacular grand opening for their new location, complete with a Rockabilly Fashion Show.
I went to get a haircut yesterday, basically the same cut I've been getting for a year or so, but the difference was that the stylist (Mazey) listened and gave me exactly what I wanted and added a few things that made it even better. THAT is what a stylist is *supposed* to do. The music is fun, and the stylists seem to actually like their jobs.
The vintage clothes are still rocking, and the prices are unbelievable.

I am first timer of the Velvet Monkey and loved it.  Thanks to Rachel L.'s yelp, I asked for the stylist Mazey and got the haircut I asked for along with a great color!
