I love coming here.

The atmosphere is awesome. It's a good park to play paintball. I like how they have rentals for those who don't have their own equipment. I also like how there's food and beverages for everyone at a decent price.

I also like how you can bring your dog.

The downside is, it's in RAMONA, the hottest place in San Diego in the summer!

I really, really hated paintball...but this is one of those cases of, "don't hate the player, hate the game."

The Velocity Paintball facility is pretty dope, if getting shot with gelatinous nuggets of Sherman Williams is your thing. They have like, 8 different parks for your wannabe, war torn desires. From inflatable bunkers, to wooded areas...these guys have quite the array of courses to choose from. For $46, you get to shoot around for the day, and they provide you with protection, a gun, and plenty of paintballs.

The reason I hated it, was because I sucked. I got lit the fuck up. I also didn't research the proper attire, so I wore a pair of shorts and a sleeveless shirt. Lot's of skin exposed...which means that on Wednesday morning...3 full days after my adventure...I still have open wounds on my body. That shitz hurt!

The staff was pretty darn friendly and they don't treat you like a waste of space if you've never played before. Me and my group of rooks were probably the only people that don't spend every single weekend at the park. There were some total nerds up there, who have probably never touched a woman...but then know how to color you up within 7 seconds.

+ paintball, in general, is pretty damn good exercise.
+ good rental prices (unless you're too cool for that, a.k.a. have your own equipment)
+ things you rent (guns, backup pod harness, masks, etc.) are for the most part clean and not smelly considering what they're put through.
+ good hot dogs and burgers during the lunch break
+ referees are really helpful and friendly
+ they offer private group play, so you can bring your own group and only play against each other
+ a variety of fields so you can have a different experience every time you switch fields throughout the day.  you can supposedly play a different one every game and not repeat fields in a day, but i always get tired before that happens
+ shooting people you love releases tension and makes for good bonding.

- it's hot as fuck.  there needs to be a paintball field somewhere on the coast.
- getting hit in the head hurts like hell.

if you have never been paintballing before, take my advice - buy gloves.  they are about $40 and you can buy them at a velocity store or some other paintball place (not at the field, i don't think).  my first time, i got shot in the thumb.  my thumb felt like it exploded and it bled everywhere even though there was only a teeny tiny cut to show for it.  even if you rent everything else, if you plan to ever paintball more than once, buy the gloves.  you can thank me later.

This past saturday i had the opportunity to go paintballing for the first time and I have to say it was a BLAST!  we went up to Velocity Paintball up in Ramona...it's right off Dye road right as you come into Ramona.  Went with a group of 11 and we had 2 referees to help us on each course.  they set us up with rental equipment which included the gun, mask and the belt that held your back up paintballs.  We suited up and hit the courses...split into 2 teams.  courses only run an average of about 5 minutes because that is all it takes to annihilate the other team!  This is a super fast, adrenaline charged, SWEATY, fun sport.  I managed to avoid being hit but I will be sure to go back there again to give it another try.  the referees were friendly, knowledgeable about the equipment and were there to show you a good time.  The courses were fun and were everything from an inflatable course, spools, to a more wooden tree course.
and to top it off the little food vendor they had there serving burgers and dogs was awesome.  the hot dog was super yummy ( i could have just been starving)..but it was good.
All in all a really fun experience and i'll be putting together an outing for my work very soon!

It's a good park to play, i have played at this park several times and the only reason i have is because it's the closest park to me. The only thing about it is that some of the fields look the same as others.  Ref's are not dicks, that's good.  They have a few great hyper ball fields that are fun to play on.  They have been really awesome to us when we plan a private group.
