Their Freakin Awesome! I love them I went in without an appointment to get my muffler fixed and they took me right away and finished in 20 minutes! Wow I have never been so happy at a auto repair place. Clean and comfy waiting area very friendly staff! He answered all my silly questions and even put air in my tires. The muffler and labor came to a very fair price and a 1yr warranty. I will be back if I have anymore car trouble!
So I found out my flexor on my car was torn away from the muffler. I had put off getting this fixed for awhile. I finally got tired of the vibrations and loud noise. I went there on a Saturday, two hours before closing. I pulled up in front of the garage and was immediately welcomed. They pulled my car into the garage lifted it up and showed me what was wrong, which I already knew. They said they would have it fixed in 20 minutes. The price was $80 which wasn't bad at all.
I was sitting in the waiting room watching the sox game on the LCD t.v. and rifling through the TimeOut when I was notified my car was ready! It only took 15 minutes. I paid with my credit card and signed a few sheets and was gone.
They gave me a year warranty and told me if I lost my receipt, not to worry, because all of the info was saved into their database.
I live in wicker park I left at 3:15 pm and was back home by 4!
I will soon need some new brakes and yes I will be going here to get my car serviced!
Agreeing with all the other reviewers! These guys are fast (in & out in less than 30 minutes with no appointment), cheap (catalytic converter on a Honda plus the first half of an exhaust pipe, installed for $150), and friendly.
I usually bring a guy along when I need an auto repair to keep myself from getting screwed, but do not feel the need at this place. They let me walk under my car & showed me what was bad, and - more importantly - what was good. They didn't act surprised when I asked them to bang on the CC for me to hear that it was bad. They showed me what it looked like after it was done. And best of all - the problem was eliminated, and I have a nice warranty.
I have also had great luck at the V&Sons in Joliet. (I actually like that one better, as it's close to a Dairy Queen so you can go for a treat while you wait!)

I echo what everyone else is saying. Honest people, quality work, and good prices. My exhaust hanger broke and they welded up two new hangers instead of just replacing the one. Only cost $25 and took less than 30 min! They even guarantee their work for 90 days. I'd go back there anytime and would recommend them to everyone I know.

My experience here was absolutely beautiful. My catalytic converter was stolen and they were able to replace it for $110 (parts, labor, and a warranty) in about 45 minutes. The office was insanely clean for an auto shop, they had tea and coffee, and most importantly, there were no creepy pictures of semi-naked women on the walls (apparently a decoration staple at every other place I've been to). I will go back here in a heartbeat for any other brake and muffler needs (they also changed my oil for $22).
EDIT: My car hates me, and something was going wrong with the brakes. I brought my car in, tried to describe the problem as best I could (I'm amazed they didn't try to reject me as a customer when I described my car as "slidey") and then were willing to discuss the problem over the phone with my father, a former mechanic, just so he could be sure they were doing a thorough job. They even gave me the broken part at the end so I could show it to him myself. Again, super inexpensive, and the mechanic chased me into the parking lot because he had forgotten to tell me I needed a realignment.
I also thought their service was top-notch. At another garage, I was quoted $200 (and hours of work) for a complete muffler/tailpipe replacement for my muffler which was literally dangling off my car. So I brought my car to Velasquez & Sons today, and they had me in and out of there in 20 minutes and for only a fraction of what I was quoted at the other place. Plus, the folks there were super friendly. I'll recommend this place to everybody now.

This place is truly impressive - hard working, ingenious guys who do top-notch work in a comparatively small shop. I took my car here because I thought I had a problem, and they quickly pointed out my exhaust was fine. Thanks to the other Yelp reviewers I found this shop and I didn't end up paying for unnecessary work.

i am impressed with the speed, quality, price, and friendliness of these guys. The owner bring his son to me at my barbershop. don't spend your money at one of these large franchises that will send your money out of the city. go spend it at this family owned muffler shop. they do great work. i will send everyone i know to these guys. they have a cool setup also.

Exhaust connecting flange and bolts rusted thru my truck basically severing the last 3 feet of exhaust pipe along with muffler. I unhooked it and drove on over to Velasquez & Sons after consulting this site the nite before. They repaired it and I was out in less than 10 minutes minus $20.
Honest quick work done at a very fair price, don't know how well they do with anything beyond exhaust repair, but I'd recommend this place to anyone -- even my mother. Will take any future exhaust issues only here.

Need a muffler or brake job? Velasquez and Sons is the place to go to for affordable rates. The service is great and most importantly the prices are reasonable. Dont be fooled by other shops using the Velasquez names. This family owned business is an empire spreading to the surrounding states.
