Veggie Era is my favorite Vegan restaurant!! Their food is so good. It's great for first timers too, because the food tastes just like the real thing. They don't serve weird, experimental, crazy dishes. They also make their own vegan desserts which are to die for. I have so many favorite dishes, but I usually get the mushroom chickenless, the chickenless fried rice, sweet and sour chickenless, lemongrass chickenless, beefless and broccoli...Okay I can't choose just a few! You have to try it for yourself. They also have good fresh drinks like honeydew.
I don't know why it says they're closed. I went not too long ago. They WERE closed when they were remodeling, but that was a while back.
Please give it a try! It's very healthy and delicious :) -

I've been going to Veggie Era since before it was VE, and I was still in high school years ago at UHS. I can never, ever get enough of this place. I moved out of state a few years ago, and I drool and get the shakes whenever I land at the airport, because I know some veggie-meat skewers or Orange Chickenless will be awaiting me. I used to imagine that the owners were actually anti-vegetarians and were just screwing with us, and it would be revealed that it was actually meat - but thankfully, that's not the case. This truly is a vegetarian Mecca.
Seriously, this is the place to go in a zombie invasion. I could live in this place, while battling the undead at night, then curling up with VE's delicious soups and entrees to fuel my strength and rage to cleanse the world of cannibalistic monsters.
Conversely, if I were on death row for accidentally slaying a creature that turned out to not be a zombie, but unfortunately a real person, a full-course VE meal is what I would request. It would be the best way to go - happily satiated with fake meat and vegan cake before I should be fried and sent to the vegetarian afterlife. -

This place is not "closed" It is just operating under a new name. Now it's called the loving hut. Same yummy food, new look.
I don't want people to think this place is closed and stop going. It's so Yummy!

I came here for upon my wife's birthday wishes. After reading all the yelp reviews, I was relieved to see I could trick my stomach into eating pseudo-meat.
The setup is a little strange. It's not really a sit-down restaurant where the waitresses completely serve you. You get your own menu and order up on the counter. They'll bring you the stuff afterwards.
So we ordered the highly-touted orange chicken, which truly delivered. The sauce has great flavor and the pineapples were the perfect complement to the fake chicken. We also ordered the mongolian fake beef. After eating this dish, I realized that there is no way in hell you can duplicate the taste and texture of beef. No restaurant has ever been able to duplicate it, which goes to show you beef is really God's meat. Nevertheless, the sauce is good, but the fake beef chunks are just strange.
Since I'm Indonesian, I HAD to order the Indonesian Fried rice. When I saw what they brought to our table, I thought: "This ain't no Indo fried rice; are they making shit up?" For one, it's red and it tastes like they put tomato ketchup on it. I don't mind the flavor, just name it something else please. It's an insult to the Indo fried rice name.
The strange thing I thought was what they had on TV. I was hoping to watch part of the Olympic coverage on Channel 4. When I looked up, they had this strange channel up. It's called the Vegetarian Network. Is there such a thing?!?!?! It basically promotes going Vegan and the reasons (on a global level) why you should become one. When my wife told me she will go back here in the near future, I could only tell her: "please find a vegan friend who will go with you". -

Hmmm, So much good food here. The name will pretty much tell you what its about. It is Asian style and they have a lot of flavor to offer....
The following is everything that I can definitely recommend to anyone who is, or is not a vegeterian or Vegan. The food is really really good. The portions are small so its usually 5 orders per visit for me. The texture is quite impresive and sometimes weird after years of not eating real meat or chicken. Don't know what is up with their website and the menu, but if I remember correctly:
Crispy Fried Wontons
Mongolian Beefless & Chickenless A++
Garlic Beefless
Sweet & Sour Chickenless
General Tzos Spicy Chickenless & mushrooms A++
Rice & Noodles are both good.
Chickenless Curry - A big portion of what would be a breast - YUMMY!
and a few more main items on their menu that I've also tried and are delicious.
Fruit drinks are good too: Mango, Honey Dew, Peach Tea, Thai Ice Tea with Soy milk of course..
Really good place, small and simple, too bad its a litlle too far for me big sad face :( -

***Okay I upgraded them to 4 star cause the owner sent me a message & was really freakin nice. I'm sorry I eat meat & like it and will try to go Vegan at least once a month. :)***
The food is good but if youre not Vegan be forewarned they are not playing in here. they are hardcore PETA style about their meat consumption. Their motto is MEAT is MURDER!!!
the food is good & quite flavorful the only thing I didn't care for was some banana leaf wrapped appetizer that was on the specials menu. It was not good. We ordered the food to go since we had seen the place & were curious.
All their pamphlets & stuff almost had a cult like feel. And the lady seem to be horrified when I told her I wasn't Vegan or a Vegetarian...(she asked and I wasn't gonna lie). As I took my food she also reminded me that being Vegan was also better for the enviroment. I might have given them 4 stars but that banana leaf appetizer was really icky and the wait was really long.I know it's cooked to order but it was a long cook time. -

I am a vegan and am always happy when I find a vegan place to eat nearby, which is kind of rare because I live in the Inland Empire. This place has standard Chinese food made vegan. I really like the orange chickenless and the sweet and sour chickenless, which to me are more like the meaty version than anything else I've ever had. I've also had the chow mein (am I spelling that right?), which was pretty tasty. The baked goods here are also great, and they have a nice shelf of harder-to-find vegan pantry items and snacks like soy jerky.
I also kinda like how this place is a little more in-your-face about being vegan. I get kind of annoyed by vegan places that won't even mention the V word (like the Veggie Grill). Loud and proud, that's my philosophy.
The only complaint I have is that there aren't actually a lot of vegetables in the dishes. In the sweet and sour chickenless, for example, you might have a few pineapple chunks and snap peas, but not enough. Even in the chow mein, there weren't as many as I was hoping for.
With that said, I have been here with several non-vegans, and they also seemed to like it, so it might be a good place to go if you have one of those people in your life. -

Veggie Era makes Orange Chicken that makes you forget how much it sucks to be vegan sometimes. Now I'm all for veganism, so rah rah and all of that, but going to school wayy out in Claremont gets a little draining sometimes. Having such a delicious vegan restaurant so close to me, however, sure helps soften the blow.
The entrees are all very well sized, and the mock meats taste sufficiently real (but not so real you're left doubting what you just ate). And maybe it's just me, but I think their whole "supreme master" thing or whatever is hilarious and great, and never get tired of it. I'm personally fond of any cult that thinks veganism is a key part of getting closer to god (go seventh day adventists!) and out of all the "era" restaurants i've been to, like Golden Era in San Francisco, Veggie Era is so far my favorite.
If you have a big appetite or maybe a family or something, I'd advise getting a tray of something as opposed to individual orders, especially of the Orange Chicken, which is my favorite dish and something that has been relatively difficult to find since i've been vegetarian. The large trays can feed 8-10 people and are also good for any not so fancy parties. The thai iced tea is also great but asking for coconut milk instead of soy milk makes the tea tons better. Going with thai iced tea/coffee is a better choice than going with their desserts, especially since a lot of their desserts are pretty rudimentary. Not bad, but nothing that an entry level vegan couldn't make at home.
Also, does anyone else think their little selection of vegan treats off to the side of the store is really cute? -

I can't believe it's no longer Veggie Era!!! I haven't been here in too long & I miss it dearly. I'm definitely going to try the new Loving Hut, sounds cute. I just hope they still have my FAVORITE chickenless curry! I actually planned a lunch date with a friend for this Friday, so I'm really excited to see the new environment!
Anyway, my rating is based off of the old Veggie Era. I loooved feeling like I was eating an actual full meal. As a vegetarian, I never felt satisfied, probably because I was a high school student who didn't know how to cook. I pretty much considered being a vegetarian just not eating meat - so my meals would consist of cereal, cheetos or chips & guacamole, lol. I'm not longer veg, but this place really opened my eyes to how fulfilling & delicious the vegetarian/vegan life can be.
I'm excited to go back for a visit. I may even go veg again someday soon... -

This restaurant has gone through many incarnations since it first opened five or six years ago. It's gone from dine-in or takeout to fast food and back to dine-in again. It's gotten much nicer over the years, too, as they've slowly redecorated and turned it into a real restaurant instead of just a strip mall fast food joint. The food is pretty good, though it can get a little greasy here and there. Their prices have gotten higher throughout the years, too, but it's still fairly reasonable. I'm a big fan of their sweet & sour chick'n and the beef, pork and chick'n satay skewers. The orange chicken is also pretty good. If you get takeout, be sure to ask for rice if you want it, because if you just order the entree without saying you want rice, all you'll get is the entree, no rice. I made that mistake once. It kind of sucked.

Veggie Era gets 5 stars not because it's food is great (it's really good) but because of all the factors that came into play.
Given that the restaurant is in Upland (pretty conservative town) my dad and I expected there to be a handful of people inside. But when we went in, we saw at least 20 Hare Krishna's there and about a dozen others with their families, etc. I was stunned! We ordered our food (Broccoli Beef-less, Mongolian Beef-less, and brown rice, all for under $20) and got it pretty quickly. It wasn't bad! Definitely didn't taste like meat, but why would you strive for that at a veggie restaurant, anyways? Service in general was pretty good and they had a large TV on the back wall showing various pro-veggie campaigns.
I'm very happy that a place like this exists in Upland because at least you know chances are everyone inside votes liberally. Plus, it's such a good break from the usual chains or burger joints that you find everywhere. I'll definitely go back with some friends! -

Always a nice treat! All the food is prepared by hand from scratch so it might take a while but its so worth it! Truly world class saitan served so many ways! Even non vegetarians seem to love it.. its an oasis of niceness in the hell of Upland! I love the vegan TV and the pamphlets..anything that might have people think about benefits of vegan foods is all good to me!! were bringing all of our friends here one by one and thus converting the world to vegan foods! .. I recommend all of the chickenless and the fishless and shrimpless are also divine! try to get in on the lunch special as its an incredible deal! We so love it!!

Veggie Era serves vegan asian cuisine. The employees are friendly and the food is for the most part great. Any of the fried rices are good (especially the Chick'nless fried rice). Other favorites include the chicken curry and lemon grass chicken. All dishes are made with fake meats, tofu or combinations of vegetables. I would recommend this place to anyone, even meat eaters usually enjoy it. It can get on the pricy side depending how much you order, but they have a pretty affordable lunch special. I upped my rating to 5 stars mainly because you can't really find anything like Veggie Era in Upland and the surrounding areas.

Great Vegan food in an area that is devoid of many veggie choices. I have tried most items on the menu and have been impressed with all of them. The Thai Iced Tea with Coconut Milk is especially wonderful and is the closest I've had to dessert though they have several dessert items. Great place all around. I have recommended it to many people. Does not disappoint.

I'm not a vegetarian, yet alone vegan, but I was curious and had enjoyed another vegan restaurant I had been to years ago. I tried the BBQ Peking Duck-Less Appetizer and the Chicken-Less Curry. The appetizer was unbelievable; it really tasted like the real thing (I was tempted to go back the next day and get it again!). The chicken was pretty good, but had the after taste that vegan chicken tends to have. I will definitely go back for the duck and to try some of their other menu items.

Yummy yummy yummy in my tummy!
Oh man! I'm typing as I am eating it! I ordered the Spicy Kung Pao Chick'n less lunch ($6), Thai Hot & Sour Soup ($6.25) and a Thai Iced Tea w/ coconut milk ($2.25). All were great choices. When I lived in LA I usually ordered from The Vegan Joint and they had this Cowboy Burger that had a garlic soy sauce that was TO DIE FOR and I'm trying to find that same taste in the IE. Maybe there is a dish that the Veggie Era has that I haven't tried yet but I'm still looking to be reunited! Anyway back to the food, the Kung Pao is a little spicy and while I'm eating it, I'm thinking this can't be something other than chicken! Oh man the soup is pretty bomb diggs! Spicy yet a hint of sweetness with lettuce, mushrooms, tomatoes, and tofu! I love Tum Yum and it tastes a bit like it! The iced tea is yummy, not traditional Thai Iced Tea with the coconut milk, but still very good. I will come back yearning for more!! Now let me get back to my food!
P.S. It's fresh to order...I ordered to go and drove back to mi casa in Chino and the food is still super hot! Love that! Thanks Veggie Era! -

Where's the beef? Well it's not here, but in it's place is some very tasty veggie food. My son and I were out and about and I decided to stop here after reading the strong yelp reviews. We ordered the good wife's tofu dish and the mushroom chick'n less with brown and white rice. The good wife's tofu was tasty and was pretty dam spicy. I had a good sweat while enjoying this meal. The mushroom chick'n less was pretty good as well. I'll definitely be back soon. Good stuff!

So what happened? this place saw such good days, like three, four years ago when they used to be so on with the good food, this was a good place to get vegan without tasting vegan.
I used to fool people with their chick'nless dishes cause there was no difference from the real chicken taste or texture.
This last time I ordered the Chinese Hot & Sour Soup and the Spicy Kung Pao Chick'n less entree. The soup is supposed to be spicy and got no spicy with a minimal amount of ingredients and the appearance of tinted water.
The kung pao was spicy with loads of peanuts and "chicken" which was okay in flavor but just didn't have that kung pao punch and the peanuts tasted a bit stale.
I'm not trying to scare people away, I just hope that the owners do something about bringing back quality food, cause now days it just hasn't happened.
and I already read through all the loving animals literature they got so its getting kinda boring. -

The food is surprisingly good! We aren't vegans, but thought we'd try it. The atmosphere is a little wierd though - with the anti-meat asian television constantly playing the Supreme Master... I think they changed their name recently- to Loving Hut? Cult or no cult, we like the food pretty well.

Veggie Era makes being a vegan in the IE that much easier. The food is awesome and some of the best meat analogues I've ever had (without being too "real" tasting) (the beef satay is AMAZING). The a la carte prices are a little steep to go more than once a week for me, but the lunch special can't be beat.
Vegan desserts too!
