This is vegetarian comfort food. The portions are enormous (be prepared) and the service is friendly and very fast. It all tastes rather good, but it's a bit oily and salty. Perfect food to brighten up your wintry mood. Enjoy

(agree with other yelpers - order the "chicken" nuggets)

I order from here all the time.  It's very very good if you know what to order.  Get the crispy chicken nuggets and the mango chicken.  The noodle dishes besides the singapore mai fun are all bland, avoid those.  And avoid all the dumpling-ish appetizers.

Although it's vegetarian I don't think it's particularly healthy.  I always feel dehydrated the next day and I chalk that up to lots of salt and lots of fried stuff.

So, the soy chicken nuggets are the crispiest things I've ever had.
The salt and pepper soy chicken tenders are crispy and oh my god I'm drooling right now. They are just to die for. They are the perfect snack food. I love them. They come with the most amazing barbecue sauce as well.

Wasn't a huge fan of uh, well, anything else, because I don't quite remember the other foods my friends and I ordered. They weren't as remarkable as the godly fake chicken appetizers. But my friends seemed to think so. So! Yes, wonderful fake meat stuff, they do it right, they do it friiiied. Minus one star for being really expensive and having a delivery guy with a bad attitude.

Do not eat at this place.  The manager is rude and nasty and the food is medicore. Greasy and dull. I will never order from this place again. I am too disgusted to even get in to detail about my experience. EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I like this place.  We ordered an array of items: the budha vegetables, chicken nuggets, brown rice, curry chicken and scallion pancakes.  Everything was delish.

The delivery was fast, took approximately 20 minutes.  I didn't care for the corn soup, but everything else was good and the servings were huge.  So much so, that we had left overs.  Next time I'm in Brooklyn, I will definitely eat at Vegetarian Palate!

Im a vegan, so seeing the word "vegetarian" attached to everything makes me suspicious if the grub is full of eggs/milk/other animal products. But I wanted to give it a chance, VP has a huge menu so I called them to confirm the vegan-ness and found out that some of the items ARE NOT VEGAN where it is not indicated.

    confusing.

i wanted something somewhat healthy and not full of gluten-y soy processed faux meats, so i settled on a juice, soup, and tofu rolls. Lets just say the drink is AWESOME, but you cant go too wrong on that. The corn chowder soup was made up of this thick, mucus-y, oily broth that disturbed me so I just ended up picking out the veggies. I wanted some fresh tofu rolls (garden veggies steamed in a thin layer of bean curd skin) and opened the box to find three sopping wet rolls sitting in what looks like half a container full of grease-sauce. Gross! i attempted to pick apart one of them and found them filled with oily vegetables and faux meat strips that I had been avoiding in the first place. Certainly not the steamed veggies and fresh tofu rolls I had been anticipating.

All in all, pretty disappointing, save for the beverage.  Really unhealthy vegetarian food that is pretty blah.

This place is pretty effin' good. I had food delivered and ordered the eggplant in garlic sauce, brown rice and the nuggets (since everyone had been ranting and raving about them an hour prior). The eggplant had a tad bit more oil than anticipated but it was flavorful and delicious. Some of the best eggplant in garlic sauce I've had in awhile. The nuggets were, for lack of a better word, slammin'! I thought Red Bamboo's bbq wings were the best but VP's nuggets are a very close second.

A previous commenter mentioned that the food isn't as healthy as they had anticipated, and how they are vegan and weary of places that called their cuisine vegetarian. Well, as a vegetarian/vegan, 95% of my diet is dairy-free, does NOT contain processed, frozen and canned food and I really try not to consume animal products. With that said, occasionally I will indulge and eat out, who cares about the "greasiness" of the food or the faux meats (that's what they are, why complain?) The ONLY way I can maintain the latter diet is to cook for myself. You can't go to a restaurant and expect them to not use a certain type of oil, cook with non-soy or gluten-free ingredients or be automatically vegan when not indicated on the menu. Should have looked at the menu before going there, DUH. Anywho, I digress...

Overall, this place is really good. I didn't have very much but I'm looking forward to eating there again to try more stuff on the menu. One of the better vegetarian spots I've been to. I definitely recommend, especially if you're an omnivore, you may change your mind and go veg!

Great vegan spot with a Chinese food flair. If you're into no-meat or fake-meat, they've got a wide and expansive menu. Try the chicken (no-meat of course) nuggets for starters and end with a slice of vegan brownie cheesecake for dessert. Service is generally courteous and fast and everything is delicious.

The food was decent, but the delivery and customer service was lacking.  I ordered online through seamless, and this restaurant had a delivery time of 15-30 min.  I called after 40 min and the man was rude and ended up hanging up on me.  Called again, and a women said the driver was on his way.  After 1 HOUR, I finally got the food (which was cold.)

My order was simple: garden salad and 'chicken' bites.  The salad was actually pretty good size served with carrot ginger dressing (just okay) for $4.50.  I really liked the breadcrumbs/crust on the chicken bites, but the fake chicken had a really weird, chewy texture - probably wouldn't get again.

    Good juices, pretty terrible food.

Lots of fried non-food creations of fake meats that leave you feeling bloated and icky. We had two of the juice blends which were extremely delicious and well priced at $4.50, then had two appetizers (Tofu rolls and Banana Chicken Rolls) both were okay at best. Very fried, very tasteless otherwise.

For the entree we shared the peking duck and tangerine beef, the duck came with flour tortillas and not crepes and the duck was tofu skin fried without much flavor and just disappointing. Canned lychees/pineapples. The tangerine beef was better but it would have been better if they didn't fry the beef with the already greasy sauce too much grease.

Disappointing overall. While the "Chicken Nuggets" were fantastic, my Buddha vegetables were oversauced (along with my companion's sesame "chicken") and the wontons, scallion pancake, and satay rolls were just sort of disappointing. I probably won't be back.

I'm not a vegetarian but I love the food here.
My fav is their Orange chicken w/ brown rice and broccoli.
The chicken is sweet, tangy and bursts with flavor.
I hear that their mango chicken is pretty good, but I have yet to try it.
Oh and their Juices are Delishhh!!

The service is pretty good whether you dine in or order to go.
Its always clean and quiet and the staff is always friendly.

Amazing hole in the wall. Everything's vegan and delicious. Had the chicken wings on sugarcane stalks for appetizer and was sooooo happy. Also got garlic eggplant. Perfect for my garlic craving. And general tsaos chicken. Delish. Fresh smoothies and juices. Great. Apple caramel cheesecake  for dessert. Yum. server was very helpful and nice while guiding me through the enormous menu.

Finally tried this place after years of watching my coworkers get it for take out.

I guess if you're into greasy, over-salted Chinese food, this place is fantastic.  But if your one of those vegans who actually eats healthfully (I feel like we're a minority in this age of vegan junk food), don't waste your money.   I got the lunch special and made the mistake of choosing the hot and sour soup as an appetizer, and WOW.

I think I figured out the recipe for the hot and sour soup:  25 packets of duck sauce, 1/4 cup of salt, 2 squares of cubed tofu and some pickled vegetables for extra salt.  Holy crap, my mouth went numb!  My lips still kinda tingle as I think about the sodium content of that molten orange goo.

The soy chicken with string beans was standard takeout fare, nothing horrific, but nothing to write home about.  $6.50 wasn't a bad price, but the thought of paying dinner prices at this place make me wonder why friends think its so wonderful.

Two stars instead of one for pleasant service and the brown rice option.  Oh, and decently sized portions.  I wish I could give 2.5 stars.

OK, fine, if you love meat analogs and skeezy take out, its a great deal.  If you're one of these people, you'll make me a billionaire as soon as I figure out a way to veganize Hamburger Helper and Chef Boyardee and those freezer section disasters called "Hungry Man" meals.  Then you can all gleefully feast upon the semi-food I will sell you and warmly recall the days when you were free to eat nutritionally bereft atrocities without your compassion for animals getting in the way.  MMMM tastes like real Grade D meat and preservatives!

I have to say right off the bat - I wasn't too impressed.  This place is basically a vegetarian version of an Asian restaurant. Nothing wrong with that but the food was a bit mediocre.  Since I don't eat soy, my choices are usually limited so I was happy to see that there were plenty of vegetable dishes.

I ordered the vegetable tempura that looked very different from the tempura you see in any another Japanese restaurant.  The batter was thick and kinda greasy.  To the point where I couldn't identify the veggies. Pretty average.

That's about all I can say folks

One day I am going to sneak into the kitchen here on my way to the bathroom and catch them stuffing chicken into their nuggets. There is NO WAY these aren't chicken man...come on admit it!!!!!!

I love the food here because it tastes just like the non veggie kind which I no longer eat for a slew of reasons I won't get into here...

I have tried the veggie beef and broccoli, the pan fried dumplings, the general tso's chicken, and of course the delicious nuggets. I have enjoyed these dishes every time I have gone. Matter of fact as I type this I am waiting for a delivery right now.

I will find my way into that kitchen and confirm my suspicions lol!
Alright with the whole reading my review thing...go order already! Sheesh

If I wasn't such a buffalo wing connoisseur  I perhaps would dabble in the vegetarian lifestyle.  No who am I kidding?  I love me some meat!  But I also like soy products that make me believe that I'm biting into a baby animal with a little less guilt.

I love this place.  They seem to deliver everywhere.  O.K. well they deliver to Crown Heights and Fort Greene and for me that's all that really matters in the world.

If Charlie Sheen ate their soy chicken nuggets he would say  that they are winning, tiger blood, epic pieces of crispy soy goddess goodness.  I almost get sad when I eat Morningstar nuggets at home, knowing that they will never compare to my beloved Vegetarian Palate nuggets.

Also good on the menu are the spring chicken rolls, mango chicken and my all time favorite curry chicken ( soy chicken, potatoes, broccoli, in a curry coconut sauce).

Dine in service is quick and friendly!  Good stuff.

VegPal delivers to Crown Heights and I love them for this. There aren't a great deal of healthy choices that deliver over here so this makes them one of my favs. They also let u pay w/ ur CC over the phone!
The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars is b/c I've only ever ordered 1 thing: the mango "chicken". So. Freakin'. Goood! I just ordered the sesame chicken... I'll keep you posted.

So after a long day of walking from Bed-Stuy to Prospect Heights to Park Slope to Cobble Hill and then ALLLL the way back  (beat the street with ya feet type of day!)....I wanted something semi-healthy.....so my friend suggested this place while we were in the neighborhood....

I'm a self professed  meatetarian, but I don't need to have meat with every meal and do occasionally like to go on vegetarian splurges....

The food was pretty decent. I wish I could give 3 1/2 stars....I round down, you gotta really impress me for 4 stars!

So, not so impressive....the Hot and Sour soup....someone described it as "25 packets of duck sauce and salt"....and yeah pretty much....picked the mushroom out and pushed the rest to the side....

Sat in and  had the lunch special of curry "beef" with spinach and brown rice, and spring roll....all for $6.50.  Not a bad deal and the portion size was huge....had to bring it home for lunch the next day!

Would definitely try this place again!

Just recently got weighed and the results suggested that I need to go back to my old vegetarian ways. Unfortunately, our family often has to order out when the schedule gets too busy. Often times this means greasy General Tso's chicken from down the street. With waistline creep becoming and issue that's a trend that can't continue.
So I was excited to find a vegetarian Chinese place that delivered to the hood. We ordered the sesame soy chicken, the Singapore mei fun, the spicy shitake mushroom with duck, and some rolls. The only thing we weren't too keen on were the rolls. The filling of the rolls were kind of mushy. They tasted OK, but the texture wasn't happening.
However, the other dishes were delicious and spot on. The portion size would easily feed two people. The veggies were crisp and cooked to perfection. Having a vegetarian version of Singapore mei fun is a prayer answered for me.

They offer delivery through http://seamlessweb.com which proved fast and efficient.

I ordered with some hesitation. But I was lazy and wanted to use GrubHub, Im in Clinton Hill, so good luck getting affordable Asian food via delivery using online ordering. I wont be ordering from here again. It wasnt disgusting, but it was merely sustenance for the night. Maybe I ordered the wrong things, Hoisin Roll (a mushy inside made of..um. I guess, mush, surrounded by Spring Roll skin, which even greasy and crisp didn't hide the mush. I got Crispy noodle with Buddha vegetable which - I admit - wasn't awful, but it had a variety of Asian mushrooms I happen not to like. So after picking out the mushrooms, I had a few pieces of broccoli and water chestnuts in brown sauce left. Best part of meal: eating the crispy noodles with a bit of brown sauce and some of my own soy sauce thrown in.

I admit, this is a boring review, but my meal was boring. And mushy.
Try to find somewhere better. OR - dont order the hoisin roll, no matter what !

Food is great! I come here when I'm craving Chinese faves, that I obviously cant depend on the local Chinese spots for b/c I'm a vegetarian duhhh! lol...Newho, the "spare ribs" are good, as well as their: "salt and pepper nuggets, sesame chicken, spring rolls, corn chowder, and seaweed soup".

However, the first time my friend and I came here for an early lunch, we forgot to tip the server and he chased us down outside and told us: "hey...you know you didn't tip me?" and then rolled his eyes! It was an honest mistake...we went inside and gave him 6 bucks, but that left a bitter taste in out mouths after such a delightful meal!

So now I just call in my orders and take my food to go! lol

I've ordered delivery from here a few times, but yesterday was the first time I'd been inside the restaurant. There were plenty of places to sit, 5 or 6 four-tops at least.

The service was really unbelievable. I ordered crispy nuggets and a salad, and the very calm and nice man who was taking my order (who may be the owner?) told me I could get basically the same thing for much cheaper by ordering the crispy chicken salad. My lemon-y water was never empty.

Everything was fresh and good, the nuggets were fantaaaastic and crunchy and the sauce was perfect. I'd added tofu to my salad, and I kind of wished it had been prepared in some way. It was just raw tofu sitting on top of the salad. It was fine that way, but I wished it had been marinated, cooked, seared, heated up, something. The salad dressing was great.

I agree with one of the previous reviewers that the decor is not fancy, but I'd hope any date of mine would be more impressed with good service and food than decor. And I would definitely bring a vegetarian date here. Anybody want to go? :-)

    Ewww.

There are very few recognizable ingredients, aside from ketchup, which has no place at an "Asian" restaurant.

Second star is only because service was pretty good, and they're BYOB, so at least you enjoy part of what you consume.

Can you say yummers for your tummers? Fine, maybe not. I'm reviewing this AFTER moving out of NY. I'm in philly and I recently tried a veggie chinese spot and tho it was good, it didn't hold up again this place. So I had to come state my mind here.

I almost ALWAYS get the chicken and broccoli with brown rice. What? that is the BOMB meal. I rather eat that than the real thing (made with real chicken)...and I'm still a meat eater so it's not like I don't have a choice.

I like the lunch special. Price is budget friendly as well.
Oh and do NOT sleep on the scallion pancake...lol...my sister once ate this and we lost our minds!

    Anyway great dishes, friendly staff

    Lion's Head. Enough said.

Seriously though, I love this place. The aforementioned dish is a must have: textured balls of proteinous goodness sitting on a bed of cooked greens. My stomach is smiling just thinking of them.

Other tasty choices include the crispy nuggets (though not very Asian), the vegetarian peking duck ("are you sure this is vegetarian?"), Ebony and Ivory (stir fried mix of mushrooms and other veggies), and the banana chicken rolls (again, not really Asian, but quite delicious). I plan to try everything on the menu before I die, lets just hope we're both around long enough...

If you're planning on eating in, know that the decor of the place is a step above Chinese take out. It's pleasant enough, but it certainly isn't going to win any awards. Also, there's no beer or wine, though you're welcome to bring your own. For some, that might be a deterrent, but I think it kind of adds to the charm. When I get there, I place my bottle on the table and the server quickly brings water and wine glasses, and deftly uncorks my wine with a smile on his face. What a joy.

The one negative comment I do have is in regard to the rolls (spring rolls, etc.). Though they are tasty, they are way too greasy for my taste. Happily, that can be solved by not ordering them. Easy!

Go if you like interesting Asian food; stay if you're a vegetarian.

I actually really liked this place and it is more a 3.5.
This place is literally down the street from my house but I have never tried it as it is well...too close!
Today we were craving some vegan food and ended up here.  We ordered the cold buster and ginger tea while we perused the extensive menu.  We decided to order from the regular menu although the lunch menu looked pretty good too.  We had the crispy chicken salad and the assortment of  spring rolls.  The disclaimer is that this food is by no way healthy.  Just because it is vegan does not diet food make.  That said it was delicious.  The chicken was exactly like fried chicken milanaise and the texture was perfect.  I could not believe it wasn't chicken!  The spring rolls were fresh and deep fried to perfection and the fillings were all great.  We then had the peking spare ribs and the chicken curry with potatoes.  The Peking spare ribs were simply amazing, and again the texture is exactly like meat!  The sauce with the chicken curry was excellent but the actual chicken was more like chicken thighs which aren't my favorite.  We were stuffed by here, but in the name of trying everything we decided to "taste" the brownie chunk cheesecake.  It came with three scoops of ice cream on the house for us to share, and we dove into a fog of coconut, pistachio and creamy cheesecake I can't believe was not dairy based!
For a vegan take on chinese food, offering fantastic service and great prices, I completely recommend this place.

Cons; the food isn't GREAT by any stretch of the imagination, it's hideous inside, they never bring you the check unless you specifically ask for it, and it makes you want to crap your brains out for days

The Mango Chicken dish is AMAZING. I have to go there every time I am in Brooklyn. The setting and service is simple. I haven't tried other things on the menue but this dish (which is big enough to share between two people) has wonderful sauce, is served hot and in the shell of the mango whose fruit is in you dish! One of the tastiest vegetarian things I have had ever.

    yum

mmmmm beef with brocolli...cannot go wrong with this one. Banana chicken rolls are a tasty appetizer. You end up bringing 3 of them and half of your entree home bc they give you so much. If you frequent vegetarian paradise you will find the menu to be strikingly similar. I do believe one of the cooks left there to work here and bam! theres a vp2 close to my home. Im into it!

Its very inexpensive as well so we come here about once every 2 weeks.

I wish this place delivered to Manhattan. I've never had anything so delicious as the Crispy Nuggets. They're breaded in a thick coating of panko and herbs and very crispy indeed. The breading to "meat" ratio is like 1:1 so there's a lot of fried goodness. The barbecue-ish sauce that comes with it is really good too.

This is place is pretty awesome if you are in the mood for fake meat, especially fried & breaded. The entire menu is veggie. The menu is ridiculously similar to Vegetarian Paradise 2 in the Village, and they have Crispy Nuggets that are IDENTICAL to VP2's Crispy Soul Chick'n (right down to the dipping sauce)!!!

They have some excellent dishes, but I was not a big fan of the Spare Ribs or the Crispy Fish Divine (although it tasted better when I re-heated it the next day).  Corn Chowder was great, the rolls are awesome (the curry roll is my fav) and I did enjoy the Scallion Pancakes (not too greasy). But I can't help myself, I always end up with at least an appetizer of the Crispy Nuggets.

I would prefer VP2, but I live in Brooklyn, and Vegetarian Palate delivers to me :D  Portions are HUGE, prices are fair, slightly cheaper than VP2 and they also use http://www.seamlessweb... for online ordering.  Delivery is pretty fast, so is service in the restaurant.  The decor is not too fancy, so maybe not the best place to bring a date you're trying to impress.

I think that vegetarian palate has been lying to us vegetarians all along, their pseudo-shrimp is wayyyy too meat-like not to be meat. You know what they say, if it looks like a duck and tastes like a duck, it can't be tofu.  Vegetarian lobster and paella??
Great selection of health-conscious and innovative dishes, smoothies and desserts. Overall a friendly place. My problem is with the non-existent decor. It's one of those generic pizza-parlor or Chinese food layouts that has no personality and is not "date worthy." Can't they put a few buddhas around or add a carpet? Worth the pilgrimage for die-hard veggies and vegans. Just don't bring your carnivorous significant others.

    Hellllllloooooo Delicious!

No words can describe the pure joy that came from every aspect of my Vegetarian Palate experience. I was quite overwhelmed by the variety on the menu. They have more fake meat dishes on one menu than I have ever seen. They even have fake fish (salmon, shrimp, eel, etc.) which is hard to come by (and though i didn't try it, i heard great things).

The dishes span a huge range of "ethnic" influences: broccoli beef, orange chicken, bbq ribs, chicken tenders, wonton soup, herb roasted chicken, hawaiian chicken, turkey sandwiches. Anything you could possibly crave.

I'll probably be eating there multiple times a week for the rest of my life.

The food at this restaurant is incredible. I can be honest and say that I go here almost every week. The customer service is great and the nice Asian Man is always refreshing my lemon water. When you first enter into the restaurant, the lights are very dim which is something I do prefer. The food is incredddddiiiiiiibbbbbblllllllleeeeeeee. They give you a whole lot. From the roll sampler to the "salmon" dish, I can say that every meal is flavored to perfection.
