You know when you have those late night cravings for some diner food? Well I do and I would come down here for that just because everything else is closed in the neighborhood and this is the only thing open.

I've been coming here with my parents ever since I was a little girl. I still come here with my parents on those lazy Sundays when I sleep in until 12 or 1pm and come to this diner for breakfast food. Speaking of which...I kind of want a mushroom omelet with fries now.

One should never step foot into Vegas diner even if you are cranky, hungry and it is the wee hours of the morning. Just save your money and go to sleep. But if you have to step foot in here, don't expect much.

Our waitress moseyed on over and was like like " Yeah what do you want" in the nastiest, I couldn't give a crap about you attitude I'd ever heard. We ordered a BLT and a tuna melt. The tuna melt was two scoops of old looking tuna on two sorry pieces of toast with american cheese slices half melted on top. The tuna was cold still and the cheese half melted. It looked like they stuck it the oven for 1 second. It was the sorriest looking meal I'd seen in a long time. So we decided to just leave and not eat.

Finding our crackhead looking waitress was the next problem. She disappeared to the kitchen and was not seen again for about 20 minutes. We had the nice lady at the front desk look for her twice, and when she finally came out, looked at our uneaten food and then out of her mouth came "Yeah what happened?", like we were going to complain. I said " can I get the check and have this wrapped to go? THATS WHAT HAPPENED!" This diner has never failed to unimpress.

Okay this is a staple in the neighborhood, always pretty crowded. I recall several memories of stopping by here with a friend and grabbing dinner. I remember one time, I had an open Turkey Sandwich which was pretty good, warm and just piled with a lot of gravy. Unfortunately since it was a new taste and experience, my stomach revolted.. so that was that.

This place is opened for 24/7, so if you don't want to hit the dinner crowd, go slightly early or slightly later.

Ok, so I might be biased. I have so many bitchin' little-kid-memories here. The best kind of memories. The kind that involve grandparents and food.

My grandma and I used to eat here all the time after going shopping at Berta's Discount Clothing Store or Outflation's Discount (Grandma taught me how to be frugal) for some coloring books. Grandma would always get slit pea soup and chicken croquettes and I'd do the same. Though it sounds like an odd meal for a 6 year old, I never thought it was... because it was the meal of choice for the coolest woman on the planet.

Throughout the years, we'd always return to the Vegas diner and the food remained solid and awesome until just recently. It's definitely not the same diner it used to be but it's still good. With the new, ungrateful, asshole generation operating old family businesses... things just aren't the same and never will be. All that we have left are the good memories.

I lived just a few doors down from Vegas Diner for 9 years. I've had a lot of memories including hanging out with friends when we were still in high school, celebrating birthdays, having my first break-up here, early breakfasts after nights of partying, treating myself to my favorite dish (baked stuffed clams) whenever I was having a bad day...

I've been to a couple of other diners in Brooklyn with higher quality food and service, but Vegas is like that dependable friend who's always ready to listen no matter what time of day it is (Vegas is open 24/7).

***Vegas Diner is one of my favorite diner's in Brooklyn.***

No reservations needed, although you may have to wait for a table after 6pm, that's when it gets really crowded.

On Friday they have my favorite soup, lobster bisque and I order off the full dinner menu. Starting with my appetizer of 3 baked clams stuffed with crab meat, my delicious soup, salad, main course, beverage & dessert.. All their dinners are accompanied with a bread & butter basket (Mmmm cheesy bread!), A tray of olives, celery, radish, carrots sticks. Small dishes of chick peas, & sliced beets with onions. You can't beat the price, freshness and the service. The portions are large and most times I end up taking 1/2 my dinner home with me.

When you enter the diner make sure you check-out the desserts in the tall spinning glass. You will see the a nice yummy selection of dessert: X-LARGE strawberry tarts, cheesecake, chocolate mousse, rainbow cake (7 layer) and lemon meringue! These desserts are definitely enough for you to share.

Breakfast & lunch (burger deluxe) is also very good here too!

Open 24/7 with fresh baked vanilla sprinkled cookies & mints on the way out.......Need I say more?

This is just your average diner.  I don't believe there is anything special about this place.  Maybe the sweet potato fries but I don't like sweet potatoes.  Vegas is a place to just relax and eat with some friends.

the only redeeming quality about where I live. I met Vegas Diner on one of my first nights after moving to Brooklyn, and we've been together ever since. 5am after you get out of the bar that closes a little later in Bay Ridge, this place is the best before you pass out for the night. 2pm when you wake up after a nice long night out, nothing cures your hangover quite like a big Vegas breakfast. Is the food good? Well, no. Is it quick? Well, no, not really. They do give you pickles and coleslaw while you wait though, so there is that.

A quality diner is just a dive version of a restaurant; you can't expect the Ritz.

Blowout central.  It's one of the larger and more popular Bensonhurst / Bath Beach diners around, so you'll rarely ever see it empty no matter what time you end up there.  Be prepared to put up with some loud douchebags who are hopped up on HGH and believe they're Tony Soprano, yet they don't earn any money and enjoy tanning.  The bouncer (yes, this diner employs a bouncer!) was shot to death a while back after tossing one of these crackheads out.  Don't you know, he comes back with 15 of his boys and gives this poor bastard a buckshot shampoo just for doing his job.  Way to represent the bottom of the gene pool.

The food is not spectacular at all.  It's served surprisingly faster than you'd expect, since it's so busy.  I'm always impressed with how well staff can handle the rush.  The cooks, on the other hand, are really bringing them down.  Then again, it could be fast because they don't give a damn.  I would say Vegas offers better breakfast than anything else on their menu, but most of the folks I've dined with here seem to love their sandwiches.

Their parking lot is too small to handle their popularity and some asshole will most definitely block you in.  If you arrive and it's busy, hit the streets for a spot.  However, if you arrive while anything else in the area is still open, you're better off dining elsewhere.

Vegas Diner has been around forever. It's been with us through thick and thin - From when it was rated "Best Diner in Brooklyn" to when it was closed by the Health Department for health code violations. Despite the fact that it was closed down, people went right back when it reopened (myself included).

The food is very typical diner food, but that's becoming increasingly difficult to find in NYC these days, especially at reasonable prices. They have some great burgers, breakfast all day, gasoline-like coffee with free refills, and very good Greek specialties (gyro, etc.) that are all worth going for. I think they might have the best gyro around, although people who have been to Greece (or Astoria) may beg to differ.

Vegas serves all purposes: breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, dessert, drunk food... It's open 24 hours a day (another increasingly rare feature). The interior is very kitschy, 80s mirror-and-formica fabulous. It's large enough so that you normally don't have to wait, but if you go on a weekend, you may end up waiting (at least they have an enclosed waiting area). You can always find locals dining here including lots of old people and the occasional police officer - Of course, people visiting from other parts of the city will be impressed and amused by the variety and volume of Sopranos-like locals and that's probably worth the visit in itself. The service is usually fast, although when it gets busier it can be lacking. The wait staff is, however, always friendly.

Vegas continues to be a Bensonhurst institution despite competition that has come and gone, and I highly recommend it for your fix of great diner fare or even just a cup of coffee and dessert.

We had an early New Year's Eve dinner at the Vegas Diner in 2006, along with another couple.  What a great place!  The food was delicious, the portions were *enormous* (including generous amounts of appetizers & bread), our server was very sweet & attentive (i.e., not overbearing & she sensed exactly when she was needed), the other servers were also very friendly, we sat there for a long time without being encouraged to leave, and we got another whole meal out of the leftovers.  My seafood casserole was a real treat, and naturally I felt compelled to take home an order of bread pudding.  For that "feast", my dinner cost only $14.95 plus $1.95 for the dessert (not including tip and tax).  The Vegas has been in operation since 1982 and it's open 24 hours/day.

Vegas is amazing, dined here three times. Their Belgian waffles are to die for! Especially with two scoops of strawberry ice cream. I wished they had more ice cream choices though. Nonetheless, this is a great diner. Food's great, service is fast. The waiters and waitresses are real friendly. I love how they're open 24/7. Came here around 2am with a bunch of friends and the waiters were smiling and awake. Definitely recommend this place for any get together.

Very nice diner for Brooklyn, definitely more of a diner than a diner restaurant (you know what I mean, the diners that are trying to be more upscale by being adding overly ornate rococo details). There were great booth seat that made me nostalgic of the yellow school buses, very bouncy.

The  food came out quickly and the waiter was attentive and nice, especially since we had order extra sides for everything.
Great eggs and grilled cheese sandwich (I had gotten the Grilled Swiss with bacon and tomatoes).

One of my friends wants me to point out that there was not enough chocolate chips in the chocolate chip pancakes (I think he only wants to say this is because he got the one pancake with the least chips in it, we had shared the pancakes).

I used to come here every sunday for about 2 years with my dad and my sister for Sunday breakfast. We made friends with one of the waiters so every time he saw us come in he sat us in his section. no we did not skip the waiting line, we actually waited a bit longer so we can get our guy. The food there is pretty good. The chefs cook really fast. Its always SO crowded in there though and the parking lot is real small and you always have that jerk that doesn't know how to park and just because its an expensive car he can park however they feel just as long as they are in the parking lot. so usually your are boxed in. They usually have those bitchy hostess chicks though. They also dont delivery but are open 24 hours. Eh this diner is okay, could be better could be worse.

The food is good but the service is o.k. I know it's a diner but come on, The women that takes care of the liquor & cash is soooo nasty. She is just a miserable person and takes it out on the customers. We asked for a drink and it was watered down and gave such an attitude that she had to move and do something. When we asked for a second drink she refused to give it us, so we left and never returned. Mind you we spend a lot of money there. She needs to stay home & let the place run without her.

This is a decent diner.  The food isn't too bad and neither is the service.  I prefer it a little more for breakfast, they have a good breakfast special.  The service is pretty quick and the food is pretty good.

The food is not bad at all.. the chocolate shakes are REAAAALLY good. But it's always crowded, there's never any parking (btw the side alley doesn't count as a parking lot, although they obviously think different)
