I've been pushing this place on friends near and far and now I will push it on you Yelpers.  I live a stone's throw away and frequently walk there for takeout - either for just me or for a nice dinner at home with a friend.  I love it.  They love it.  We love it.

Do not be alarmed by the terse person taking phone orders.  I don't think they have more than one line (which is bad) so they take orders in a no-nonsense way because I'm waiting and getting a busy signal!  Every order, no matter what size, ends with "ready 15 minutes. bye."

My absolute favorite dish is the Green Papaya Salad - it's so fresh and delicious.  Other favorites include the PET (pumpking-eggplant-tofu) and the "chicken" pad thai.  Entrees are served with a purple-blackish rice that is on the crispier side (not as soft as brown rice) and are packaged in the best to-go containers.  Full disclosure: the Asian in me washes and saves them for my mom.

p.s. don't get the side of steamed veggies - not worth it.

I don't know how long this will last (today is 11/8/09), but the Happy Cow website -- http://www.happycow.ne... -- home of one of the finest lists of veggie/vegan eateries assembled anywhere -- is featuring the VG in the upper right-hand corner!  :-)

One great thing about Happy Cow's list is that they have color-coded each entry as to whether it's veggie, vegan, or veg-friendly. Happy Cow is an udder delight!

My girlfriend is a Vegan so I am forced to try out all these restaurants I would normally not go to.  RFD is great, and Pure Luck is Heaven.  Vegan Glory, or Vegan Vomit, as I have renamed it after eating there is not in the same category as either of these.

The food is basically cheap chinese takeout, with the meat substituted with tofu.  The ambience is the equivalent to a Quizno's, filthy booths are adorned with 99 cent store candles accompanied by elevator jazz music playing softly through blown speakers.

I ordered what I thought was supposed to be a light healthy offering from their entree menu but what I received was a bowl of grease.  Starving and out for a long night on the town, I graciously lapped it up.    And boy was that a mistake.  I tried lying to myself by ignoring the queasy feeling that was rapidly becoming more pronounced.

About a half hour later and on our way to a movie, I was struck with utter confusion for I couldn't decipher wether I was going to shit my pants or throw up violently.  I begged my girlfriend to pull over and I hurled my brains out on Santa Monica Blvd.

Hence the name, Vegan Vomit.

Pretty consistent so far. Been here several times. My favorite is the BBQ Chicken salad (which isn't really chicken, but tofu in BBQ sauce) Pretty darn good.

p.s. And if the food doesn't agree with you, the Beverly Free Clinic is right across the street

When they first opened, the food was great, such a great concept, then after a while it started to become more inconsistent. If you are going to eat there, eat in the restaurant if you want your food warm. I have ordered from 5 blocks away and still got it cold? Most of the time I order I do not get serving utensils even when I ask at times. When they make a mistake, they do not do anything about it, not even an apology at times. I miss the old days of vegan Glory, I hope you read this because, you do make good food, that is when you do.

Ok so I was SUPER excited when i came across this find. I mean from all the reviews to the menu, I couldn't wait to try! Everything just sounded so good! I chose this spot to meet up with my friend on a Wed night. We met at about 7:15. Its a small casual restaurant, with not very many dine ins but seem to get a lot of take out orders.

The menu is so huge that event though I had checked it out online it took me forever to order. I mean maybe cuz I was so hungry or because everything just sounded good. When you ask the waitress for recommendations, she really doesn't give any...just basically points to everything on the menu.

We started with steam dumplings, eh it was ok; would not order again. I finally decided on the Red Curry with Soy Chicken. It was good but I didn't love it. It comes with a small portion of brown rice. I didn't care for all the long skinny yellow things in it (i forgot what those are called). My friend also had an equally hard time deciding and ended up gong pretty basic, guac burrito. I think he was satisfied b/c he scarfed it down!

Reasons for the 3: What I ordered was "A-Ok" but I was more annoyed that my friends burrito came out over 5 min after my dish came out! On top of that he ordered a diet coke and had to ask twice for her to bring it.

With this being said, I still would come back! The menu is huge and overall you don't feel weighed down after you eat.

I'm such an asshole.  I went here two days in a row and ordered the same assholey thing:  Dumpling soup, no dumplings, sub soy chicken, add steamed vegetables.

interlude: I order my soup this way, in part, because dumplings are terrifying. It freaks me out how all the dumpling stuff is wrapped up in a neat little opaque package--hidden from me until consumption. Who even knows what's in there?! I hold a similar fear of tortellini, ravioli, samosas, etc.

But what kind of lunatic acts like this in a restaurant? I completely stripped their original dumpling soup of its essential ingredients, only to bastardize it to conform to MY particular palate.  If I were the vegan glory waiters-tresses/chef(s), I would have punched me in the face for being so presumptuous.  But did they do that? No, not at all. In fact, they were incredibly nice, and didn't even flinch at my outlandish requests.  They delivered *amazing* dumpling (no dumpling) soup, and I was totally stoked.

Next time: Spicy Noodles (no substitutes). I love you, vegan glory!

Again, Vegan Glory highly exceeded my expectations - AWESOME food and service, and everything is vegan, ORGANIC, fresh, & healthy!!! All without MSG. Very reasonable price tags for the portion & quality.

The boyfriend tried their fruit smoothie which was very tasty & fresh, and PAD THAI with soy chicken. He finished the WHOLE PLATE CLEAN. He usually doesn't do that. I tasted some and it was great!

I very much enjoyed SPICY NOODLES with tofu (with less oil) - and it was absolutely delicious!!! Yeah, you can customize your menu to make it less oily, more spicy, you name it!! AND it tastes very good.

The portion size was big and the service was prompt & friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone. My omnivore friends seem to love the food also. One of my picky friends said, "I could eat this for rest of my life!!" Yeah.

I still think their Thai entrees taste the best, but everything I've tried so far seems to be pretty good if you're into trying new things.

Seriously, CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!!

I've eaten at plenty of vegan restaurants but there was something special about Vegan Glory. It didn't have the pretentious feel that some vegan restaurants you might step into have. the food came out quick and the servers were really nice. I liked that there was some variety on the menu, you could order pad thai or a veggie burger etc. If you really like orange chicken I would recommend that. The spring rolls are amazing; very filling and stuffed with veggies. I actually really enjoyed the pad thai it was sweet the way I like it. I wasn't that big of a fan of the sweet and sour tofu because It had too much of a tomato after taste. Overall I think Vegan Glory is great a place for a vegan to indulge in all the foods they crave.

VEGAN GLORY - The name is the program! Healthy and delicious. I love to eat - and I love healthy food. At VEGAN GLORY, you can really dig in, without a guilty conscience.

No MSG!
All foods are made fresh from organic produce.

I had never ordered food in my life but when I was in a time crunch and had a writing deadline, I remembered that VEGAN GLORY delivers free within a three mile radius. Lucky me! Every time I call, I am reminded of Miranda in Sex in the City. I always order the same things too. Sooo addictive! Tom Kha Vegetable Soup (no soy chicken, no tofu, extra mild), Lentil Loaf, Kombucha Gingerade and a young Thai coconut. "Anything else?" (So cute!) I always have a funny chat and get some words of wisdom along with my super HOT, neatly packed food from the kind delivery guy.

Vegan Glory shot right to the top of favorite restaurants among all my friends.

VEGAN GLORY offers the best and possibly widest selection of healthy, yummy beverages in LA as well!

Parking is a bit tricky around there if you do not want to valet and do not find a meter on Beverly Blvd. Try Beverly first before you venture into the neighborhood (restricted neighborhood parking).

We have truly enjoyed the following, many times over:

MEE-KROB
Crispy rice noodles, bean curd, and fried soy shrimp caramelized in chef's secret sweet sauce, garnished with bean sprouts. (As good as it gets, according to 3 friends)

TOM KAH KAI
Mild and aromatic soup, with exotic herbs, mushrooms, tofu, and soy chicken in a coconut milk broth (LOVE IT!!! PERSONALLY, I ASK TO TAKE OUT THE TOFU & SOY PRODUCTS)

CUCUMBER SALAD
Cucumber, red bell peppers & red onions in a sweet vinaigrette dressing  (SUPER FRESH)

PAPAYA SALAD
Shredded green papaya, carrots, green beans, sliced tomatoes, and lime juice tossed with ground peanuts (LIGHT & FRESH!!!)

LENTIL LOAF
Lentils, brown rice, bell pepper, celery, onions and spices (MY FIRST LOVE)

PAD THAI
Rice stick noodles stir fried with our exclusive pad Thai sauce, bean sprouts, and green onion, topped with crushed peanuts (A FAVORITE OF MANY OF MY FRIENDS, THEY SAY - THEY BEST THEY'VE EVER HAD)

VEGAN CARROT CAKE
Only MAENI'S can compete... But VEGAN GLORY'S version is less rich in calories... Yum, yum...

MY ABSOULTE FAVORITE DRINKS:
- Kombucha (all flavors)
- Fresh, young Thai Coconut

This place is AMAZING!!!  I went here today thinking in the back of my head that it wasn't going to compare to California Vegan but you know it really did!!!   It has the same idea on the lunch special,  miso soup, spring roll, salad and dish.   Only their miso soup has a bunch of veggies in it and some spice to it.  The spring roll is BIG!  ahahaha i mean bigger than the dish that the sauce to dip it! (completely hilarious i'm sure to watch us trying to dip it in and having to just pour it out on the roll).

I don't know why but i've been a little obsessed this weekend with orange chicken and seeing it on the menu here was a pleasant surprise.  So of course i had to get it and it was delicious!!!   They give you brown rice with it and the only place i can compare it to is the brown rice like Toi has,  not actually brown more of a purple rice.

I'm definitely gonna be a regular at this place!

How did this place get an average rating of 4 stars? Oh well, to each his own. We only went once, but when it's not good the first time ya don't really want to go back.

I'm Vegan, and I think that's my issue with this place. There are a number of restaurants that call themselves "Vegan" because they throw tofu or seitan in a dish. I'm not into restaurants that masquerade as Vegan when really they're Thai, etc.

The other thing about our dining experience was that the food was really greasy. My boyfriend is a meat eater, and even he felt sick afterwards from all the grease/oil in the food.

Absolutely shocked by this place. Shocked that it was actually GOOD that is!

I'm a die hard omnivore. I have no problem eating anything with a face and I'm not going to lie, I was really biased against vegan food. Well I've learned my lesson about keeping an open mind.

This food was truly delicious. I was there for lunch and they have variety of reasonably priced lunch options which come with a small salad, soup and a spring roll. I think it's vegan food with a Thai slant which is just fine by me. I had the pad thai and I really was expecting crap. I was so surprised. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. Maybe there wasn't meat involved but damn if it wasn't seasoned expertly. The little veggie soup they serve before the meal is SO GOOD. So much FLAVOR! I also had my pad thai with soy chicken and maybe it was because the sauce was so dominating but I honestly couldn't tell I wasn't eating real chicken. The texture is pretty much identical. You also have the option of getting plain tofu or vegan fish (didn't have the balls to try this one. I don't really want to know how you turn soy products into something that tastes like fish...)

All in all, this place completely changed this carnivore's mind about vegan food. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone, vegan or not.

Great vegan place! I took a bunch of non-vegans there, and everyone loved it.

The waitress was very knowledgeable about the food. As we ordered she told us which way things would be better (aka I ordered the steamed dumplings and she suggested I get them grilled otherwise they would be mushy).

The miso soup was great and filling. My friend had the pad thai, and even with a hangover enjoyed it. The red curry was also a hit. They were able to adjust the seasoning so that it wouldn't be too spicy.

I think the highlight of the meal though was the taro ice cream. We got an order to share between 4 of us, and I think it was gone in about 2 minutes. It had a very unique flavor, and was absolutely delicious.

Definitely recommended to those vegans out there.

There are some times when I eat out at vegan restaurants and realize that I am a better cook than whoever threw together my $15 meal.  This does not happen at Vegan Glory.  I wish I could bend space and time and make Burbank closer to the 90048 zip code.  Alas, I cannot.  It's my loss.  This place is incredible and does wonderful things with vegan food.  It's a great place to take a beginner vegan and introduce them to what I call "how being vegan doesn't suck.."  Here exists the many flavors and textures that tickle your tastebuds, vegans and omnivores alike, and show you how we vegans get down.  Go, eat, enjoy.  Give the critters a day off.

It's pricey.  But get the cashews dish with seitan. it's fantastic.  Their faux chicken appetizer is very good, especially for newbies/omnivores.  Delivery always takes about 45 minutes, which is always how I've eaten from Vegan Glory.  Delivery vegan food?  More stars!

Since I'm on a roll, I thought I'd do a review on all the restaurants that I've eaten at in recent days.

I haven't really eaten "vegan" before. I eat a ton of fruits and salads. I enjoy eating tofu.

However, I'm pretty sure I don't like food that masquerades as meat. Example: tofu that tastes/feels like meat texture etc.

I'd rather have no meat in the dish and nothing that's faking it as meat. I like my food to "keep it real".  Something very disturbing as tofu based product pretending to be meat.

I asked my friend the reasoning behind this. He said it's because the people come here to eat something that reminds them of what they used to have.

I guess I eat too much regular meat products to not have to yearn for it and eat pretend meat.

They had this interesting vegan flavoring from Bragg. And you just sort of pump it on the food to make it taste better. Really bizarre to me.

Food: C-
Staff: C
Environment: C
Overall: C

I really enjoyed the company of my friend. I think that in itself made the trip to Vegan Glory worthwhile.

Vegan Glory is Vegan-Glorious!  (Sorry.  Couldn't help it.)  I didn't expect it to be in a strip mall setting, but there it was -- totally unassuming and minding its own business.  I love Thai food, so I went in assuming that this was going to be a no-brainer.  But even with higher-than-they-should-be-for-a-first-time expectations, Vegan Glory did not disappoint.

First and foremost, the staff doesn't bother you but they are attentive, so big ups to them.  Their bathrooms are clean and smell nice. (Well... the ladies' room, anyway.  If the dude bathroom smells, it's probably not entirely VG's fault.  Just being real.)

I had the Glory Noodles (after going back and forth between Lentil Loaf or Papaya Salad... typical me) and they were definitely satisfying enough to deserve the signature-noodle-dish status.  It was the perfect level of spicy and had a good amount of veggies and tofu.  Deeeelightful.

I really went for it and got the dinner combo (comes with soup, salad, brown rice and spring roll), letting my gluttony override my better judgment.  Worth. It.  My favorite thing about the restaurant is that they let you know right on the menu that you can ask to make any of their items spicy.  AWESOME.  Also awesome, they sell Kombucha!  I love me some trendy, probiotic vinegar-tea.

The soup that came with the combo is a vegetable (kimchi-grade cabbage/carrot/etc.) soup and I really like my soups to be brothy, rather than creamy, so I was immediately taken.  The spring roll had strong hints (obvious clues?) of ginger, but I like ginger, so that was also a plus for me.  The brown rice is actually purple, but I've had purple rice growing up. (Yay, Korean food!)  Just letting you know not to expect "mainstream" brown rice.  :)  I didn't get any of the soy meats (you get one option of protein with most dishes) bc I was really feening for tofu, but I expect to go back and try something else soon, so I'll do a review update, if necessary.

On a side note: They have a menu insert explaining their parking situation, which is cute and well-meaning, but sort of silly and unnecessary, as one would have had to park to be seated and looking at their menu in the first place.

Disclaimer: Two non-related factors may have skewed this review.  1. I just ate the crappiest-tasting lunch (top three worst of all time...) and 2. There was a UPS mailing station in the same strip mall, which was beautifully convenient, as it allowed me to send out a package I'd been meaning to send for about a month now.

I've eaten at some vegan places, but I was never satisfied when I left because the food I ate tasted TOO healthy. I like eating healthy food that is tasty and isn't overpowered by the taste of healthiness...it's probably because I like junk food and meat.

However, this place was yummy. My pad thai and egg rolls tasted like a normal Thai place made it - meaning I didn't realize that key ingredients like chicken or any dairy products were missing. The soy chicken didn't feel like an impostor.

I also got a fresh coconut juice, which was beyond fresh as they served me a just-cracked coconut with a straw. This was a special treat as I like eating coconut meat too - it served as my dessert.

I want to come back soon!

Delicious.

The pad see ew is always awesome. Perhaps my favorite dish. The portions are pretty large and you will get full. The pad thai is good as well but a bit on the mushy side [albeit extremely tasty].

Apparently the yellow curry is more of a soup and do not order this if you don't like coconut. The only draw back is the wait staff is not all that friendly and parking is a chore. Given that, I will still absolutely come here again.

[One other gripe, why do all these thai places only give you a can of coke? okay, so it saves me some calories but I have to ration out my soda.]

Back in the day when I was still a carnivore, I had dinner here with some vegan friends.  Wasn't expecting much as I had always thought vegan food would be bland.  They have a pretty large menu so I had no idea what to order.

My friend suggested the Praram's Plate which is marinated soy chicken pan fried with peanut sauce on a bed of steamed spinach.  SO GOOD!!! Also had one of their humongous Vegan Smoothie.  YUM!

Parking stinks here. I think it was either $3 or $5 so you might want to hunt for some street parking.

Now that I've converted and joined my fellow veganites, I can't wait to go back. That taro ice cream looks delicious!

One of my favorite things about LA is that most places are veg-friendly.  This place still exceeded expectations.  Extensive menu, though we stuck with thai-inspired dishes.  The potstickers were good.  The pad thai and pumpkin/eggplant/tofu (or, PET) dishes were great.  Friendly staff and a good value.  Very casual. I wish I was there right now.

Granted, I'm admittedly a bonafide lover of the flesh, first and foremost, I'm an open minded foodie, so when my newly vegetarian pal, Mary Grace, suggested we try Vegan Glory for lunch, I was totally down to give it a try.

Looking over the menu, this struck me as a Thai joint that had simply removed all the animal products (read: the good stuff) from the dishes. Digging deeper, I saw there were a few other items but everything had a Thai spin which left me optimistic that would translate to flavor.

We both opted for a lunch special order of their "chicken nuggets" that everyone seemed to be raving about accompanied by some simple salad, rice, egg rolls and soup (which was a very uninspired and oily tom kha kai I imagine had been sitting on the stove since that morning, if not the night before). As for the nuggets, what can I say? You can deep fry just about anything and make it palatable, but that doesn't mean it's good. They were dry, fibrous and for the most part, flavorless, save the sauce I kept soaking them in. All that for about the same calories it would have cost me to have a steak dinner? Meh.

If I had to do this again, I'd probably stick with the pad thai - which didn't look too shabby at the table next to me, albeit kinda boring sans shrimp and fish sauce.

Service was ok, but what really killed me was the lemonade. Yes, the lemonade. My companion ordered a glass and when asked if she wanted it topped off about halfway through, accepted, which was all fine and good until the bill came and we'd been charged for a second drink. When we asked about it, we were told there were no free refills. Five dollars for a glass and a half of lemonade? Alrighty then.

If this were my only dietary option I may have a different slant, but considering that's far from the case, yeah, not so glorious.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in LA, and I'm not even Vegetarian or Vegan!!!

I eat dinner here at least once a week.

Great food, and quick service. Try any item with "Chicken" as the "meat." I don't know how they do this, but it tastes just like real chicken. The fake-fish and fake-beef are not as good as the fake-chicken...if you don't beleive me about how great the "chicken" is, try the Satay (you can't fake good with Satay - it either is or isn't) and the Orange Peel Chicken (my personal favorite).

A few points:

1. If you come during rush-hour, you may have to wait a moment to sit (if you have more than 2 ppl in your party).

2. Try to find street parking. If you can't (or don't want to), mention that you parked in the lot when you pay, and they'll discount your bill a couple bucks.

3. Try the Orange Peel Chicken, and if you don't love it, write a defamatory review/post about how wrong I was!!!

4. They don't accept AMEX, do bring cash, Visa, or MC.

5.Great for super-local lunch delivery.

Cheers!

:-)

I agree that the fake orange chicken was great, and the soy chicken pad thai was very satisfying. Great egg rolls, vegetable soup, and yes, the brown rice. Frankly, I was skeptical about whether I would be able to stand Vegan Thai food (I'm a carnivore) but this place impressed me. I was actually too full to finish the rice.

What the hell? How did I end up at a vegan joint?

This is what happens when I tell my vegetarian friend he can pick where to eat before a show. But the end result was fine. I've actually been kind of meaning to try this place for some time, but never had any reason what so ever to go.

On an early Wednesday night, the inside of Vegan Glory was oddly dimmed down to create an off putting romantic vibe. Where are my bright lights?! It was hard not to get a "burger" but I figured a burrito would be safer. So I ordered a "beef" burrito and Thai ice tea.

http://www.yelp.com/bi...

The burrito was fairly large but poorly wrapped. The tortilla never had a chance to make a full lap around the innards. And what a pile of guts this thing had. I was able to identify the rice, beans, and some veggies but I had no idea where the "beef" was. I asked for some hot sauce and got a little jar of insanely hot red pepper paste, like you get at any Vietnamese place, and it gave a great kick to my meal. The main gripe I had with the burrito was the toughness of the tortilla. It was pretty hard to cut through with a fork and knife, and gave a bit more of a work out to my jaw than I wanted. On top of all that, the Thai ice tea was fine, but I didn't like the crushed ice with it.

Over all, the meal filled my belly and didn't make me feel sick. After, I was able to drink my tall can, see a brutal metal show, and go home feeling content.

Surprisingly good! I had the green curry and the chicken tasted just like... CHICKEN! The rolls that come with it are excellent, and I do mean excellent. I don't remember if you can order those separately but they would make great appetizers before starting the course.

The place is very clean, with a friendly staff and good array of tables. I had lunch here and the lunch special was priced right, not too expensive.

Definitely a healthy eating with taste. Recommended for lunch.

i was really gung ho about this place after eating a delicious veggie sandwich. unfortunately for me, this place reminded me of two things that i do not like: brown rice and peanut butter. even though i chose the wrong dish, i fully appreciated why this place can be great.

PRARAM'S PLATE - dinner combo is a good deal. i tried the chicken and rice separately so i did not like it but together they go very well together. definitely a must try if you like peanut sauce. the soup and salad was a bit sad looking and sad tasting. the soup was a vegetable soup that looked/tasted like it had been boiled too long. the best part of this was the veggie egg roll with the spicy/sweet sauce. very crispy.

SOY BEEF BURRITO - pretty good. very light taste. wouldn't even have thought it was a vegan burrito.

overall, this place is very good for vegan food. i would definitely come back to try some of the other menu items.

i just ordered takeout for lunch and they delivered to the office so fast and the delivery guy was such a goofball.

i got the green power salad with greens, edamame, grilled tofu, tomatos and cucumbers with peanut dressing.  holy cow. the tofu was so fresh and fantastic.  the peanut dressing was awesome.

because they had a minimum $15 delivery i also ordered myself the soy beef burrito for dinner!

For the two times I've gone there, no way Jose!

An awful salad and an overly sweet curry that was nearly inedible.

Oh, and did I mention the roach.. yeah!

I heard it used to be better, sorry folks.

Vegan Glory is a nice little joint, though the food didn't blow me away as far as Thai cuisine is concerned.

The "chicken" satay appetizer was excellent, with richly textured chicken and a wonderful peanut dipping sauce on the side. This was the highlight of the meal. My pepper steak basil stir fry was decent, but nothing special. It didn't have the array of flavors that Thai basil stir frys are supposed to have (sweet, salty, crispy and soft). The pepper steak itself was just hydrated tvp and nothing fancy. My friend's green curry was too heavy on some seasoning, which corrupted the curry taste. Also, both of our dishes were a tad too spicy, though we weren't even asked about spice level when we ordered (note: I grew up eating Indian food, so I know spice, and if a dish is spicy for me, it'll be spicy for 99% of the world).

The service was fast and friendly. Prices and portion sizes are good.

mmmm.. just so so... but still 3.75

overall? 3 stars, but i bumped it up an .75 since it was extremely cheap!

i was expecting some really good vegan food by skimming through the yelp reviews.. or mebe my taste buds are a bit outta control.

i told you that i was on a semi vegan diet right? well, if not, now you know.... the gals are super friendly and the food portion is quite the catch. i ordered this to go because i was lazy to sit down and eat with a friend.

their wraps and their entrees were quite tasty, and can't tell you and express it enough, on how healthy it was.

All I can say is: vegan tacos.
try em.

LA is so full of thai vegan spots that it's nice to know you can get a nice simple vegan taco with all the trimmings. no more noodles.

This is my favorite vegan restaurant in LA. The food is freshly prepared. Most of the food is Thai food. I tend to get pad thai noodles with soy chicken. It is good and hard to notice it's not real chicken.
