So glad I found this store (although my wallet isn't quite as happy). I needed the perfect birthday dress, wanted something that would stand out but still look pretty and classy. Found a super cute teal dress with a little ruffle at the bottom and a tie at the neck here! I got so many compliments!
Then I needed a present for a friend's birthday; went to the one in Hollywood and found a really cute clutch there! Okay, falling in love.
Finally, I stumbled into the one in Westside Pavilion (didn't know there was one there) and lo and behold I found another cute dress. Now I'm smitten with the store and trying to figure out a monthly Varga budget for myself.
Overall the dresses run about $30-60 and the accessories are I think about $10-30 (the purse I got was $30). The stores are all really cute and every one I've been in had really helpful salespeople. The one in Santa Monica had the most and best sale stuff.
This boutique is to die for!!! It's cozy with great decor, adorable/trendy clothing, amazing prices and the sales associate that's usually there when I stop by has great fashion sense and is so helpful, which is good for those times I don't have a girlfriend along with to help make decisions. I'd definitely recommend checking it out.
Really cute store with awesome clothes but I wish they had more clothing inventory opposed to small trinkets scattered around everywhere. Perfect shop to find a bday dress, going out dress or just something to wear to the beach and it won't break the bank either. There's another store in the Westside Pavillion mall (where parking isn't a problem).
Totally cute store with lots of a few well-edited items including jewelry and clothing towards the back. I liked how they organized the store by color.
I found a really cool minty green bracelet but then realized they have the same bracelet in many cool colors scattered through out the store.
Pricing is reasonable though nothing really screamed they needed to go home with me.
I had to deduct a star though because no one greeted me in the store. I just hate that.
This boutique is inspired from the "Varga" girls from the 40s, hence the name. Inside the walls are decorated with magazine clippings from the 40s, pin-up girls -- very retro inspired. First thing that attracted me to this store were the pretty pinks, reds, polka dots, strawberry and apple adorned hair accessories and jewelry. Girly and fun, and reasonably priced! Sheer red blouse with green apple motifs all over, $34. Ivory, red, and black babydoll dress with modern floral print, $59.
Other fun things: hello kitty earrings, cherry earrings, $15 trunk sale, chunky headbands with hearts, polka dots, strawberries, and other fun prints, cute change purses, necklaces for layering, jeans with cool back pocket stitching.
Open till 7pm.
Varga is a great place to find trendy yet unique clothing. I've yet to see another chick walk around in similar jeans that I purchased from there. The sales associate was perfect. Not too pushy, but not careless either. She gave me her honest opinion on a strappy top and pair of jeans that I purchased. The interior is the cutest. Kitch-like nick nacks with 50's icon posters. I've suggested Varga to a couple girlfriends in southern cal. area and would like to suggest it to all of you.
New reasonably-priced women's clothing store on Main St in Santa Monica. Edited like a boutique, but without boutique prices. Feminine dresses, skirts, tops. Some dresses look decidedly '70s retro, in a good way.
The owners, two sisters, are friendly and honest with their opinions. They helped me pick out an outfit on Sunday afternoon, to wear for dinner that night to introduce my bf to family.
I bought a mocha-colored cami (similar to the Sassybax torso slimmer cami but cuter) that made my abs look good, and a long, brown embroidered A-line skirt that flattered the waist.
On Sunday, they had two sales racks, one $15 and the other $25. Lots of dresses, tops, skirts in various sizes, not one-size-fits-xsmall like this one vendor at a recent sample sale, Sassy City Chicks.
Probably the highest price I've seen there is $50, usu for jackets & skirts.
Update: I went back to buy a feminine, fitted cream-colored jacket with ruffles on the cuffs and bottom edge. It had been so popular that they had to restock it. Last night, a woman who introduced herself as a clothing wholesaler stopped me at Trader Joe's to find out what brand my jacket was.
Cute little boutique with a friendly pinup vibe (without being cheesy, overdone retro)-- modern yet throwback era tops, dresses, and accessories. They had a sales rack outside and I managed to find a cute top for $21, half off. The sales ladies are very nice and immediately greet their customers and assist with getting your dressing room ready. The only minus is that the dressing rooms only have face-level mirrors, so you have to venture out of the dressing room to see yourself in the full-length mirror, which I hate.
i love varga!
their simple, but stylish look is perfect for signature pieces and everyday wear alike. their "trunk sales" (literally, a trunk outside the front door) are great (i found an adorable summer dress for about $25), but their prices are really pretty reasonable for a boutique anyway (i didn't see anything over $75ish.)
and compared to parking in the bay, it was really a cinch!
I found a great, black top here. According to the salesperson, it's identical to something they have at Anthropologie, except of course it's about half the price. I love the trunk sale. I don't often feel compelled to dig through piles of stuff, kneeling by a box, but the things they have here are sufficiently cute to demand such actions. Some of their things had some strange sizing (I'm a very consistent medium size for tops at most stores)--some things fit as I expected them to, while others were really really ridiculously small. When the urge to buy more tops hits me, I'm sure to be back.
