9 reviews for Van Nuys Golf Course
This is the perfect place for beginner golfers. They have an 18 hole beginners course that can be played 9 holes each or all 18 and then a 9 hole executive course for those beginners who are looking for a bit of a challenge. The executive course has three par 4 holes and the rest par 3s. The other 18 are all par 3s. Van Nuys also gives lessons, has a fully functioning driving range and a mini golf course for all the youngsters (or young-at-heart, um...sters).
The prices are very reasonable and most everyone that works there is pretty friendly. I'm definitely a beginner and I feel right at home at this place. Most times I go there hasn't been much of a wait. I never feel rushed and if I do? Well I've got a wide array of golf clubs to assault people with (my favorite is the 5 iron, straight and heavy for optimum bludgeoning results)! Ahem, anyway like I said, this is a great beginners course and loads of fun to play.

Van Nuys has an awesome 18-hole Par 3, which you can play straight-through, or just 9-holes if you want . Theirs also a 9-hole Executive Course that throws a few Par 4's into the mix. There's no sand or water traps anywhere, which makes it a great place for rookies like me. There's also a driving range and a strip club. Actually there's no strip club, but I did put it in their suggestion box.
This golf course is nice for beginners but they do not keep the grass in good condition, all the water hazards on the par 3 18 hole side have been drained. The driving range has seen better days. Last time I was there it seemed like it was family picnic day on the course, people were treating it like it was a park and hitting off any and every tee box they could. My friend got his ball stolen after he teed off by a little kid. The executive course is a lot nicer, this is the only course I would recommend playing even if it is a little advance.
There are 2 golf courses here depending on skills level. There is an 18 hole par 3 course that is great for beginners, and was the first course I have ever played, and by the speed of the course, it seems to be where everyone is learning to play.
The other course is a 9 hole executive course with some water hazards and is fun for those that have 'graduated' from the par 3 course.

I love it here. I try and go at least once a week. This is exactly what a public course should be. The have a 18 hole 3 par, a 9 hole executive course, and a large driving range. The prices are great, starting at $9 for 9-holes on the 3 par.
I have yet to play the executive course but the 3-par is really great and there is never a wait, and even if there is you can opt to play the back nine instead of the front nine. There is usually a small wait to get on the executive course.
They also have a large practice green and a pro shop.
Oh, be warned that it is right next to an airport and directly under the flight pattern so there is some noise from the planes flying over head. There is also a lot of geese that hang out on the greens that don't seem to have any fear of people and will not move if they are in the way.
This place really is as good as it gets.
We came here to shoot some balls at the driving range. It had been an insanely long time since my wife and I went golfing, and since I've never really taken any formal golfing lessons, other than the prerequisite hour or two of golf that we played back in PE in 7th grade, well... let's just say I suck.
I suck so bad people around us stopped shooting balls just so they could sit and watch, laughing their asses off everytime I swung at air and left the ball intact on the tee.
No really... I suck.
One of the young guys next to us was kind enough to stop laughing for a little while and gave me some pointers: keep the arm in front perfectly straight and break your wrist at the end. Don't try to kill the ball, simply do a slow and controlled downswing. Bend your knees. Put your feet apart a little more. Keep your eye on the ball at all times.
Then, I really really sucked. Because I now looked like a grown man going through an epillectic seizure while holding tightly to a golf club that occasionally hits the ball.
Nevertheless, it was a fun experience and this has gotten me in the mood to act like a fool more often. Thanks Van Nuys Golf Course!
A great, great place for beginners, children and those learning the game to come play a short course and enjoy the game. There are two courses here, a short par 3 and an executive course with a few par 4's. The courses are nice, friendly and wide. You won't lose your ball here. It's pretty attractive too, they planted a lot of tall palm trees here.
A great place to play when Woodley Lakes is overly busy and you can't get a tee time. Hey, it's also cheap here too. $9-17 for a round of golf. They also have golf pros here to help you with private lessons and they also have clinics for those who want to learn in a group.
A really cool aspect of this course is it's close proximity to the Van Nuys Airport so planes are just taking pff and landing just hundred of feet right above you. Some of those planes are private jets which really look cool and make a lot of noise. The golf range here is clean and they use nice synthetic mats and half of the range is shaded. It's really nice here to practice but be warned, of high winds, loud jet noise and of course, valley people.
This is a great place for beginners to practice golf. If you go there on a weekday, it's only $8 for 9 holes or $13 for 18 holes on the par-3 course. There's also an "executive" course if you want more of a challenge. There are very few people out there, so you can practice without feeling hurried or any type of pressure. Every one is very low key.

I've only used the driving range here but I was able to get a good sense of the courses and practice ranges. First of all, the staff wasn't all that friendly. When I went to the window to rent some clubs and buy a bucket of balls the guy was watching TV and seemed really bothered that I wanted his help. Also, their largest bucket of balls wasn't that large (insert joke here), so I almsot had to buy two buckets to get the number of balls I wanted (insert joke here). The grounds and practice ranges were plan but well kept.
