Great for the cheap well drinks and beer, but I could not go back - the smell of urinal cakes was too much to bear...
$2 gin and tonics? $3 beers? Sign me up! My boyfriend's a Cavs fan (he's finally over last week's loss) and one night while we were out with friends, he wanted to find a bar to watch the game. Not many (if any, in fact) of the bars in our area are of the sports bar/big screen tvs variety, so we walked into Van Gogh's because it looked relatively empty. Most people would view this as a sign to turn around and leave, but I actually like empty bars - that way I get to feel like I own the place, you know? Plus, $2 gin and tonics, c'mon. You'd stay too.
The very friendly and gracious bartender let us put the Cavs game on the big screen, which made my boyfriend happy. There's darts, which made me happy, and they're dog-friendly too, so our puppy Gertrude got to enjoy a night out as well.
Comfy chairs and lighting, but otherwise minus one star for decor and feel of the place, as well as the somewhat shitty juke box. Other than that though, this is definitely the type of place I'd come back to when I'm looking for a relaxed and cheap night out in Greenpoint.

The bartender was friendly, the drinks were the right price (FREE DRINKS for ladies on Mondays) and the darts were real. Not very many people there, but I was there to hang out with my friends not meet people so it didn't bother me. The inside of the place was pretty nice, too.
I would definitley go back again and again and again if I actually lived in Brooklyn.
I finally made it across the street, and went inside. Not much to say about the decor, but I liked the ceiling and large screen. The drinks were strong and reasonably priced. I went for the life music, and it was excellent. Truly enjoyed the show, and hanging out with the neighbors. I am glad I finally went in. Had a great time!

I have horrid memories of this bar, not because of the bar itself but because the last time I went I got so drunk I wretched all over the house.
That said, this bar is great, the owner has this fantastic motorcycle that makes you think it's too cool to ride. The inside of the bar is small but hip. There is a large screen TV that usually plays sports, which is not my favorite but it's not always sports.
It is far enough away from the main drag of places that on the weeknights it is never too packed to go in.
I loved it before I got too drunk to go back, because it was right across from my boyfriends house and it was the easy fall back if it was too cold, or we were too lazy to go far.
The drinks are a bit too expensive for the location, but then again if it is the only bar around then they can charge what ever they like.
Maybe some day soon I'll go back, and not drink too much there.
