Went to the Swap Meet with intentions of food sampling, Gangsta wardrobe shopping second.
Ohhhh, growing up in Cali, one of my favorite past times were hitting up the local swap meets (flea markets to people east of the Pacific time zone), and eating street food. The swap meet snack bar, while not street food, this converted Taquería is what drove me back here.
We ordered the #3 Carne Asada, #4 Quesadilla, #5 Steak Fajita. All slammin!! Great marinade and Mexican condiments. It is Cali-Mexican stilo at it's finest. Carne asado, well seasoned and char broiled to perfection. Fajitas are the same.
Swap Meets offer more than just Dickie's and Cholo socks. Always try the snack bar for some authentic grub.
Drive ins are great in general and seem to be making a come back. For families with young children they are a god sent. I can finally see some current movies without worrying about getting a baby sitter or worse yet taking my 20 month old into a theater. If you take a young child into a theater for a non kid movie you should be shot then stabbed and then set on fire. I have had too many movie experiences ruined by young children with parents who are so self absorbed that they let their kids run around and make as much noise as they want. This is the beauty of the drive in I can make stupid comments and my son can make as much noise as he wants.
I didn't get a chance to check out the snack bar so I can't commit but I have heard that it is decent. They have three screens with double features. The one thing I didn't like was that you were locked into one screening area, so I couldn't have moved to another screen if I didn't like the second feature at my screen. We saw Snakes on a Plane yesterday and it was awesome. Never before have I heard such great dialog such as "Get this f*cking snake off my dick" and Get this F*cking Snake off my ass." The best line by far though had to be Mr Jackson's "I am mother f*cking sick of these mother f*ucking snakes on this mother f*cking plan" Anyways go see a movie at the drive in and help them stay in business.
