Yes it is in the middle of nowhere.
BUT
It is ever so conveniently located between LA and Mammoth Lakes.

So we stopped here on our way back from June after a long weekend of getting ruined snowboarding. I should rephrase that...I was the one who was ruined being that it was my first time up on the mountain. I know what your thinking ("How does your butt feel?!") my bf and our friend were both in much better shape however. Anyways. So we decided to stop in and check out their wares before heading back to LA. I was totally up for it for the following reasons.

A: because I always like to find a good deal. Hello their name is Value Sports!
B: because I have developed a new love for a sport in which I need some more gear
C: just pull your car into the lot. you don't need any more excuses.

It's a pretty large store with everything you could possibly need if you snowboard or ski. There is a gigantic section of sale stuff, boots, boards, poles, skis, bindings, hats, gloves, clothes. You get the idea. They also have all the latest and greatest stuff out in the front half of the store if that tickles your fancy. I liking a good deal and wanting more bang for my buck hit up the sale section in search for some snowboarding boots. I walked away with a new pair of Salomon Fusion boots for only $89!! I was stoked!! The folks that work there are quite helpful too. I also got a cute knit beanie for only $10. I'm sure I would have kept shopping and found more awesome stuff if I weren't so completely exhausted and starving.

Stop in here. I'm sure there is something that you need.

Love, love, love this place. I got my whole set of snowboarding gears here, top quality stuff for less than $400. Got a Salomon board, top of the line flow bindings and burton's new heat sensitive conforming boots. They have mostly last year's models, but hey i'm not a trend follower. So I was happy with what I got. I had also wanted to get a helmet here too, but they didn't have a huge selection, and none of the ones they carried fit me very well. Oh, and I did see the new carbon fiber core boards, those are wicked! They also have the heat pouches to put in your gloves, that's really helpful for colder days in Mammoth.

The selection is huge, and for the fashion concious like me, I was able to find the exact color and style I wanted. The staff are all really nice and helpful, just couldn't understand why matching was so important to a woman!

If you time your drive to Mammoth just right you can stop here while it's open and get some fresh gear in time to use it on the mountain the next day. Value Sports isn't always the best deal around, but always better than the shops in town. Worth a stop since you're driving right by the store anyway. Great for last season's gear at discounted prices.

I like it for that "oh damn, I forgot my _____" kind of moment where you realize you and your gloves, goggles, helmet, whatever, are 300 miles apart just when you need them most.

I just returned from Mammoth and swung by Value Sports - It's awesome! Huge deals on gear. They have last years models and discounts of 70ish percent off. I ended up with some new boots and bindings for less than half of what I would have paid elsewhere. They also have a website, with free shipping I might add. Sure it's in the middle of nowhere, but if you're heading up to Mammoth it's worth the stop.

Great prices, next season i'll be getting my gear from here. You can get big name brand snowboard gear for close to 40% here, the good stuff too. Dont expect to buy small accessories here for cheap, its mainly snowboarding outerwear attire.
