Great place for harder to find items and well-priced veggies.

When are you guys coming to LA?

Toffee peanuts. Crazy mix. Need I say more?

This market isn't like the other markets in Simi valley. Some people might be put off by the "dirtyness" of the market--get over yourselves. The place has really good deals on fruits and veggies, has a lot of different ethnic stuff, and a pretty good deli, too. What I like most is the selection of dried fruits and nuts packages.

The only thing I don't really like is that some of the stuff in the market that is expired doesn't get put off the shelf. For example, I saw BBQ sauce that expired a year and a half ago; lol. Whatever though, just check before you buy.

This place is always crazy packed unless you show up 30 minutes before they close, and if you need anything from the deli or meat counter go pull a ticket and do some of your shopping while you wait because it's that backed up!  However, I can leave this place with more than 6 bags of groceries and have spent maybe $10!  Great for vegans or vegetarians looking to buy fresh produce cheaply!

There are good things and bad things about Valley Produce. I like that I can find items that I can't find at a regular grocery store. They have a nice selection of foreign groceries from a variety of places. We go there when we need certain Indian or Asian items because they are cheaper than going to a more specialized market. They also have a very wide selection of produce that the regular grocery stores do not carry.

While the produce section is very large in variety, the quality is not always there. By that, I mean that there are a lot of bruised and damaged items that you have to sift through in order to find the good stuff. You really don't have to do that at a regular chain store, but I guess that is why the produce at Valley Produce is so much cheaper than a chain store.

Also, the place can get pretty crowded and the aisles are very tight, so that can get frustrating when you are trying to get around the store. The large crowd is really not their fault, but it just makes it a little more frustrating to shop there.

I do have to commend their check out staff. They are super quick and there is never a line. There are always multiple lines open so you never really have to wait, which is really nice.

They have great prices and food from all nationalities! Sometimes their veggies can be a bit on the nasty side, but overall great place!

Stop here all the time for fresh veg British tea bags the real deal. Found this store when albertsons went on strike. I don't spend a lot of time in the big store any longer after the strike.

Great store if you're looking for something different or an alternative to the usual Vons, Ralphs and Albertsons, which all carry basically the same products at around the same price.

In fact, the store reminds me of the supermarkets that you find in other countries. You'll know this place is a bit different right as you walk in and notice the "hookahs" on the wall to the left and the sparsely filled wall at the front of the store that looks as if they're trying to fill space with whatever they can find.

The produce section is huge. About a quarter to maybe even a third of the store is dedicated to just produce. The meat and fish section is also about twice the size you'll find in the other supermarkets and they also have a separate deli section against the far wall as well.

The best part is the low prices, followed by plenty of hard to find ethnic foods. The down side is the quality is sometimes not the greatest. But when you take into consideration that at times their prices can be literally a fraction of cost you'll find elsewhere (especially on produce), it's great for what you're paying. Also, if you're looking for name brand items, like for specific recipes, they're not always there.

I'd give the place 5 stars, but the layout of the store could use some work. Products aren't always organized in specific locations, which means you sometimes have to look in different areas for the same product. Take spices for example. You can find them in three different isles. Or say, if you're looking for Indian "parathas" or "naan" breads in the frozen section, you'd better check all the freezers because you'll find some in one area and more in different areas and even some on the next isle over.

Best ethnic food store in the Conejo / Sim Valley area.

Valley Produce serves a unique niche in the area - offering Mid Eastern, Indian, Asian (Chinese, Japanese, etc.) and Mexican foods at rock bottom prices.  They particularly excel in their fresh produce.

The store is located on the intersection of First Street and Los Angeles in Simi Valley and is about the size of a Stater Bros. The store is divided into sections - the west end of the store is alcohol and produce, the center of the store are frozen foods and sections dedicated to the different ethic foods.  The back of the store is dairy and meats.  The east side of the store is a "deli" that serves fare from the mideast and Mexico.

We go there to buy almost all of our produce, since it has better variety than most of the grocery market chains and it is significantly cheaper.  For example - a cauliflower was $3 / lb at a Ralphs in Westlake, it was $2 / lb in the Vons in Simi Valley and $0.60 / lb at Valley Produce.  That's right 20% of the price.

The ethnic groceries are very reasonably priced - they have packaged and fresh items for Indian, Middle Eastern, Mexican and Asian grocery stores.  Their prices are competitive or lower than stand alone ethnic stores that I have shopped in the San Fernando Valley.

I still love this place.  Everytime I'm here, I'm amazed at how much lower the prices are than other places.

I got a package of really good whole wheat lavash for 99 cents.
Green pepper - 30cents (79 cents a pound)  Bosc pears 39 cents a pound, parsley 25 cents a bunch.  Artichoke 33 cents. Limes 15 for a dollar.  Yes, sometimes the produce is  a smaller size than what the megamarts get, and sometimes there are some that are bruised, but its worth it to me to look a little closely and save a big chunk of money.

I could go on and on but you get the idea.  They also have a wide variety of spices, dried fruit and nuts that are less than anywhere as well.  Whole cashews for 5.29 a pound!

Great prices for produce but don't forget the deli. The prices there are great and so is the selection. I'm German and I can find German lunch meats there. The cheese selection is also very good. There a German products all over the store. Check out the meat department! I never had a bad experience with the meat and deli products. I love this store!

I give this place a so-so review.  Most of the positives are due to the extremely low prices on produce.  On the other hand, cheap equals questionable and sub-par freshness of the produce.

Given I live out in Simi, I usually go to Northridge for grocery shopping (since Simi doesn't have a real Asian/Filipino store).

I would find myself at Valley Produce for quick things that I forget or run out of during the week.  Things like Chinese long beans, okra, japanese eggplant, bitter melon, etc. are fairly easy to find in this place.  They usually keep a good stock of it.  And price wise, they are very, very affordable.  I can get a grocery bag full of vegetables for less than 5 bucks versus going to Albertson's, Ralph's, or Von's and spending three times as much.

I've never explored the entire grocery since I only go there for the quick stops and I usually limit my visit to the the produce section.

My dad and I make the trip out here (not that it's far, but Trader Joe's/Vons are so much closer) at least once a month to buy ethnic foods/spices/drinks and inexpensive but really tasty fruits and veggies (as a general rule: be sure to wash thoroughly!). Overall, cheap prices. It's not the most glamorous of grocery stores (some people are sketchy), but I was ecstatic to find saag paneer in a box for me to just heat up and eat. Yummm..my fave. There is a bakery and deli in the back of the market. Parking is easy.

Incredible choice of FRESH AFFORDABLE produce!! Lots of hard to find MiddleEastern foods, Asian foods, etc.. Their selection of lavosh alone is huge!
Sure, it's not glitzy or high-end looking, but they shine where it counts- great produce for super-cheap!!
