Love this park. Usually fairly plentiful, free six hour parking, and only a ten minute walk to the beach.
Kids are plentiful with their nannies in tow on weekday early afternoons.
I frequent this place more for the parking than the recreation. There's a 3.75 mile greenbelt trail that runs adjacent to Valley. This trail is my favorite place to run. Its a lovely wood chip trail and given any point south of Manhattan Beach, is a short ten minute walk to the Strand.

There aren't many things that I compliment the City of Hermosa Beach on, but their Parks and Recreation staff is outstanding. As a resident, I made a reservation for an area in the park for my son's birthday party. The staff was great, making the reservation was as easy as it gets and when we arrived at the park that morning to set-up, we found the staff had already placed reservation posters on our tables. I didn't have to ask anyone to leave. Yeah for the Parks and Rec staff!!
The facilities at the park are great. Good play area for the kids, plenty of tables and BBQ areas, clean restrooms, lots of trees and grass. Best yet, our four legged family member may come along (on a leash, of course). This is a great family-friendly park FOR THE LOCALS. I just hope it stays this way.
Valley Park is one of these Southbay hidden gems that people often overlook. When everyone is getting drunk at the bars and breweries on Pier Plaza in Hermosa Beach, I will often take the peach and tranquility offered by Valley Park. This is a huge park!- a big giant grass area with oak trees, basketball court, swings for kids, restrooms, barbecues, even an amphitheatre.
A great place to bring the family, go on a walk or a jog by yourself, or spend some quiet time on a low cost picnic date.
Easily accessible by bike via the The Southbay Bicycle Trail, as well as the Green Line and Metro line 232 buses. You can still enjoy Valley Park even if you don't own a car.

This park is Nostalgia Lane. Big ass fire pit like the kind you sang around at your childhood summer camps, and lots of grassy knolls to roll down like you used to when you were a kid.

If I fell off of my back porch I would roll into Valley Park. So why don't I frequent it more? Dunno, but it's funny when you can fool your friends into thinking you have a ten acre backyard.
Looks like a great place for a picnic.

Greenery near the beach is often at a premium, so it's nice to see a grassy park in the heart of Hermosa Beach. Although this is a popular place, there is usually plenty of free parking. You will find sports areas, bar-b-q facilities, clean bathrooms, hilly paths for strolling. Not a huge area, but appreciated for what it is.
