I had them fix the stop light switch recently. They were knowledgeable, responsive and got it done properly. The hourly rate and cost of parts were reasonable. I will go back to have them done similar scale of repair jobs.

I got an oil change. It was an average experience.
No place to sit. The mechanic missed filling a quart of oil. He filled after reminding him. -

As much as I love driving around my VW, she is a prissy little bitch. I feed her mid grade fuel, get the tune ups on time, and I still have to take her in fairly often. Finding a reliable, trustworthy, and reasonably priced VW mechanic was not an easy feat. Usually, it is nothing major, just small problems. I took my car to VW a few times and was ridiculously overcharged (diagnosis alone is around $600), found a european mechanic in sunnyvale who charged up the butt, and then came to Tha (referred by a friend).
Today, for example, my front blinker went out. Getting to the front blinker requires a bit too much unscrewing for me so I stopped over at the 76. He must have had about 10-15 cars to work on and there were many people waiting for their cars. He quickly told me to pull in the garage, got me a new bulb, and sent me on my way in about 10 minutes and only charged $10 for the bulb and labor.
Glad to have found him! -

Stopped by to grab some cigarettes and wow the store clerk was such a rude man. He pretty much yelled at us for paying with a debit card saying there was going to be an additional fee.
Well guess what? We don't freaking care, charge us a dollar, we would have appreciated it if he was nice but wow I've never encountered someone so dang rude about charging a fee he probably has no power in authorizing. It was about 40 cents by the way.
Never coming back here again, although for a gas station the packed was only $4.99, which is cheaper than 7 Eleven or other gast stations the extra fee makes it the same as other places, LOL. Man, never again. -

Last week: I buy a car and take it to Chevrolet for a checkup. They give me the part numbers of the things to replace (TPS+connector).
Sunday morning: I take the car to 76 and ask for a quote, I give them the part numbers. They say they would call me back in an hour or so and tell me the total price for repairs.
Sunday evening: Nobody has called yet. I go there and they tell me that they're really busy and they couldn't look up the pieces.
I understand if your busy, JUST SAY IT, don't make me waste a day.
There was only a mechanic on Sunday so he tells me to go there the day after and they'll do it for sure.
Monday morning: I get there 15 minutes before they open. I am the first customer.
I explain again everything to the mechanic and go to work by bus.
Monday afternoon: I call to check on the car, a disgruntled mechanic tells me that THEY will call back once the work is done. Ok, I'll wait..
Monday evening, 7PM: nobody called yet, I decide to pick up the car whether they did the job or not.
No surprise in discovering that the car was still were I parked it.
Not only my car wasn't done but my documents were at the bottom of the stack of pending jobs, despite I was the first one that morning.
Once again, if you're busy JUST SAY IT. another wasted day.
Last but not least I ask my keys back and they just give them to me without even checking my documents. I could have driven away in somebody else's BMW and nobody would know my name. -
Review from David L.
San Francisco, CA
The following events are true.
The names have been changed to protect the innocent.
Saturday night "David G." we will call him, was attending a wedding reception at Dynasty a few blocks from here. Some time around 10:45pm he up and left the restaurant reason unknown. He was not to be seen again by anyone at this party.
Tis not the norm for David to just dissapear especially without telling someone where he was going. He is usually a well natured, thoughtful, reliable man. Dare I say a man's man. So what happened that fateful night? Why would he leave and not say a word to anyone especially to his designated ride home?
To further the mystery why would David walk a quarter mile to a gas station? What follies would he encounter? What was the ultimate goal of this trek? Surely there must be a sound explanation to the repeated question "What happened??"
Cognac happened. Lots and lots of Cognac.
David was drunk. David does not recall the point when it turned from gentlemanly sips to taking turns pouring the bottle into each others mouths but it surely happened.
As hard as we try we may never fully know the reasons for his departure from the setting of a joyous wedding to that of a self service gas station. The only insight into the matter comes from his sister who recieved a call from David using the gas stations phone requesting that she pick him up. When she arrived she found David eating ice cream bars with the gas station staff...laughing and having a fun time.
Davids bottom line- Thank you guys at Vallco 76 for not calling the cops on me. Thanks for letting me hang out with you and eat ice cream bars. I dont know about you but I had a fun time....okay I dont know about myself either. Cant remember crap. Cognac and I are no longer on speaking terms. -

I've been going here for service for my commuter car (Toyota) for the past few years.
Tha is one of the mechanics there.
Good , honest service and reasonable prices - especially on parts.
The manager usually sits down with me, we go on the internet together to find the parts needed and confirm prices right away.
Recently have got new brake shoes, tune ups, oil changes and smog checks with no issues, delays, or hassles.
I would advise asking for "Tha" when in need of service.
The manager, (I don't know his name), is a jovial middle eastern fellow with an easy-going nature and good sense of integrity. -

Oakland, CA
THIS PLACE IS AWFUL.
Terrible service, bad attitudes, completely irresponsible.. I can go on and on.
I work not too far from this station, and frequently get gas there (every other day), so I'm definitely a routine customer. I bought a commuter car, and took it to them to get the AC recharged, and I even called in to make an appointment--silly me. I was told it would be done in an hour.. and they will call me when to pick it up. 4 hours roll by, and Im about to get off work, so I call them, and the clerk said 'we dont even have a bmw here, u sure u got the right place'? Before I went into a panic, I looked at my paperwork and re-assured him. He kept saying "miss, we do NOT have your car here". Then I got placed on hold. After waiting about 5 min he hopped back on and said "oh yea we do have your car, but its not done". Now my blood is starting to boil, so I just told him forget it, I will just come pick the car up.
I walked over, and they started hooking up the ac chargers to my car AS I was walking up. I told the guy I had JUST called a few minutes prior and said to stop working on the car. His excuse to just getting to my car was "well it wasnt me you spoke with, so if it was me, I wouldve known your car was here". Ridiculous. My car was pulled into their repair shop LOL.
Needless to say, they are awful. They've lost my business for sure. And an official complaint was filed with 76 corporate. They shouldn't be operating a repair shop, they're awful, not licensed and dont care about their customers. I just am really disappointed, its like ordering a big mac--the cheap solution (getting a repair at a 76 gas station LOL) and when you open your bag you got a single dollar meal burger.. its just not the same. Even though it was cheap to begin with, you still expected it to be delivered. They dont deliver. It is safe to assume the majority of the people giving positive reviews to these guys actually WORK THERE and are posting it here themselves.
In simple terms---they suck. -

Good/honest mechanic and quick service.
We live in the neighborhood and is always suspicious about how packed this place is. We came down to 3 options
1. they're a really good auto shop
2. they're right off the freeway so ppl just go to them
3. they do a crappy job on the cars, so the owners have to go back to them
For my 90K service, I thought I'd give them a try. The employees were polite, patient and informative on the phone. They gave me the exact quote and details about what they would perform. I took it in and left the car there, even though they were few hours behind, they called me to inform me and I got my car back soon after.
Not much a mechanic myself, but the car seems to work fine and they were reasonable with their charges. Good shop! -

I really liked the service at this shop. It was thorough, no-nonsense, fairly priced, and the old Toyota ran great after their work. I am now taking my Honda there as well. Tha, the mechanic, also gives me a rundown on what he does and why, and when to plan future service.
Once they forgot to save the replaced parts, but apologized and fished them out of the bin to show me when I asked. All good.
They could improve slightly by calling people when their cars are done, as I kept waiting to hear from them a day later than expected. I have a feeling they are so busy trying to fix cars, based on their good local reputation, they just forget to call at times. All forgivable based on their great work ethic and stellar treatment of customers. It's like taking your car to a knowledgeable and honest family friend. -

Good place, but busy.
Yes, it is worth dealing with their no-nonsense attitude, because
they are honest and know what they are doing. Reasonable prices and reasonable time to wait for service. -

it is true, you can completely trust the mechanics here at the vallco 76 service on stevens creek.
we had major problems with our 99 camry, and decided to get them all fixed here. the motor for the window needed to be renewed, the water spout for the front window had to be replaced, and the fan belt needed replacing, and the transmission fluid needed to be flushed out and renewed. all in all, it was just a lot to do. we even left the car over night, and everything went dandy. thanks tha! -

My mom's husband has been taking his Mercedes vehicles to Nick for years. So, when my BMW 325i needed its coolant reservoir replaced, Nick was the go-to man. He replaced the coolant reservoir, radiator hose, and antifreeze for a total of $310. AND, it was done within an hour. That was my first experience with Nick = AWESOME!
My second experience with Nick required all 4 of my breaks on my BMW 325i to be replaced. The Driving Machine wanted to charge $1500! Okay people, we are in a recession, and I understand that owning a German car comes with a price, but FFS (for fucks sake)! $1500?!?!?! So, we call Nick. He quoted us at $800 and we took the car in the next day. He ended up asking for $750, which is HALF THE PRICE the Driving Machine was asking for. I'm not trash talking the Driving Machine. In fact, I take my BMW there to get her oil serviced, since they do such a fantastic and thorough job (5 stars for them), BUT as far as repairs go, I would much rather take my car to Nick, since he is fast, does QUALITY work, and costs less. Oh, and all four breaks were replaced in 2.5 hours My fiance took my car in at 8:00am, and she was done at 10:30. Now tell me, if you were to leave your car at say a BMW dealership, won't they ask you to leave the car there for at least half the day? Um no thanks. I have things to do and people to see. Plus, I'm not trying to make payments equivalent to a mortgage on a house.
Nick used to work as a master technician for Mercedes for many years, so it's no wonder that he's amazing at his job. He ONLY WORKS ON GERMAN CARS, so don't be surprised if he talks crap about Japanese cars. It's just his sense of humor. He's hell of a guy and takes care of your baby German car.
Quick Tip: He usually asks for payment in check form. Call 24 hours in advance if you want your car to be serviced/repaired. -

I drive by this place every.single.day and it's always PACKED. I dropped in today (11:45 - lunch time!) without an appointment to get a smog and it couldn't have gone more smoothly. All I did was bring my DMV notice and fill out a little half sheet with my info and 15 minutes later it was done! Tha helped me and was very nice and very fast. He made two copies of the inspection report for me so I didn't even have to make my own copy to send to the DMV. The whole thing cost me $49.20 and took less than 20 minutes out of my day. For anyone who needs to get a smog done and get it done fast, I'd definitely recommend this 76.

I went for an oil change today and they said it would be a couple hours. I dropped my car off at 10:30 and I didn't get a call from them until 5!! It wasn't even that cheap ($30). When I went to pick up my car, the cashier was so rude. I'll be going to the Jiffy Lube across the street next time.

I just got my car back from them.. they were quick efficient and reasonably priced.. really happy with their service.. and have taken my car in before several times before.. My dad has taken his car there as well for the past 3-4 years.. with no problems...
this time it was to fix my car door window which couldn't go up - motor part got broken.. I checked how much it would cost to get it fixed at the Toyota dealership.. $700-800 + $130 - just to see what was wrong with it.. while Tha - knew right away what the problem was by taking 5 minutes to troubleshoot while i was there.. I saved about $550 taking my car there and they fixed it right away for me... the toyota dealership told me to come back on Monday........
ask for Tha when you drop off your car.....he is awesome.. he always helps you immediately, is honest, quick and efficient.
I also took my car there to get the radiator replaced...
u should definitely go to Vallco 76 for car repair
just fyi in response to a review.. they are open on Saturdays -

I have been taking my cars to Nick for close to years when he used to be with Cupertino Sales & Service. He has a loyal list of Mercedes and BMW owners. The first time I took my car into his shop one of his customers came up to me and said Nick is the best. I have taken my old BMW and now my Audi to him. The most recent time I had a written quote from Audi of Stevens Creek for about $10K (also their repair guy told me if I did not get the work done I wouldn't even be able to donate the car to charity... and I only brought the car in to have the brake pads/rotors replaced). Anyways, Nick checked all the items on the suggested repair list with my car on his lift and said they were unnecessary. He also lets me borrow one of project cars whenever he needs more time to fix my cars.

I've been taking my numerous cars here for about 14 years, and we have not once been screwed over by them, or had any negative experience. Tha is a great mechanic (not too patient) but maybe thats cause he knows me. He kept my '94 chevy blazer alive for the longest time. It still starts somehow...the gas, well thats not the employees, thats our federal government....4 dollars!?!?!?!?!? WTF? Anyways, great place. They are not open on weekends though (the auto shop). Once, I brought my car to Tha for some random, unknown problem, and I was back on the road in about 3 hours. He said it was a loose screw. Most mechanics would tell me this and that is broken, and I need this and that part... nope, he only charged me 10 dollars too!

I've been here twice now for oil changes. Very nice and honest chaps, doing quick & efficient work for a fair price. I'm considering bringing my car here for more work, that I otherwise might've gone to the dealership/specialist. 5 Stars!

I rarely take the time to write reviews anywhere. After I moved to Cupertino I needed to find a local mechanic and decided to go here based on it's location and the positive reviews. I've been here twice and was both times were very impressed with how quickly they work and how reasonable their charges are. I am used to having mild aneurisms every time I get a quote from a mechanic, but not here, and my recent brake work even came in a little under the estimate given on the phone. I've NEVER had that. Tha also was good enough both times to let me know of other issues he spotted in the car and let me know the urgency in getting them fixed. Very happy with them and I'm so glad to find a mechanic I can trust.
