Went here on a date night because I was craving some seafood and we had a coupon.
There was a good mix of people (around 6:30), child friendly, groups and couples.. a saxophone player setting the mood..
The restaurant was a little shabby, not to say it wasn't clean.. It just wasn't what you would consider more upscale..
I ordered the crab cakes (they weren't that great, but in their defense I was thinking I was going to get stuffed crab), my husband ordered the crab stuffed flounder which he said was pretty good. Their hush puppies were the real hit! I'm going to say the best ever..they were that good.
Wait service was OK - the waiter was really friendly and made good drinks. The owner himself came by the table and personally introduced himself and asked if we were doing okay which I thought was pretty cool.
We'll probably go back and order something different. I may go check them out during lunch because I heard they have rockin' po-boys.

Looking for great food at a great price? How about terrific service and a wonderful, fun atmosphere? If you are, stay away from Valentino's. When we arrived, the restaurant was dead quiet except for a movie playing in the bar. We had 3 kids with us, and this seemed perfect. We were seated so they could both see and hear the movie. Then they cranked up the store sound system playing country music. And I do mean cranked. I had to yell across the restaurant to get our servers attention. When we finally did get the music turned off, they also turned off the volume on the TV.

Luckily, it was time to order. 1 cajun steak and shrimp, 1 stuffed baked fish, 3 orders of chicken fingers. Easy fare. The food came out quickly, which is the only good thing I can say about it. The children immediately complained about their food. I tasted one, prepared to tell them it was fine....it wasn't. The chicken and its breading were completely tasteless. They also dripped with oil. The only thing edible on the plates was the garlic bread. The baked fish was only missing the oil part of the previous description. The Cajun steak and shrimp? Apparently Cajun means "burnt and tasteless". The shrimp actually crumbled when I picked them up. The steak I ordered "Medium Well", which it was on the inside. The outside was black and greasy. There were no grill marks. I can only assume it was cooked on a fryer in the back.

The waitstuff hung out watching the TV and barely checked on us much less acknowledged us.

Avoid Valentino's even if it means eating at McDonalds. Trust me, you'll enjoy it more.

If I can save one person the unnecessary expense of eating here I will be happy.  My husband and I went on a Sunday at 4pm.  It was pretty empty aside from the two patrons at the bar and a couple seated in the main eating area.  Maybe its not such a good idea to visit a restaurant in broad daylight I thought to myself.  It looked as though the floor and tables had not been cleaned from the night before.  Our waiter gets up from the bar where he is watching a movie and we are seated.  But wait, before I can sit I have to swipe the strand of hair and crumbs off my chair.  My husband notices the napkin containing his silverware is dirty.  I check mine out and yes, it is dirty as well.  I let the waiter know.  We get clean ones.  Next my husband is served flat cola.  We are informed the carbonation machine is down and are offered various un-carbonated beverages.  When the raspberry ice tea comes there is lipstick on the glass.  I go to use the ladies room.  On my way out I look into the portion of the kitchen visible to me.  It looks disgusting from the small area I can see.  I go back to my table and really want to leave but stay anyway.  Our dinner comes.  My fried oysters are barely warm and taste bitter.  The fried okra is like rubber.  The hushpuppies are burnt.  My husbands seafood platter is bland, the shrimp over cooked, the bacon around the shrimp undercooked.  It was just horrible.  I'm disgusted.  On the way out the owners picture is posted on the wall.  I'm embarrassed for him.

I was born in Galveston and by virtue of being a BOI, I am very picky about seafood.  It must be fresh and can not be frozen at all.  I can tell immediately if seafood has been frozen and I just cant eat it.

People who dont like seafood I have found have most likely only eaten frozen seafood and its no wonder.  Freezing changes the texture and  taste.

As for Valentinos its very freash !!!!!!  The crab cakes are the best but pricey.  They are all crab meat no fillers and you get two sides of   your choice.

I also like the shrimp, Either Shrimp PO Boy (I eat the shrimp off ) and you get two sides or the dinner Shrimp, which is really the same as PO Boy with out the bread.   I was not impressed with the seafood Enceladas, I do not like the stuffed flounder as its small and stuffed with a bit of crab, I do Love the Shrimp Dip as an appetizer and if you do order the stuffed Jalepeno's be ware that they are very HOT.  The hush puppies are terriffic !  The cole slaw is unusual more salad like but you will like it.   They offer asparagas as a side which is great for vegie freaks.

The have a full bar if you like to drink and the decor inside is what I call MONOCROMATIC BLUE !!!!!!!  Which means many shades of Blue.  Now blue is my favorite color but it does get you a bit dizzy after a while, but there are breaks in the color with white tones and I love the sparkles in the floor tile and pretty pendalum lights, and original art, with a beautiful seafoam decor.

The resturant is family owned by Mark Valentino, they have his mothers hand painted art for sale in bathroom and hall, along with family historical photos in hall.

My recomendations for this resturant to improve !!!  Offer free Bread to eat and butter to guests.  Improve stuffed flounder with real stuffing and larger fish, Offer other freash fish dishes !   And add crab cakes to Seafood platter.
