Neighborhood: Bernal HeightsState Consumer Assistance Program has been suspended! …
Announced 3 weeks agoGreat smog shop. I was in and out in 20 mins and it was $50 out the door including everything. Yes I passed too.
guy that works here is great , i failed smog checks on my cars about 4 or 5 times in the past 2 years , he hasnt complained or charged me extra one time , a very nice waiting room for a smog check place , this is definately the best deal in the city for a smog check $50 not a penny more with a coupon of course . I hope this guys buisness starts blowing up because he runs a very good policy for customers .
Want a good-as-it-can-get smog-check experience? Go here. Be sure to print out the coupon from their Web site first. I had to wait a little while, so I grabbed lunch up on Mission Street -- very handy. The waiting room is nice enough, too; lots of gamer mags. Quick and easy. And my car passed!
Very good place for the price. They stand by what they offer. $50 for complete smog check, pass or don't pay. Other places charge $50 including fees for Cert and EPT. Original is $59 for smog + fees, with the coupon is $50 flat fee. Once you go in, you will see signs that say "Even if you fail, you must pay smog pretest fees, etc.." Don't get alarmed, they stick by their words, and if you don't pass, you don't pay. I did not pass, and I left with a smog test diagnostics report for free. I am now going to take that report to http://smogcheck.ca.gov/ and apply for the low income, financial aiding. If I were to get this smogged elsewhere, I would have to pay the original smog fee, w/o the cert/etf fee. Instead, I now have the opportunity to apply for the CAP.
The Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) offers two options to help California consumers whose vehicles fail their biennial (every other year) smog check.
Qualified motorists can receive up to $500 in emissions-related repairs through CAP's Repair Assistance Program.
For what? For free. Not that I would encourage people who knows they are going to fail to come here, but instead to come here because the people are really helpful and honest. Plus this place is one of the most affordable smog checks for a "Pass or don't Pay" policy. If you're looking for cheap smog places, it'll cost $18 + 11 after fees. Which is around $30. If you fail, that's your loss. Not at Valencia! $50 if passed.
After I came to Valencia Smog Station, I paid zero, and now have the opportunity to get funding from the government to pay for it.
Went for a SMOG check before selling my vehicle.
The Good:
1) Service was fast- depends on the work load!
2) Friendly atmosphere
The Bad:
1) Smelling the exhaust fumes from the vehicles they are checking
The Ugly:
1) Minus one star for the erroneous $50 price tag listed on yelp.
IT IS ACTUALLY $60 for SMOG!!!!!

I've been here twice to get my cars smogged and these guys were fast and friendly. Look on Craig's list or in the Advertiser for coupons ($50 including certificate)
Plain and simple...painless and pretty inexpensive!
I didn't even have the coupon and he gave me the discount. Smog check took about 15 minutes and $50. You will be happy you chose these guys to do your SMOG!

Highlights: Open 8:30am - Smart - Nice - Likes Cars
This was the only place in the city I could find that opened pre-9am, so I made up my mind that I'd get there ten minutes before they open (open 8:30!) and get in to work barely missing an hour. Oops, look like a bunch of smarties beat me to it, so I can blame no one but myself on that. The guy gave me a conservative estimate that it would take 40 minutes before he'd be done with the two other cars and he was pretty much dead on. 40 minutes later he was smogging my car and I was wandering around my old neighborhood kinda bored, so I walked back over after eating a bagel and he was pretty much done. We talked for a few minutes while he sent all my info to DMV. I printed a $10 off coupon, which is almost always available. The guy seemed surprised when I tipped him, so when you go, friends, be nice, this guy just saved you from having to deal with the DMV.

Super nice people. Efficient. No hassles. Pay only if you pass policy. Look up possible coupons on the SFAdvertiser. It was $50 total including all the certificate stuff ($39 before).
I was served by what seemed to be a mom and son pair. The mom insisted I take chocolate and tea on my way out... Good people!

Super fast, super friendly and the price is right! Don't know if it is a special right now, but $50 out the door (cert/ETF included) is a great price. Would come here again for our next smog!

Took my car in for a smog check here a few weeks ago, and it was fast and cheap. No hassles to speak of...which means a lot to me, since I still approach real-world, adult-like tasks, such as taking my car in for a smog check, quite tentatively. This was great though-very friendly service, no monkey business, and the guys running it were chill.

Great service. With the low coupon price of $50, I was a afraid there would be a long line, but when I arrived at 2:45pm on a weekday, there was none. I was in and out and about 20 minutes. No added charges, $50. out the door. I passed the smog test and they were very courteous. I was glad I drove a little out of my way to go there. They were cheaper than other smog test-only stations that were closer.
The best smog shop I've ever been to. Almost all are nasty spots where there is a broken down chair next to a rat hole or barrel of oil at a gas station, but not here. A comfy room where I can pick up the latest Guardian and see whats playin this week at the Independent. They even have a menu book there just in case I get the munchies, it is in the Mission District so there is so much to choose from. Not to mention they are conveniently at one (or three) of the easiest streets to locate in San Francisco (Valencia, Cesar Chavez/Army and Mission) right across from St. Luke's Hospital. They have prices posted up before you decide whether you want to smog or not. And if you don't pass, you don't pay. What better deal can you get then that? Unlike some of the other smog places these guys put up a reliable, quick and honest establishment! Cool cats too, real laid back folks.
Cheers to you guys! Return customer (or guest I should say) for sure!!

Went in late in the afternoon on a weekday last month, and it was a quick and easy experience. It's always nice to have that extra security that you don't pay if you don't pass as well. Friendly staff made it as enjoyable as a smogging experience could be.

Fast, Cheap, no shady stuff, really cool chill laid back employees. These guys know their cars. Charges were very straight forward and no hidden fees. Everything is listed on a board in front of you in the waiting room. MUST GO IF YOU NEED A SMOG CHECK!

Walk ins(maybe drive ins are more accurate) welcome! Make us your choice for all your smog check needs. Even if you only have a question, give us a call! If you've visited us before, please leave a review. It would be greatly appreciated! We would like to know how we're doing.
P.S. "Peter Q." has NEVER come into our shop for a smog check. He is merely trying to cause trouble for us and it seems also for Smog Queen. Passing a car with a "check engine light" on is illegal(considered a form of computer fraud by the state). We try our best to do our job by the book!
So Peter Quistgard, if that is your real name, please, if you will, grow up.
Just a reminder, we DON'T charge you unless your car PASSES!!!! I should know. I work here. Thanks to all my REAL customers. MUCH LOVE TO YOU!!! :)

I showed up right when they opened. I was the first in line. The whole process took about 15-20 min. The staff was friendly, and seemed efficient. (Much more so than the DMV! ) I would go back.
I lived in LA for six years and I used to go to this smog check place in Culver City where the guy would get halfway through the testing and then he'd summon me out into the alley behind his shop so we could discuss how my car "might" not pass the test. With a lot of hand-wringing and brow-wiping he'd struggle through an elaborate circumlocution revolving around the idea that there were things that could be done that "might" have something to do with the eventual outcome of the test. I acted like I had no idea what he was talking about because I really had no idea what he was talking about and then he'd check both ends of the alley (for what?) then tell me it would be fifteen more minutes. This always made me uneasy. Somehow my car passed, but while I was at that shop I felt like at any moment federal agents would come rappelling down from the sky out of helicopters equipped with special listening devices and throw us all into Guantanamo for reasons beyond rational comprehension.
My point is, I never felt that way at Valencia Street Smog Station. Quite the opposite, in fact. At Valencia Street Smog Station I felt like I was paying a fair rate for top notch service by a person who I could trust. What more could you ask from a neighborhood business?

Great place...The Tech. was really quick and even had time to explain the test results. I would definitely recommend this station.
These guys are hella cool. They didn't reject me because my car was lowered ( cuz some other place said they couldn't do it because my car was too low ) and they were very careful with it putting it on the smog machine. Also the cool thing was that if my car didn't pass I didn't have to pay and the price is very reasonable. This place gets my vote !!!

Great service. Popped in on a Saturday morning and was all set and on my way 20 minutes later. Slightly cheaper than typical smog checks as well, so you can't go wrong.
