13 reviews for Vail Cascade Resort & Spa
Beautiful location, spacious rooms, friendly staff, free access to Avia fitness center, noon checkout! Confusing layout!
FYI - this is an off season review - We were here for a wedding. We had originally only planned to stay 1 night, but a wedding emergency brought us up a night early.
The room was beautiful. Obviously built to accommodate the room you need for winter activities!
Bed was very comfortable. Ceiling fan in the room was a nice touch.
Good size fridge available. Bathroom was bigger than the normal ones where the door barely passes the camode!
Views were nice - we had an inside view, but could still see the mountains.
The layout of the hotel is a little bizarre. Once you get the hang of it, it's not big deal, but bring your map with you - the one your key comes in!!
The fitness center - i can't even call it a gym - is georgous! Tons of equipment. Large weight room. Amazing!
The "Market" - has tons of choices for quick snacks and things you forgot
The fireside lounge is fun! We partook of some nachos and beer on the deck. Mmmm!
The valets are very helpful and friendly. Quick to get to you, quick with the luggage.
Front desk - helpful - we had done a couple things wrong - like valeting the car instead of self park (which was included in our package) - and they fixed it for us.
There is a walking path right behind the resort that takes you to Lions Head and Vail Village. Nice walk, right by the creek.
It was a very enjoyable stay! I will be back!
They have their own chair lift - gotta try that out!

Thanks to Priceline, we stayed at the Vail Cascade this weekend after my husband finished the Triple Bypass bike ride. The hotel is beautiful and very comfortable. We were with fellow Yelper Kristina R. who was traveling with two small children (6 mos. and 3 yrs.) and I felt like for the most part the hotel was pretty accepting of the kids and accommodating with their needs (e.g., Pack-N-Play, kid's menus, etc.)
We had a room with two queen beds and I felt like the beds were just a tad small (we have a queen at home and it feels bigger...) but otherwise the rooms were nice with a giant flatscreen TV. The parking fees are a little steep, but convenient and the hotel staff was very nice and friendly.
We ate at the restaurant in the hotel last night and this morning and enjoyed both meals. As well, we spent the majority of the day laying by the pool and it was great. There are plentiful fluffy towels and pool-side refreshment service (drinks, finger food, etc.) The hot tub lives up to the "hot" part of its name and the view of the nearby river is amazing. I could have laid there all day.
Although Priceline selected our hotel, I'll proactively seek out Vail Cascade in the future and hope to return there soon!

Nice place, and got a good rate on priceline.
Extremely convenient. Valeted the car after driving from Denver, rented skis at the shop, and walked to the lift 20 feet from the building. Afterward, eat at the totally decent restaurant, sit outside by the fire, or go hang out in the hot tub (and infinity pool).
Hassle free! Makes it tough to want to leave the premises, but if you do, can take a free shuttle to the Vail Village or Lionshead (comes every 10 minutes or so).

This resort was absolutely gorgeous.... We went during the off season and I expected it to be boring, but it was not.
Here's the breakdown on why it only got four stars... The entire village of Vail is under major construction, but the stores were still open and every time I looked around I was amazed by the incredible views. Looking out my window I had a great view of the stream and a perfect view of the chair lift. If I had gone during snow season I would've been able to walk out of the hotel and get right on the mountain!
However, the wifi in our room didn't work which could've been from the construction. Also, we left our room around noon and the maid service didn't come because apparently they were already gone for the day. This made me not happy =( I'd like to think they stick around later during peak season, but still one of my favorite things about staying in a hotel is coming back to a clean and fresh room.
The spa was gorgeous and amazing, semi-costly but well worth it. There is a relaxation room with a fireplace for you to wait in and the massage I got was incredible and left me feeling like jello. The sauna was immaculate and smelled like eucalyptus and the rest of the spa facilities were just as incredible!
I'll have to go back during snow season to re-evaluate, but I can definitely see why this is a four star resort!

I just attended a conference at the Vail Cascade at which I was a presenter and was on the conference organizing committee. Our conference had approximately 350 attendees and about two dozen vendor exhibitors. I must say that the Vail Cascade was one of the better venues we have ever used. We were so impressed, that we are already talking about when we can come back.
Here are some highlights from the perspective of a conference planner:
1) Room rate was great for a mountain resort. The rooms were very comfortable and in close proximity to the conference facilities allowing attendees to slip back to their rooms during breaks.
2) The conference facilities were well laid out. We had very few problems with sound and the rooms were always clean and organized session to session.
3) The meals were great and the staff was very accommodating. In an instant, they set up an extra table and made 25 extra lunches when we were short one day because of extra last minute attendees.
Overall the staff was wonderful to work with. The conference went off without any problems. I can't wait to come back.

Vail Cascade resort touts itself as Vail's only "Four Diamond Resort." The design of the place is mostly high-mountain, Western chic, but it is nowhere as Disneyworld "Timber Lodge" as the Vail Ritz.
Our room was comfortable, with lots of nice little details like a small shelf above the sink in the bathroom for small toiletries, or a humidifier waiting in the closet . It did, however, have doors leading to other rooms, offering the capability of turning multiple rooms into one big suite. Great if you use it, extremely noisy if you don't. Seriously, if you check into a room at Cascade and see one of those locked doors leading to an adjacent room, get moved immediately. Your neighbor's every sneeze will be audible, as will the TV programs they opt to watch.
The staff at Cascade at Vail all offer excellent service, until you step into Chaps, the on-property restaurant/steakhouse. Chaps offered great views, decent food, and mediocre service. Our experiences at Chaps were so bad that they warrant their own review. At most other hotels our experiences at Chaps alone would have drug it down to less than 3 stars, that's how bad it was.
But the rest of the hotel staff are what made our trip. We didn't have a car, but needed to get into town to shop for some supplies. Concierge got a shuttle van to take a detour from its normal route to drop us off at City Market, and come back and pick us up when we were done.
I lost a piece of my laptop, and they had it waiting for me the next time I walked through the lobby. They were friendly, offered excellent service and advice, and repeatedly went above and beyond the call of duty. Too bad they can't imbue the same sense of customer service to the wait staff in the restaurant.

Comfortable rooms and nice enough staff, but it doesn't have the infrastructure to support a conference or meeting. Interweb access was slower than dial up in the rooms - and the 'free' wi-fi in the lobby was 'broken' - and our event sprawled into the tennis courts, whose very narrow access hallway was barely wide enough for one person.
That said, had I been here on vacation, I'd not have needed that, and the other amenities - free shuttle service, private lift, a market/cafe with high priced necessities - would have been ample for my needs.
If you're looking for easy access to Vail Village or even the Lionshead Village, this place may be too far away (and too quiet).

OK, Here's the skinny. It's totally gorgeous but...The staff was so rude! The Valet verbally assaulted me the minute I stepped out of my car. After parking in the garage, which is not close, the front desk clerk (whom I had to wait in line an eternity to speak to) was just as rude. I was literally tearing up by now.
Thank goodness I got to my room, which was amazing! The pillows and comforter were awful to sleep with though. I had a room on the first level so my patio doors opened right onto the lake, which was the most beautiful part of the trip. (See my photo's above.)
Here's the painful part. The hotel asked me to put a deposit down on my room (because I have a certain type of Master card) which I was happy to do, but then they kept that deposit for three months! I had to call their finance manager several times to get the deposit back, which was just an oversight on their part.
The hotel costs were very high, on my little art teachers budget, so I expected this to be a wonderful vacation. My final bill reflected costs that I was verbally told wouldn't be charged to my room. Very frustrating!
One evening in the bar, which is lovely, I ordered a small ceasar salad because the restaurant was overflowing. I waited over an hour for that little salad to come. The next morning, as I was rushing out the door to get to the next fun adventure. I ordered room service of two boiled eggs. I asked if it would take more than 30 minutes to get to my room, and when "yes" came back I decided to head down to the restaurant and place the order there, to go. It took 45 minutes for 2 boiled eggs in a to-go box, with no waiter. I ordered from the hostess, and waited at her podium.
Even though everywhere you look in the resort, it is stunningly beautiful, I wouldn't stay here again. The service was one star, while the facility is 5 star.

Not impressed whatsoever but I'm sure I would appreciate the hotel much more during the winter season. We stayed there for a night during Labor day Weekend. Cascade hosted a Jazz festival in their Centennial Ballroom and there was the Vail Wine festival going on so the town was bumping (did I just say that?).
Anywho, the stay was fine, nothing spectacular. The Aria Spa located across the street was a nice little treat. My Mom and I took a Yoga Stretch class.
The resort itself was a bit old and beaten up. Saying that if I went during the winter, I'd probably enjoy a lot more even though we would have paid 3 times as much as we did this time around.

Stay here and it will be hard to leave the property. I read some older reviews of the place- perhaps it was under construction at one time, but those renovations have paid off. Everything seems new and clean, but still has a rustic cozy vibe and gorgeous views of the mountains and creek. Outdoor fire pits, a heated pool and hot tub that blend into the scenery, and a bar and lounge area with a roaring fireplace are just a few perks. The spa is fantastic- the massages are a bit pricey- but you can still pamper yourself with the use of the steam room and indoor jacuzzi. One of the best perks is the ability to rent your ski equipment on site and walk 20 feet to the lift. The mountain is huge, so if you end up west, it takes some careful planning to get back east to the resort lift. Worst case scenario, you take a shuttle back from Lionshead or Vail Village, which make round trips from the transportation center to the hotel every 10-15 minutes. We were there for a conference and birthday, and had a wonderful time. I would stay at this place again in a heartbeat.

I forgot to review where I stayed for 2 nights (came home yesterday) since I was busy reviewing lousy restaurants there. It is definitely "off" season in Vail now with an unusual never-heard-of 100 degree record heat this past weekend. I saw the pictures of the snow covered hotel during ski season and it was quite beautiful.
Vail became a famous resort after the town of Vail was incorporated in 1965. When Gerald Ford became prez in '74 and it became known that he had a house there, the place started getting recognition worldwide and boomed as a premier ski resort.
Why the boring trivia? I just don't have much to say or have any mirrored ceiling shots like I have of my Vegas weekend last week. It was pretty subdued.
You cannot stay here during record summer heat because they don't have air conditioning; just a ceiling fan. I tossed and turned drenched in sweat. Yuk.
During ski season, I heard that you can ski right up to the hotel and they serve you hot chocolate and give you warm shoes.
Beautiful river running by the hotel, with a gondola close by which is walking (skiing in winter) distance.
I just couldn't appreciate anything tyrolian, alpine, fireplaces,or the ski lodge vibe in the summer heat. Nothing tasted good either. Would love to go skiing there in the winter though.
What came out of this trip? An interest in hiking and trail biking....and an appreciation for air conditioning. (Global warming sucks)

Just got back from a 1 night --Gotta get away from reality night.
Started out late, so didn't make it up to the VC till 10pm ish
Check in was a breeze --- very friendly, even jovial. Since the hotel was near empty, we were "upgraded" to a Mountain View !! Wow....our patio backed up to the Creek. Just amazing.
We found a great price on Expedia, and the VC hotel reservation matched the price.
The room itself was terrific. One huge room, with a separate commode/bath tub.
Huge closet, spa robes for 2 , bar with all the fixin's for coffee/tea, frig, flat screen tv over chest of draws, wonderful bed, sitting area with couch, club chairs, and desk for internet use --wired only.
The next day we wandered the property, well, we wanted to, but gave up after realizing that much is still closed due to construction.
The main pool/hottub was closed, which is where we wanted to AM breakfast. I heard it's all year, water temps kept very warm. Oh, well.
We ate at StarPuke--yuk. I ate a sandwich out of a warming tray. Made McD's look yum, oh, and 2 sandwiches, and 2 coffees --$25. SICK
We went to the spa where the only open pool /hottub was. The pool was tiny, and none too hot--same for the hottub, so after an hour of sunbathing in high 70's sun, we went inside to the inside hottub. Also tepid, but beautiful.
Pretty soon it was time to check out, so we departed to Vail Village.
All in all, a terrific stay. Only bummer was check out. They charged the card which we held the room on-- usually we're given an option at checkout --a $39 overcharge for me. Ouch.

This place is AMAZING!!!!!! Absolutely beautiful (even in off season) and great because the hotel is dog friendly. We went believing we would get the shaft since we requested a "dog room," however, this was not the case because the room was extremely clean and RIGHT on the river (unlike the other rooms who were above us and had only balcony views). We were able to walk out of our room onto a big yard that was intercepted by the river. They also provided a dog bed, dog treats and dog dishes for feeding time. It was simply beautiful and very "user friendly."
