This was the epicenter for a recent visit to SoCal. It's not the greatest hotel -- in terms of location, decor, or service -- but it's not bad. It's actually a pretty decent hotel for the price, which is quite reasonable.

They were doing some work on the building out front, so there was a bit of a construction vibe, but the insides of the hotel were clean and comfortable. John, the desk man, was a little frazzled but warmed up after a couple of exchanges. The lobby features free cold water, juice, coffee, and local newspapers. (But not Random Lengths; what's up with that?)

Our room itself was great. We were on the street side, which might be a little bit noisier than the back side, but Gaffey's not that loud a thoroughfare. The room was clean and had all the amenities we needed. That said, I do prefer my hotel shampoo in bottles, not little packets.

There's a pool, which we didn't use, and checkout time is at 11.

Not bad, but I'll probably explore other options next time I'm in the area.
