Literally, the best. If you love your car as much as you love a pet or a sibling, and you want the very best quality service at the most honest and reasonable prices, look no further than Vaco.

You will also never meet anyone quite like him.

I would go into specific areas, only it might imply that he is not perfect in the areas I don't discuss. So let's just leave it there.

I just logged on to give this place a great review, after they replaced my fuel filter for free.  I've been here many times and this isn't the first time I've had something small done, tried to pay, and the owner told me "Don't worry about it."  This place has kept my '85 300D running like a top, at rates much lower than my last mechanic, performing everything from brake jobs to extensive body work after a collision, and they've always been an absolute pleasure to deal with.  Vaco has even given me free advice over the phone several times when I've been repairing the car myself and hit something beyond my knowledge, or needed to know a good source for used parts.

So I'd like to echo the other great reviews, and, though I don't know all the circumstances, I have to wonder about the 1 star review posted by Shelley.  Perhaps she has some legitimate gripes, but...

She said she got a code reading at a transmission place (for free), but they couldn't pinpoint the problem.  I'm certainly not an expert mechanic, but it sounds like their free diagnosis was worth every cent, and it was time to start from scratch.

I repair and renovate homes for a living.  If someone told me that another contractor had diagnosed mysterious water damage in the drywall, and she told me she just wanted me to fix it, and didn't want to pay me to find out what was wrong, I would still have to do due diligence and perform my own diagnosis to confirm or question the findings of the other contractor before bidding on the job and doing a repair.  Not doing so would be irresponsible, and would expose me to liability if the original contractor's assessment was incorrect. I assume the same is the case for auto repair shops.

While I'm not an expert on car repairs, I do know that a code reading is often only a starting point.  For example, if the code reader indicates that the transmission fluid is too hot, that might mean the fluid is old, and needs changing, it might mean there's too much fluid, causing pressure to build up, creating excess heat, it might mean there's a bad bearing in the transmission causing excessive friction, it might be a bad sensor or it might be a combination of several factors-- all of this is the work that has to be done by mechanics after the code reader has done it's job!

So although Shelley would like to think we live in a world where a computer code reader has completely replaced the process of hands on trial and error diagnosis, that simply isn't the case.  If she continues with this unrealistic expectation, this won't be the last repair shop she gives one star to.

So excited I have a new mechanic.  Vaco is awesome, he's so nice and honest and he loves the Beatles!  Super happy that I brought my 1983 Mercedes 280 CE to him today because he is definitely my new go to guy! I totally felt at home in his shop and he is instantly trustworthy and friendly.  If you drive a Mercedes this is your place!

When my 1973 Mercedes 450 SE began making a grinding noise, I asked around and was strongly encouraged by a trusted friend to take my car to Vaco.  When I arrived at his shop, Vaco was seated at a piano playing "an original experimental piece in A minor."  I knew already that Vaco was not going to be your typical mechanic.

I described what was wrong with my car and he assured me that whatever was happening, it would not be too expensive to fix.  He called later that day to inform me of my car's problem and told me it would be $250 to fix (which is a fraction of what I expected to pay).  When I picked up my car the next morning, he told me of a number of other issues that I should be aware of, such as my worn-out brake pads, and said that he would be happy replace them OR explain to me how to replace them if I wanted to do it at myself at home.  This guy is not out to squeeze every last dime out of you on Mercedes repair.  He is a genuinely good dude, as well as a fascinating conversationalist (ask him about his old band "The 5 Fingers" or the autographed Traveling Wilburys record on his shop's wall).

I just had my "A " service on my  CLK here, I saved over $ 400.00 because I did not take it to the dealer.
Very friendly people, fast service, & very reasonable rates.

Vaco is great.  I took my car to him to get my air conditioner fix.  He saved me almost $500.  I went to two other mechanics before him and one charged me $150 just to let me know that he can't fix the car and to take it to the dealer.  I took my car to the dealer and they charged me $150 to check my car and $1,900 to fix it.  Just like the other reviewers, I've been to him to get little things fix (i.e.,  lights) and he doesn't charge me for anything.  Usually, I pay $20-25 to get my lights replaced.  I find Vaco to be honest and fair.  I trust him and highly recommend him.

Vaco is the best Mercedes service East of Western.  He is reliable, friendly, personable, serious, and great with dogs and children.  I have a 1984 Mercedes 300TD with 224,000 miles on it.  Recently I had both transmission and vacuum system problems.  Another mechanic said that I would need to replace both of them, total estimate $2600.  I took it to Vaco he said he'd see what he could do -- three days later I had my car back and in great working order with my old transmission and my old vacuum pump, along with new front breaks, a valve adjustment, and an oil change for a total bill of $700.  Vaco had torn apart my transmission, made adjustments (waved his wand?) and had rebuilt two of the valves on the vacuum pump and both worked great.  I will only go to Vaco.

This guy is super nice and fair and very easy to deal with! After I brought my 1998 Mercedes to a dealership I could NOT BELIEVE how much they wanted to do some pretty simple repairs. I took it to Vaco Mercedes at the suggestion of a friend and really wish I had gone to him before. He saved me hundreds of dollars!!
