I love this place. It was the first winery I went to on my first visit to Napa last month, and now it will always be my last. Save the best for last! Not only do they have a nice picnic area for you to have lunch, they also serve sandwiches, salads, and so on. My girlfriends and I love this place, not only because of the tasty wine, but for the awesome service we receive. Luis is the best person to host a wine tasting. He knows the business of wine, hes been in the wine industry since he was a kid, taking after his father. There are so many reasons why I love this place.
1. The great affordable wine tastings, $10 for 6 tastings.
2. Not to mention the affordable selections of wine they have available. My most favorites are Gamay Rouge, Muscat, and Riesling.
3. The picnic area they have available to the patrons.
4. Deli section with the cheese, baguettes, and sandwiches, you also get a chance to taste their spreads. Their artichoke cream cheese spread is amazing!
5. The friendly staff! Always helpful and entertaining. They are really down to earth and not douches at all.
Give this place a try if you're ever in the Napa area! Beware they do get pretty busy. -

When I'm spending a day in Napa, this is usually one of our stops. I enjoy the picnics on the lawn and picturesque setting. Grab some cheese and bread from the deli (and wine, duh!) and enjoy away.
Unfortunately, it's usually really crowded and service at the deli isn't much to speak of. Although bar and sales service are friendly and usually quick. -

If Gamay Rouge could get a review all to itself, this would be a 5. A five, five, five, five, five. That wine is one of the best wines I have ever had. Gamay Rouge may as well be called god's gift to wine. If for no other reason, I recommend visiting this winery and taking a drink.
The winery is pretty, but feels a little like Disneyland for wineries. We were there on a weekday, and it was still slammed; that left me scared to see what would happen on a Saturday. The tasting was reasonable, and we bought a lot of wine... the cheese, bread, and meat selection makes a lunch picnic more than necessary. V Sattui certainly leaves some mystery, some exclusivity, and some privacy to be desired, but set that aside and go drink some Gamay Rouge. -

My absolute favorite winery in Napa. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...
1. Great, affordable wine! I love the Gamay Rouge, Moscato, and Riesling.
2. The deli area with cheese, pate, baguettes, and sandwiches. I highly recommend the truffle pate and the proscuitto sandwich.
3. Friendly staff, NOT pretentious at all!
4. Picnic area.
5. Weekend BBQ selections including ribs, chicken, fish, and oysters.
6. Did I mention the Gamay Rouge?
I do miss the days when tastings were free, or even when they only cost $5. Now it cost $10, but that is still relatively cheap for Napa and I do like that the price seems to have helped reduce the crowds. -

Still my favorite winery. I don't think I've even came wine tasting and hit this place up less than twice in a day. We usually make it our first stop for lunch do some wine tasting and then make it the last stop so we can stock up on their goodies before we head home. It's probably best to come later in the afternoon to avoid the crowd. At lunch time it's really hectic!
Picnic Area:
I recently found out you are not allowed to bring or open wines from other wineries while dining in the patio area. It's against their license, I guess. It's extremely family and pet friendly here. I would be happy to spend my entire day at this winery alone. Just grab a big blanket and have a picnic.
Food:
The deli is a must!! A few of my favorites are the artichoke cream cheese, the basil brie and jalapeno brie. I love brie alone but adding these extra spices are amazing!! I recently noticed they have a mouthwatering dessert case. I didn't even dare go there. I also found some interesting jalapeno sea salt that I bought from here. It's pretty good!! The pesto salad is really good from the freshly made deli. The almond stuffed green olives are delish and so is the chicken pesto panini. However, it's probably best to share the panini, as it's really filling (especially if you are eating other salads and cheeses).
Wine:
I love their Riesling. The dry Riesling is a new vintage and it is perfect for Summer! It's crisp, fresh and lightly sweet. The off-dry Riesling is a little sweeter which I probably wouldn't do. The Gamay Rouge is a new vintage now too. They have added cranberries into the mix. It's MUCH better than it was before. I would still pair it with something spicy (jalapeno brie for instance) to get the full flavor. I love the Carneros chardonnay. It has more of the buttery flavor I like in a chardonnay. Oh and I LOVE their port!

I actively tried to dislike this place. Too touristy. Crowded picnic grounds. Right next to the highway,
And yet, the wine was so so so good. (As were the cheeses). Gf and I split the premium (or whatever it's called) tasting. Yet a few drinks in, the awesome wine-tender started giving us each a tasting, and of wines that were not even on the flight list! The Zins are amazing, and we also loved the Moscoto, which our friend recommended us.
Quite simply, awesome wines and cheeses that more than make up for my initial judgement. -

Demetrius is an AWESOME wine consultant. Thanks again for honoring my mother's wine membership (she's been a platinum member since the 90's)! She was definitely happy to hear I was taken care of!
Janet was also a delight when helping my boyfriend and I select cheeses from the deli! The Truffle Brie was to DIE FOR! We bought two blocks!!
Great for a picnic, it was my first time buying toasted sandwiches from the deli (I usually assemble them myself buying bread, cheese, olives, and deli meats separately).
Bummed that the wine tastings prices have increased (oh well...such is life) from the premium list to $10 (used to be $5) and the reserve list to $15 (used to be $10).
The greatest improvement though is on the classic list...they put the Madeira on it!! Yee!!

Review from Eunice J.
My favorite winery. I discovered this winery about 6 years ago while I was a student at Berkeley, and it's on my stop list every time I'm in Napa for wine tasting. Now that I live in LA, I make it a point to bring back several bottles. Thank goodness for Southwest's 2 free check-ins policy!
My wine tasting experience have been excellent each and every time I've been at V. Sattui. The wine connoisseurs are very friendly and make sure your time there is enjoyable. The tastings are cheap and wine choices vast. My favorite wines of all time all come from V. Sattui, and they are: Gamay Rouge, Moscato, and Off-dry Riesling. Their Cab Sav is also amazing, but I'm more of a pink and white wine kind of girl. Most of their basic wines are very affordable too.
V. Sattui has a self guided tour that I've regretfully never taken advantage of, because their grounds are GORGEOUS. If I were rich, I would want to get married there. They also have a delicious deli counter. If you have the time, I suggest you buy some wine, cheese, and items from the deli and have a picnic out on the grounds. There is a barrel room with tables as well as picnic benches outside so that you can enjoy their wines and foods on the beautiful premises. And while you are in the deli section, make sure you grab some samples. Their cheeses, spreads, and dipping oils are almost as impressive as their wines.
As I've said, I make sure that I bring back with me at least 4 bottles, and it's worth lugging around that heavy box because V. Sattui wines are only available for purchase at their winery and online from their website.
This is a haven for oenophiles, pretend oenophiles, newbies, and foodies alike. Something for everyone. Happy wine tasting! -

Just this past nice & sunny weekend, I bonded with my family and relatives at V. Sattui Winery. I had a wonderful time there...just relaxing and drinking wine, eating cheese, crackers and catching up with each other.
If you're looking for some downtime, I suggest driving over here and leave your worries behind for the next 8-10 hours... -
Review from Esther W.
Let me get the negative out of the way quickly...did not care for their wines at all. We tried several, none of which grabbed our attention. But that's OK, because what this place lacked in wine, it more than made up for in FOOD! Gastro heaven! We did not know where to look first. Deli, cheeses, breads...OMG! We started choosing, and ended up with a picnic that looked more like a five-star Sunday brunch buffet! Our plan worked like a charm! Small servings of many items, so that we can taste as many things as possible. I don't think there was one item that we did not like. Cheeseaholics, beware!
The picnic grounds here are beautiful. We were lucky to come during the week, when it is not a madhouse. Everyone was very friendly and social, and it was like one big meet n' greet. Hint: use this as an opportunity to find out about great places to visit. No matter how much surfing the net you do, it can never compare to hearing first hand about a place that someone is excited about! For our next trip, we will absolutely make this part of our plan, and choose mid week again. -

Great winery for a picnic but get there early it gets crowded even on a Monday. There wines are great definitely do the tasting, buy a bottle of their wine, then go to their deli where you can buy cheese, cured, meats, spreads, they have so much. Then go out and have a picnic. Can't wait to go back!

The 2012 Annual Lobster Fest at V. Sattui Winery was amazing! They poured many of their fan favorites, including Gamay Rouge, Zinfandel and Sattui Family Red. The food was so delicious: lobster, shrimp, artichoke, cob corn, potatoes and garlic. This is my absolute favorite winery and the BEST lobster Fest you'll ever attend! I'll be here again next year!

What an amazing place to have a picnic lunch amongst friends. I have been here often for the ambience, but still take in the vino each time.
I currently have a nice bottle of Madeira open at home from here. They continuously make great dessert wines.
They have a great little deli inside as well that rivals the Dean & Deluca across the way. If you hit the timing right, they also have some bar-b-que cooking up outside as well.
Overall this is a great venue that serves up good wine and offers phenomenal grounds for one of the better picnics in Napa Valley.
You can only get their wine from the winery or online, which kind of makes for a good reason to come often :)Listed in: There's a fly in my…

V. Sattui found my 2 biggest weaknesses: Moscato and Cheese. Cheese addiction is real people! I like to consider myself a wine-aholic suffering from moscato-alism if I had to diagnose myself. Sounds. Classier.
For Picnic:
1 wine tasting of 6 wines (3 sweet wines): $10
1 bottle of Moscato: $27
Small wedge of Triple cream brie and brillat savarin France cheese with papaya topping : $10
For Home:
1 bottle of Gamay Rouge a hint of strawberry: $20
Half a wheel of sweet brillat savarin France cheese with papaya topping: $17
A good time in Napa: Priceless
This was the atmosphere that fit our feel. Came on a day where there was BBQ outside. Looked mouthwatering, but we wandered inside to check out what we came for. Free samples of cheese. YES! Delicious. 2nds for mozzarella! Boys bought cheese and bread and the girls went to share a wine tasting. BIG SHOUTOUT to our wine-ista Don. He gave us top service with his choice in tastings and his speed & humor. He even gave us a taste off the list (moscato!) because he knew what we would love. Paid off since we fell in love with the moscato that had a little bit of bubbly in it. Not too much! It was a perfect amount. The dry-riesling was a good and the Angelina was strong, but sweet. Like a sweet syrupy whisky.
I will be coming back with bread in a bag (I didn't really like the bread here) and some snacks. It seemed like a lot of people were bringing outside picnic food. I want to go look at the cellar next time and maybe indulge my sweet addiction. The to go place in Napa for good cheese, wine, and a picnic with friends in the sun! -

I'm not very thrilled with V. Sattui these days. I became a member 3 months ago.
1. They never gave me a membership card nor a temporary one.
2. They charge me for my first month of wine but I never received it. 2 weeks later I call them and they said they will send it that day...they weren't sure why I haven't received it yet. The package was never sent cause they couldn't even give me a tracking number when I asked. Another 2 weeks, still no wine. I told them to change my address since I was going to be moving the next month. The girl confirmed my address thanked me for all my troubles so I thought we were all good again.
3. The 2nd month comes and I get an email that the wine is on it's way. GREAT!! Clicked the link with the tracking number and it's being shipped to my old address!!!!
4. Was there yesterday for my honeymoon. The guys downstairs asked if I was a member since I was in the downstairs cellar. I said I was and told him I never got a card. Jokingly, he asked other patrons if he should trust me and continued giving me crap that I wasn't a member. Stop that kind of unprofessional shit, go check your records, and treat me like any other patron. RESPECTFULLY POUR! Since I was there, I asked him if I can get my 2 bottles and not have it shipped out. He said he couldn't do it cause it's been processed. And then I asked him to check my address....STILL HASN'T BEEN CHANGED!!! I also understand if you're trying to "close" new members that our down there with other people but when it was just my fiance and I...all you can hear is him texting on his iphone while we waited for more pours.
5. I see him offering temporary cards to other patrons that signed up. He was the same guy that signed me up...no card offered. He's a manager too by the way. So I'm pretty sure he knows the routine.
6. He offers all other patrons that buy on the spot cold bottle. I got a warm bottle of Riesling and had to go upstairs and ask another pourer to trade me bottles.
7. I go upstairs and talk to another pourer. I tell him it's my honeymoon and we wanted to see if we can get our monthly bottles so we can go picnic outside. He thinks it's weird that the manager downstairs won't give me the bottles cause clearly he had it in stock. He called the members tasting room and then tells me it's already out for delivery I should get it today. They haven't charged my credit card and I haven't gotten an email so obviously it isn't on it's way!
Perhaps it's better to NOT be a member cause the customer upstairs was SUPERB!!! That's really sad to say huh? I'm waiting for a month where I don't have problems with being a monthly members. WAITING...1 Previous Review: Show all »

This was our second stop to Napa and it was a nice place but extremely busy. Since the weather is nicer they have started doing bbq outside from 11:30-3:30. You can grab a seat on the benches and tables provided or if you have a blanket spread it out on the grass and enjoy. There is also a deli inside, a section for the cheese lovers along with a decent selection of yummy desserts.
Further in you'll find where all the wine tasting happens. The first guy who greeted us and got us started was pleasant but it seemed a bit rushed, its entirely too busy and you don't get too much personal attention. The first guy who started off actually decided he didn't want to help us anymore so he passed off us to Paul which was rude. Due to the great reviews and a staple in Napa perhaps they don't care as much for those who give them good business. Well when the rude guy left we were left with Paul who was awesome, energetic, personable and we stayed longer than anticipated since he was so pleasant to talk to and nice to be around. Paul you saved the day and this review. Paul was also very knowledgeable about the wines and recommended great wines for us.
Breakdown:
$10 for 6 wine tasting
-2 pages of wines too choose from
-staff is a little busy to spend enough time with you unless you get Paul or someone who isn't there just to pour.
- nice area outside to relax under the trees, have a mini picnic
- busy since the weather is starting to look better these days
- if you have kids, the outside area is great for them to run around -

Awesome wine. Great tasting experience. If you don't know what you're doing, look for Tracy. She will walk you through the whole intoxication process...
My favorite was the 35th anniversary Zinfandel. At under $30 a bottle, it's a steal...
Shout out to the single guys out there: the moscato will most definitely get you laid. -

This is a great place to have a picnic. If the weather permits, the BBQ is in effect. Order something there, grab a bottle of wine, cheese & bread and then find a spot to enjoy your afternoon. If there is rain, the cellar will be set up for dining. This place gets busy, even in the rain, so head out early to secure a good spot. I always find myself coming back to V. Sattui and never had a guest who did not enjoy this place immensely.
Check out V. Sattui's website for a 2 for 1 tasting deal. -

Walked in. 45 minutes later, walked out.... 2 cases heavier!
Sattui was our first stop in Napa and I honestly would have been fine going to just this one place. There was a large selection of wines that I think has something for everyone.. I definitely found A LOT to my likings, especially the oh-so-famous sparkling moscato! Loved it so much, went home out with at least six bottles of it to devour. The Madeira was also extremely delicious. It was different since this wine has brandy mixed into it and the brandy definitely changes up flavor in a fantastic way. The Angelica is worth the trip itself. The name says it all. I'm not even going to tell you.. Just try it for yourself!
The guy that hosted us for the tasting didn't pay us much attention and was busy catering to the older customers... Oh, but that was until the end of our wine tasting when he saw the amount of bottles that we were buying that his attitude changed a complete 180. Like day and night! Nay for that.. Otherwise, a great winery to visit! I'll always be sure to make a stop from now on. :) -

Pros:
- Beautiful winery complex
- Lots of wines to taste
- Extensive selection of amazing cheeses with regular tastings of everything from brie to truffle liver pates.
- Souvenir shop with cards, magnets, books, etc.
- Lovely gardens
- Across the street from Dean & Deluca
Cons:
- Extremely busy in the summer
- On my second to last visit they were selling hot dogs. Kind of tacky to be honest. But oh well, not exactly a deal breaker haha. -

Get the Napa Valley app on your phone! There's a 2 for 1 tasting deal when you show them the offer, so if you have 2 people, it's like $10 for 12 tastings. Gabe was the guy who helped us...and he was very knowledgeable and nice. I got 2-3 extra samplings of my favorite wine (Moscato) from the tasting, plus the Late Harvest White Riesling. I couldn't help but ordered one bottle of that pricey wine with my case order. It was so good!
Afterwards, we sampled the cheeses in the deli section, and I bought a piece of the Gres Champenois. That cheese from France is so smooth, creamy and soft! I hope I could find some more of the similar cheeses when I go back to NJ...
Can't wait to have me some Cheese, crackers, and wine! -

La Habra, CA
Initially when I looked at their ratings on Yelp I didn't want to come to this winery on my tour of Napa just because the noise level was supposed to be loud. During this trip to Norcal the objective was to lay low and not go balls to walls as I've been doing too much of that in So Cal.
After finishing up our first winery stop we passed by this place and decided to just screw it and take a peak.
I have to say this place is one of the more lively wineries in Napa, but also beautiful to observe. The picnic areas are right out in front next to the store/sampling room, where people can buy something to eat at the deli/cheese section or taste/buy wines. Sattui has a more interesting exhibit compared to the other wineries I've been to, maybe not as 'elegant' as some may come off, but definitely has a lot character.
The sampling area was pretty crowded and it might be a little cumbersome to squeeze & wiggle your way to the bar, but once you do get ready to have some fun. We were helped by Tracy who was awesome and made our wine tasting experience one of the best I've had. My friend and I chose to share the 6 wine tasting for $20, but overall we got to try way more than 6 different wines. Tracy was immediately able to pick up on my palette and introduced me to a few wines I really liked. I ended up taking 2 wines home, I would have bought more if my luggage was able to fit them.
Thankfully to Jetblue, I'll be returning to SF very soon and am already planning my return to V. Sattui, hopefully I get to have Tracy for my wine tasting again. Next time though my friend and I are going to for sure stay longer to have a picnic there with a bottle of wine... I also plan on purchasing their mousse truffee I sampled because it was deeeeeeelicious!!! -

Definitely one of my favorite places to go in Napa Valley. No Napa trip is complete without visiting V. Sattui for a little picnic. I love Cheese and they have a huge selection to pick from. Their deli selection is quite impressive and the price is amazing as well. Great place for a fun picnic with the kids. Amazing.

AMAZING!
If you're looking for tasty wines, DELICIOUS foods, a beautiful venue, and great service, then this is the place for you.
This is seriously one of the only wineries I visit because it has both the wines and food that I love. And I don't mean the food that they cook at their BBQ grill, or their deli...their selection of prosciutto, fresh mozzarella and a large variety of cheeses(which I always happen to receive still warm), fudge, freshly baked breads, and dips and mustards are what this place is all about.
Bring a blanket to picnic out on their lawn.
You'll spend some money, that's for sure, but this will be a lunch experience you'll never forget.
Also, wine tastings are EXTREMELY affordable, at $5 for their classic or $10 for their premiums, and you can either choose to taste all the sweets, or whatever you like. My favorites are the Moscato, Gamay Rouge, and their Madeira.
Can't wait till I can visit this place again! -

By far my favourite winery in Napa!
How do i start? Awesome cheese selection!!! :) i love cheese! the smell of it, the texture! i love cheese so much... LOL ( austin powers inspired joke!!), got double cream gouda! ohh creaminess heaven!
Next the deli! wow i really enjoyed eating the fresh mozarella, tomatoes and basil panini! yum yum ( you have to take a number and wait to order, but its worth it!) there are picnic sets for sale that include all you need for 2 people plates, napkins, fork, glass i think the set is bout one dll.
Dessert: it was a double chocolate mini cake! awwww so rich and perfect!
Completely stuffed by all this goodies time to talk bout the wine!! did we even have wine here??? jk of course we did! :) we had a bottle of cold riesling, good prices, great selection! All these by enjoying the pretty garden views and warm weather.
So it was a beautiful wine-picnic! so nice indeed that we came back the next day and repeat!! :) -

While visiting Castello di Amorossa, we were given 2 for 1 tasting passes to their sister winery, V. Sattui. We decided to go there instead of the last winery on our itinerary, and we had an amazing time, in large part to our wonderful wine consultant, Jordan Rusin (took his card!).
Although the winery wasn't my usual fav (I prefer the nice long tours of historic buildings, etc) I will be back just for the service alone. I've yet to have that much fun with the consultant. He didn't just pour our tastes and cater to other guests, he was able to multi-task between our group and a few besides us (and it was VERY busy that day).
I hope the winery knows what a wonderful employee he is... customer service like that will make sure I visit this winery again! Thank you again, Jordan! -

This place is always packed! They have a large wine tasting area, a huge lawn with picnic tables, and a giant wine selection. Add to that the friendly service and you can't go wrong stopping at Sattui. This is a great place to try if you want to taste a wide variety of wines and get some input about what to check out next.
The tastings are very affordable, especially with a coupon. Our server (a niece or grand-niece or something of Sattui) even gave us a bonus sixth wine to compare to one that we had tried earlier. I especially enjoyed the early harvest riesling here and I normally don't go for whites. This place is a bit on the touristy side, but it's a lot of fun. -

This is my favorite place to visit when we drive through Napa, not only can you only buy their wines on site and nowhere else but they have an incredible property to explore and a selection of cheeses to make the drive worth while. They have friendly staff and obviously enjoy what they do because they always make you feel welcome. If you plan to picnic here, keep in mind that they do not allow you to bring in coolers or your own food, that is why i recommend buying a cold bottle of their wine and heading down the road to Louis Martini and enjoy their tables with your own personal cooler to have a picnic.

Our 1st stop of the day, awesome service and love their divine selection of cheese! :D They also had a great deli selection of paninos, meats, pastas, and olives. Make sure you grab a ticket first before being called to order, we are newbie wine lovers and enjoyed the scenery of their outdoor picnic area provided for guests.
Awesome place to stop by, our day was full of sunshine, fresh air, warm breeze and a tummy full of yummies! -

Updated to my last visit on May-2012, the winery is not was used to be, now is overcrowded so that you need to squeeze to get a spot to do the wine tasting, and this time is a wine choosing by yourself with no talk, explanation of each wine, they dont have now time to do this service. And the wines, looks are getting not anymore good.

The food experience was better then the wine tasting. Nothing wrong with the wine, but this place has some great food. Its pretty popular so there are a lot of people there. There is plenty of parking as well.
This place is large. There was whole cheese shop inside, the big wine room, breads, etc. And outside they were making get this; Jalapeño Kebabs, grilled bruschetta with fresh cheese, chicken, etc.
Go in sample some wine, tour the cellars, and some of the educational stuff they have which is pretty fun. Then get a bottle, some food and sit down outside on one of the many picnic tables, or find a spot on the grass and kick back.
Really enjoyed the food and the time here, the wine as decent too. -

This place has a lovely outdoor area to have a nice picnic or just sit in the sun. This vinery is always busy and exclusively sell their wine only on location. I fell in love with many of their anniversary wines, and the cabs are excellent according to my friend. Wine tasting cost $10-15, and it is worth it if you are serious about wine.

Everytime I come here it's always busy, and a challenge when you come with 15 family members waiting for a picnic table. We eventually got one. I love their food and cheese selections. It's been three years since I last visited Napa but I always have the same thing while picnicing: Gamay Rouge, artichoke cream cheese dip, and bread or La Panzanella crackers. Being a club member my tasting was free; usually it's $10 for six tastings. I brought home a bottle of Gamay Rouge and the Moscato frizzante. Our pourer Gabriel was really nice and engaging.

This place has a very large tasting room that is adjacent to a deli. The deli had cheeses, cured meats, oils, fresh breads, and best of all free samples!
We didn't taste here because we were behind schedule, but we did check it out. The grounds are nice, with areas to eat and lots of places for nice pictures. -

This place was amazing as ever! Great place to come with friends, family, and especially a great place to come take pictures. We came on a day they were serving BBQ. We ordered the tri-tip sandwich with a side ordered of bacon filled potatoe salad. The sandwich was eh; could've been better but the potatoe salad was daaa bomb. Da bomb, I say; da bomb.
Also, before you leave, make sure you pick up a container of their artichoke cream cheese. It is amazingly heavenly. Really pricey for the small container and I'm sure you can get it somewhere else cheaper but it taste really good.
There's no admission fee (if anyone is wondering) but you do have to pay for the tours, wine tasting, etc. Make sure you arrive super early b/c parking is really hard to get around lunch time. -

I had been here before with my parents as a kid, and could never fully understand why this winery had so many people. Being legal now, I see that it has a great atmosphere! I loved how friendly the staff was. The wines are a little expensive, but worth it.
This is the only winery in Napa county that has a deli so be sure to buy sandwiches/bread/cheese to eat with your wine at the picnic tables! :)
