OH BETTY!!!

Halloween can be just plain scary, but not at Bettys Blue Star. From the time I arrived to the time I left I felt very taken care of my the staff at Betty's and our fabulous party planner Jessie B and the other princesses. Everyone from the pixy sticks and the condoms helped make my night!

Thanks Betty Blue!

In the words of the very wise Cher Horowitz, "You're a total Betty!!!"... and that you most certainly are, Betty's. What a fabulously fun and costumeriffic time you provided for the amazing UYE Halloweener festivities!!

I may not be a pioneer having this be my first visit at Betty's Blue Star, but I certainly brought something I'm sure they've never had in their bar before (shankers, troublemakers and scalawags aside)... a 5ft long mermaid tail. I may not be a blazing trendsetter, but hey, I'm original!

The Betty's space was pretty damn perfect for strutting around that scaly tail, dancing with the girls, drinking with the boys and admiring all of the other creative and imaginative costumes. Loved it! We were hosted most graciously with zero cover (hallelujah!), two free drink tickets for all Yelpers (hello, Jack Daniels...), our own security staff and some pretty fine bartenders. Truly, can that sweet setup be beat anywhere on Halloween? Ahem, no.

The space is pretty dark and broody which I absolutely love... could totally see myself here on any given night hiding out in a booth with a handful of my fav peeps, sipping on a High Life and surveying the sexy masses. A spacious back beer garden area for smokers, outdoor revelers and bags enthusiasts alike round out the ideal trifecta in bar necessity; cold beer, hot crowd, fresh air... now that's one hot Betty, indeed!

With glass in my hair,
And a spandex mini,
I rolled in with police 'n paprazzi,
Lady Gaga, Pebbles/BamBam
Perez and some twinnies.

Free drink tix?
Nice, we'll cheers to that.
Ah, ha...Sobriety quickly goes "splat."
Who knew 4 Miller Lites would take me so far...
Well, guess we can blame (slash) thank...
Betty's Blue Star.

Ahem, let's see....
All hail, Princess Jessie B!
Genius of the Yelp UYE Halloween party.

(thanks JB!)

It was fun.  Thanks Jessie and crew.  Thanks Betty's Blue Star Lounge for hooking us up with a free cover and two free drink tickets (although I heard a rumor that this is part of your standard event planning procedure...but kudos anyway.)

By the by, your DJ still sucked that night and he (and his friend?  Bouncer?  Groupie?) acted like a major douche.  Bad customer service and bad DJ skills.

This was the perfect place to kickoff an Absolutely Fabulous halloween dahlings!

Upon entry, Eddie and I were handed two tickets for free cocktails. Champers for Eddie and Stoli for me dahling. The music was smashing - wonderful for dancing luvs. The line for the loo was never too long. The patio was the perfect space for lighting up a fag to go with the drinks. Thankfully, the barmaids were quick with the cocktails and the music set the most wonderful mood for us revelers.

SMASHING DAHLINGS!

Nice work, Jessie B!

We all had a great time at the Halloween party.  The two free drinks rocked, the bartenders were super-nice (I didn't have to wait for a drink all night!), and the company was excellent.

I loved that everyone got all decked out for the occasion (they took your threats seriously on the "no costume, no entry" policy, Jessie!) and came ready for a good time.

A special thanks for throwing this shindig at a bar close to my home.  :)

Going to Betty's this Halloween was my second trip. I've somehow managed to live in Chicago for 8 years now and only two trips to Betty's. It is almost criminal that I've only been that many times.

The staff at Betty's was awesome. They are no nonsense and funny which is what this place is all about. I love dives and this place is one of the best dives in Chicago. I'm not much of a late late night person which is what Betty's is more about and why I've only been once before. But I am definitely going to try to come back again when it is earlier. This place is a lot of fun and the kind of place you never quite know what you are going to see when you come.

Also, I would never in a million years think of Betty's as a good place to plan a party for a large group at but they did a really great job. Easy check in at the door, two free drink tickets, let us control the playlist of music, had coat check, never had to wait long for a drink, and the staff was really nice. Loved it! If you have an event, Betty's is actually a really good place to do it at!

Betty's hosted our UYE Halloween Party and really treated us right. No cover charge, no hassles entering the club, two free drink tix with no restrictions, and they let us play our dance mix for a few hours (Bailey did an awesome job).

The Fifth Element and Playboy Girl were friendly and gave good service on a busy night. I had a great time even after the Yelp crew filed out for Bluer pastures!

Halloween aside, I've been to Betty's before. Ten years ago I used to live in the up and coming Ukranian Village and I went to Betty's a few times back in the day. I remember it getting a bit janky back then, and it certainly does cater to a clientele on a budget. But if you're looking for a place to get your groove on and don't want to pay a $20 cover to have some coked up douche dancing up behind you, Betty's is your place!

I had a blast at this event. Or should I say I got blasted. Let's go with both.
Betty's did a pretty good job in dealing with all of the Drunk Yelpers. It was great to see all of the hard work that everybody put into their costumes. Some of them blew me away. The Pot Brownies were my favorites, along with Kellie K's swine flu outfit.
It has been at least 6 years since my last visit to Betty's, and it looks like they really cleaned up the place. My foggy recollection of Betty's was a seedy 4 a.m. joint. It looks like they have done a lot  to change that image.
A big Thank You goes out to Bailey and everyone else who put this epic bash together. It looked like a good time was had by all.
