Had A Great Time!
It was great to meet everyone. I had fun talking to all of you not to mention the food was great as always. Can't wait for the next one guys this time I'm getting there early so I can sit at the "COOL KIDS" table! LOL
So glad I made it to the Angry Dog UYE, because burgers + beer + badass Yelpers = winning combination (huzzah for alliteration!)
-Parking next door is convenient but is a pay lot (obvs), though a little bird told me there is free street parking somewhere nearby...
-Ample selection of beer, bottled and on tap, and waiters who'll twist your arm ever so slightly so you'll drink more than you planned.
-Tasty chips and queso to start any meal off right, done and done.
-Freaking amazing cheeseburger, with grilled onions and shredded cheddar ftw. NOTE: Avoid ordering medium rare, because unlike other burger joints, they won't err on the side of overcooking everything and will actually give it you...well, medium rare. Still, meat party will commence if you try their burger, it's so worth it.
-Thick cut fries are pretty standard and tasty, but the seasoning provided at the table gives them a little somethin' extra.
I'm totally going back for another burger, though the next one will spend a little more time on the grill. Pretty sure they're gonna earn that last star no problem. Angry Dog, you make me happy.
Thank you Kristie for organizing an awesome UYE...and for getting us reservations, because it was packed! I had no idea this place got so busy for weekend lunch. I feel lucky just for grabbing a rockstar parking meter...they must have known I was coming.
From the bartender to our server, the service was spot on. He was friendly, funny, got all orders *exactly* correct (which was impressive for a group of 11 hawngry yelpers) and knew just when to refill our drinks.
As for the food, I was honestly expecting a little bit better than what I got. I ordered queso and chips for the table, and although the meltey cheese had a different kind of flavor, it was a tad runny.
I had the chicken sandwich for my entree...I reeeeeeeally wanted a burger, but I decided against my inner evil grease lover and went with a healthier option. I immediately regretted my decision when I saw the other yelpers' burgers hit the table. My chicken breast was smaller than expected and didn't pop with marinated flavor. Dayum. Next time.
But I got to meet some great new faces...awesome to finally see you in person, Scott and Gabrielle!

Not wild about the $5 weekend parking, but a spoiled schmo like me who's also a resident of a NORTH Dallas suburb shouldn't complain about downtown's lack of Costco sized parking lots. Or is that how they keep us out .....
I started off with a chicken quesadilla. It came up crisped on the outside and slighty dripping - which may be a sign that this is not the dry shriveled white meat that headlines every grilled chicken salad I've seen for I dunno how long. A little guac and sour cream to round it out, cool. Then came the burger. Juicy medium that wasnt a grease bag, in fact the only reason the bun fell apart was because I decided to enjoy my guacamole mushroom jalapeno burger with everything ON at once - my fault.
Service without a hitch too. DO NOT GO TO TWISTED ROOT - get an Angry Burger.
Things that I like
-Angry Dog burgers. Best in town, no doubt about it. Plus they are excellent hangover cures.
-Drinks in the afternoon. These are excellent hangover cures as well.
-Friends that coerce me into doing a shot in the afternoon.
-Friendly waiters.
-Festive yelpers!!! We hung out and talked and laughed for 2 or 3 hours. Great Saturday afternoon!
So basically this UYE was the bomb.
I can never say enough good things about Angry Dog, so I'm happy that everyone made it out for lunch. I forgot how busy the lunch rush is, so I'm sorry for those that didn't get to sit together.
Howard has to be one of the best waiters around. I lurv him! He's always tempting me with shots, and I always fall victim to them. Teehee. Thanks for indulging too Nickie G!
