I loved the ambiance of the Uva with it's dim lighting and live jazz music.  They also have a no corkage fee for your first bottle of wine.  They have a wide variety of entrees and pastas and pizzas to choose from.

The pasta dishes were great but the porkchop was a little dry.  The great thing is they accept reservations for large parties!

I was here on a Thursday night with coworkers.  We called the day of and asked for a reservation for 25 people.  They were kind enough to squeeze us in.  We were very much looking forward to the live music and something different to eat.  We got there and our table was available immediately.  Love the décor, the old black and white photo of athletes, singers, dancers, actors, you name it.  Although they advertise themselves as an Italian restaurant, I really got a sense and mood of an New American restaurant with old time flavor here.

The waiter took our drink orders quickly and was very patient with our large party. I was very hungry and asked for the bread to come out, unhappy that I could see the delicious bread at other tables across the room and not ours.  After 10 minutes or so of waiting, a second person at our table asked for the bread again and it arrived a few minutes thereafter.

I tried the spinach salad as an appetizer and it was delicious.  It had almonds, goat cheese, pear, bacon and a dash of sherry vinaigrette.  Someone next to me ordered the calamari which I sampled.  It was decent, nothing to write home about.  I feel like the calamari could have used a bit more spice or kick to it.  I ordered the pizza special of the day (fruit de mare) but somewhat regretted the order after tasting how salty it was.  I was looking around me to see all the delicious orders of pasta and really wished I had ordered something else.

Cool bar area with TVs for viewing sports.  Ladies bathrooms are clean and I like that they support local organic and sustainably produced vegetables, meat and fish.
The ambiance and music at this establishment is a plus and definitely give this place character.  I would try it again just to give it another shot.

    2stars = meh I've had better.... This describes UVA, but I think it's a good 3* restaurant.

    1.  We had reservations at 9.  Upon arrival at 9:05, they said itd be 15-20 minutes for our table and to wait at the bar.  That was unclassy.

    2.  The food was only ok.  Pizza wasn't great.  Salad was good though.  Not the quality food you expect when dining out in napa.

    3. They were very quick with the bread.  And good with refills

    4.  a plus for live music, but it does make it loud and harder to converse, but I liked it's addition to ambiance.

    5.  The place seemed crowded, as in there were too many tables for the space

I want to be slathered in your Carmel ice cream!

To be honest, I don't really care about their food...fast forward to when I took it upon myself to order desert, because the work sanctioned desert was Tiramisu and I do not like that...so I ordered their Carmel ice cream! It's been a week since I've had it, but I can vividly remember the decadent, smooth texture with it's delicious, yet not overly sweet Carmel flavoring...

It's always hard to please a group of 60 people, especially when there is budgetary limitations. So, that being said, our office dinner was aite. They made sure to have variety, yet I thought something was lacking...I can't quite put my finger on it, but it was something...

    The Options:

    1.       Bread

    2.       Cesar Salad

    3.       Garden Salad w/ Balsamic Vinaigrette

    4.       Cheese Pizza

    5.       Potatoes, peas, and cauliflower

    6.       Salmon

    7.       Chicken

    8.       Tiramisu

The Cesar was average, tasty and fattening - just how I like it. I didn't try the garden salad, I was distracted by its more fattening cousin the Cesar. The cheese pizza was tasty, thin crust, slightly over saturated with red sauce, good cheese flavors. The bread was okay, they kind of skimped on the serving amounts. The salmon was delightful, but you had to make sure you drizzled their sauce on your portion or else you were going to be stuck with dry salmon. But it was good. The chicken was okay...very dry, no sauce to drizzle on top. I enjoyed the potatoes, sue me, I need something starchy when I'm eating.

The service was sloppy. They bashed a coworker in the head with a plate. I'm not even sure they said sorry. They were taking plates away faster than we could eat. They were prompt with their food delivery. Once most of the group arrived, food started pouring out. None of the servers actually interacted with us. The bus boys/men were on point with filling the water.

Chris the bartender wasn't ready for our group. I think we drank him out of Jameson. He service wasn't stellar either, especially given two factors - the bar wasn't that crackin' and he was only pouring shots - no mixed drinks. If he knew better he would have serviced us better, because there was probably over 10 rounds of 8+ shots deep every time.

I did enjoy their live music. It was cute to see older couples dancing and enjoying their week day evening. There were even a few we could all sing along too.

Your average delights were overcome by our shot taking, but you were a good place to house 60 people who won't complain about free food...

We love Uva.  Get the meatball appetizer; they are incredible, yummy sauce, fresh tomatoes baked in and topped with melted cheese (and better than your Italian grandmothers) 9 times out of 10 I get the seafood pasta, it has house made pasta with squid ink pasta mixed in that adds such a delicate taste and fresh shellfish.  The menu always has something new on it, desserts are fabulous, a full bar, great selection of wines and the staff is always incredible and attentive.  No matter how busy they are Aaron gets us a table, and he's done a fabulous job with this restaurant and a great improvement over the former owners.  Love the nightly music and an occasional trip to the dance floor with the hubby.  We've dined here countless times and each time I see a picture on the wall I hadn't noticed before.  We have nothing but good things to say about Aaron and Uva.

I went to Uva Trattoria on a Tuesday night this past week while taking a two day vacation in Napa. After some Yelp researching I chose Uva, and I do not regret it. I had the veal special and my boyfriend the mahi mahi, who liked it alright.

The decor was very cool, and it reminded me of some great San Francisco/Northern California treasures (like Beach Blanket Babylon). We shared gelato for dessert and overall had a very pleasant meal.

Are you yelpers on drugs?  This place is brutal, the only way you could consider the food here good is if you've only ever eaten at bad Olive Gardens.  Even the bread was bad!  We were first seated next to the waiter station, even though half the restaurant was empty.  The food that came out was cold and needed to be reheated and the pasta sauce was incredibly watery.

The only thing this place has going for it is live music.

After a long day of wine-tasting, it was nice to sit down to some Italian cuisine. The live jazz music was nice, but only lasted for 30 minutes. Maybe we came on the wrong day, but what's up with that?? The dishes that were ordered: Seafood Pasta, Linguine alle Vongole, Calabrese Pizza and Vegetariana Pizza. We also ordered the garlic bread, which I LOVED. Everything was tasty and everyone finished their plates (except for the one's that ordered pizzas). The flavoring of the clams in my linguine was awesome. The ambiance was your typical Italian restaurant with walls covered with pictures and mirrors. All in all, it was a great way to end the day.

We chose this place after tasting around Napa all day and I would say it was ok. I wanted a mid range italian meal and that is certainly what I got, the food was tasty, my bolognese was actually quite delicious. One of the employees at a tasting room had warned us against the pizza, which was fine by us.

The strange part was that I dont understand the correlation between the food, the decor and the music. The walls were covered in a mixture of art and sports memorabilia but without a clear theme and the music switched between 90's pop, country and classic jazz...WHAT?  so confused.

Our server was very nice and the meal was exactly what we wanted but the atmosphere was so weird I think I would try somewhere else next time.

Wow, yelp reviewers, you really led me astray here. Four stars with almost 300 reviews? I expect a really good meal. That's not what I got here.

First, the details: ordered risotto balls and calamari as an appetizer. The food came out in maybe 45 seconds.  Seriously. They then immediately tried to get us to order entrees, but it's not like they were super-busy. Anyways, after eating the two appetizers and some bread, we decided to split a pizza (instead of our original two entree plan.)

The verdict: the food at Uva is not as good as it is at the Olive Garden. Dead serious. And the atmosphere (at least where I was sitting) was pretty cold and decidedly not what I'd look for in a date spot.

How this place got four stars is beyond me.

We had a party of 6 people, for a Saturday night reservation at Uva Trattoria and we had a great time, everyone in our party raved about their entrees ranging from seafood pasta to the rib eye, to the shrimp & goat cheese pizza and so on and so on.

The service was spot on and really on point with bringing refills.

There was a jazz band playing, and the live music was really fun and lively, but not so loud that you couldnt carry on a conversation at the table.

We will definitely be returning to Uva Trattoria next time we are in Napa.

Making my annual trip with Pal to downtown Napa for the Capitol Steps political show to laugh about John Boehner"s orange complexion or Nancy Pelosi's over botoxed face we usually try to find a nice meal. This time we pick this place and it was quite good.

Entering, the hostess first tried to sit us in this table right near her stand and as usual my biggest pet peeve is that when there are so many empty table early in the evening why they try to sit the first customers in the worse spots. It happened once again. Well, we asked for another spot and it was OK. Then again, looking around these really nice rooms, the 2 tops were not in the best spots while the 4 tops were nicely placed. I think it is a flaw they should work on. Anyway, that was one of the few flaws. As the service was very good and the food was just as good. Getting our apps that included the customary squid (very large portion) and also broccoli rabe we knew we were at a good spot. My martini was good too, yet not served in a martini glass but more in some type of thing. I guess in wine country you have wine, I did that too and they know what they are doing here. Anyway, Our mains were very good. Me with a whole chicken and Pal's had the ravioli. Yes, very solid. For dessert the wonderful gelato and espresso. Perfection.

Couple of other interesting points. Jazz in the next room while eating your mela. Very nice but it  is interesting that the rooms have many interesting photos on the wall. It was almost like they asked me what types of things are important to me. Well, many great photos of Sinatra and the real rat pack. Many photo's of the Yankees and old time baseball. Many Hollywood photos of some of the real hall of famers. Yet, my favorite was in the men's room when you leave there is this big picture of Bill Buckner. Viola. Excellent Italian food and my inner brain in harmony.

Uva Trattoria is a standard in downtown Napa. It's got vintage movie posters, pictures of celebrities, they have jazz. The appetizers were great-especially their rice balls. The fresh clam pasta was not so great;it was laborious. Now I realize why I buy CANNED clams for chowder. The tiramisu was excellent.

I'll definitely go again... but I will also go for a less labor-intensive entree.

Great place for a family dinner or for a date night. Uva has great food and a nice atmosphere. Lots of pieces on the wall of local wineries, sites, and my personal favorite, Giants memoribilia and pictures!

The food is very good. My personal favorite are the gnocchi which are very tasty and what I like is that you can get a half order or full order. The pizzas are very tasty and prepared fresh. They are a traditional thin crust. The salads are fresh and the dressings taste house made. They also have a fully stocked bar and a very nice wine list.

On Fridays and Saturdays the bar gets pretty busy at night and they have live music and a small dance floor. it gets a bit crowded sometimes and can be a little loud, but they have two dining rooms, one of which is on the other side of the music.

Thanks to Yelp, I made this reservation from my phone just hours before we ate here while wine tasting all day in Napa.  This place is very close to downtown and to many other bed and breakfasts.

Quite a large venue when you walk inside. It seems like they have a whole room that you can book separately (a large family had taken over this whole part when I was there) and then another dining area, complete bar (with high top tables) and a space for live music and dancing.  A two-person jazz-standard band performed during our dinner with a few couples dancing.  Interestingly enough there were kids and toddlers all around the scene as well.

The service and food itself was okay.  Not the best italian I've ever had but certainly quality food and well paired with local wines in house.  Given the shape of the space it did get pretty loud and it was all too easy to listen to the conversations at the tables next to us while we ate.  The pasta seemed to be the way to go - I got pizza and it was decent, but the pasta dishes that my friends ordered were quite good.

If you're with a big group of people and looking for a fun scene filled with people of all ages, dancing, drinking, eating, watching sports etc. this place seems to have it all.  Might not be the BEST food in Napa, but certainly not bad!

Should have yelped before walking in the door.

Hours posted are diffrent times for day of the week with closing time listed as "until closed" hostess had to ask manager if we could be seated for late dinner.

The first place they seated us was in the bar right next to the jazz stage and infront of the speaker which was cranked all the way up. It was so loud you couldn't hold any sort of conversation with the person next to you. We had to request to be moved. Service here was also lacking which is suprising considering the area.

Won't be recomending this place to family that will soon tour the area.

The food was pretty good but not out of this world. The restaurant itself was bizarrely decorated and I didn't quite understand what the overall vision was meant to be. We ate there on a Saturday night and the place was packed and got loud really quickly. Despite it being busy the service was attentive and we felt taken care of. We chose this place because we were really in the mood for dessert and we were not disappointed with the flour less chocolate cakes we ordered to finish off our meals. I almost wish I had ordered two of them and just had dessert for dinner they were so yummy.

We went there on Friday night for dinner.  We had a large party of 13 all of us were foodies.  I have to say that the food was pretty bad and the portions were very small.  I ordered the Linguine and Clam Sauce.  There was no flavor at all, the clams were overcooked and maybe there was about 1/3 cup of pasta which was a dried pasta not fresh.  No ones food had any flavor at all.  It was as if they had a machine that sucked the flavor out of the food.

I won't even go into the service that we received it was so bad.  If you are looking for Italian food in the Napa area this is not the place to go.  I have no clue why anyone would give this place more than 1 star.  I live in the Napa area and there are so many better restaurants.  I think it just maybe the tourists who may not know what good food is and think that because it is over priced it must be good.

.....they used to have nice wine glasses, too; now they just have the heavy duty non breakable type, which isn't so good when you bring a super nice wine because you want to drink good wine from nice glasses; too many other good places to go in Napa; the waitress and manager became very defensive when we asked why the portions were so small....

Maybe my Napa-ophile friend CG has rubbed off on me, but I have very high expectations for food in Napa Valley.  It is for that reason that Uva may have gotten 4 stars from me if located at home in L.A., but in Napa they get only 3.

We had an early dinner on a Saturday night.  Plenty of street parking and and a dirt lot across the street allowed us to park easily.  When we were leaving a couple hours later, it looked more challenging.

Unremarkable bread with olive oil/balsamic/roasted garlic cloves hit the table immediately.  After we placed our drink and food orders, we noticed the band beginning to set up on the stage near us.

The vibe was definitely lively, with the bar seating area being close to the dining area.  The noise level grew as we were there, and the close proximity of the tables to each other caused servers and bussers to bump into our table and our persons as they maneuvered around.

Our food looked pretty good, and portion sizes were generous:

    Two of us had:
"Bisteca" - Bone-In Angus Ribeye - served with a small amount of roasted halved fingerling potatoes, broccoli florets and parsnip chunks, with a roasted shallot demi-glace.  The ribeye was big and marbled well, with good flavor.  But it was barely warm, and the thin demi-glace was so brothy that it steamed away any crust texture out of the steak and gave it a more boiled feel.

    Bf had the carne special:
Braised Short Ribs - a generous hunk of fatty, saucy short ribs, served over soft, sage-fragrant polenta.  Yum!

    We all shared:
Creme Brulee - the vanilla bean-flecked creamy pudding was topped with a crust that was over-burnt for my palate - and it could have been chilled a bit more.

I was the only one who didn't order wine, so I wasn't disapointed like my dinner mates were.

I think that the service here is a big part of the Napa difference that I was feeling.  While friendly, it felt much more casual and less attentive/detail oriented than what I've experienced elsewhere in the area.

I guess not everyone can live up to the Super Server Dan experience at Ad Hoc, can they CG?

After a whole day of wine tasting, I actually didn't feel that hungry.  That is, till I walked into Uva Trattoria.  I ordered their cowboy ribeye, which came with a roasted shallot demi-glaze that night, medium rare and I excitedly waited for my slab of meat to come.

Let me just say, that was the tastiest steak I've had in a LONG while.  The caramelized shallots were amazing on top of the steak, the potatoes and green beans that accompanied the dish were not needed at all.  How did I know this was one of the tastiest steaks I've had in a while?  Well, the steak was not cooked well.  It was medium well - well on the edges and as I got closer to the center of the steak, it was medium and the only part that was medium rare was the part next to the bone.  I kept on telling my companions that I should return the steak for one that's cooked to the correct temperature that I had asked for but for the life of me, I couldn't put my fork down long enough to tell our server.

So why 4 stars and not 5?  Their exuberant prices for "substitutions".  My friend got their risotto special.  The original dish came with grilled chicken and tarragon sausage but she doesn't normally eat meat so she asked for the dish to be meatless.  The bowl came and the risotto didn't even touch the bottom sides of the bowl.  There was actually empty space on the bottom of the bowl!  Now, I must admit, I tried some of the risotto and it was DE-LI-CIOUS =d  Very garlicky and the risotto was creamy and rich.  That tiny portion cost her $25.  That's $5 less than my giant cowboy ribeye.  That's just crazypants!

The server we had was also being a jerk face but he probably heard my drunken friends yell that every now and then so he comped all our drinks and corkage fee.

Would I want to come back here again?  Absolutely!  Would I actually come back here?  Well, I don't like dining alone and none of my friends would be willing to come back =(  Maybe if I brought new companions...?

DW and I dined for dinner 10/23.  it was Sunday night and they had live jazz from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.  The music was very good.  The food was very good.  the specialty drinks were very good.  our waitress, not so good, thus 3 stars.  Service was slow and it was not busy.  No idea what the problem was.  It took nearly 10 minutes for her to come to the table to acknowledge we were there.  I think we had received bread and our first and second glass of water before the waitress showed.  During the meal  I sat at my table with my half eaten entree waiting 10 minutes for the second cocktail that i ordered.

Again, 3 stars on the strength of the food.  Easy 4 stars if our waitress had been  better.

10/31 - Feedback from others while we were in Napa echoed our experience.  SLOW SERVICE!  Dropping to 2 stars.

Phenom service. Fabulous food. Great wine list.

I made a reservation on Open Table for 6:45 on a Friday evening. We got there a bit early (6:30) and were planning on waiting at the bar until our table was ready. The place was jammin' and they *still* had our table ready 15 min in advance. We were seated promptly and given water and their amazing focaccia with oil and vinegar. I ordered a small salad and small plate of their gorgonzola gnocchi (as opposed to the full-sized). PERFECT portions! My friend had the seafood linguine and loved it. We shared a bottle of wine (a bit pricey for my taste, but it is the Napa Valley) with dinner and the server was always checking out glasses, refilling when necessary. I don't think we touched the bottle ourselves once. A live jazz band came on right when we were finishing dinner; they were great! For dessert we each had an order of profiteroles -- to die for!

If you're looking for a quiet romantic place on a Friday or Saturday evening, I would look elsewhere. For a fun, romantic, jazz-filled restaurant with exceptional service, this is your place!

GREAT BAR, ATMOSPHERE, MUSIC, AND FOOD....WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED.

I have been making it a point to visit Uva whenever I am in Napa.  A local recommended this little gem to my girlfriend and I a couple years back and I love them for it.  Uva's bar is perfect for mingling during Happy Hours.  The restaurant has awesome live music on certain days.  See the following link for their music calendar http://www.uvatrattori....  Uva's food reminds me of my Mom's Italian cooking.  My favorite dish is the Penne con Salsiccia(homemade Italian sausage).  Yum!  Actually just writing this review is making my mouth water.  The servers always have a fun attitude and are very helpful with choosing an entree to suit your palate.  To top it all off, the price you pay for all the above is super reasonable.

Went here for dinner when I was in napa for the weekend. Wait wasnt long bc I had made reservations and the atmosphere was okay. Not THAT nice...but decent. It was clean. I ordered the prosciutto pizza with arugula and it was mediocre. The caesar salad was a bit weird because it wasn't cut, basically just long leaves. It had no flavor very bland. The fettuchini was also bland...just seems like they put a bunch of milk and butter. I probably wont come back here..Yelp fooled me

The service here was laughably bad. Such a shame because the food was actually pretty decent, albeit overpriced. But what do you expect? It's Napa.

We arrived here ten minutes before our reservation when we were informed our table wouldn't be ready for another half an hour.

Wait, what? If this was in my current city of residence (Los Angeles), there would have been a riot. Didn't think to call ahead instead of wasting our time waiting around for a reservation we booked weeks in advance? Absolutely unbelievable.

Offer to comp anything? Of course not. Was the hostess apologetic? No, why would she be? When it comes to the food scene Napa, you're not LA so please stop acting like it. I've been treated a hell of a lot better in restaurants ten times more expensive than this.

If you're in Napa, go to a real restaurant like Bouchon where they're actually trained to treat their customers with respect.

Live music. Stella on draft. Risotto balls, calamari, veggie pizza, homemade pasta w/seafood, calzone that the chef specially made, garlic bread, ceasar salad, bolognese pasta... Huge portions. Everything was yumm-o!

If the prices had been a bit lower or the quality just a bit higher, I would have given 4 stars, but the discrepancy between the two lost them the extra star.

We started dinner with the fried risotto balls - a first for me- and all I can say is YUM!  The seasoning and the marinara sauce with which they were paired were a beautiful marriage of just the right seasonings.  5-star appetizer!

My 5-star dining companion ordered the seafood pasta and it was a solid 4-star meal.  Also a red sauce, but not the same as the marinara they served with the risotto balls, slightly spicy and delicious to dip my bread into!

At $25 a plate, the risotto was overpriced.  I ordered the Grilled chicken and tarragon sausage over spring green garlic & spinach risotto.  The meal included 3/4 cup of bland risotto and one chicken sausage.  At $12-$13 it would have been quite acceptable but at twice the price, it becomes a 2-star dish.

It was my girlfriend's birthday, so Uva treated her to a free tirimisu.  We both found it quite delicious compared with others we've tried.  I ordered bread pudding because I LOVE bread pudding and I disliked their bread pudding enough to leave most of it on the plate.  It was dry.  How on earth do you make a pudding dry?!?

Anyway, overall the place was nice and the service was good.  Though when I tried to make reservations (for 2) at 7:30 they were booked.  So I tried 7pm, 6:30 and finally got a 6pm reservation.  They assured me on the phone they were booked most of the evening.  We arrived at 5:50 and were seated immediately.  Many tables remained empty all evening and I had to marvel that they could not find space for our reservation.

With one glass of wine the tab came to $90 before tip.

The company was awesome and I had a great evening!

We dined here for a couples night out, Uva was one of those napa restaurants we never think of, but we kicked ourselves for forgetting it! Nicole, our server, was professional, helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable on the wine list and the menu. She made us feel at home from the very beginning. The flourless chocolate cake was a highlight of my meal.

BF and I were craving pasta (What's new?).  So we were on a mission to find a decent and relatively close Italian place. We were at the farmers market that is held every Thursday near Oxbow Market.  We found UVA and was stoked because of the high reviews.  We were immediately seated and quickly skimmed through the menu.

We waited and waited for our server to take our order....
    *tick tock*
    She finally comes over...
    For my antipasta I ordered:
    $8 proscuitto con melone
    http://www.yelp.com/bi...
Best dish at UVA.  Sweet and savory, check.

    Main Entrees:
$14 Spicy Pepperoni- tomato and mozzarella
    http://www.yelp.com/bi...
Bf ordered the pizza and it was mediocre.  It tasted better the next day, but we were so buzzed that anything would have tasted marvelous.
$18 Linguine alle Vongole- fresh clams, Calabrian chilies,
toasted garlic & white wine broth.
    http://www.yelp.com/bi...
BUH-LAND.  No flavor.  Just ate some cooked pasta and the clams were not good either.

After about 15 minutes she brings out bread.  UM, THANKS!!

Everything came out sooo slow. Mind you, the restaurant was not busy whatsoever.

She was the SLOW ASSSSSSSSSSS SLOTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

    This place is sooo cute:)

We arrived in Napa around 9pm and realized we were starved!!! This was one of the only restaurants near our hotel that was open till 11pm and they had live music so it was an easy choice.

When we arrived to the restaurant (9:30-ish) the Jazz band was in full swing and it was a lively crowd. We brought our own bottle of wine and there was no corkage (this NEVER happens in SF).

We started with the fried pesto risotto balls (YUM). Great flavor and the perfect amount of spicy marinara sauce. For my entree I had the pan seared veal (delish) and hubby had the seafood pasta (which was LOADED with seafood). Come with an appetite because the portions are HUGE.

The service was good but almost overbearing. Had 4 ppl ask if I wanted a drink refill within a 5 minute span. I finally said yes so we could be left alone.

The food was flavorful but nothing super exciting. It's Italian so I prefer it that way.

The pricing is something else. Quite a bit more than I expected for some basic pasta dishes.  The drink menu can get expensive fast.

Atmosphere is OK and restaurant is clean. Probably won't come back because value for the money is not here.

The food and service was okay! Love the live Jazz...or blues for the night we went! My only complaint was the seating was tight! I felt that the tables were just to close to each other! Otherwise this is a nice place! I'm a big fan of dining establishments with live music!!!
