I'd easily pass by this place in a heartbeat. It's in a strip mall and looks a little tacky from the outside. Boy, were we wrong.
Luckily I have my wonderful yelpers to turn to when looking for new places to eat while on vacay at my dad's place in Naples. :)
The sea bass, ceviche, and tuna were phenomenal! We will be back! -

How could you not love a restaurant named USS Nemo? This fabulous destination has unbelievably amazing seafood, with a pretty, undersea decor to match.
Our calamari was just perfect. It came with some balsamic vinaigrette (I believe?) and cheese on top. You are given three dipping sauce options, and they were all very delicious. The crunchiness of the calamari was exactly what we wanted.
I got the MISO BROILED SALMON as my entree. HOLY ****! The piece of salmon that they give you is pretty big, and it sits on top of several asparagus, which sits on a bed of rice...which is surrounded by some mysterious sauce (very good though)! The salmon pretty much melted in my mouth, it was insane. I have never had salmon like that before. I could eat it everyday.
The service was excellent! Our waiter (forgot his name) was attentive and contributed to our positive dining experience. We were the only people there in our 20s (everyone was in their 40s and up) and usually when that happens, we get poor service (because they assume we won't tip well) but this was not the case here.
Next time I am in the Naples area I will definitely be back here.Listed in: again and again, welcome to miami

broiled sea bass was good.....sweetbreads were cooked perfectly...tender, tasty, delicious!!!
going back for more sweetbreads, YUM!
(although i agree w/ another poster...the sauce (demi glaze balsamic sugar sauce) is too sweet and over-used, too much of it interferes w/ the natural flavor).
BTW - there are way too many 5 star reviews!
I would save 5 stars only for the top of the top. -

Best fish I have ever had. The Sea Bass is the best thing on the menu. You can substitute the bed of rice for mash potatoes, which I highly recommend.

I wasn't so sure of this place when we pulled up, but I'm not familiar with Naples and didn't realize that lots of good restaurants just happen to be in strip malls. We were seated outside, which was a good thing as the temp was perfect and it was a bit stuffy inside. We waited just a few minutes past our reservation time. It's a bit odd as you're sitting in front of the restaurant with the parking lot just a foot away but they do a good job of putting up bushes and stuff to make it feel like you're sitting in a garden.
Service was good, timing was good and in general, everyone was very happy with their food. i ordered the favorite miso seabass and it was excellent and a huge portion. Looked like 2 filets. It was served with rice, which I prefer with fish. For our app, we had the pear salad which was well done and the lobster poutine - i was iffy on this as poutine is so rich and bad for you that I only want to eat it when it's done really well, luckily this one was. Both my husband and his mom got fish and were happy and my father--in-law got steak and it was perfectly done. It sounds like they'll be taking their friends back for another round so overall I'd give this place 4.5 stars. -

Naples, FL
Yes, it has a cute name, yes it is in a strip mall and yes it has undersea inspired decor but go beyond that and you will be immersed in a culinary delight. Such a varied menu - the sea bass, seafood trilogy, lamb chops, sweetbreads, grilled romaine salad... the wine list is well priced and has a great selection. Extensive sake and beer list as well. The staff are friendly, professional and attentive so it is an all around winner... Always excellent and a favorite in Naples.

Davie, FL
Excellent food, and wonderful service. We tried the variety appetizer which was great and we were able to get a bit of some of their greats. Flavors were innovative and everything was fresh. Only missing star is for the apple pie desert, which was just OK. A little pricey, but worth it for the quality of food and service. Make a reservation, they get busy! Will go back when we are in the area again for sure.

Very very FRESH fish. That is single most important starting point for any seafood restaurant. They prepare the fish in solid ways that are very tasty and do not overpower the fish. Everything, from appetizers to desserts, was very good. Everyone enjoyed all of their dishes. Service is fine; Blah decor does not match the pricey menu. It is a solid 4* - should not be anywhere near 5*.

Do not let the strip mall location deter you from a visit to this place. Once you enter the door you will soon see the inside is no match for the outside location in a good way. It is a wonderfully nice place and one of the first surprises is the size of the menu. The website does not seem to do well at all in covering all of the offerings and in fact that is the only reason why this review is missing that fifth star. Fix the menu on the website!
I had a goat cheese and pear salad to start and followed it with Nemo's signature dish: Miso Broiled Sea Bass with citrus-ginger butter sauce, steamed rice, asparagus, and carrot tempura. Wow! Everything was prepared marvelously!
This one is a definite must do again whenever we return to the area, and, yes, they have offerings to suit the kids as well. -
Review from Ivonne G.
On my short trip to Naples, I did some investigative work on which restaurants I wanted to try out based on yelpers reviews. I have not been disappointed yet. As we walked in to this establishment, we were met by the hostess who immediately assisted us and sat us immediately as we had reservations.
Our server Milania was really friendly and was really quick on her feet. For appetizers, we ordered the Nemo's appetizer selection for two..it was really really good..the tuna tataki was succulent and the tuna had just the right seasoning...the ceviche was perfection (sea bass, shrimp, salmon, grilled pineapple, and lime), and the rock shrimp tempura was lightly battered and smothered with spicy mayo..the perfect combination. Th shrimp was not heavy which went with the rest of the appetizers..light on the belly and yummy.
I ordered the famous sea bass and the reviews were dead on..it was amazing. It melted in your mouth like it was warm butter..absolutely delicious. My husband was jealous but still happy with his choice..which was the macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi. It was really good as well but could not compare to the sea bass.
We had a great time and recommend this restaurant if you are in the Naples area. You will not be disappointed..great food and great service. -

I don't know what it would take to get a 5 from me. I've maybe had 4 or 5 meals that would rate that in my life. But this place is pretty close.
It can get loud, and you do want a reservation (although, if you don't have one, try to score a seat at the tiny bar and eat there - the service is usually pretty goo there).
Note, beer, wine and saki only - although they make some very good cocktails using saki. -

Excellent lunch spot, unique place with good service. The food was all done very well. The staff was a bit "cold" but overall the place was well worth it. Glad we did some homework and selected this place for our quick trip to Naples.

I always try to visit a place a second time before penning a review about it. And my trip(s) to USS Nemo was no exception. On my second trip in two years I enjoyed a very pleasant meal with my girlfriend at this quite quirky Naples establishment.
Usually when you think of Naples you don't think of quirky-it's more like slow drivers, Cadillacs, and daily afternoon showers. But quirky is perfect to describe this little gem right off Tamiami. Nestled snugly in the middle of a bizarre strip mall, you would not expect to see a nautical themed asian fusion restaurant-but alas, that is what you would get.
When I entered USS Nemo for the first time (and for that matter, the second,) I was surprised to see a strange contingent of people. There were the Naples usuals: old men decked out in too-large-for-their-bodies Brooks Brothers jackets, mildy overweight Dads in pastel IZOD polos, khaki shorts, and monogrammed belts, and Old ladies that remind you strangely of Lucille from Arrested Development. However, there were also families in t-shirts and shorts, couples way over dressed (including myself & gf), and the occasional crying baby. So when I walked in and saw the scene I was immediately glad I forewent the dinner jacket.
Our server sat us among the aquariums (that strangely had no fish) and walnut furniture, and we promptly ordered a set of specialty cocktails: I selected the Sake-Vodka martini, and she selected the Hemingway favorite (my words, not theirs) Mojito. It was no time at all until we were sipping on our drinks and enjoying a complimentary hors'doeuvre of seaweed salad, pickled ginger, and a few other selections.
Overall, the drinks were quite good, the Mojito was plenty sweet and refreshing-one of the better mojitos that I have had in quite some time. And the martini was nothing to sneer at as well-tasty, well-balanced, although I could have stood it to be a bit more dry. But I think that was my fault.
I elected for my main course to be U-8 Diver Scallops, which were succulently prepared in a roasted red pepper and vanilla sauce. Though the scallops were PERFECTLY cooked, I could have stood more vanilla in the sauce, as it ended up a bit red peppery for my tastes. The Spinach "rockefeller" and potato gratin were tasty, but I think the spinach was a little too soaked with the vn-rrp sauce-but again that is personal taste.
My girlfriend got the Mediterranean Sea Bass and it was equally as delicious. Although I do not recall the more fine aspects of it's taste, I would order it myself if I go again.
Overall, I found the experience pleasant. The bill was a little high for the end of the meal, considering we got only two drinks and two appetizers-but for most in Naples this would not be a problem, I suppose. I highly recommend USS Nemo for a night out for two-but don't go crazy if you are looking to have a dinner on a budget-this is not that kind of place. -

The freshness of the products deserves an applause. The preparation and mise en place (presentation)of the dishes is rather dissappointing and very typical American: demi glaze balsamic sugar sauce (I really can't understand the wide spread use of this dressing, maybe it's because of the sugar addiction of many Americans) that doesn't match with cooked fish disches, babyfoodlike little piles of tomato sauce, far-sought and strange combinations, black burnt tuna steak ... a lot of overacting (to hide inexperience?) from a chef that badly needs to follow cooking classes.
We were charged a 18% gratituide although we were a party of only 5 and there was nothing mentioned in the menu about this... again a good exemple of tourist extortion, SOOOOOOO typical for SW Florida, especially now that most of the local businesses are in need of quick cash! -

Husband and I stopped here for lunch while we were in town. The food was great, the service was efficient if a little stand-offish. The decor was also on theme without being cheesy. Very classy place and a great lunch spot if you are in the Naples area.

With port hole windows, Riviera yellow umbrellas outside, and copper doors to the kitchen, USS Nemo is channelling Jacques Cousteau. This is my new favorite place to eat seafood!
About two dozen mussels in fragrant tomatoe broth made up my luncheon order. The waiter dramatically lifted the lid of a heavy iron steamer right at my table, revealing blue-black treasures in a cloud of steam. mmmmm
I will return with the promise to try other fishy fare. -
Review from Arwen L.
Everybody stop! I found Nemo!!!
And then I ate him...
Or at least his long distance cousin, the Grouper. The Grouper was crusted in mushrooms (WHAT?!?!) S/he was served with a creamy risotto and sauteed chard with a grape sauce. I didn't even know what grape sauce was but, OMG--SO GOOD.
Reservations are a must! I was alone, so I was able to sit at the last seat at the bar. I will note that just about everyone except one person had gray, silver or blond hair, however this was a lively bunch of retirees sprinkled with their adult grand children who were probably my age.
The crowd was booming for Naples and the place was jam packed and loud, and I like a good loud restaurant. I sat close to the kitchen, I think it can be the best seat in the house sometimes, you get to see where the magic happens. So much passion back there!
Upon being seated at the bar I was greeted by a cheerful member of the bar staff and had a glass of water server by the bar back before I could even say hello. I was then presented with a bowl of bread served with hummus, some sort of spicy peanut-y slaw that was incredible, pickled ginger and seaweed salad.
They don't have a full bar, only sake, wine (prosecco and champagne included) and beer (Hoegarden, Boston Lager, Ichiban and good ol' Michelob). They do in turn, have a nice espresso machine and will concoct your cappuccinos and the like.
This place a must-try if in the Naples area!Listed in: Chains make me wanna…, West Siiiide...of Florida that…

We enjoyed a late lunch at Nemo's during the post Christmas holiday week. Simply put - this place was fantastic. Excellent service and ambience even during the day. We opted for the miso salmon and miso sea bass after reading a few reviews, and were not disappointed. Lovely presentation, and excellent quality on both entrees. We have added Nemo's to our "go to" list when in Naples and can hardly wait to return!

My Yelp senses told me to follow the 5 star reviews and come hungry and full of high expectations. I'm like Spider Man looking for fine food...
Yay, Yelp Senses!
Everything about this place is just right - especially during a long weekend of easy breezy relaxation in sleepy but oh so shiny, Naples.
My parter-in-ease and I ordered all the items on the menu with stars next to them: Sea Bass, Swordfish, 3 Seaweed Salad, just deeeevine.
The sauces on every dish complimented perfectly. The wine and spirits came quickly and were delightfully thirst quenching. The waiter was quiet and attentive- in keeping with our easy- breazy- no fuss - don't bother us vacation mood. The dining room was small enough to be intimate but not crowded. People of all ages - civilized but not stiff nor pretentious.
Do all of your senses a favor and come here on all of your trips to Naples. You won't be disappointed. If you are - sorry, but that just doesn't make sense!
Oh- I almost forgot. The waiter told us someone in the kitchen accidentally discarded by little to-go plate - so they cooked me up a fresh little piece of sea bass with some sticky rice and sauce in a fresh to-go box. How sweet is that! :) -

I AM IN HEAVEN! The owner Nicolas Mercier, chef-owner of USS NEMO just emailed me the recipe of their USS Nemo Mussels Roquefort with wine, blue cheese, pepper, and cream. It is rather complicated with many expensive ingredients which makes me just love them more. I also can't believe what a deal they are. So reasonable! Just last week I ate at an upscale new restaurant called Scratch in Mountain View, Ca and ordered their mussel appetizer, being forever hopeful. SO BAD! And so expensive for what I got which was 1 truly good mussel out of the 10 they served with a so so sauce.
Anyway, I digress from my current ecstasy! This weekend think of me sitting in my dining room 3000 miles away, eating huge amounts of the USS Nemo Mussels Roquefort with wine, blue cheese, pepper, and cream and slurping up all that incredible sauce!
THANK YOU SO MUCH chef-owner, Nicolas Mercier. You shall for sure see me as many times as I can get to your restaurant the next visit to my FIL!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Ambiance is sliiightly cheesy, but do not let that mislead you. This food is off-the-hook fantastic. This is a place where the employees genuinely care about the plates they are putting down and those in the kitchen really know what they are doing. Can honestly say this is comparable to some of the best spots in NY and Chicago. Will certainly be back.

I had super high expectations of this place after reading all the reviews. Before I even went in, I knew I was ordering that sea bass. How could you not? It's quality has been well documented by many.
They were not wrong.
The fish is perfectly cooked. When it comes on your plate, it basically has enough tensile strength to keep itself together. But as soon as you put a fork to it, it just comes apart. In your mouth, it literally melts. The glaze and sauce it comes with is delicious. Perfect complement.
I also tried the Roquefort steamed mussels. I was spooning the broth into my mouth after I devoured all the mussels. So good.
What can be said that hasn't been said before? Get that sea bass. Awesome. -

I've been here numerous times and tried many of the dishes, but the very first thing that pops into my head when I think of USS Nemo is the Miso Sea bass. THIS DISH IS TO DIE FOR. Everything else ranges from okay to good, but this dish is the star of the restaurant. I have yet to find another place who comes close to mastering this dish.
Side note: Either make reservations or come at an off time, they get packed quickly, and the seating can be cramped when its busy.
Service can be so so, depending on how busy it is. -

For Naples, this place is just ok. I ordered the house special and did not like the caviar they placed on top of the fish. I ordered the sea bass for it's mild flavor and found the caviar garnish to overpower the sauce. I do not like fishy tasting fish....
My wife had a tuna dish from the deep blue section of the menu. Her fish was topped with goat cheese as advertised. She did not care for her dish. Before going to USS Nemo we had heard so many good things. We might give it another chance next trip back. -

I always have a wonderful meal at the USS Nemo. The restaurant features seafood with an Asian Fusion. Each dish always has so many unique spices perfectly blended together. My palette never gets bored, and I'm always excitedly wondering "What's next!?" as my meal progresses. The small restaurant has an intimate, but lively atmosphere to it. The windows are shaped like port-holes of a ship. They really try some clever ways to make you feel as if you were dining on a ship at sea. Always make a reservation before heading there! It gets super busy!! The staff there is extremely friendly. No complaints at all.
I had the miso broiled sea-bass. It was SCRUMPTIOUS! The orange-ginger sauce complimented the fish extremely well. The tempura carrots that come along with the meal are a yummy side dish to the meal. Also try the Corn and Fish Chowder if you can! There's bacon in it! So tasty. My sister tried the roasted tandoori chicken. I quite frankly laughed at her for getting chicken in a seafood place, but USS Nemo does the dish justice. Not as good as a real indian place, but there was some unique spice to it that the the dish very enjoyable for me. I kept stealing little bits of her plate here and there when I got the chance. -

Went back again and had the Volcano Yellowtail Snapper spicy style and it was very very good. Huge piece of fish.
My father who works nearby often comes here for lunch and says it's always good.
The pear sake martini is grand. One of my new favorite places in Naples.
This place is so good I'm going to nitpick now:
Reservations can be made on their website but they really should get on Opentable. Nothing is easier than making a reservation on OT on your smartphone.
Also seems like they've toned down the place a bit (decor). Works much better. It would be cool if they put water in between the large glass porthole windows with bubbles so it would look like it's underwater. Maybe some blue led lighting.
Service is good; not too much not too little. Not a fan of the paper on the table cloths. And the noise level is a bit much. My iPhone DB meter ran between 85-90db. It was hard to hear the person across from you (and I'm 25)
Who cares! I'd go anytime.1 Previous Review: Show all »

My husband went here the first week of January 2011.
We went on a Thursday night which caught us off guard just how busy the place was on a weeknight. All I can say is MAKE RESERVATIONS! Seriously. The wait for a table was nerve-wracking to say the least. The indoor area was very noisy; I don't know how people at their tables could hear each other. When we first came in, the hostess told us it would be a 15 minute wait. It turned out to be nearly an hour wait. AGAIN, if I can't emphasize this enough to all services, restaurant or not, please be honest and as accurate as possible in your time estimates. I was ready to leave this joint, but my husband convinced me to stay.
We chose to eat outside, which is MY recommendation to you unless it's too cold or you like a lot of dining din. Once we got outside, I could finally breathe a sigh of huge relief. The place itself is meh as far as decor and looks cheesy from the outside.
However, the food was ROCKIN' AWESOME from start to finish. They have the best steamed mussels I have ever had hands down. The salad was fresh and delicious. The tuna - I think it was the east meets west or something like that was divine. The coffee superb. Our service was great and I didn't feel rushed despite the crowded restaurant, filled tables and almost endless line out the door!
I would definitely come here again. It was the best food I had in Naples by far. It's also off the beaten path and looks like lots of locals come here. -

Really enjoyed our lunch at USS nemo
we were prompted seated when we arrived and our server was friendly and made a number of good suggestions
i started with a corn and fish chower, its not heavy at all, perfectly fresh tasting with chunks of fish and red bell peppers, super yum!
my dining companions both had salads (one asian and one caribbean) and they liked theirs
i went with the grouper with mushroom risotto, my fiance had the volcano yellowtail snapper and his dad had the miso broiled sea bass
wow! everything tasted great
we were too stuffed to have any desserts but really wished we have room
definitely a great place to check in Naples -

Best seafood we have ever had!! Go to this place... We went based on previous yelp reviews and even then it exceeded our expectations. We can't wait to go back to Naples to eat here again.
The Miso Sea Bass is so fresh it melts in your mouth, its is soooo delicious. The Tuna was excellent as well. They serve a very interesting hummus dish with their soft bread. Its an unusual combination of flavors that really compliment each other well. I don't usually love ginger but I tried it and loved it with the other flavors. Save space for dessert because they were yummy too.
Dont be scared away from the shopping center outside look. Inside this place is neat. Its nice but not over the top. Its got dark blue walls and all wood finish, all the windows are circles so it gives the feel of a submarine but classy and modern not overly done.
The service was on point and friendly, well informed. -

I just drafted my review of the Turtle Club, so I'd be remiss not to review USS Nemo.
Simply put--you must go to USS Nemo while in Naples. The decor is wonderful--a little dark, mod, but classy. The very friendly French-Canadian manager himself hosts and serves with flair--this is a guy whose passion for fusion cuisine is worn on his sleeve--we chatted about Japan, the culture, and food, and probably could have continued for some time. He's a man with a mission, and by all accounts he's succeeding!
Had a fantastic vegetable tempura appetizer--just perfect. Bread is served with pickled Ginger, seaweed, hummus, on the side rather than butter--and it was great, the bread fresh and soft.
Had the tuna filet entree, Eastern style, flash seared. The rice was just a tad too Americanized perhaps with salt or salted butter marring it's otherwise perfect moist and firm Japan-authentic texture--the only minus, but not enough to detract from my pleasure with the meal.
Finally, I have to mention the full-page sake and sake-mixed-drink list--very impressive. I tried the sake martini, quite good. And the after dinner espresso was perfect.
Great restaurant, great food, great staff and manager--you absolutely have to try it.
PS: check out the funky bathrooms! -

What can I say that hasn't been said before?
We happened upon USS Nemo's when Fujiyamas was packed (on a Friday night. Go figure) and as we drove down US41 looking for a decent place to eat, I saw the bright neon sign glowing in the dark.
It took a little coaxing to get my 3 friends to turn around and try it but I had read reviews before about how great this place is and we were not disappointed!
Seating was surprisingly no problem and only took a few moments (it was loud and full to the brim inside, and we chose to enjoy the nice Florida breeze outside)
Decor is unique and a breath of fresh air. No boring flamingo and palm tree motifs here!
The seared swordfish melted in my mouth, and the lobster and shrimp pasta with white sauce was splendid. Everything came out fresh, very quick and perfectly cooked.
Service was blasé yet efficient. I will be back as soon as possible. -

Small and non-commerical coupled in with great food makes for an absolutely fantastic meal. You wouldn't expect it or even notice but it is worth a trip. My entree was the Indian Tandoori Spice Blackened Tuna which was perfectly prepared, presented and tasting. If you are fortunate enough to be in the area go here and eat. I would not recommend for more than 4 people.
