I have been lauded by my friends around the world for owning a vermicompost bin (compost with worms). Many of them are further impressed that we live on the 3rd floor of an apartment building! My point in mentioning this is that I myself have been surprised again and again how *easy* it is to have our own compost.

The greatest help to our success is the group of ladies who sold us our worms: Urban Worm Girls Stephanie, Amber, and Angie. Not only were they great about selling us 1000 (!) worms in the first place, but since then have been extremely helpful in answering any/all questions we've had about the complete vermi-process. Chicago is lucky to have such competent business as these women have established, and I for one will do anything I can to get as many people with worm bins as possible!

Compost is the first step toward self-sustainability! Let the Worm Girls help you step into the Earth-friendly future.

My husband and I do vermicomposting in our kitchen and we love it! :)  The Urban Worm Girls made it super easy.  We attended a workshop in June where they shared lots of tips and tricks with us in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.  We got to put together our own bins and listen to the Urban Worm Girls share their stories.  I've heard of people who've had nightmare experiences doing this on their own - we've never had a problem and I firmly believe it is because we went with Urban Worm Girl.  They gave us a little take home booklet, and they even provide a worm hotline, but thanks to all the upfront advice we haven't had to use it yet!   All of our family and friends who come over want one! :)

The Urban Worm Girl is great.  They are very helpful w/ questions and get back to you right away.
The worm bin is a great setup.  It's easy to use and the worms seems to like it too.  I just 'harvested' my 1st compost a couple weeks ago and it's good looking stuff.

We live on a finite planet and a linear system, i.e. "take from the ground, make, use and throw in a landfill, doesn't make sense. Composting is a way to close the loop. Remember, we don't have to do everything, just do something. Composting is easy and the Urban Worms Girls are perfect for Rookies. Their system is the easiest one in existence.

P.S. If you have kids, get worms. They are the best pets a family could have. Low maintenance, they do work and they help teach children how nature works.

We had Urban Worm Girl demonstrate a worm bin for our garden club which is now happily installed in my basement.  Amber was friendly and informed.  What a great way to compost all year round.
