Small, maybe, but it felt big because it was so clean and well organized.
I wasn't irritated at all like I would have been in any other UO stores.
A neat space usually puts me in a good mood, and makes me do thing I wouldn't normally do, such as giving them 4 stars, buying a dress made by Free People or thinking "if Miley Cyrus can pull it off, so can I!"

So. The first Brooklyn Urban Outfitters has opened. For various vague reasons I was an attendee at the "exclusive" preview party on Wednesday night, which seemed to consist of a bunch of people in hipster costumes who worked at Urbans around the city, "DJ the Rapture" (who may or may not have had anything to do with The Rapture), a couple of kegs, and a guy with a camera who may or may not have been a real photographer but either way now has my picture. Oh, and the Endless Summer taco truck from Williamsburg parked out front serving free tacos, which actually was kind of awesome.
The store itself is pretty small - comparable in stock and footage to the 2nd Avenue location (to put it in crass commercial terms.) The first floor is women's, the lower floor is menswear and shoes. There is a very limited selection of Urban Renewal, footwear and accessories and no homewear.
The space is bright, fairly airy and errs on the (Urban Outfitters) side of French Provincial - lots of white-framed mirrors and painted wainscotting. Perhaps a nod to the neighborhood demographic?
Overall, underwhelming. Not the hood-destroying behemoth I'd pictured, but, resultingly, not very exciting. (I know, there's no pleasing me!) As Urbans go, restrained and pretty modest. But then, a small step for Urban Outfitters, a giant step for Big Business.
