(Note that her space is on the second floor of the building and I don't think there's an elevator...)
I was fortunate to connect with Sya a couple of months ago when my massage therapist moved to back to Germany.
Urban Oasis isn't a spa, but there are some nice touches like cucumber-flavored water. Or hot herbal tea, which is nice on a cold, foggy day.
You can sense Sya's warmth and positive energy as soon as you walk in. And every time I come for my appointment, I get the feeling that she genuinely cares about how I'm doing and what aches and pains are bothering me that day.
Sya is a skilled massage therapist. Her experience allows her to tailor each session rather than doing the same massage over and over again. I've had 4 or 5 appointments and each massage was slightly different. The only constant was that I felt amazing after each session. -

Sya gave me the best massage I've had in a long time. Her unique mix of modalities, combined with her very tangible positive energy and friendly demeanor, created a perfect experience.
With only a few hours to spare before a red eye flight, I found Urban Oasis on my Yelp app while in the Mission. Sya picked up the call right away and thank goodness, she had an opening that I quickly snapped up. Sadly, the session was only for 60 minutes, because I definitely didn't want her to stop, but the rest of her Saturday afternoon was booked -- rightfully so.
Sya had tea and water waiting on my arrival and we had a short yet engaging conversation afterward. I never felt rushed. And that the hour flew by so fast was a testament to her skills. I was also happy to see she accepted credit cards, as I hadn't hit the ATM first.
I'm a big bodywork fan and have had many massages over the years. It's not too difficult to find good technique in reputable places. However, it is very rare to find the perfect mix of technique, energy and a personality as welcoming as Sya's -- plus she offers Yelp check-in deals! If you're in the Mission area, looking for massage, you can't go wrong with Urban Oasis. -

Went for an injury and it was clear that she really cared. Lovely massage.

The masseuse didn't help my muscle pain in the least, she had no idea what the problem was, and she had no concrete recommendations for follow-up.
The only tangible benefit I got for the $100, was a glass of water. Thanks...
Other reviews seem to mention someone called "Sya", and this worthless bimbo was a "Sara". So your experience might differ.
I don't know anything about "positive energy", "aura", "aligning the soul", or such. I know about when it hurts and when it doesn't. It still does, just as much. And I'm out of a good $100.
Stay away, is my advice. Cheers. -

Sya has magical hands. I always leave feeling amazing. She has really done wonders for my muscles and my mind. She also does some really wonderful stretching during the massage that helps loosen my lower back. I have also had a massage from her new therapist Sara and it was quite wonderful. I love the new space and the service it top notch.

Review from Rachel W.
San Francisco, CA
Sya is incredible. I have been to many, many masseuses and Sya is the best.
I may be the least flexible woman alive, but when I walk out of Sya's building, I feel like I am walking on air. I have regularly been indulging in Sya's services for almost six months, and it is something that I truly look forward to. She tailors each session specifically to my needs. I saw that I booked an appointment for this week, and can't hardly wait. She is as nice and honest as they come, and her hands have incredible healing powers.
Pay Sya a visit for yourself, and if not for yourself, for your significant other and/or coworkers. -
Review from Sarita S.

Urban Oasis was not the relaxing experience one would expect from a massage parlor. Through a Bloomspot offer, I purchased a voucher for a massage that was never received.
I scheduled an online appointment on the Urban Oasis website on Saturday, January 15, 2011. The appointment was scheduled for Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 12:15 PM with Sya. My massage appointment was made well in advance from the initial
Saturday, February 26, 2011 date.
On Monday, February 21, 2011, Sya called me and said "she would
be unavailable for my appointment on Saturday (February 26, 2011)" and asked to reschedule for "Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 1:00 PM". During the call, I felt Sya was looking for a rushed response to rescheduling the appointment -- which I could not provide.
I had to review my weekly schedule to see if this would be an appropriate time. Through viewing my schedule, I learned Sunday would not be good time for an appointment due to other scheduled family commitments. The following days of Monday, February 28, 2011 & Tuesday, March 1, 2011 were also not appropriate for me.
When I called Sya back, fifteen minutes later, on Feb 18, 2011, I explained that Sunday, February 27, 2011 would not work for me. I
also indicated that "Monday, February 28, 2011 & Tuesday, March 1, 2011 (last day to redeem offer) would also not work."
While speaking with Sya, she developed a rude unprofessional attitude over the phone. Sya said "Well, I tried calling you to see if you were flexible enough to move your appointment. I no longer do Saturday appointments. Just last week, I gave seventeen massages. I decided that I needed to look out for my well being. I am not canceling your appointment. I just wanted to move it. Since you are not flexible, I will keep your appointment for Saturday (Feb 26, 2011)."
Sya made me feel really uncomfortable with proceeding with my upcoming Saturday, February 26, 2011 appointment. I explained to her "I do not want to come there for an appointment. I am going to feel really uncomfortable going there knowing that you are only doing my massage to "take one for the team"."Your web site never had any information indicating that you don't do Saturday appointments." I also requested a refund for her wanting to cancel my appointment.
In response, I felt Sya had a condescending tone, when she said "There are no refunds. There are no refunds". She also tried to use reverse psychology on me by giving the impression that canceling the appointment would be my fault -- when she was the one who contacted me initially wanting to cancel. I don't need guilt trips. Due to her ongoing condescending attitude, I hung up the phone.
Sya responded by calling me over two times until I said "Please stop
calling me. I am uncomfortable with going there for a massage. Thanks." and hung up the phone.
After speaking with Sya, I immediately contacted BloomSpot regarding my disturbing experience with Urban Oasis. Bloomspot was gracious enough to provide me with a refund.
This was my first and last experience with Urban Oasis. After having this conversation with Sya, I learned that improvements need to be made on her time management skills and phone etiquette towards customers. I have never experienced such rude unprofessional behavior in my lifetime from a business owner and company.Comment from Sya W. of Urban Oasis 3/15/2011

Since I started going to Sya last month, I can't imagine my world without her. I came in super tense in my shoulders and neck and even after the first session, I felt like a new person. She even followed up the next day.
The best best best massage I've ever had, reasonably priced and she genuinely cares about your well-being. I just visited her new place and its a great sanctuary among the hustle and bustle on mission filled with great energy. (and incredibly quiet since its facing away from the street).
Thanks Sya, you're amazing! -

The other reviews seem to say it best, but I'll say it again.
I have been to Sya a few times and she is, hands down, the best massage therapist I have ever been to. Not only are her massages ALWAYS everything I could ask for, but she is also warm, soothing, and pleasant. She goes the extra mile to make it the best experience every time and truly makes you feel at home.
The only improvement would be for everyone else to stop going, so that I can make my last minute appointments a little easier! Maybe she has a twin sister that has the same healing powers? -

Davina helped me with shoulder and back issues for a couple months. Having been to at least ten different therapists, she gave me the most lasting effects. I'm not embarassed to say that I took advantage of a great deal for massages on Mondays, but had to discontinue our work after the deal ended. I highly recommend her, and if I could afford the regular rates, I would be back in a heartbeat.
(Side note: I have to disagree with the 2-$$ rating -- you're crazy, San Francisco... $100 for 60 min is pricey!) -
Review from Adrienne D.

Sya is wonderful.
Whenever the door opens and I walk upstairs I feel like I am entering a sanctuary.
Sya always offers me some soothing tea and chats with me to see how I am doing and what has happened since my last visit. It is like visiting an old friend.
Then the massage starts and my muscles start to melt. She always manages to hone in on my tension and work with just the right amount of pressure and intuitive touch to make me feel like I am floating away.
After the massage Sya has usually thought of some great suggestions for things that can help reduce my stress (like local meditation classes or giving me sea salts for my bath.) It is clear that she has a gift not just for massage but for healing.
The only thing I wish was that there was more than one of her. I am truly awful about scheduling my massages in advance. I usually wait until I have not slept for nights or a big ball of stress before I think to schedule my massage, and when I do I want it right away. So, I cant always get in to see her but when I do it is a real treat! -

Sya has magic hands. Seriously. I have had two 60 minute massages with her now and each time I have left the building, floating.
She's not only extremely good at creating a relaxed and soothing atmosphere, but she is also incredibly skilled at finding the areas of the body that need most work and relieving knots and tension.
Last time I went, she suggested I try a little cranio sacral work and it blew my mind.
I will be continuing to see her for a long time to come. -

I had a massage with Davina and it was very nice. A blend of Swedish and Deep Tissue that melted away most of the pains and aches associated with recently running a half-marathon.
Davina is very intuitive, used perfect pressure and checked in from time to time to make sure things were still good. It's been a while since I've had a massage but I still know when I'm getting a good one.
I left feeling very relaxed and with a little information regarding some new stretches I could do pre and post runs to keep limber.
I'm a fan!
Can't wait to go back next week and try out Thai massage with Sya. -

So I'm a fiend for bodywork. Let me just put this in perspective for you .
1. My mother owned a day spa when I was young,
2. A girl with weak hands is a dating deal breaker in my book
3. I actually have a dedicated Massage room in my loft with my own table and all
So after moving to San Francisco and jumping from one lackluster therapist to another I stumbled upon Sya one afternoon and went out to her studio in the Mission. From the first minute of arriving and hearing that soothing melodic voice and smelling the lightly scented candles the stress started to melt away.
Her massage style is really unique everything from acupressure to deep pressure to Thai all rolled into one exquisite 90 minute experience left me not only feeling completely rejuvenated but so relaxed I doubted I would be able to pry myself off of her table before taking a short nap. She relieved that with a nice warm cup of tea and I left thanking the powers that be that I had finally found an awesome therapist here in SF.
Shortly thereafter I hired Sya for a big house party I was throwing. She set up in the aforementioned massage room and my party guests kept peppering me with amazed compliments about how wonderful she was. I've since sent friends to Sya as well as used her amazing services as gifts for my girlfriend.
Now bodywork with Sya has become a tradition, much in the same way my father getting drunk while putting up the christmas lights and chasing me around with powertools became a tradition years back but that's a whole nother and far less pleasant story. -

I showed up to Sya's studio with a sore... everything.
I walked Bay to Breakers this year toting a heavy messenger bag full of libations and then turned around at the park and walked all the way back to Potrero. Combine that with a long bike ride the day before and a constant stream of days where I spend 10 hours or more in front of a computer and you get the picture.
I've been to a variety of different massage therapists over the years and Sya was definitely tops. After she got past the unpleasantness of working out the tougher knots, I got into that wonderful trance-like place where you really forget about surroundings and just zone out completely.
Sya has a wonderful, intuitive touch and after 90 minutes I was nearly new. I woke up this morning feeling much, much better. Go Sya. -

Hi,
I just wanted to write a review for Urban Oasis Spa. I just had the best massage ever from Sya. She was very sweet and gentle the whole time. I haven't had a massage in a long time and I would definitely come back to see her. The room was very peaceful, it smelled really good: a mix of herbs, and she played sounds of birds which I had no idea would be so relaxing. All in all it was a great experience. I am 5 months pregnant too which makes the massage different because of the position I had to lay in, certain areas that cannot be massaged, etc. But Sya is certified to give prenatal massage and she really made me feel relaxed and at ease. I was comfortable in the position as well. I definitely recommend Sya at Urban Oasis for a great massage experience. -

Most of the massage therapist in the immediate area needs at least a day's advance notice for an appointment. After my first attempt at a pilates class, I called around different therapists who told me that it takes at least a day in advance. When I was in contact w/Sya, she inquired further about my situation and made a later appointment for me that same day.
After the initial discomfort of her hitting my sore areas and tight knots, I was zonked out. (My personal definition of a great massage is the quickness I'll fall asleep and awaken to a more limber self) Upon waking up, I found myself ready to hit the gym floor again much to her protest and warning! -

I am truly blessed to know Sya both as a dear friend, and as a miracle worker! Seriously. I am plagued (and blessed, I guess) by very large breasts which consequently lead to horrible, horrible back pain. Sya's work leaves me feeling so relaxed and pain free. She removes the dents from my shoulder blades and the irritation I feel from always carrying so much on my shoulders.
As a masseuse she has an amazing gift of listening to your body's needs with her hands and being naturally guided to the source of your pain.
I highly, highly recommend seeing her, and also going out for tea with her after, because she is amazing. -

My early morning session w/ Davina was divine; she was welcoming, gracious, and intuitive. I especially appreciated how she combined Deep Tissue with a series of stretches - this enabled her to attend to muscles that would've been otherwise hidden ... I didn't even know these muscles were there! Thank you.

My experience with Sya has been outstanding. I recently had a bad back injury and she helped me through the healing process. Since then I have continued to see her on a regular basis. I feel great and she really does a wonderful job. I have been to many therapists and she is hands down the best I have worked with. Go see her, you will not be disappointed!!

Sya has a very nice gentle manner and a relaxing space. It's a healing modality office but I didn't actually see a sign with her business' name outside. She was a massage goddess for my tight jaw muscles (TMJ)! I grind my teeth and although her massage hurt, I could really feel how much better my muscles felt after just about 5 minutes and she did a good job of teaching me how to address it at home. If you have TMJ problems, go see her!

I lived right down the street from Urban Oasis for a couple years and never even knew this lovely studio existed. What a find! Sya is a very talented massage artist and was very perceptive to my needs. I left the studio in a blissful haze of relaxation that carried into the rest of the week. Highly recommended!

i've seen sya on two occasions! one at a party at a penthouse where the host hired her to give massages to the guests. She worked hour after hour throughout the night. We loved her energy and her hands. So, I decided to try for myself a 90 minute massage. I had her come to my home and she came on time and with a smile! She got down to business. She knew I was stuffed up and brought eucalyptus to help clear me up. And it did... I welcomed each time she brought the eucalyptus up to my nose as I laid on the table. The chinese linement she uses is amazing. Sya is professional and gives a great massage!! I recommend her services to everyone!!!

I went to Sya after a long-fought battle with a severe cough/sickness (the plague that's been getting around, or perhaps a combo of a few plagues, ok bronchitis + walking pneumonia) had won me over. I felt awful, had been in bed for weeks, and I was achey all over. Sya took the time to listen to what I had been through, what I was looking for, and proceeded to coax that illness on its way out of me. Despite the fact that I'm still recovering, I felt immensely better the next day, and I'm convinced this massage was a key factor. I appreciated her firm, thorough touch and combination of techniques. Highly recommended!

As a hair stylist, I do terrible things to my body, especially my back. Luckily, Sya is always able to soothe and realign my aching muscles. Sya does first class healing work, and made me wish I lived in San Francisco so that I could be a regular client. She listened to what I thought was wrong, investigated, and provided serious relief. Her presence is calming, her studio warm and inviting, but most importantly her hands are incredibly skilled. She used a combination of techniques for maximum effect - no formal discipline boundaries, just good healing. Absolutely go.

I have been massaged by Sya many times. She is sensitive and caring. She listens to feedback and checks in. Late in the evening Sya answered the phone and agreed to see me, a new client who was desperate to get some deep pressure treatment for a serious pinched nerve. I found her through Yelp and she was fantastic. She does excellent work, obviously cares and is also good at communicating how she will treat you. I highly recommend her and will definitely go back. She got me back to work the next day when I didn't think it was possible. Thanks so much!

I first saw Sya a few months ago and quickly realized that I had found one of the best masseuses around. She listens and delivers exactly what you need. One of the best massages I've had in a long time. Sya really payed attention to the areas needing the most work, and did a great job with opening up and doing some stretches to target the hard to reach pain in my hips. She is very thorough and I left her space floating on a cloud (which is a state I hope to achieve with any massage, but rarely do). Thanks Sya;)
