The Black Lemonade will having you on your knees ... hey hey hey! Mind out the gutter! I mean it's strong... ;)
It reminds me of a Long Island, not because of taste but because it's deadly! Came by on a Sunday afternoon at about 4p and it was already pretty popping. These gay boys sure know how to party. Walk into a straight bar at 4p and what you'll find is men watching sports :/
So big KUDOS to Mo's. I can see myself returning with the Mister. Hey! He's secure in his masculinity! -

Mo's = A Much Gay-er Abbey of WeHo
Came on a Sunday afternoon with girlfriends not realizing it was a gay club. As soon as the 5 of us walked in I was immediately grabbed and hugged by an over the top friendly asian man in cut off shorts and fancy sunglasses. He and his friend (guy) kissed, booby grabbed my gf's and even picked up one of them off the ground like they hadn't seen us in ages and were waiting for us. Clearly they'd been drinking...We were so confused. The girls went along with everything thinking I knew him! Never met the guy in my life. It was pretty freakin funny. I never even tried to break the news to him.
Dance floor & DJ on Sunday afternoons playing trance/house. On this day there was a 4'8" phillipino man and his ego taking up the dance floor. He could not keep his eyes off himself in the mirror! So like any woman would, we challenged him to a dance off. It was quite the scene to see. We had such a good time.
4 Shots of Patrol Silver ONLY $32!!!
That's unheard of in LA. We were quite the happy campers finding this little spot.
But be aware Hillcrest gay boys are much much more forward than your typical LA gay boy. They'll grab, touch, slap and you won't even know what violated you. Oh, and they LOVE LOVE boobies! So if you're conservative, this is not the place for you. -

A fun place for all, but don't get anything that isn't a burger or pulled pork.
Saturday evening with a group of five. All sorts of lively people in tonight. The atmosphere is awesome, an eclectic music arrangement pulsates from their spacious dance floor pass the two bars and into our booth.
Sadly anything but their delicious burgers or primetime pulled pork was a strike.
The mother plucker wrap missed the Bleu cheese dip and had way too much hot sauce *i love hot sauce, btw*. The chili was served with both loose ground beef and hidden chewy meat balls. The seasoned fries I guess were out season. The hot wings didn't have enough hot sauce and did taste a little tough, although they did give us all legs. Our waitress hardly checked in on us for water refills or drink orders once our food arrive.
I still recommend this place even with this odd night of foul food and subpar service. 3 stars for now. -

How do Leslie C, Clara S, and I start off 2012? At Mo's, of course! Where FABULOUS is so much more than a state of mind. And if you're not feeling fabulous (though Yelpers, I'm sure you're all inherently fabulous), don't fret. Pound back the glasses of bottomless mimosas at the Sunday brunch and you will be fabulous. Guaranteed.
$10 for bottomless mimosas - 90% champagne and 10% OJ. Win? You decide. Ask for it with a splash of cranberry juice for a sex-on-the-beach flair. If there's a line, you can start drinking while you wait for a table. Thank goodness.
$10 for the Sunday Brunch buffet - omelet station, pancakes, French toast, eggs benedict, ham, green beans, fresh fruit, pastries, sausage, potatoes, etc etc, nom nom nom. My favorite item was probably the baked chicken breast with a sweet marmalade glaze (apricot, perhaps?). Delicious.
Insanely fun time with my awesome girlfriends surrounded by tasty food and tastier people? Priceless.
Happy New Year Yelpers! :) -

Dancing Polar Bears! WHAT YOU SAY?!
Yes.. it was a Northern Lights Polar Theme Night.
Good Music, great people, excellent atmosphere, and huge beers from the tap!
Had a good time but my friend got a little to drunk, so we had to leave and I had to do a little bit of baby sitting.
But I definitely recommend this place to anyone. -

Went here for brunch on New Year's Day and had a blast, as usual. I've been to Mo's a couple times before and always had a good time but this time rose above the rest due to two very significant factors:
1. Bottomless Mimosas (heavy on the champagne). Really, do I have to say any more? Drop ten bucks and drink all the fizzy, fruity awesomeness that you want. Amazing.
2. Brunch Buffet! There was fruit. There was ham. There were bagels. There was bacon. There was sausage. There was an OMELET STATION. Honestly, they had pretty much anything I could ask for in a brunch buffet and I was loving it all.
People are friendly, drinks are awesome, and the tunes are popping. If you're lucky enough to find parking on a Sunday morning, you should stop by. -

What a great place! My husband and I were looking for a good hamburger place and a gay bar to have some fun. This place killed two birds w/ one stone. We were seated right away and we instantly noticed how much fun everyone was having. Our waiter, Adam, was attentive but not overbearing. He also knew how to treat his customers and we appreciated it. He knew when to check on us and when to let us enjoy our meal. While my husband had a standard burger, I had the stuffed Mediterranean burger to try something new. I'm glad I did. The Mediterranean burger was very yummy and I highly recommend it. We also had cocktails. I had margaritas which were good, but my husband had vodka tonics that were very strong and very good.
I was also impressed because while the dance music played on our side of the bar, there was an entire other side w/ a dance floor that was playing country music and had line dancing. The music was loud, of course being that it was a gay bar, so I might not recommend if you're going on a first date because it was kinda hard to hear when we wanted to talk. We ate on a Saturday night, so we're not sure how it is on other nights of the week. Next time we're in San Diego, I can see us heading on over again. -

FUN, FUN, FUN!!! I loved this place... I was visiting last week, and of course my favorite friends decided to show me what Mo's was all about. I think by the time we left I made 25 new best friends! Everyone there was so easy going and nice (not to mention good looking). The staff seemed pretty busy, but they kept me happy. All you can eat and drink for $20? Yes, please! Although, in retrospect, I should have had more of the "eat" and less of the "drink". But this is a place I will definitely be going back to when I'm in Sandy Eggo!

Besides the horribly long line during Pride weekend this place was fun, spacious, played good music and served strong drinks.

Awesome Sunday brunch. The champagne is nonstop and the food is pretty good for an all you can eat thing.
Did not really like that they forced us to get off our table towards our end as it was getting packed (we were still able to have some champagne, though). -

Cool place for a bite or a drink. If you can find a place to park this is a great place. The staff knows how to treat you well and is very helpful and friendly.
We stopped in for dinner and the waiter was quick to find us the perfect table and provide suggestions on what to order. Every time we turned around our waiter was there to make sure we were doing OK and even bought us a round.
This place is tops on service and the food was excellent.
DJ and dancing in the back and even line dancing lessons if you dare. -

Tuesday's are a bit eccentric for me and its super loud - all the time. The staff are always super nice. There are signs for the restrooms that indicate gender but no one really cares, so, if you're a woman, I hope you dont mind peeing in a stall next to a man (dont worry he most likely likes men too). I must say Mo's Cobb Salad is by far the best Cobb I've ever had, I'm like the Cobb Queen, always love to try a restaurants Cobb Salad. The food is a bit pricy but it is good and the atmosphere is quite entertaining. :)

OK Mo... listen up!!! We stop by almost every Monday before heading out to Brass Rail and, sorry to say it, but BINGO Night has run it's course... The '80's & '90's videos are fun, but as soon as they start up the Bingo, we are out of there! There is barely anyone playing and the number calling over the music is annoying as hell !!! Even the staff looks exasperated with this theme. The $4 drinx should pack 'em in, but the BINGO drives 'em away! C'mon, let's mix it up with a new concept for Mondays... On a seperate note, your host, Eddie could definitely use an attitude adjustment.--one of least welcoming personalities we've experienced--anywhere--and we've been around !!! Thanx for listening guys!!! :)

Totally not impressed! My and my wife felt like a good hamburger, after a quick search on Yelp this place came up at top 5. I would rate the food at 5/10, service 10/10, place 6/10 and atmosphere 8/10. Will not come back. Sorry.

There was a time in my life when I was not a big fan of Mo's - but luckily the people who made my experiences bad are no longer there. I usually only go to Mo's for breakfast, and all I can say is YUM! No matter how long it has been since my last visit, my gal always knows what I want. Great atmosphere, fun employees and an awesome owner! This is a safe place to take your "straight" friends & family! It is also very kid friendly before 6p.

Urban Mo's or (HoMo's) is the gateway to Hillcrest! Welcome to the gayborhood!!! What can I say about this place?!?!? It's pretty awesome! Inside and outside bars, TVs that show sporting events and Project Runway or _______. Killer drinks, amazing stuffed burgers and always a party atmosphere! Plus they have an electric shuttle that runs back and forth to their sister restaurants up and down University Ave...
If you find yourself in the gayborhood, and want a party filled with random awesomeness, go to Urban Mo's.... -

It's a great place to get a few drinks, hang with friends and enjoy the different nights they have. Wednesday is our favs as we are big time Dream Girls fans. Thurs and St night are country, always friendly people.
The drinks here are great! Good pours, decent prices.
The food is meh. Nothing special.
Hamburger Mary's had the better food, but when the owner dropped the franchise and he couldn't exactly steal their menu, although I really wish he did. If you want to support this business but have better food, go eat at Baja Betty's and then hop their free shuttle to Mo's.
Trust me though, the drinks and friendly atmosphere at Mo's/Kickers is awesome.
Plus, come see Dream Girls on Wednesday. -

FUN place! My cousin and I went on country night? I'm actually not sure what kind of night it was but it was clearly something straight out of high school musical. Everyone knew the same dances!!! I really wanted to jump right in but I was hesitant.
The crowd seems like they all know each other. I wish I was a regular there, cause it was fun! They also had a mechanical bull, which my cousin attempted and failed -- TWICE! haha. Totally free, but you must sign a release form!
$7, large sized drinks..also really strong. Didn't taste like lemonade at all.. lol. AND they had all these really funny table reservation tabs -- look out for them and read!, very entertaining.
On the romantic side of this place, we witnessed a proposal, between these two really cute guys. The DJ cleared the dance floor, and the two guys were slow dancing in the middle, and one of em got on one knee. IT WAS SO CUTE! Congrats to the happy couple! -

REVIEW ON DALLAS THE DJ-
Wow. If you haven't heard Dallas the DJ, shame on and for you. Greatest skate mix and current beats. LOVVVEEE HER! Gets her audience and a sweetheart. Been doing it forever, but not into cd giveaways and Facebook liking...old school. Guess what? She just loves what she does, period. Good God Almighty, they still exist. Even got a personal gift for being a good listener, but I'm special so please dont ask for door prizes:) Shall continue supporting my hood. Ironically DJ turkey burger was awesome, so was service. -

I want to give a special Thanks to Chris and the Crew that work at Urban Mo's. I recently needed a place that had a dance floor to record some audio for a celebrity.
Chris allowed us to go in and record what we needed.
I was so impressed by him and the servers for being so kind and cooperative.
Besides Mo's having some of the best drinks and food in town (I have to stay away from the black lemonade) The folks there have a real sense of community.
This is a place that really pays it forward! Thanks Everyone!

There is so many different "nights" at Mo's, I'll just have to say that I have had the most fun on Sunday afternoons. The food is good for the price and I love the stuffed jalepeno poppers. I always have good service at Mo's, even though the staff can get pretty busy during the hopping hours. So whether you are meeting friends for drinks or grabbing some grub, it will definitely be entertaining all around.

This place is the tits. I dig Urban Mo's...definitely in my top 3 Hillcrest gay bars. I'll tell you why. The food is really good...I stop by here for lunch occasionally. The portions are pretty huge.
My favorite is Wednesday nights. They have the Dream Girls show. It's always a good time - only $5 cover. The drinks are pretty average price but super strong. 2 drinks and I'm damn good. The crowd is always pretty fun too. It's pretty mixed especially on drag nights. If you're new or haven't tried it out yet, I recommend you do. -

Always passed by this place & it seems to be always packed & it never stops! I never had a chance to stop until that one day that San Diego lost its power. yes this spot was buzzing & happening! they had a car battery powered light over the registers & fake small lit up candles all over. "Cash only" of course!
I loved the energy & how happy & wonderful everyone was BUT the bar tender was really RUDE! I had asked for a light beer & he must have misheard me, when he came back with the wrong kind I asked him if he had my preference, then he lashed on me! "we need to make due with what we have now !" Very unprofessional & unwarranted!"
I will be back to try the food on a better day, perhaps that bar tender will be portray this place in a better light when electricity in back on! -

I used to kick it here often and had just recently went back. This time I went with my girlfriend. We had some appetizers and I mostly drank, XX of course. Then we cruised over to the other side of Mo's and hit the dance floor. I am a straight man and this is a gay club, and this place is a lot more fun than most straight bars I've been to, out of the downtown area of course.
the people and service here have always been great and the drinks are always made with a generous amount of alcohol ;) I highly recommend you hit this place up if ever partying in Hillcrest. Just go early if you want to have a spot to sit down at because this place gets packed early.

Came here for Sunday Funday evening party time. A bit of a hassle getting inside since Mo's was already at capacity at 7pm. (Plan on waiting or coming early I guess.)
After inside, the group shared a couple of appetizers and a few rounds of drinks were ordered. Our server was really mellow and relaxed about splitting up the bill amongst the 6 of us.
After our bellys were full of cheesy potato goodness, and our brains slightly buzzing. We headed inside to get our groove on for a while. The dance floor was fairly empty however, it was a Sunday. I've been to Mo's on Fridays and Saturdays and the floor can get packed with sexy sweaty bodies. OH MY!!
Getting the bar tenders attention here can be a bit tricky, pace your drinks accordingly. -
Review from Karrie Y.
San Diego, CA
First, let's be clear... I am a fan. There is so much culture going on here, it's ridiculous. What kind of culture... I'm not sure exactly, but it put me out of my element, fer sure... and that's always a good thing.
Came here with a girlfriend on a Saturday morning desperately looking for a good breakfast after a workout in the park and G'dammit if that line at Hash House gets any longer.... So, Mo's it was.
Service is lacking a bit, but it does have that "you're at our house" feel to it, so you're just casually kicking back waiting for your friend to come by and give you some attention. Problem was, we did not feel like part of the "friends & family"-- hetero, female-- nuff said. Ok, so we get it and we're still able to enjoy the scene, just leaves you feeling a little awkward, you know? Like the real friends and fam are wondering who let the strangers in...
Food was good, large portions-- breakfast, pretty easy. We had a breakfast burrito and the Huevos Mexicana- both delish. And all the other plates surrounding us looked pretty great as well. Was not a fan of the baby bottle creamer-- something just kinda gross about that.
The only real bummer, however-- is the smoke. Such a great patio, would love to be able to enjoy it and a great meal with friends, without feeling suffocated by the smoke-- it's just not appetizing at all.
At the end of the day... I'll be back-- with the right friends in the right mood.. it's all good. -

Review from Chris L.
The self-professed neighborhood gay watering-hole with a hetero-friendly vibe. Hillcrest's staple has its signature pink flamingos adorning its space.
They recently retooled part of the venue by demolishing a large exterior wall and in its place installed tall folding glass doors that basically allows for a seamless transition from the indoor area to the bustling outdoor patio.
There are three bars inside to handle all the thirst --- the patio bar, the large indoor island bar, and third small one tucked in the back adjacent to the dance floor.
Mo's is most always bustling with activity and energizing music, playing host to a diverse crowd of gays and heteros of all ages, from all walks of life, and all ethnicities.
Everyone here is always treated to a great time, whether you're here to meet up with a friend for a round of drinks after work or getting smashed off their bottomless mimosas during Sunday brunch.
The black lemonade is lethal and their happy hour is one of the best in town. Most of the food off the menu is hearty and comes in large portions, which does a great job of countering the booze you're downing. Stick around when the clock strikes 5 PM on a weekday, and you're treated to a shot on the house.
Park off 3rd Avenue and Robinson for free 2 hour, meter-free street parking and walk the one block north to Mo's. -

Review Part 1: Lunch/Happy Hour.
Pretty good food & great service. There is a pretty good happy hour menu with deals on drinks, appetizers and entrees. We ended up splitting Friday's Lunch deal - Mo's 12" Sub with Fries. While the food was nothing outstanding (it's pretty much what you would expect from a bar/grill lunch special) our waitress was a peach and a half! (Of course I also would have loved to have an attractive shirtless man as a waiter at a Gay bar, but I guess they only come out at night...) She was funny, friendly, relatable, and honest while she helped steer us around the menu to find the right choice!
Part 2: Sunday Night
To preface, this was 4th of July weekend so I'm not sure if every Sunday evening/night is like this. It started around 8 when we headed over and stood in line (yes - there was a line to get into a bar on a Sunday evening!) A small cover charge and 10 minutes later we were in. It was pretty packed but could still walk around. We started out at the big bar in the front where we had to wait quite a while to squeeze through people and get our drinks, but the drinks were strong and reasonably priced (for San Diego). I recommend heading over to the bar on the restaurant side. We got a seat right at the bar & didn't have to wait long for drinks.
There's a great mix of people from young to old, every shape, size, and scene. The bartenders were attractive, fun, and entertaining.
In Summary: good drinks, fun crowd, good atmosphere. I had fun and think you could too! :) -

Hilarious! From the servers, to the names of the drinks, to the atmosphere. I absolutely loved it here.
It was my first afternoon in San Diego and my sister was looking for a good place for happy hour. This place happened to be a few blocks from her places so we walked down and I immediately fell in love!
We got the happy hour special margi's. I was effed after two. Strong. And only four bucks. Their apps were really great as well. The fried green beans (Addicting, and super bad news!) had a wasabi - chipotle mix. What the hell. Amazing. I never thought that would even be a good idea. But trust, it was.
Sitting outside on the patio was great. Made some new friends (how friendly is this place?) and when you check in on foursquare they give you a dollar. Best marketing strategy I've seen in a while. -

Loud, beat down, smoking, old, trollish, gay alcoholics (and some wasted, fat Mexican hog women mixed in).
Not a place that any rational person would want to go to eat or do anything for that matter. -

Love the patio, been know to profess my GLBT support even prior to NO-H8, especially loudly and semi-accostingly after a Black Lemonade or 12 - still miss the Mary's Kitch - but the remodel is great - and the sampler platter is still my fave to look so dainty while shoveling fried goodness in my mouth.
Musics rocking and Kickers is my place to get a groove on when you don't want to stay up late for a club, but still want to shake your booty.
