CLOSED! WHAT? NOOOOO!
oh urban - it was not meant to be. the first time i came to this place was (i kid you not) about three weeks before i graduated. my first chicken "ceasar" wrap and i was in love. it was this ooey gooey chicken salad wrap with ceasar dressing and cheese and all warmed on the grille and i think i may cry knowing that i will never have one again.
the guys there were awesome - they worked hard and could be gruff at times, but they were always up for a laugh and you could aways count on them for some old fashioned ribbing. i practically lived there my last three weeks of school and asked josh to get me my sandwich (MYYY SAAAANDWICH!!) whenever he passed by on the way home.
your sandwiches, wraps and huge oven will be missed. please come back.
ETA: Apparently, the owners opened up City Slickers in Ball Square. I don't see my sandwich on the menu though - slumps head in disappointment. -

I know, it's apparently closed now, but I thought about this place yesterday and I couldn't help but give it some Yelp love.
This was THE place I would order from when I wanted good food (that wouldn't necessarily clog all of my arteries either) while I was at Tufts. Everyone I knew could vouch for it as the best place to order from, and although the restaurant itself was a little dingy and small, the people were nice and things were tasty and inventive. Their crab and pancetta stuffed portobella mushrooms, grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies, half roast chicken with jus and various pastas like spaghetti bolognaise and perfect garlic bread were among the stars of their menu. Even better, it was on the points system of the uni at the time! (If you are/know a Jumbo i.e. Tufts kid, you'll know what a joy this is. Paying for food, delivery, etc. at certain locales with your Tufts ID card's moolah instead of cold hard cash!)
I was really disappointed when I saw that they'd been shut down for renovations or something, and even more so when I realized they probably weren't going to open again. I know, the new place from the owners called 'City Slickers' is more or less the same thing (and is apparently still on the Tufts system, by the way, for any Jumbo kiddies out there) but I'll miss this place and always have fond memories. Definitely one of, if not the, best place for delivery in the area - haven't tried City Slickers but I hope it lives up to it's predecessor. -

I currently live in Ball Square and eat here at least two times a week. It's my favorite place to eat in the area, but I don't care for the pizzas - too greasy.
The one bad mark in an otherwise good review is that they have no bathroom. How can they get away with that? It's a sit down restaurant!! -

While we wait to see what the Urban Gourmet looks like after the renovation I'm sure it will have the tasty food I know i have come to enjoy very much. I have to say I have never had the pizza there so I can't comment on that but the pasta and salad dishes have always been good, especially the bolognese sauce which has a little cream to it so it is more of a pink sauce than the standard bolognese I have had at other establishments. I have tried a few other pasta dishes and I have enjoyed them all. If you want to order pizza and eat in, best order ahead, it take 30 minutes for their pizza to cook.
Prices are a little higher than some other takeout in Ball Square but the quality is higher as well. -

The pizza here is bland - no salt in the crust - and takes close to half an hour to get your table after you order. So why the three stars? Their sandwiches rock! A lot of panini-style tasty treats - a very clear contrast with the sandwiches-a-la-pool-of-grease at Kelly's diner next door. Perhaps not worth a special trip (I personally prefer Blue Shirt, O'Naturals or Bhoja in Davis), but definitely the best food in Ball Square outside of Sound Bites.

I'm really glad I found this place before I left Tufts. Ever since my first visit, I have always come to Urban Gourmet on a single and important mission: to order their grilled vegetable salad. It is SO good. [Yes, caps lock worthy]. It comes with yummy roasted garlic dressing and two little goat-cheese-topped garlic bread slices. Now that's what I call a lunch!

I can not believe this place is closed. I hear it burned down, I hope they reopen because everything was amazing. Best food in Somerville.

When I went to Tufts this place was on the points system, which meant I could actually pay for delivery with my Tufts ID card. I used to get the crab stuffed portabella mushrooms at least once a week, not to mention their tasty subs. Probably the best option for delivery in the area.

ALways been one of my favorite delivery spots; always liked their pizza, but I love the steak sandwich with horseradish and more frecently they've added a cuban to the menu. Of course; I think they blew up over the weekend as it looked and smelled all bombed out when I walked by a couple of days ago.

The most indulgent, greasy pizza perfect for a late-night coding session during the school year. You have to watch yourself, though, because if you down more than you should, you'll be stuck in a grease-coma and your productivity will plummet quickly. I love the City Slicker, and can go for any of their specialty sandwiches. Never had the experience in person, and delivery can be a bit slow, but good things come to those who wait.
