I had to breakup with my last hairdresser.  I just can't handle long distance relationships.  He was in Houston and I am now in Austin.  Sigh.  With a heavy heart, I decided to comb over the Yelp reviews in a quest to find fill that void!

I was so happy to find Jamie at Urban Betty.  She was sweet, personable and really cool to talk to.  After a little under an hour, Jamie was able to whip my mermaid length locks into a very versatile, layered cut.  Nothing too trendy but at the same time, nothing "boring."  And best of all it was very "me."

It's been a month since I visited her and the cut has grown in nicely (one of my biggest concerns).  And at 45 bucks (20 bucks less than my last hairstylist), it's all good!  Oh and to top it off, I got a free glass of red!

Thank you Jamie for being my new favorite hairstylist!

I just had a haircut and color from Sarah at Urban Betty. Not only is Sarah extremely personable and fun to talk to, she gave me WINE and did a fabulous job.

It was a little more pricey than what I'm used to paying, but I honestly don't mind. My hair looks fabulous, and I have a buzz and I'll definitely go back.

Thank you Sarah! Thank you Urban Betty. You guys rock.

Madam Betty,

I have waited to write about you for two reasons: 1. A selfish person, I don't want to share you; 2. I believe in visiting a salon at least 4 times before recommending it.

Your location is convenient and your shop is decorated in such wonderful shabby chic I can't stand it. I am always offered a drink, either a glass of cool water or nice wine.

Of course, the most important reason I return to Urban Betty's is my stylist. I am a know-it-all, but when it comes to my car and my hair I rely on the experts to tell me what to do. Time and time again, Amanda has known exactly how to cut and color my hair, whether short, long, blond, or brunette. She is honest; if she doesn't think something would work, she says it and offers another option. She is creative and always has a positive attitude. Now, I know lots of women like to chat with their stylists. I don't feel comfortable sharing my life's stories at the drop of a hat; Amanda carries a conversation of substance (she doesn't chat needlessly) but respects the silence if I need it.

Oh, Sierra!!

I just moved to Austin and was desperately in need of a root touch-up. Urban Betty was recommended to me by one of the stylists from my many years beloved salon back in Seattle and it was everything they said. The space was warm, the people were friendly and I walked out looking and feeling fantastic!

Sierra managed the perfect balance between giving me the Marilyn blond that I wanted and making sure my hair was healthy and strong. She was also a wonderful conversationalist and gave me some superb suggestions on things to see/do in my new neighborhood. Her rates were beyond reasonable and I just can't believe I found my new stylist on my first try!

For sixty dollars, a haircut better blow my damn mind.

Now, don't get my wrong: historically I have always paid about 60 dollars AT LEAST for a haircut and I haven't always been thrilled with it, either. But that is extremely disappointing. I mean, you fork over more money with the presumption that the stylist and the salon is charging more because they are bringing more skill and experience to your head than a a different stylist who charges less might have. That may not be the case, but that's the implication in a higher price tag: a better product. So, yeah: I am not thrilled about paying 60 dollars for a haircut for the same reason I'm not thrilled about paying someone to yank my wisdom teeth, but since it's something that can go wrong, I'm happy to pay a lot more in the hopes that it would mean a reduced likelihood of things going poorly. Sixty dollars is definitely a fair price for a cut that doesn't go poorly; i.e., is going to rock me. And so it had better rock me.

Jamie cut my hair today, and new in town; I was nervous. I didn't know what I could expect here. Is 60 dollars a lot here? Maybe that's not a lot here. I don't know.  Jamie is absolutely adorable, sweet, with enviable red hair and endearing green converse. I came with pictures off the internet that I could point to instead of trying to tell her what I wanted, because, really: I don't speak stylist (although I would like to). I also had my old stylist write down what she was doing when she cut my hair (I have no idea what it says, because I don't speak stylist). She definitely delivered; I am very very happy with my hair: chin length, layers, wispy, disconnected parts, broken up around the face, took a lot of the weight out. not too mainstream, but not too hipster.

That's what I was hoping to drop around 60 dollars on, which hurt to do, because IN THIS ECONOMY!!! letting any dollar go ain't fun, but neither is having suck hair, or impacted wisdom teeth, etc. Anyway. JAMIE ROCKS. SHE DELIVERS.

My favorite part? It was 35 dollars.

Thank you, Yelp, for inspiring me to go here. I had a fantastic cut from Jamie. It was very reasonable and she took the extra time to make my hair wavy and pretty for my fiance's birthday party that night. When she washed my hair it was pretty much the most relaxing thing ever. No rushing, even though it was a Friday afternoon.

The salon was bustling, but not cramped. There were patrons of all ages and both genders here.

Previously, I had only been getting my hair cut during trips home to New York. I am looking forward to getting my hair cut locally now!

Mia is awesome! She did an amazing job with my boring haircolor and my nasty split ends. I came out a very happy person.

The hair color I had when going in was a reddish brunette, and now I have a nice deep blonde with some cute highlights throughout. I wanted to go back to blonde and Mia did a perfect job of taking me back there, no problems.

I didn't do a drastic cut, I'm trying to grow my hair out, but she gave a nice trim to get rid of those nasty split ends and such. I will definitely be going back in two months.

Yelp, you've done it again. Your collective community has once again helped me solve a debacle of where to go for a necessary service, and your reviews did not lie! Urban Betty is great!

Despite being a little "froo froo" looking, the salon itself is top-notch. It's on the second floor (look for their Chronicle Best of Austin award banner and head up the stairs behind it) with great big windows overlooking a lot of trees, and that combined with the bright birch wood everywhere gives you the distinct impression you're in some sort of "Girls Only" tree house to get your hair done and your nails painted all sparkly. Well, except that I DID see one guy getting his hair cut...

Anyway, the other great part of Urban Betty is that they employ numerous stylists with ranging skill/experience levels and then charge on a sliding scale based on that level. (For example, the head stylist and founder is almost impossible to book and charges $75 for a basic cut while their newer stylists only charge $35.) You can also look at galleries of previous cuts and happy customers to see which ones may have more experience with the kinds of cuts and coloring that you're looking for. Their website is definitely a great resource, and you can even book appointments on it!

I settled on Jamie (an East Texas girl like myself), and she was fantastic. VERY talkative (which I like - I always worry that I need to come up with interesting conversation, so it's nice to have a stylist who talks to ME for a change), very friendly, and really paid attention to what I said I wanted to be done.  *** NOTE***: Jamie gets Extra-Super Brownie Points because I HAVE THE THICKEST HAIR KNOWN TO MANKIND. I'm not kidding. It's like I'm a sheep or something, the trimmings of my hair could be fashioned into a coat for the arctic tundra. It is EXTREMELY important that whoever cuts my hair understands this and appropriately cuts and layers my hair so that I don't end up with a hard-edged triangular shape growing from my scalp. Jamie. Understands. Thick. Hair. When she was finished it was like my head had lost 10 lbs and my hair was normal volume!! YES!!!

I will definitely be returning to Urban Betty. It's highly convenient, great stylists, and it all comes at fantastic prices.

I went here for the first time about a week and a half ago. To be fair, I wanted to wait and see what my hair would look and feel like for a bit before I gave a verdict. Here it is:

Pros:
Friendly staff
Nice decor
Online appointments!!!!-- this is a big reason that drew me here.
Great prices (too good to be true?)

Cons: (in dialogue format):

Me: "I'd like something along these lines (shows photos)"

Stylist:  "well your hair won't lend itself well to this, I'm afraid I'll make you look motherly".

Me: "Ok, not so surprising, I know thick hair is hard to cut properly. Well, can you do some variation of this that would work? It doesn't have to look exactly like the photo."

Stylist: (More than halfway into my haircut when it becomes apparent that she cant just texturize herself out of the mess that's created)  "I don't really DO short haircuts".

Me: (aaack!)

I should add that the stylist was running behind schedule and had another client waiting, which is why she rushed through the end of my haircut, and why I had to remind her to cut my bangs (she would have probably left them untouched had I not said something.)

Almost two weeks later, my "bob" looks like a wig because the stylist did not know how to cut really thick hair. I am not exaggerating, and I did not cry over this because in the end, it's just hair. The irony is that I will need to shell out again to get the haircut I originally wanted.

CONCLUSION: If you have easy hair to style and cut, I'm sure this is a good place to go. If you present an unusual case, I'd beware. I think places can get over-hyped, and I was happier going to Pink Salon even if they were pricey because they had consistently good results. At this stage I'll end up paying more than at Pink to get my hair fixed.

I had my hair cut last week by Veronica and loved it!  I didn't have to wait for the appointment at all...she was ready as soon as I got there. Veronica was so friendly and helpful with my indecision over what kind of cut to get.  A week later and I am still very happy with her recommendations.   She also suggested a few products which I love.

Seriously, best salon experience I've ever had.  I am a newbie in Austin, and just moved here from NYC.  I was so totally over snooty, over-priced New York salons, and couldn't wait to try Urban Betty because of its amazing YELP reviews.  It absolutely lived up to my expecations.

When I called to schedule my appointment, I requested someone with expertise with curly haired ladies and got matched with Veronica.  She is AMAZING...my color has honestly never looked better, she gives a divine head massage, and my blow-out looked great for days.  The salon itself had a great vibe, really laid-back, everyone was friendly, AND you can have a beer while you get you're hairs cut...does it get any better than that???  I think not.

I had to find a new stylist because mine moved to Israel, and despite my inclination to follow him, I opted to try Urban Betty instead.  I made an appointment with Jaime based on positive yelp reviews, and I'm happy to say I am thrilled with my haircut.  I just told her to "make it cuter" and she definitely did.  She knows what she is doing and I'll be back.

i've been trying to find a regular stylist in austin for something like 6 years now. i've been to urban betty twice so far and had good experiences both times with Veronica.

a couple things to know:
1. check the website for stylist rates; you can pick based on the stylist's experience or the price you want to pay.
2. they offer discounts for not only students, but also teachers and school district employees! woo-hoo!

i just wish i didn't have to drive all the way into downtown austin to cut my hair... but that's not their fault!

Veronica does my highlights and they are perfect every time.   She has the ability to do really fine color so that it blends in with your hair as it grows out.    Veronica really wants her customers to be happy and she does everything to make sure that happens.   The atmosphere at Urban Betty's is very relaxed.  They are very happy to tell you about the excellent products they use, but don't  pressure you to purchase them.

I've been to a few stylists in the Austin area since moving here a couple of years ago, all with disappointing results, because of the lack of professionalism, and in one case, friendliness.  Then one lucky day, a friend of mine recommended Mia at Urban Betty.  She just recently cut my hair to donate to Locks of Love, and I have had nothing but compliments.  She, and the rest of the employees at Urban Betty, are always very professional, and being able to schedule an appointment on line is a bonus.

Went to MIA for the first time yesterday. She's adorable and did a WONDERFUL job on my hair! I got full highlights (my hair is brown and I like it blond) and a cut. The color looks SO GOOD... even my boyfriend said "Wow, I love your hair, this new girl does the best job." The cut is great- my bangs look better and the layers look so good.
I definitely recommend Mia!
Citysearch has a coupon for 20% off all services for first time customers.
The cost of my visit (with discount) was:
$120 for full highlights and cut
+$20 tip

$140
completely worth it.

I have only had the services of one stylist at Urban Betty -- so this review is really for her.

Sarah is an awesome stylist! I have been going to her for years.  I have followed her from salon to salon.  The quality of work she does is well worth the price (125 for a cut and color).  Every time I leave her chair I feel like a million bucks.

When I first started going to Sarah, I had crazy, frizzy, abused, bleached blond hair (that I did myself). I wanted it straight.  I wanted a more professional look.  It took quite a lot of time and effort, but my hair is now awesome.

Sarah  straightens my hair once a year with the Japanese (Yuko-Phiten
thermal reconditioning) method.  If you have curly, frizzy, uncontrollable hair and have considered straightening...go to Sarah  she will hook you up.  You will not belive the difference this treatment makes.  Be forewarned though Japanese hair straitening takes a looong time.  I have very thick long hair, so it takes almost 6 hours..and at $100/hour it is quite pricey. However,  I would not care if it cost 4x that much..I would still get it done..totally worth it.

Sarah also does a fabulous job on cut/color.  I have had my hair every color from bleached blonde, black, pink, to all shades of red (at the same time).  For some time I was a normal blond color, but recently Sarah did a super job of getting my hair to a really cool red color (with awesome bangs) that is ok for the office but edgy at the same time.  She also gives free bang trims :)

Sarah is very accommodating.  I usually have a very hectic work schedule...and she has fit me in at all kinds of crazy times.  Urban Betty also has WIFI so while I'm processing I can keep my nose to the grindstone.

I went to Urban Betty for the first time this weekend. Jamie was so great, she came in late on a Friday to color my hair, and she did an amazing job! The color came out perfect, exactly what I wanted for a great price.
The space is adorable, laid-back, and everyone is very friendly. I am definitely coming to Urban Betty for all my cuts and colors from now on!

I came her after reading such amazingly great reviews on Yelp.  I obviously came in with high expectations and they were completely met.  I was very happy with my stylist, Mia.  She knew how to work with my cursed head full of hair.  She was sweet, attentive and FAST.  My appointment was at 3:30 for a partial highlight and cut.  I was out by 5:30.  That is just plain unheard of with my hair.  She even did the old school styling thing and left the flat iron off and used the blow dryer to style. The highlights were exactly what I wanted and the cut was perfect. I already scheduled my next visit. Oh and I purchased the funkiest, retro, clip on, giant silver ball earrings for $5.  When you check out they give you a "prescription" with recommendations for the best kind of hair products custom tailored. There was no hard sell what so ever. I also appreciated the free samples of product!

Funny that I was so afraid to get my hair done by anyone but my "Donald" back home. My hair was looking pretty ragged, though  - not much risk when it was looking so sorry. But, Donald is such a talented colorist AND stylist. He always seemed to read my mind (even though our views were miles apart) - I could literally sit down in his chair and say "make me pretty" and my hair always turned out great. Plus, the conversation was histerical - witty and blunt. I loved it.

So, I not only braved my first hair coloring and cut in Austin, but my first solo drive into the city from SW Austin. I'm so glad my husband and I took a practice run into Urban Betty's last week, because it is not terribly easy find. Very simple to get there - not far off MoPac - but you really have to look for it. Great parking, which is important, and a very cute setting.

I really liked my color and cut. I'm still a little breathless over the cost. I've never paid for a cut + color when the color is 120+. The cut and style has always been included with the color. I guess I'm not in "Kansas" any more. Is that pretty common in Austin? Probably.

So, was the color, cut and style worth the $170 + tip that I paid? mmmmm.....time will tell. I really loved Mia, and appreciated her assistant as well. They were full of great Austin "finds" for everything from food to beaches, but I was sad that they didn't write them down for me as they mentioned they would, but they are so kind and conversational. They're also booked up pretty full - so you know they're great.

My recommendation: jump in with both feet if you want great color and a cut that works, bring your debit card, and when your driving there for the first time, keep your eyes peeled for the building address - it is right across the street from the Seton Hospital. When you get to the parking lot,  the shop is up the stairs to the left (behind another building - the only sign is outside and downstairs). I hear the cinammon rolls at the nearby coffee shop are to die for, too (but I couldn't find it when I came out of the building....bummer.....maybe next time).

As good as it gets, indeed.  Add me to the list of die hard Urban Betty fans.  My first visit was this past week with Sarah, who is AWESOME, easy going, fun to talk to, and definitely knows exactly what she's doing!  I walked in with over processed blond hair and walked out with silky, smooth dark brownish/red locks.  It was a huge change, but Sarah was all over it and picked a great color for my skin tone.  I have gotten SO many compliments (and free drinks!) since this haircut and color.  Sarah is great also because she will work with your schedule and do evening appointments (I work full-time and no one else could fit me in after work hours).  There is a 20% coupon for first time visitors on Citysearch.  Go to Urban Betty.  Now!

As most of you probably know, once you find a good stylist, it's really difficult to get the courage to find a new one. With this in mind, when I moved to Austin, I scoured yelp and Urban Betty made the cut. The salon itself is super cute. I'd say it's a mix of anthropologie and shabby chic. I went in for my first cut with Mia a couple months ago and she did an awesome job. I also love that she only uses the blow dryer when she dries and styles the hair (no flat iron). I have thick, naturally curly/wavy hair, so I was highly impressed that she was able to do that and make it look so good. Wouldn't it be nice if I could take her hands home with me to fix it like that every morning? Oh, and her assistant, Sierra, is very good as well. I am going to back in in a couple of weeks, and I can't wait.

After being in Austin for almost a year I started looking around for a place to get my hair cut. I heard great things about Urban Betty so I gave it a shot. Megan did an amazing job on my hair. I basically just gave her a length I didn't want to be shorter than and she did the rest. She was so nice and helpful. Urban Betty may seem a little pricey, but I think its worth it for a great haircut and style. I loved my new hair cut so much that I rescheduled my next cut as I paid that day.

What a fun salon tucked away in a shopping center. They have funky jewelry that frames the cash register along with awesome products that the stylists will undoubtedly use in your hair.

Veronica is amazing. I've been going to her for almost 2 years - my longest stylist relationship ever. She listens and she's pretty awesome at what she does. She does amazing color too. My hair has never been (or looked) happier.

My suggestion would be to book as soon as you can. She's pretty busy (a testament to her skills) so even if you think you'll need a cut in a month, book it now. You won't be sorry.

When I moved to Austin just over a year ago, a friend of mine did some research on salons and then recommended Urban Betty. I decided to take a risk - just like moving here, and picked Liza off the website.  I love the salon. I love the atmosphere. I love Liza! She is a fantastic stylist and definitely knows her stuff. She is talented and I know her business will continue to boom! I had my first ever highlighting job, and I'm 45, and she walked me through the whole thing and I have to say - extremely pleased with the results. (I am returning to California this month - however have one last appointment with Liza. Wish she would move west!)  - Thanks Liza for everything!

Jaime is the BEST hair dresser and colorist there is! Believe me... I had been a client of my sister, who is also a hair dresser for years. And consistently been unhappy with creativity or lack there of, her attitude about what SHE wanted to do with my hair... not me, and her lack of knowledge. I had heard that Urban Betty was one of if not the best salon in town. I decided to fire my sister as my hair stylist and finally see someone knew. I picked Jaime from her profile online... she oozes creativity, warmth and patience. Nervously, I went to her that first time and she did something my sister never did... sit down with me and listen to what MY goals and desires were for my hair. And she has been doing exactly that ever since. The last three times I went to see her I requested something totally different from the previous time, and each time she said it was no problem, had a can-do attitude, and each time my hair was a knock-out! She is such a kind person, easy to connect to, and on top of today's latest techniques. I really appreciate her work, she has transformed the way I see myself with, finally, a hair cut and color I can be proud of... that's totally me, executed perfectly by Jaime! Believe me, it took some guts to cut the cord between me and my sister as my stylist, but... if anyone out there is staying in a stylist relationship with someone you feel "obligated" to, all I can say is get out! It is worth it if you're not 100% happy. And 100% happy is what Jaime will make you feel!

Great low-key and fun atmosphere, no hard sales pitch, just a wonderful haircut and some killer color.

Ask for Megan, a level-headed, smart, easy-going person - who, luckily, also has mad skills in the hair area.

Asked her what she called the color of her own hair, and she said her mom calls it "Lit Match."  Funny!

Finding a hairdresser when you move somewhere new is always a pain BUT, necessary task.  I think I tried at least 4 in just over a year before I tried Urban Betty.  I was recommended it and have been eternally grateful ever since.

I go to Megan (now also a good friend) who is great at cutting, coloring and waxing of the eye brows - how multi-talented is that?!

You can choose your beverage; beer, wine, sodas and you are always made to feel welcome.  The interior is really homely too, nothing too stuffy and they have a good selection of hair products on sale too.

Little touches like yummy smelling burning candle next to where you sit pleases me.  It doesn't take much, I know.

Needing a  colorist after having new-copper penny colored and then bimbo blond  hair from a former stylist( I use the tem loosely), I fought down the fear and went to Urban Betty based on the reviews on this site.
After looking at the portfolio of photos of the different stylists' work , I chose Mia who rescued my tortured locks. I had booked a full highlight but she suggested a partial as a better option for what I wanted to accomplish. Fine by me- less time and money. Results- the color is better than any I have ever had and without a lot of drama or fuss.
I really like the vibe here- no attitude, low- key. very friendly and comfortable, but professional .I really don't like hipper -than- thou trendy places and I did not get that feel here.
The website is super handy. You can choose a stylist, see the prices for services and book appointments right on line. There was absolutely no product hard sell (Yayy!!!) and they give you free samples of hair products - though I left mine at the counter :-(.
This salon deserves it's success. Just know you will have to book about 2 weeks in advance. See you there!

When I first moved to Austin 6 months ago, I was recommended to try Urban Betty by my always-gorgeous-hair friend. She has been going to Chele, the owner of Urban Betty, for a long time and continues to be a great fan of her.

I went there for a haircut, the service was great! They will make you a cup of hot tea if you need one. Lovely interior decor and I wish I can take one of those retro barber chair home. Chele was very friendly and professional but somehow I don't think I like the cut she gave me. It bothers me for couple of months and I decided to try another stylist.

The haircut costs me $70 and I just thought it wasn't that great. My gf then told me that she is better in coloring... Urban Betty is great but I tried Jackson ruiz and I think I like that place better.

I found Urban Betty here on yelp and decided to make an appointment  based on the many positive reviews and glad I went for it. I have been skeptical about finding a skilled, yet affordable stylist here in Austin and that is exactly what I got. I had some particular needs and Jamie and I were on the same page as to what I was looking for. I love my haircut and will definitely be coming back! I also appreciate Urban Betty's webpage, which profiles each stylists specialty and real photos of clients' hairstyles. Thanks Urban Betty!

I love this place, located upstairs in a cool little mall just off N. Lamar. Megan is my stylist and colorist, and her work is absolutely outstanding. She's creative, precise, and just such a nice person to spend time with.  The salon is comfortable, carries excellent products including Bumble & Bumble and Pureology, AND you can have a beer or vino while you are transformed from bad hair to most excellent hair.

I've lived in Seattle, LA, and Philly, so I have a fairly good sense of how daunting some of these uber-hip urban salons can be.  Rest easy.  Everyone I've met at Urban Betty  is pleasant and they'll make sure you never feel as if you're the (choose one): oldest, youngest, fattest, ugliest, most un-hip person ever to walk in their door.  Quite the opposite, so there's a very nice mix of clientele and interesting people. Prices are right in line with what you've been paying at any other higher-end salon here in Austin, and varies by the experience level of the stylist. Check their website for further detail.

Parking in the 26 Doors shopping center is a bit challenging during lunch hour (Santa Rita's is here), but I've never not found a spot. Since most of us do get our hair cut and/or highlighted, colored, etc., wouldn't you rather have someone nice wielding those sharp scissors so close to your ears? And in a comfortable place? With a cool somthin' somthin' in your hand?  Hmmm?

Wow!  I went in yesterday for a cut and partial highlight with Sierra.  What I left with was much more.  The uplifting conversation was desperately needed as I am a stay-at-home mom with little opportunity to socialize.  Sierra gave me a fantastic cut with very little helpful information on my part, and the color was spot on!  Exactly what I was wanting.  I will definitely be back!  Many thanks, Sierra!

They really need to change the name of this place to something more androgynous; Urban Betty is great for men, too. Liza does a superb job of minimizing the prominence of a, uh, ever-so-slightly receding hairline (i.e. full-on male pattern baldness that's conspiring to make me look like Ron Howard), and does so without charging ridiculously high fees for the privilege.

I'm pretty darn picky about my hair. I always have a distinct vision in my head of what I want, but am not always able to translate that into the English language.
Somehow Veronica manages to translate for me, with amazing accuracy. And with her own added creativity thrown in. (But she definitely errs on the side of caution.)
I go to her for both color/highlights and cut, and I've never been disappointed. She refuses to use bleach or do highlights if your hair isn't ready for it, and is careful not to over-do it. She is pro-healthy hair over having it come out looking good for just that day or week, regardless of the consequences.
To boot, she's fun, cute and very personable. Chatty without being annoying. And her prices are very reasonable.
Everyone there is independent (I believe) so the prices and services vary. But they all seem very hip, personable, and competent. I've seen nothing but great hair walk out of there.
Very fun interior and location - almost gives the feel of being in a treehouse when you're inside.

Researching Urban Betty paid off!  Just moved to Austin and my stylist from my old salon did research and suggested I go to Urban Betty based upon their City Search ranking of #1 salon in 2007.  The Yelp reviews were positive, and the salon's website was very helpful in choosing a stylist.  So, off I ventured, hopeful but nervous.

I have very long, thick, curly hair and am totally picky about color/foils/cut (have had way too many bad experiences at even the best/most expensive salons).  Veronica was outstanding and a partial foil/cut of the exact quality was $125 vs. the $360 (!) I paid before I moved here (prices may become slightly higher at some point).  My old stylist sent along my formulas and Veronica was happy to see that he did exactly what she would have done, using all the same high quality products that she does.  To me, this spoke very highly of her experience.

The atmosphere is very welcoming, on the funky side but not in the way that might make you uncomfortable if you yourself aren't that funky (moi).  Veronica was very personable and all the stylists there seemed nice and there was no attitude anywhere.  Little touches like giving you a footstool while you are hanging back over the sink for 10 minutes waiting for a process to take were really nice.

They just set up a system where you can book appts. online.

5 stars all around!

Amazing Liza to the rescue. I adore this place. Its so cute! I have been visiting this place for about 2 maybe going on 3 years. I always enjoy my visit. The staff is friendly and I always end up with the coolest hair cut. Liza is my hairstylist and I adore her for that. A great place to get pampered. Great location, nice clean salon, and some of the cutest accessories ever.  Much love to Urban Betty! ;)

I'd been trying to find a good salon for about 2 years since leaving my salon in Dallas. I finally found one that I liked completely. I had gone to Aziz first, and they destroyed my hair color (think big chunky red streaks as opposed to natural blondish highlights requested). Then I went to Bradz for a while, but it was not only too expensive but the stylist did not ask what type of cut I wanted before he started going to town with the scissors. Also, a cut and partial haircut took about 3 hours- a bit too long to sit in a salon in my opinion.
I read about Urban Betty and decided to give it the old college try. I was nervous after the Aziz debacle. My color was finally in good shape again. I booked an appointment with Mia. When I got there I only waited about 5 minutes (and I was about 15 minutes early) before being ushered to the chair. She listened to what I wanted out of my color and cut, and began her magic. She was personable and I can say that I enjoyed spending time in the chair. When she moved me to process my color they offered me a complementary glass of wine- nice touch!
After spending a little less than 2 hours at the salon, my hair was done and beautiful. The bill was not cheap, but it was less expensive than other salons that I had been to recently. I will certainly be going back.

My gorgeousness is fully due to the wonderful work of Megan at Urban Betty. She's been doing my hair for three years now - maybe longer, come to think of it - and I so trust her that I don't even suggest what my haircuts should look like - I give her an idea of what I want to express (more glamorous, more professional, more fresh and young, etc) and she somehow makes it happen, while ensuring that it's easy to style and perfect for my shape and hair texture.  She's followed me from short to long to medium-length, and it's always fantastic.

Thanks to other yelpers I decided to try urban betty and I'm really glad I did. Veronica was so helpful and listened to all my nebulous ideas of what i wanted and gave me a great haircut. I'm rarely satisfied with my haircuts and end up putting my hair up in a ponytail, but this time, I wore my hair down the whole day and will continue doing so. The interior decor is awesome with whitewashed ceilings and panels and vintage furniture.  Loved the atmosphere and products they used in my hair. Great experience.
