We love this friendly store! We stop in here as often as possible because the staff is always welcoming, and they give Zoe treats even if we're just passing through.

Urban Beast carries high quality food and treats, but also has some edgier items for the pampered pooch. On a recent visit Zoe modeled a lovely feather boa that worked well with her coloring, and she tested the ultimate in modern kennels.  It was fun for both of us to play with those fancy things.  This is a great place for urban beasts of all sorts, including their owners...

I'm making my way through all the boutique pet stores right now in order to make up moving to my new puppy. She's a little anxious and I'm a little overindulgent.

Urban Beast had always caught my eye when at REI but I didn't want to pop in there without having a dog first, it would have been just too pathetic. So today on the way home from some morning meetings, I found my way into UB with my white fluff ball clutched in my arms.

Honestly this is a cute place but I didn't see anything I wanted! Which is pretty ridiculous since I've been waiting to get a dog since I was 13. I thought I would go crazy in there after reading all the good reviews but it was really underwhelming.

If you're looking for a trendy dog bag or luggage this is a good place to go or if you're interested in $155 hanging food bowls UB is your mother ship. Unfortunately I was looking for fun organic toys, jackets and food dishes that aren't more than my monthly car payment and since those things were no where to be found at UB, I think I'll stay on planet earth. The ladies behind the counter were nice but distant and since the selection of merchandise was very limited, I was in and out in five minutes.

I promised the fur ball that we would check out some other places before I lose my hope in boutique pet stores entirely.

4 stars for the shop.
1 star for the shopping experience.

I like it in here a lot and my kitty loves the merch!

The trouble with Urban Beast is that every time that I'm trying to look at the merchandise the owner starts talking to me.........making it, oh, I dunno...hard to shop?!?   Her voice is v. loud, drains my energy. Nice lady, right? Right! But then there's the input that comes in as she overhears you talking to your S.O.

My tip is to go to Urban Beast, and limit convo from the very first get-go so that you aren't left trying to backpedal out of small talking like it's a cocktail party. Who can shop or concentrate at a cocktail party? Not moi.  :)

CALLING ALL SHOPKEEPERS: let your customers shop, be available to answer questions and that's it. They will spend more money. I promise.

I love Urban Beast!  It's nice b/c they have many unique, modern products that I have never seen anywhere before.  The owner is so friendly and helpful in recommending products for both my dog and cat.  Every time I stop in she puts me in a great mood: always upbeat, friendly and FULL of great knowledge!

This store was fun.  We ducked in just to check it out, and although we didn't end up buying anything, I still made out with a free sample of dog treats to bring my family's dog when I go visit next. :) They have adorable pet things here: collars, leashes, toys (hamburgers! mice! squishy balls! other exciting cat-and-dog things!), but they're not all especially cheap.  However, most of the items are of slightly higher quality and are super cute.

They also have a lot of stuff from High Maintenance Bitch, which I never got a chance to check out while it was still in Wallingford.  If you've got a pampered pooch, this is the place to buy all the fancy accessories.  This includes nail polish - yes, there is such a thing as nail polish that is just for dogs.  I was sad, too, because it was a really cute color and I wanted  it for myself!

Since we've had a kid, our poor pooch is no longer "top dog". This is the kind of place we would have spent way too much $$, pre-kid. However, now I just go in & look, comment on all the cute stuff, then walk down & spend too much $$ at Tottini.

They have a great selection of mostly dog (some cat) toys, beds, clothing, collars (we call it her "necklace"), leashes, dishes, etc...all are cool modern style things that you wouldn't mind people actually seeing in your house.

It is a great store to buy things for your fur-kids, or gifts for a friend who loves his/her pet(s) like family.  And they usually give you free little samples of treats for dogs and/or kitties.

This store is totally cute.  The staff is really friendly and they have totally interesting merchandise.  It is a bit over priced but everything I purchase there my cats are completely infatuated with.  They have high quality catnip inside the toys which can sometimes be difficult to find, and they have treats that make my cats ransack my bag.  Overall, my cats think this place is heaven, so I will have to agree with them.

We love Urban Beast! I always stop here first to find cool sweaters, leashes and collars for our small dog. Love the Red Dingo line they carry. The staff is great, and passionate about the pooches and always has helpful advice for my questions. I love that they carry Acana dog food and are knowledgeable about the food and treats they carry. And my dog is addicted to those squeeky dino tails and balls!

I love the name!  Went in just to check it out on my way down to Whole Foods, and found so many fun, tasty things little Miss Bluebell absolutely had to have.  There is a good selection of wheat-free, all-meat treats by the bulk, and a glass case of doggie pastries made with human grade ingredients including frosting and sprinkles.  I asked the gal helping me if she'd tasted them, and she said yes, but carob's not her thing.  So of course I had to taste the cookie I got... and it was not bad!  No wonder my little urban beast loved it so much.  She even learned to stand up and turn around for it!

We camp and tailgate quite a bit, and our small dog gets cold but loves to be outside and always to "come with."  She only had a kind of crappy cotton sweater, and as all outdoorsy people know, "cotton kills."  (This might not apply to dogs, but I'm not taking any chances)  Having been reared by a woman who works for REI and taught me the 10 essentials in kindergarten, I couldn't continue dressing my pup this way for excursions.  I got her a great little parka/pullover at Urban Beast thats a little techy and a lot warm.  I never wanted to be one of those people who dresses their dog, but she LIKES it.  I swear!

This place is great! Super cute dog/cat toys, good selection of foods, VERY friendly staff. We wandered in after getting coffee next door, and were nicely surprised.

We have two cats, and it was fun to look around, even though the only thing we ended up getting was a cute t-shirt they had for moi.

The women working were completely awesome, and so so friendly. Sometimes in Seattle this can be hard to come by and we were still talking about this place and the staff later that day. They have punch cards for purchases, and they gave us free kitty treats (always a bonus).

We plan on getting a dog in the future, and I can already tell you we will be coming in more often. A lot more often.

Wowsa! A pet store with style. Most of their products are reasonably priced, with only a few venturing into the "are you kidding me!?!" category. The pet bowls, leashes, beds etc are fabulous.

I'll still be purchasing my granola-crunchy pet food from Mud Bay, but I will be coming here for all other pet accessories.

Your pet wants to be stylish, you don't want all the other pets to look at  your pet and say "Your momma dresses you funny!" It could leave scars.

Do the right thing and outfit your pets at Urban Beast.

I love Urban Beast. If I had a store it would look exactly like UB. I have to be completely honest here though and say that I am biased because it is my (decopaw) art that is hanging on the walls, but when I heard about store owner Katie's concept and then saw it in person I was blown away. I truly feel like a kid in a candy store when I go in there to shop for products for my dog Fergie. It's impossible for me to spend less than 30 minutes in the store, after shopping and talking business and planning events, etc.

Katie and her staff spend a great deal of time researching the best pet products and put thought into each and every one they sell. Julie is incredibly knowledgeable about food and is excellent to talk to if your pup or cat is having food issues. They will even custom order bags of food for you and call you when they arrive. IMO, Urban Beast has every single thing you would want in an outstanding pet supply store. And I can't wait to see their new website when it's done! :-)

Totally awesome.  Really fun store.
Decent prices, higher end of decent but I can splurge on a ton of toys and treats and get out spending around $30...
They have a really sexy litter box I have my eye on.  It's straight out of The Jetsons, even has a scoop holder on the back.

Only thing that keeps it from a 5 in my book:
More dog stuff than cat stuff :( but that's how it usually is.

What a great name for a store - Urban Beast.  The staff (and owners) are so helpful and are super helpful!  I've boughten a few things here and each time I get something, they always throw in something for free.  Last time it was dried salmon that the cats dug out of the bag and onto the floor... bad kitties!!

Their prices are a bit on the high side, but hey, it is in the up and coming South Lake Union/ Cascadia neighborhood.  They sell the same pet food that I get at Mud Bay, but at a much higher price.  But this store I would go for treats and fun stuff.  I wish I had a dog, and I'd get 'em a jacket here, too!

I have been looking all over Seattle for a nice sweater for my little Mia. Done petco/petsmart and found their stuff just not right for her.

Came a pond Urban Beast while apartment shopping and I am glad I did. It's a really cool store with everything that you would want for your pet. Was extremely impressed with everything they had in there.

Found exactly what I was looking for and the sweater was even priced right. Even the owner and her friend "the helper" were great people. They even threw in some dried salmon doggy snacks for Mia. Call me strange if you like, I even tasted one and they were pretty good. Don't get me wrong I don't usually eat or try doggy snacks but I was dared too. Honestly they tasted pretty good and Mia loved them. Well we will definitely be back to Urban Beast because Mia likes to still in style.

I love the aesthetic of Urban Beast, but my first shopping experience there was disappointing. Their sweater stock was abysmal (I realize it's off-season, but still!) and the guy who was helping me didn't seem to know the merchandise ("Is this wool?" "Uh....").

Even odder, they had a front-n-center display of dog harnesses -- but were sold out in ALL colors in size small and couldn't give me an exact date of when they'd be expected back in. If you're going to feature a product at the front of the store, it seems like you'd want to have it well stocked or have a clear idea of when stock will be coming in.

I'll definitely give Urban Beast another shot since what they have in stock is wonderful and I love the design aesthetic of most of the products ... but can't deny that my first foray wasn't great.

OK. Again. My dog pees himself in every pet store and I can't figure out why.  I really think it's the wide range of puppy sweaters.  So I purchased a few items here and then the next day drove to Mud Bay where the same dog toys are about half as much.
I'd minus 1 star for ripping me off but it IS in an upandcoming neighborhood so I understand that they may want to keep the strays out.
But minus 2 stars for not telling me the expensive leash was the wrong match with the teensy dog harness AND not giving me 15% off the leash combo.  I gave it to my friend's dog; she's about 60 lbs.  My dog is 5 lbs.  Do you know how ridiculous he looked being lead around with a 1 inch wide, 8 ft leash with a 1/4 inch harness?  Granted, I was the dumb consumer who can't say no! to ma chien, but couldn't you have said something?  Maybe like - um, is this leash a gift to a 50 lb dog bc there is really no need to have such a gigantic leash for your puppy, unless he has developmental problems?
thanks a lot..  there goes another $40 down the drain.

Popped over here after doing some shopping at REI. Super handy! Grabbed a dog coat for Cady and met Katie, the owner, who could not have been nicer. She even gave us some food samples since our Cady's not digging her food too much. Our cats went without gifts not that there weren't many to choose from for canines and felines alike. Super cute pet bowls with graphics on them, the afore-mentioned sweaters ... and you know what, Chris tasted the dog treats too (even though he didn't know it was salmon). When you love your dog this much, you taste the treats (though not for me, thanks). We can't wait to go back and will probably get our next bag of food there after our taste-testing at home.

I thought I knew most cool dog stuff but was way wrong.  This store has so many new items with so much style.  There is no reason my best friend has to forego style just cause he has fur! (Ok hair cause that is his breed but still!)   They were super nice as we breezed in at five minutes till closing.  The chick there was way patient, thankfully, as we had to buy a ton of stuff since we are just visiting and btw how cool are those pliable travel bowls?  I am tempted to replace my McCoy bowls at home (nah)  Anyway.....wonderful treats and food, cool stylish accessories for your dog.

This store is not only eye candy for me, but my puppy could hardly contain himself upon our visits.  Okay so they do spoil him with some ot their yummy healthy treats which he doesn't forget easily!  They are knowledgeable and helpful and you can be certain they carry top quality products that incorporate your pets into your life in a tasteful way.  No tacky chotchkies here, even the toys are cool!  It's been too long since I've made it downtown, but this will give me reason fo plan a little puppy fieldtrip!  Love this store!

Kudos! A stylized pet store with clothes, treats and toys I haven't found anywhere else. Urban Beast's monthly socials are great way to meet other pet lovers. You get a chance to check out the latest beds, clothes and products while enjoying a glass of wine and tapas- and don't forget to sign up for the free raffle. If you didn't buy that retro modern cat scratcher, you may win it.  Your pet will leave spoiled with the amount of complimentary treats they get at the store.  And don't forget your punch card-get 10 stamps and save $10 off of your next purchase. If you don't own a pet, spending some time at Urban Beast will change your mind.

Not cheap, but they have a unique selection of attractive and well-designed pet products.   Some are of the cute-but-useless variety (e.g. dog sweaters) but there are also many practical items, like dog crates, litter boxes, food bowls, toys, etc... all with a clean, modern aesthetic that is very pleasing to the eye.  I bought a cute tie-silk collar for the kittycat and some frozen marrow bones for the pupster.  I did notice that they don't seem to have a large selection of foods, but I will definitely be back for accessories and toys!   This is a cat and dog store only; they don't stock supplies for birds, fish, or other critters.

such a sweet shop with an impressive range of well designed, beautiful, thoughtful pet supplies and accessories. wide price range so there is something for everyone...and even the lower priced items are unique and cute. i got a couple of cat toys i've never seen elsewhere, (that my cats loved) and the (owner?) was super helpful finding me the  best birthday toy for a friend's sausage dog...really knowing the breed and the type of toy that would last. the place even smells great...like peppermint aromatherapy (fresh shipment of peppermint dog toys seemed to be the reason today).
