Best place for dogs to run, and socialize. Plenty of room to run around, the hills are great for my two huskies to explore and get tired. When we found this place we were so excited to come by as often as possible even though we live in Daly City. There's no other parks that I have visited that are as great as this one. We have tried a few. It's closed on Wednesdays for maintenance.
Dogs and dog owners are nicer in this park
My dogs know when we are headed here they smell it in the air they are always happy to stop by and explore.
I love that for the most part dog owners are actually watching their dogs and clean up after them. Rarely do I see poop around.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - L A.San Francisco, CA032Nov 13, 2023
Great place to bring your dog to for a good run around. Be ready to give them a bath afterwards! A dirty dog is a happy dog :)

I have never been to this dog park before, and one of my dogs, who's 10 years old is rather picky about playing with other dogs at the park. Lol he loved the outdoor setting of this park and the trail wrapping around and up the Fenceline! I was ecstatic to see him run and jump/strategically walk up the side of the mountain as I was inspecting the area. Lol my other husky was perfectly fine playing in the grassy area with other dogs while my adventurous husky loved running up and down the hillside! Lol I will definitely bring my dogs back to this park!!!

Great dog park in the heart of the City. Huge real grass lawn (former baseball field), with large rock hill for the inquisitive ones, completely cyclone fenced so they can't escape.
The people and dogs there are generally nice and I've never seen a dog fight. Our corgi loves to run and chase the dogs who are fetching balls, they don't seem to mind.
There are two water faucet areas, several benches and picnic tables, about a dozen plastic chairs, many shade and sun areas.
Good double gate in, with lots of garbage cans. Closed on Wednesdays for cleanup.
Decent parking on the side street, with a children's playground down the hill. Douglas overlooks Noe Valley and gets nice sunny weather, and it's not too windy. Great spot for pups!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ken S.San Francisco, CA73150180Aug 14, 2022
Upper Douglass is a unique, picturesque dog park with a wide open field to let the dogs play and sweeping views of the day in downtown San Francisco. Back in the early 1900s it was a rock quarry and was converted into a park in the 1930s. The entire space is fenced in with a double gate at the entry to ensure the pups don't run away. There is also a nice short ridge hike along the upper portion that you can have some nice wall on and get away from any chaos in the field. As shown in the pics there's also some hurdles for training and tricks. Please avoid bringing in food or picnicking here as dogs will be dogs, it is a dog park!! And best to wear old clothes and shoes as likely to get dirty, as there is frequently mud and dusty dirt in many areas.
Pros: Nice views, wide open real grass field, well maintained, bathrooms nearby in lower Douglass playground, nice ridge hike, fenced in. Shady areas and plenty of chairs and benches to relax while dogs play and socialize. Nice pine trees and eucalyptus that cool the area on a hot day.
Cons: Can get busy, particularly 9-11 and 1-3. Can get chaotic with so many dogs in one space, skirmishes are likely to happen, if you're dog has food issues or behavior issues maybe where mask/muzzle or go elsewhere. Can get very muddy/dirty. Parking can be chaotic as its on a tiny cul-de-sac.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 24, 2022
Probably by far the best dog park in San Francisco. Has a great view of the skyline from some angles. It's big enough that it actually feels like nature yet it's completely fenced off. Great for dogs who don't listen. And this place has grass as well as rocky terrain and hills you can walk or run up to. Perfect to pretend to be in the wilderness for a quick minute. Your dogs will absolutely love this park

My dog loves this park! It's so big and there's so many dogs to play with. This is a great place to work on recall skills too, to make sure your dog listens to you, even among chaos! There's no big/small dog areas, it's a free for all. The area is beautiful though, wonderful views and it's nestled in a forest-y area, so lots of grass and trees. If it's rained recently, your dog is gonna need a bath after they visit here though! It's worth it since my dog seemed to have a ton of fun running around here.

All time favorite park in the city!! Every time I go to sf with my dogs I always stop by here. It's huge. I love that you can go on a little hike in the middle of the city. The lush greenery is amazing. The only downside to this park is they close it during the winter season. They have a water fountain and another water station (with a hose) on opposite sides of the park. A few benches to sit on. The park doesn't supply poopy bags but there is a plastic container where people can donate and leave bags. There is only one garbage bin by the entrance.
My dogs love it here and thankfully we haven't had any problems with any other dogs or their owners.
The hike around the perimeter of the park is pretty easy. It does get slippery after it rains so I'd be cautious with certain areas. There is rope tied in between trees to help you out. Also be careful of roots sticking out.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
