Review from Janice R.
La Mesa, CA
Had a quick and no hassle oil change here today.
Mando actually seemed to appreciate the, ah, interpretive dance I used to demonstrate what is going wrong with my transmission -- now that I like this place, I will be bringing my truck back for the Big Issue.
No pressure, no hard sell. Thorough diagnosis of problems and good work done at reasonable prices.
A keeper. -

I went in here on a rec from a friend. My truck has got 251,000 miles on it so I have to be kind to it to keep it running well. I just needed an oil change. I made an appointment so I would not have to wait. They had a bay open for me when I drove up. Armando asked me if I needed my tires rotated. I asked how much that would cost and he said it was free with the oil change service. I like free. Hells yes, switch those bad boys around. They also looked over everything underneath just to make sure there were no obvious problems and gave me a report on my brakes. This is way more than the Jiffy Lube guys do. Plus I got all this for $24.95. Woo hoo!
I was checking the place out while they were doing my service. They do transmissions, oil changes, and most major services. They also offer free towing if you have your vehicle serviced there. The customer service was definitely five star. Everyone was uber nice all while being professional. I have found myself a new oil change place. -

We were quoted $360 for a water pump and thermostat by phone on Saturday for a 2000 Saturn LS. Since the car wasn't running, we had to have it towed there first thing Monday morning. When the guy checked out the car, he said, "Oh, an LS....I thought you said it was an SL," and the price jumped several hundred dollars. Perhaps the quote over the phone for a different Saturn model was an honest mistake....I have to give them the benefit of the doubt to be fair. We felt somewhat cheated about the vastly different phone estimate compared to the quote when we actually brought it in, since that was a major consideration in towing it there, but we could not drag it around at that point to find another repair shop. To make matters worse, the due bill of $562 didn't even include a thermostat when the $360 did, so maybe you can see why I wouldn't feel like trusting them with a big repair again. This was a bad experience I didn't expect from UT. They did agree to let us pay a $160 balance on payday, so that was decent, but it shouldn't have cost that much in the first place.

Wow Armando is one awesome guy! First off my prayers are with your mechanic for a speedy recovery. These guys are truly honest and know what exactly what is wrong. I expected to pay a huge repair bill, but Mando found a loose screw that this other shop did not tighten when they replaced a speed sensor for my '93 4Runner. He topped off the tranny fluid and applied Lock-tite to the bolt. Thank you again for your honesty and expert help. That "grinding noise" is gone and it runs great.

It has been about 9 months since I had my car repaired here and I am even more happy than I was when I first came.
The service is still top level and They have caught two major issues before they became major issues.
For my last two repairs, I was surprised by the price since I have owned 3 Toyotas and they were all lemons in need of constant attention. I paid more 7 years ago than I just paid for the same repairs on the same model car (except I have a 4 door now then, it was a 2 door)
At this stage in ownership I would have already been upside down in the car's value. This time, my car not only runs better than when I first bought it, I bieleve it is only running at all thanks to this shop.
I am updating my review because,I was telling my sister (she lives in Alabama) about how great it was that they fixed my car in a matter of hours going out of thier way to be sure I made it to my Aunt funeral and she said "I would be telling every one I met if, I found a shop like that here!" so, hey everyone! this is a GREAT shop!1 Previous Review: Show all »
