2 reviews for University Animal Hospital
The owner, Dr. Lawrence, has since written an update to my review claiming that my assessment of excessive billing is unfounded.
First of all, I have never spoken to Dr. Lawrence.... ever! He has never made an attempt to contact me personally. He had a member of his staff contact me instead. Although she was very nice on the phone she insisted that the items I was billed for were for things other then the actual neuter.
What I repeatedly told her and what no one at that office seems to understand is that I ONLY WENT TO THIS PLACE TO HAVE A DOG NEUTERED. I DID NOT WANT ADDITIONAL SERVICES. When I went in and they handed me this rediculous bill they only lowered the cost after I complained. Then I told them I only want a neuter at which time I was told these other procedures had to be done.
They do not seem to understand this. Say it with me, "I only wanted the dog neutered." Again, "I only wanted the dog neutered." They charged all these other items that I was told needed to be done and was common procedure.
I also find it bizarre that they ask you to come in to pay an initial fee. After this time you can decide whether or not you want to go with this vet. They make it sound as if they're offering you a courtesy meet and greet. But who is going to pay $245 for an initial blood work procedure and then go elsewhere only to be charged the same thing over again? Are they going to give me the viles of blood so they can be analyzed by more ethical vet? I don't think so.
I will leave it up to all of you who read this whether or not you decide to go to this vet, but I'm just warning you. If you're going to have your pet neutered, do more research. Try the ASPCA instead. They might have a waiting list, but who cares. We're talking $811 charged by this place (even though there were additional procedures invovled that I was told HAD TO BE DONE) or $79 - $100 for a simple slice of the balls.
Good day!

First to Review
I wouldn't even give them one star. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. They're nothing but crooks! They… Read more »
I took my cats there to be boarded. They insisted that the cats needed updated shots, which was fine with me. We also asked that they groom one of the cats because the car ride over scared him so bad he messed himself and vomited in his carrier. When I went to pick them up they thought I wasn't coming until the next day and my cat was still covered in feces from more than 8 hours ago! Then they handed me the bill for more than $400 for a half a day's boarding and vaccinations despite the fact that we had reviewed prices with them on the phone the night before and they had quoted us around $320. If it had just been more expensive than I had thought it would be I would have given them a better review but since my cats were obviously all but ignored all day (seriously, being covered in feces and vomit for 8 hours is absolutely unacceptable) I have to give them a 1 star rating and advise you that, while their vet services seem okay, you should not board your pets there if at all possible.
Update: I did receive a call from the vet's office to find out what went wrong and to explain what they think happened with the kitties. While I don't think I will ever bring my cats there again I do believe they have good intentions and I appreciate that they took the time to address the issue when they found out I had a problem so I am giving them an additional star. Hopefully this experience will help them provide better service in the future.
