Review from Adam L.
When rating a movie theater, the most common issue i have is that the Yelpers alot of times mention the movie. Although the movie was awesome, this review is for the theater, NOT The Avengers. While visiting Universal Orlando, i noticed my girlfriend and i were going to be there on opening weekend of the Avengers. I searched for the closest IMAX 3D and this is what came up. I probably wouldnt have had i known this theater was tourist central (I REALLY MEAN TOURIST CENTRAL). It is located in Citywalk which is essentially an array of shops, restaurants, and stores that doubles as an entrance to both Universal Theme parks. That being said, this theater rocks. I had no issue with parking as our hotel was within walking distances. Why is this theater 5 stars:
1) Comfy leather seats make the experience awesome to start.
2) Their huge IMAX screens, 3D technology, and state of the art sound system really is the best movie experience i have ever had (ive been to IMAX, not IMAX 3D).
3) The temperature was perfect, not too hot, not too cold, a common problem for indoor places in Florida.
They sold out super fast, which made me glad i bought the tickets weeks in advance, even for an 11:30 pm show.
The location is ideal as far as what its around, but that also hurts as everything is WAY overpriced in citywalk. If you are at Universal and want to catch a great IMAX 3D flick and a clean theater, this is the place to go. -

Its a great theater with wounderful seats as everyone else mentions. The screens are huge, there is great sound, and there's a full bar to boot.
Parking is a hassle if you get there before 6pm. $15 bucks prior to 6pm, free for residents after. I'd go there to watch a lot more movies if they let me park before 6pm.
Tons of restruants nearby if you wanna eat before or after, even an ice cream shop. Perfect theater for dates. -

Comfy leather seats FTW!
High prices since it's in the mecca of tourists... not a good thing. However, it is a huge theater and tons of seating and comfy seating at that. So you are not cramped and you can lounge. I like those kind of seats, esp leather ones so you feel they are more clean that cloth type ones.
There is also a full bar inside which is nice. Again with the high prices though.
Pay for parking if it's not after 6pm at night and you are not a FL resident. If it is after 6 and you are a FL resident, it's free.
Great sounds and picture quality for sure! Tons of clean bathroom space as well.
So it def has it's pros and cons... I go here if they are playing a certain movie that other theaters may not or if I am in the area and randomly decide to go to a movie. I do not venture out here just to attend this theater though. -

I have been coming here for years. Place is very clean, the seats are comfy with lift up arms, and they serve a full bar here.

Not as crowded as the AMC at Disney but just as expensive, nice theaters.

I absolutely love this movie theater. With two floors, this is one of the biggest movie theaters I've ever been to, and that includes any of the movie theaters I stepped foot in while I lived in New York. Universal security can be a bit rude when you get out of a late showing and are attempting to leave the theaters and go back to your car, however the actual movie theater staff are very friendly, willing to accommodate, and there are usually great deals at the concession area. Even without any deals the prices are extremely good, as I've realized it's actually cheaper for a movie ticket at this theater then several of the other theaters in the Central Florida area. The bathrooms are always clean and the theaters themselves are very roomy with big comfortable seats and plenty of legroom. It has giant escalators leading from the first to the second floor, which can be interesting for people who are afraid of heights such as my wife, however elevators are located on both sides of the first floor and can take you up to the top, as well as a staircase. I highly recommend this theater if you live anywhere near CityWalk.

Love the theater and the seating. There is quite a trek you have to make to and from the parking lot, although I consider it exercise (for those that also sit at a desk all day 5 days a week). The bar inside the theater is a plus.

Stopped by while in town to watch Limitless. Loved the movie & the theater! It has nice comfortable leather seats & great sound. Plus the location is great since it's right in CityWalk! But the drinks don't have to stop just because your going to the theater, they have a bar inside!
So if your in town & want to catch a flick, this is the place to go to!! -

If you are at Universal it is convenient and allows you a way to kill some time if you need to do so or just get out of the heat on one of those Florida Summer days.
There is also a full bar which certainly helps if your movie selection turns out to be a dud. -

Such a nice place! I came to this theatre for the Midnight showing of Harry Potter and it was packed beyond belief. I'm so glad my friends got my ticket for me since I arrived right after work, about 40 minutes before the movie.
I enjoy the fact that this theatre has an upstairs and downstairs concession stand and the bottom floor has a BAR! Wow, imagine, getting a beverage right at the venue without having one prior to show...Not that I need liquor to have fun at the movies but whatever.
Bathrooms were packed but still kept clean..There was also a lot of security and other employees around the theatre. My friend's drink got spilled before we even were all seated but I was able to get it refilled again..Although the drink line was crazy long.
This is such a comfy theatre and I loved that there were so many people that came out for the movie it sure didn't feel like midnight! Will be heading back here soon! -

I guess I don't mind this theater, although it isn't my first choice--or second choice.
Pros: If you're already at Universal, you can see a movie without leaving the resort; it has a full bar; Universal's Movie & Meal deal is actually a really good value; they play old releases like Rocky Horror Picture Show; and they finally put in an IMAX screen.
Cons: The IMAX screen isn't nearly as impressive as one at Pointe Orlando, just down the street on International Drive (if you're going to pay $17 for IMAX 3D, you might as well go to the biggest screen in town); the movie theaters are usually FREEZING; if you arrive before 6pm you're paying for parking; and depending on where you park, it is a trek to get from your car to the movie theater.
My recommendation: Start with drinks and an appetizer at the Lone Palm Airport, the tiki bar across the walkway from Margaritaville. If things go well, you may not end up going to a movie at all!
Insider tip: As you approach the entrance to the theater, there are electronic ticketing machines to your right. -
Review from Joshua J.
I dont go out to the theaters all that often. I have a bad back and sitting in most theaters tends to be quite uncomfortable for me by the time the previews are coming to an end.
This was not the case at the AMC Universal Cineplex. I had the opportunity to attend a preview showing of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Being that Wall Street was one of my favorite movies growing up, I couldnt pass up this chance. While I was somewhat disappointed by the movie, that was certainly not the case with the theater. Not only does the theater have a full bar and tons of snacks, but the screening rooms have plush seats that recline!
Im not sure about pricing as the preview showing was free, but I would guess that with it being located at City Walk its probably a bit more than a traditional theater.
As much as I dont like getting on I-4, I would make the trek again to see another movie in comfort. -

Came to see Resident evil 3-d. I knew that it would be a pricey movie. It is Universal Studios after all.
The price of my IMAX ticket was $14.00 ughhhhh but whatever. Nice leather seats and enough arm room to please.
The movie was decent bit off a lil to much of Matrix but what can ya do.
All in all not a bad place to catch a flick if your in the Orlando area. -
Review from Nick S.
I went here after a day at Universal Orlando, and was very pleased with the quality of the theaters. They're big, clean and have comfortable seats.
They have a lot of movies playing, and seem to rotate special screenings based on the time of year. When I was there they had screenings for "It's a Wonderful Life", which is just plain awesome. -
Review from Carla L.
OK so the tickets here aren't the bargain movie ticket prices, but you are in CityWalk. The theater is ginormous, clean, pleasant and in a perfect spot.
There is nothing better than going to a movie in a nice, dark and cool theatre in the middle of the day because its 100+ degrees in the parks in the summer. At that time the theatres are virtually empty and you can get into ANY movie! Remember this when your favorite sold out Sci-Fi, Fantasy, or Vampire movie comes out and you can't see it elsewhere because there are no tix.
It is also a nice break after the parks. The seating is super comfy, its theatre seating and deep so the guy with the large head in front of you won't make the experience unwatchable!

I was here last night for a showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Me and a friend bought the dinner and a movie tickets so after dinner I came here with my friend.
After ordering our tickets from the theater we got the theater we were told to go to(as indicated by the ticket)
However that was the wrong theater. That one was not showing Harry Potter. So we stepped out and found an employee. She helped direct us to the correct theater to watch the movie we paid for and wanted o see. The good thing is that since we had gotten there early we still had not missed any of the movie. -
Review from Rayni K.
This is very much a decent movie theater. Ticket prices are (as of this past weekend) $9.25 for adults, and there are discounts for students, child, seniors, as well as matinee and A.M shows (before noon on weekends and holidays). If you don't have the preferred annual pass to the Universal parks, then it might be more worth it to eat the price of the movie theater and arrive after 6pm to take advantage of the free parking (unless there's an event going on).
They play mostly the major releases of today, but also do special screenings of the major releases of the good ol' days. They sometimes have a theme and spend a couple months showing specific genres, but they're usually pretty broad otherwise. So if you ever feel like watching a classic on the big screen again, this is a good theater to do that in.
The concession stand sells more than just your average pop-corn and soda (which, by the way, has free refills for the large cup). They have nachos, hot dogs and chicken fingers. Obviously they're all overpriced, but that's to be expected. And like others have said, they do serve other drinks than just soda also.
The seats are comfy, the screen and sound system is definitely above par. And the location is pretty convenient as well. Grab dinner somewhere in City Walk, watch a movie, then clubbing afterwards, and it's all complete. -

Great movie theater inside Citywalk. Definitely a nice option if u don't feel like going to a club. The tickets are pricier than ur regular theater but like any other place in universal...u gotta expect it.

Review from Joe C.
We went to the AMC at Universal Citywalk tonight to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Back To The Future. We've been there before, and have generally "ok" experiences, but we won't be returning here after tonight.
Yes, the theaters are pretty nice and clean. Yes, the seats are pretty comfortable, though the legroom is a bit cramped in some theaters. Yes, the staff tends to be pretty polite. Yes, they serve more food than just the usual popcorn and nachos.
They also serve alcohol - and more than just the beer and wine that the other big chains do - actual mixed drinks (all pre-mixes, I believe) - but this is not always a good thing. Lots of people can drink in moderation and handle themselves in responsible and respectable manners. Lots of people can't.
Add all the locals to all the tourists and alcohol and just generally obnoxious people, and you've got a recipe for disaster.
At our showing tonight, we had all the usual suspects: people answering their phone or texting, people chatting, people reciting lines along with the actors, that guy who crunches his chips really loudly... Add in people in the front row talking/yelling loud enough to hear them from the middle of the theater. Add in the guy who would literally scream at the top of his lungs every few minutes. We couldn't take it anymore. We walked out of the movie just before the Libyans showed up.
We went to the customer service desk. A ticket attendant working nearby saw us and without hesitation asked, "you need a refund?" I guess they get a good number of people walking out of their shows.
To their credit, they refunded our money, gave us two extra passes and offered to let us sit in another showing that was getting ready to start. We were too annoyed and have too little faith in the crowds here to have possibly enjoyed it at that point, so we just sucked it up and went home. -

I recently started going to the theater at Universal because they host a number of advance screenings of movies. I have been very impressed with how nice it is and the fact that they have a bar. There are very few theaters that offer that. Plus the fact that the seats are leather make it that much nicer.
I had never been in their IMAX theater until the new Resident Evil movie came out. Wow! I will have to see more movies there. I prefer it over Disney's ETX screen.
My only complaint is that you have to pay to park. Luckily, I have an annual pass to Universal that includes parking. But if it weren't for that, prices can be steep if you go during the day. They reduce prices in the evening.
But anytime they host an advance screening, it's above what any other theater does. There's usually an alcohol sponsor that gives out one or two free drinks. Sometimes there are radio stations there as well as other sponsors. Just depends on the movie.
It's literally right up the street from where I live, so it's the most convenient for me. -

Can you say AMAZING!! My brother only goes here to see his 3D movies. He insisted I see Avatar at this Location, and I must say I am already looking for my Alice and Wonderland tickets.
Biggest comfy seats,. huge screen, Bar on site, and CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN.
Of course all concession items are over price, but I didnt find it too bad being CityWalk Location. My brother explained they downgraded their 3D glasses, since people were taking them home..but They were still okay for me. If you want a perfect movie place..this is it! -

As far as movie theaters go, It's not perfect. It has a full bar right inside, so that's nice, and they do specials, so that's even nicer... But you have to pay for parking, so add that to the ticket price the bill goes up. They do seem very organized, but the bartenders move a little slow, even just for a single beer!
The seats (I sat in Theater 9) were very comfortable, some type of leather substitute that reclined. Would I choose this theater for just an afternoon movie? Most likely not. Would I choose this theater to bring out of town friends to get the whole theme park experience without having to enter, heck yeah I would! -

Being a Wednesday night on early October, I found CityWalk an excellent place to hang out before and after the movie. But have in mind that if you are not an Universal Orlando Preferred Annual Pass holder, you will have to pay for parking every single time. Unless someone drops you off.
This location has full bar, but I wasn't in the mood to drink or eat anything that night. So, I won't comment on that.
What really pushed me to leave this review was my experience attending for the first time a DP* (Digital Projection) Showtime. This ain't IMAX, but is how films should be presented on big screens in today's digital age. No flickering, no dust spots, nada! Clean clear picture quality. The future is in this theater. I hope it gets adopted around quickly.
I'm giving it a 4 stars. This will be my first option when going out for a movie.
*Digital Projection applies for all shows that are projected digitally rather than using conventional film. Digitally projected shows use one of several different technologies to provide maximum fidelity: a picture with impressive clarity, brilliance and color and a lack of scratches, fading and flutter. I happen to love this theater as it has great screens with digital projectors and Dolby Digital sound. Its an extremely well constructed theater surrounded by the Universal Theme parks and Universal Citywalk.
The only thing that I dislike about this theater is the amount of walking one has to do to get to it from the parking lot. Interestingly enough this theater also serves beer at its concession stand. -

Orlando, FL
Although this theatre is pretty big, I have to say that despite being part of the CityWalk attraction, I didn't find too much special about this theatre. Sure, it is nice-looking, and they do have Rocky Horror events, which are awesome, but there's just not much that separates this place from all the others.
The Good:
Digital picture and sound:This place has noticeably sharp picture and sound, and they feature dolby digital sound, which is really great during those musicals...I mean...action movie
Serves Alcohol: It's cool, yeah, but sitting in a theater drinking is not exactly my cup of tea. But if it is yours, more power to you.
The Bad:
High Ticket prices: If you go a few more miles into Kissimmee, you can get into a movie for $7, so I don't really think that the $9.50 ticket price is really fair.
Just like every other theatre: Honestly I don't think this place is cool enough to make a special trip for. I mean if you are at Citywalk anyway, I would check it out, but there is no way I would make a special trip just to this place.
Overall 6.2/10=Cine-yawn -

It's a movie theatre. A pretty good one. The bar is legit - had Horcrux shots when I was there last. Theatres are clean... smell fine. And, the arms rests go up and down and the seats recline. (This is important if you're with a special so-and-so and/or enjoy the fine details of theatre luxury).

Review from Amanda W.
This is an OK theater if you don't mind the tourists and CityWalk. I usually only come here for the midnight showings of Rocky Horror Picture Show performed by the Rich Weirdos who are absolutely amazing and hilarious. They also do midnight showings on weekends of older movies such as Spaceballs, A Clockwork Orange, and The Breakfast Club to name a few. They also serve over priced alcohol too.

Review from Dan B.
This cinema is particularly huge. The escalator ride to the top floor seems endless. I also like the fact that I can drink in the movie. I haven't done it yet, but it may happen if I have to see a bad movie there. The prices are unfair of course. You can expect that with any sort of sale conducted at Universal or Disney. It's best just to suck it up and enjoy the experience. The picture and sound is clearly better than your local theatre, so the extra money is sometimes worth it especially if you've been having fun in city walk or the parks and now just want to take a load off in a luxurious theatre.

Ferndale, MI
This has to one of the best AMC theaters in the chain. It is clean, well staffed, and has additional amenities, such as full service bar, outdoor patio, and games for kids. The seats are super comfy, great sound system and picture quality. It is a bit more pricey because of its location and you do have to pay to park, which is high during the day, but rather inexpensive after 6:00 PM.

This theater is conveniently located at in Citywalk. Aside from the normal, over-priced items they also offer beer and wine. They have more than a few available screens so you can usually see current box office hits here as well as a variety of specialty movies! It's a great place to catch a movie as Citywalk is also home to a few different clubs, restaurants, and stores.

This movie theater is usually the one I always end up going to. I have never had any complaints with it. We get our tickets in a timely manner. Always clean inside. I use to work for AMC. No matter where the location of an AMC, managers makes sure its clean. Especially the concessions and inside the theatre. If not their is something wrong with that AMC and should be address by calling there 1800 customer service line. Hot dogs are always good, and so are the pretzels. Popcorn should be as fresh as it can get. If their are huge lines please do not get mad at them just because your popcorn isn't fresh or something is amiss. Sometimes it gets chaotic. With your popcorn wait until they make a fresh batch and than switch out your popcorn. Their always willing to fix any problem you have.
When my bf and I went to watch Despicable Me they had a slight and I mean slight problem with the screen. It changed to a purplish color. Since I have worked at an AMC before, I knew we would get a refund. And we sure did at the end. If your movie messes up, look for the employees passing out refund tickets.
So far no complaints. To be honest you really shouldn't have any complaints at an AMC. AMC have high standards and try to excel in their up-selling and customer service. You should always leave happy, unless if the movie was bad!
* On a side note, just because there is a little bit of trash leftover is nothing to complain about. I have had to clean out theaters several times before while working at an AMC. You should see it before it is even cleaned up. So it is always helpful that you pick up after yourselves :-) -

this movie theater is a good theater but probably not as good as the Disney world pleasure island theater but they serve wine and beer which I'm not used to in movie theaters because i live in Northern California and i have never been to a movie theater that serves alcohol until now
