Total sweetness. I just moved here from Chicago and I have found a shopping haven, thanks Yelpers!!! Scored Rag & Bone jeans, a Vera Wang top and T-Bags tank for a TOTAL of $27!!
I saw labels by Lanvin, Vivan Westwood, Jil Sander, Ferragamo to name a few. Yes, you have to dig around racks but the ladies who work here are very sweet and helpful. Definetly digging Nashville so far.. :) -

I must admit, every time my wife and I walk into this store I am blown away at not only the cheap prices she is paying for designer clothing but also how fashionable they are, HOWEVER, when it comes to mens clothing they really miss the mark. I consider myself to be somewhat fashionable and risky when it comes to clothing, but I have a very very hard time finding things that make me say "I MUST HAVE THIS!". While their men's section has grown considerably, I wish they paid as much attention to men's clothing as much as they do women's clothing.
Please please please take a hint from your Yelpers and bring in some decent mens clothing! -

So let me get this straight, I can buy a Bensoni dress that normally retails at nearly $700 for around $90?
I can also score new Missoni, Marc Jacobs, and other designer gear for insanely discounted prices and still walk out with enough cash in my pockets for a martini or two?
If that doesn't earn a Yelp 5 star rating, I don't know what does.Listed in: I HEART Nashville Biz, Doppelganger Businesses, Boutiques, Bribe Me With Gifts!, West End

UAL is a mecca for those poor fashionistas like me, emphasis on the poor. Where else can you get last season's couture for a bargain?
Besides couture, they have boutique-style clothing that's downright affordable. I love the super soft tees (brand name escapes me!), and the accessories are unique as all get out.
The staff are always super helpful and willing to set aside a room for you while you treasure hunt through the store.
If you're on the hunt for an outfit no one else has in Nashville, this is the place! -

I love "sample" stores, like a lot. Maybe too much. UAL, well, I like them, and their staff. I tend to buy something everytime I have been in BUT it usually runs in the accessory category. One time they had metallic green clutches on sale for $5. I bought 4 of them as gifts. (Turkey coma, can't type anymore.)

The Nashville location is so much better than the New Orleans shop - more organized, friendlier and at least double the size!

Finally! A store that carries high-end, STYLISH, ON-TREND, quality clothes at a fraction of the cost! My wallet (and my husband!) are so grateful for the existence of this store!
The staff members are so helpful and friendly, without applying the typical sales pressure! And thank the Lord they are helpful, b/c I would not have been able to navigate my way through the store otherwise - it is PACKED with awesome finds! I walked out with some serious deals! What should have retailed at well over $500 cost me just less than $100! WHAT!? I'm never shopping at the mall again!
The girl who was helping me gave me a run through of the store and noted they are picky with what they choose so everything is on-trend and they receive shipments daily! Check out their ever evolving inventory!Listed in: Let's Avoid the Chain Gang!

I almost didn't go in! From the outside, this little (ok it's actually pretty decent in size) West End store looked a bit on the dingy inside. I immediately thought this was a second-hand store but was confused by the number of girls with big bright smiles holding up extraordinary pieces of designer goods.
So I had to go in and that was the end of me...
In UAL you wil find: Denim racks that are overflowing with designer jeans at ridiculous prices (under $70), Twenty Tee tees selling for $11.99-$24.99, Fendi watches for under $300 and many many more amazing items that you probably can't wait to get your hands on.
I wasn't even expecting to have a personal shopper but Libby was the sweetest and best friend I could have had that day. She pulled out pieces that I would not have even thought of trying on and helped me decide what my wardrobe really needed when I was debating between items. If it weren't for her I would not have been able to score a pair of lambskin Esquivel boots that originally retail at $920 for under $300.
So thank you UAL and Libby. I've proven to you that I'll come back and spread the word because I already made a second trip with a friend. Can't wait till next time! -
Review from Matt L.
My only issue is not really with the store, but with the category that this is a store that carries men's clothes. It's really just an afterthought, and covers only about 10% of the store.
Their selection of ladies wear looks to be pretty decent, and store isn't any worse than most second hand or liquidators. But I feel like my time was wasted with the claim that this place carries men's clothing, when the selection is so thin, it's not really worth it. -
Review from Chloe M.
I was super excited to go to this store after learning about it and reading the reviews on here. I'm glad I went.
As soon as I walked in, a sales girl welcomed me and asked me if I had been there before. I told her no, and then she explained the lay out of the store and pointed a few things out and told me to let her know if I needed anything. I thought she was nice and friendly, not pushy at all. While I was browsing, she came over and started a fitting room for me. That's pretty nice considering it's a "discount" store.
The majority of the store is dedicated to high-end, trendy clothes. Basically, what Saks and Neiman's sells as designer clothes, but not what they classify as "premium" designer. As far as premium designer, I saw one Marc by Marc Jacobs jacket (size M), one Dolce & Gabbana dress (size 8), and one other truly high end designer that I've already forgotten. (And by "one" I mean, one piece of clothing. Not one style. If you happened to find something you liked and it just so happened to be your size, well, it's your lucky day.)
They had a lot of Sanctuary pants on sale for $20! They had a lot of sizes, but all out of size 28s. They also had a lot of Serfontane jeans. I went through their clearance rack and found the cutest silk top by 2 B Rych marked down to $9.99. At Neiman Marcus it was $190! whooo hooo!!
If I lived in Nashville, this would definitely be on my short list of "well, let's just stop in real quick and see what they have." -

My search for Jeans That Fit is finally over.
The owner asked me what I was looking for, in what price range, and sized me with an expert eye. I was doubtful she could find me anything as she lead me around the store handing me jeans. On that front she was ....very blunt about the areas we wanted to camoflage, but only so we had a starting point on sizes and cuts. She knows what she's doing, so if you're a little ovewhelmed at the thought of going through the racks, she'll take good care of you.
I tried on several pairs, and much to my surprise, as I was getting discouraged I zipped up jeans that, dare I say it, fit me like a glove, for about 50 bucks. (marked down from 280)
I wanted to get out before I spent too much, so I didn't look around. (No one would have had to convince to buy a new sweater, say) but I will be back soon to browse. -

OK. I have found it! My new obsession...is this a good thing? YES. So, I had heard this store was opening...you could buy designer clothes for like, 90% off. I didn't totally believe they would be designer, but OH HECK YEAH they are!
Let me just paint the picture for you...UAL is located in the old Vandyland location (no more yummy Southern food and milkshakes, but SO glad this moved in!)...so it's not a fancy store. Think cement floors, open "warehouse" style, unfinished ceilings, etc. And you pretty much walk in to chaos. But oh is it worth it! They get new shipments in every DAY! So can you see why I'm obsessed?
Labels such as Jimmy Choo (seriously? heels for $150!!!!!!), Balenciaga, Velvet, Black Opal, Hollywould, Michael Kors, and MANY others live there. Here's the kicker--they really ARE like 70-90% off (I'm not kidding about the Jimmy Choos...probably $650 shoes at $150--can't beat that with a stick!).
Now, it is a bit of a scavenger hunt...you have to get over the "couture on the floor" of it all ha! No, I'm kidding on that, there were not clothes on the floor, but it is a bit sad to see a beautiful $3,000 gown on a plastic hanger against a bland wall...sad, that is, until you see it's $250 price tag! WHAT? YAY!!!!!!!! Yeah...I got over the sadness really quick!
Other positives are the overall sense of fun in the store--the owner is hilarious, don't be shocked if she yells hello to you from across the store, and even in this environment, the sales girls (and guys) are very helpful and knowledgeable. The dressing rooms are big and roomy with great mirrors too--they don't make you walk outside in the store to check out your outfit, like some places do!
So it's not your usual couture and designer shopping experience, but totally worth it. After about 5 trips to UAL in almost as many days, I was hesitant to even disclose my new-found shopping secret, but hey it is my Scout duty so, Nashvillians, here you go! I give you, UAL!Listed in: Born to Shop

Now a review written for the "normal sized" woman.
Yes, the clothes are pretty, marked down to fantastic prices and they simply won't fit you. Because these are designer samples, most of them are built for tall women (I am 5'2") and those without boobs (I have ample boobage).
True, I managed to find a size 10 Betsy Johnson to try on and could do nothing but laugh as I literally poured out of the top. Oh well.
I was looking for a dress and didn't peruse the other racks of clothing. The sweet saleswoman (Kelly?) asked me how I found the place and she had never heard of Yelp. She tried very hard to be helpful but seriously looked miserable in her own too-high-for-work heels and perhaps a little confused to see a little busty woman in her midst.
If you must, go with a sense of humor and HIGH self esteem. -

HOLY MOTHER OF DESIGNER BARGAINS!!
Do you remember the feeling when you were a kid and you walked into a toy store for the first time - so much to see your heart raced and your head started spinning? THAT'S how I felt when I walked into UAL for the first time yesterday. Thanks to the wonderful yelpers I checked this place out - and like within the first 10 minutes I already had 50 dresses to try on.
This stuff is high end, high quality clothing and ultra low prices. Some of them, even at 75-90% off I still couldn't afford (be prepared for a $600 D&G gown that retails for $5000)....but still a great deal. You'll spend some time here - sometimes there is only 1 or 2 sizes of a piece so you have to rumage through it. Oh, but it's so worth it! I scored this great Milly top (retail $260, got for $59), and much, much more!
The sales staff is fantastic. I found out they work on commission - but they weren't too pushy. I LOVE that they bring the clothes to you as you try them on. They are constantly taking and bringing things - no more "you can only have 6 items at a time". My girl brought me this "Elijah" top that I would NEVER in a million years have picked....I instantly loved it!! She was not too pushy, she seemed like she just wanted to make me happy....I think I'm in LOVE!!!!!!!!Listed in: Why I love Nashville....

I was shocked to find all of the five star reviews for United Apparel Liquidators. I think my first experience in the store was just a strange one. I was shopping the store during what was apparently a staff meeting, because everyone was gathered in the middle of the store talking about how to catch a shoplifter. It was just a bit off-putting while I was perusing the clothes racks. I almost felt as if it was directed at me, which just made me feel paranoid.
Despite the odd circumstances, I was pleased with the store's selection. It's fairly broad... Lots of dresses, skirts, and pants. The front part of the store held most of the high end designer clothes, most of which were drastically marked down from their original price. It is nice to have another shopping option in this area though, because the shops in Hillsboro Village are cute but really limited because of their size. I would compare it to a really small version of Off 5th or the Designer section in TJ Maxx (I've only seen that in the Brentwood location, though). Definitely worth a look, especially if you like the hunt for a great deal like I do. -

GREAT CLOTHES, TERRIBLE MANAGER
I LOVEEE the clothes here! I always find lots of things every time I go in!! Its amazing!
There is one manager who has never been friendly. Last time I was in I was shocked by how rude she was. She was terrible! Not friendly AT ALL. It was sad because I LOVE the clothes. -

The moment I walked into UAL, the owner took it upon herself to size me up ("I think you might be looking for something in the more moderate price range") and show me around the ENTIRE store. Usually this kind of agressiveness in a salesperson would seem pushy, but she was so frank with me and so excited about her merchandise that I didn't mind. And when I told her I didn't "want to waste too much of her time," she took the hint and left me to browse on my own.
UAL has a mix of trendy and sophisticated styles that could please pretty much anyone. Unfortunately, since all the merchandise is liquidated, the sizes are limited to what you see on the floor. Prices range from $30-$600, depending on whether you're looking in the front (ultra high-end) or back (lesser known designers and sales) of the store. This is a big store, with men's and children's clothes as well as women's. UAL will be my first stop if I ever need something classy to wear to a wedding or other formal occasion. -

United Apparel Liquidators is the place to go for high end brands at discounted prices. These are no regular discounts though, we are talking 50-90% off the original prices of these brand names such as Balenciaga, Louboutin, Chloe, and more. If you are into labels, and one of a kind designer duds you will love this place. Also, if you are just into getting bargains, you will find a lot of sweet deals for the cheapskate inside your frugal little heart.
UAL, as you may have guessed by the name is an apparel liquidator, which means they buy up merchandise in 'lots' from retailers who are trying to get rid of stuff out of season, or odd sizes, or good stuff that just didn't sell as fast as they wanted. So, you can find random sizes, strange designs, and occasionally you will find true gems that slipped through everyone's hands, trickled all the way down into yours at a great, great price.
The layout of the Nashville store is pretty simple with a few touches of decoration to class the place up. The dressing rooms look cute and have velvet curtains, good soft lighting, and large mirrors. The store has clothing, shoes, and accessories on every surface. The selection is really great. You can spend a lot of time here, so be warned, don't expect to get in and out in five minutes, you will get sucked into the vortex of good deals!
The only downer with this store is that they are not open to negotiate the prices with you. I would say this is something they should be more open to since the items were all bought in bulk. Probably this depends on the markup too. I would encourage everyone to try and bargain especially if the discount is only around %50 of the original price, who knows we may get a break now and then, if we stick together. -

I went there last weekend, and walked away with a great deal on a lace skirt, a denim dress, and a beautiful long, white cotton dress.
The sales people are nice. It caught me off guard to have such cheery, nice people offering to bring me tons of stuff, since I'm used to sifting through racks of musty old clothing at Goodwill and such, but the service is certainly very... friendly. While most of the stuff is very affordable, they also have the more couture stuff, perfect for very formal events or when you have money to spend on a truly designer dress. At the least, it's fun stuff to look at.
Ultimately, I was very pleased. I find the whole process of shopping retail so frustrating, so that mostly accounts for the 4, and also the selection was more trendy that avant garde, perhaps... at the least, this place is one nice step forwards towards Nashville being a fashion-forward city.
One cute thing, heard a girl say: "I haven't seen such great clothing since I've been in Paris!"
It is that kind of a place. Rave reviews, doing a great business, friends love it, yadayada. -

I've only lived here for 3 months, and I'm almost a regular at UAL. The place is a bit overwhelming, for sure, but oh-so-worth it. Lots of stuff! colors! everywhere! And the owner, also at first, overwhelming, but a truly sweet and helpful gal! On my first visit, she took me under her wing on sight, and raided her own store for me for over an hour, helping me find some amazing stuff i would've otherwise missed. They do carry a few of your expected high-end designers, but also a TON of less commercialized fashion GOLD, that you WON'T find at every other high-end reseller. If you are expecting a laundry list of department store designers alone, you might be disappointed that you don't recognize every name on first glance. But for me, thats what makes UAL great. I know that what I find at UAL won't be on the butts of every other girl in Nashville, and I love that.

I'm a little confused as to whether UAL is a fancy thrift store or an outlet store, but either way if you are looking for designer names and chic accessories this might be your heaven. Personally I was a little overwhelmed by the place, and it's not really my bag of chips, but it definitely was a fun way to kill some time. I think mostly it caters to designer bargain hunter, if you can call a $400 sweater a bargain. I had heard that their employees were usually bordering pushy, but no one ever greeted me or ever asked me if I needed any help. I found this to be a little suspect since they seemed to be attacking everyone else that came through, but maybe I just didn't look like their kind. Honestly, its not my favorite place, but again what do I know about designer bargains?

Vandyland is dead and has recently been replaced with Nashville's newest addition of liquidators. UAL offers high end items at 70 to 90% off retail. This may be one of the most exciting places to bargain shop around. And while shopping here you will also be supporting a mom and pop business. It's a win win situation.

Best shopping in Nashville, bar none. You definitely have to visit often to take advantage of the continual shipments of amazing stuff (and to start figuring out where everything is located around the store!), but I almost never leave empty-handed or with an empty wallet. You can find everything from up-and-coming designers to the most established high-end labels. It's gotten to be a fun hobby of mine to spot the exact same clothing or shoes at the other boutiques and stores in town that I've seen or purchased at UAL for literally fractions of the prices.
More and more often, when people ask where I managed to find some awesome article of clothing, shoes, or jewelry, my answer is UAL.
My two cents - don't be scared of the sales girls, and try on what they bring you. They know their stuff AND they're happy to keep an eye out for whatever you're after, and if they don't have it that day, they'll even call you when it comes in. -

OHHHH YEAH! This makes me want to go back to Nashville just to shop. Again, my well-traveled coworker did her research and found this ground-zero for bargains.
If you are anything like me you find it nearly impossible to get deals in designer outlet stores. I am nearly 6 ft tall and a size 10-12 so most of the time I am out of luck. For around $300 I walked away with 3 pairs of pants, two skirts, a dress and a top. I was totally blown away by the selection in this store. The front half of the store is mostly the high end brands, Chloe and a few other super recognizable names. Even with a huge discount most of this stuff is not affordable for the average Jane (and much of the expensive stuff makes you wonder what the heck the designer was thinking). That being said, the back half of the store was a gold mine for me. Most of the brands were stuff you find at Nordstrom, and even the non brand name items rocked. I don't care who made it, as long as it fits! I wish I had brought more cash to blow on the great accessories selection in the case in the middle of the store. I have to say the girls that work there are awesome too. I even had my sights set on a retro overnight case hanging on the wall. Swell!
Everybody - get to this store before it ends up in Lucky or Glamour magazines! During my visit there was some local stylist on his phone RAVING to his buddies about the deals. I thought it was cool that they had a pink dress in the window, with the same dress pictured on magazine next to it - I think Jessica Simpson was wearing it. Very cool.
UAL - PLEASE COME TO LA AND SAVE ME! -
Review from Laurel N.
Washington, DC
UNBELIEVABLE. I was in Nashville helping a close friend with wedding planning and she brought me to what I thought was a high-end consignment store but is actually fashion nirvana. It took me a minute to process -- wait, is that a brand-new Chloe trench at 1/10th the original price? A Prada suit? A BALENCIAGA JACKET? Turns out the buyers go to New York and L.A. a couple of times a year and buy pieces on clearance from the designers themselves -- likely stuff that they can't or won't sell at that sort of discount on 5th Avenue. The space is sort of a warehouse, so there's some hunting involved, but it's definitely worth it. They were having an extra 30% off sale this weekend, so looking at the series of markdowns on the labels is pretty mind-blowing. Of course it's insane that a jacket would start at at $4200, but if you can score it for a price that you would pay for one on sale at Banana Republic (seriously, $125 for the Balenciaga), it's pretty much a fashion triumph. I also walked out with a Proenza Schouler blazer and a Thakoon coat -- labels I've scarcely even seen before in real life -- for a super-small sum. The salesgirl helping me said they have customers who drive for 6 hours to get there. If you're lucky enough to live closer -- run, don't walk.
