I recently selected a new PCP, and came in to this place when I was up for my psychical. The lack of paperwork to fill out was awesome, and the nursing support staff was really delightful and helpful. My doctor was pleasant, but seemed very rushed and my psychical seemed rushed and like she had other places to be. It definitely wasn't as thorough as the exams at my previous provider's office. It made me feel not really okay with my experience, and my husband had the same rushed experience at his PCP's visit, at another Cambridge Health Alliance location.
I am torn between coming back here again for my yearly exams, and I definitely will be picking a new OB/GYN and going there for my exams instead of getting them done by my PCP.....I don't want my uterus to fall out based on rushed exam.
I love love love this place. Everyone is so incredibly courteous and professional. They're always able to get me in quickly and their online services are so convenient. I started seeing them when I lived close by, but they're so good that I've kept them even though I live far away.
Dr. Van Der Linde is kind and caring, and goes above and beyond her duties to check in on her patients. Everyone I've interacted with there (receptionists, nurses, etc) has been exceptionally personable as well.
I came to USFH after an experience with a terrible doctor elsewhere, and my comfort and trust in doctors was restored very quickly. I really can't say enough about USFH, they are truly exceptional!
This is a great place for your primary care needs. My doctor is Monica DeMasi and she is awesome; super nice and laid-back. Being able to communicate well with your physician is pretty much key and Dr. DeMasi is really easy to talk to and always takes the time to explain everything.
All the other people that work here that I've encountered have been friendly and helpful. They are really good about calling to let me know what's up when it comes to things like refilling meds or getting appointments to see specialists. Overall, I just get the feeling that the place is fairly well-run and organized and that they care about serving the needs of their patients.
The only negative I can think of is that the waiting room is a little meh. The tv is tiny and doesn't get very good reception and the whole setup with the chairs and everything seems like an afterthought. These are pretty minor gripes about fairly superfluous things though and not really an issue as I never have to spend too much time waiting there anyway.
So I needed to see a doc, and the next available at this locale was Dr. Susheela Subbarao.
She was great. I had a lot of questions to ask, and she let me ask them all. This was by far the best general physical I have ever had, in terms of comprehensiveness and patience and personableness. Dr. Subbarao calmed all my doctor phobias. Of which I have, say, between 2 and 1844 squared. Dr. Subbarao is young, smart, friendly, and - best of all - she was very receptive to my questions and concerns and informative as far as advice and so forth.
And my visit today was way longer than the standard 90-second-or-less visits I've had in the past. I must have been in there for close to half an hour!
Good times. This coming from a doctor-phobe.
My experiences at Union Square Family Health have been fantastic. The receptionists were always discreet and polite, which in general has not been my experience at other medical practices. The nurses were proficient and precise, always consulting with both me and my doctor before performing any procedure. Dr. Van der Linde was one of the most attentive and caring medical professionals that I have seen as a patient, and she always took the time to understand any issue that I presented her with. Union Square Family health never rushed me or made me feel frustrated or angry, which was a relief from my previous experience at MIT medical. They also have a online messaging system which you can use to order refills, make appointments and speak to your doctor directly, which is a huge time-saver.
I've been going here for years - only because they're convenient and I rarely need to stop in. On the occasions that I have, I've had them lose payment records (glad I kept the receipt!), had simple tests take weeks for the result (takes days anywhere else), and have had multiple problems with form information and paperwork. I don't ask for much, just competence.
The doctors here seem as good as anywhere, and there are also some terrific nurses, but the administration side is terrible.
They may cure your ailment, but you'll leave with a headache of some sort.
I went to see Dr. DeMasi. She was very nice and listened well. They couldn't perform one test I requested that day so I was told to come back in two weeks. A few weeks after these visits I received a letter stating that they did not collect enough cells from my test to determine results. I also received three separate bills over a few weeks. By the third bill I called them up after shifting through the confusing lists of services rendered and found out that they had double charged me to the tune of $150. I will not be going back there again!
