Simply Amazing.

Awesome Beers on Tap.
Awesome Environment.
You can seriously go in here by yourself...get a slice with some Blue Moon. Done and Done! -
Review from Helen H.
Uncle Vito's is a small place. The menu is displayed above the bar. You place your order with the bartender and pick up your food at the counter next to the kitchen.
Thai Chili Fries ($3)- One of the best fries I've ever had- super skinny and crunchy! They are a part of Pronto's menu next door. The fries had sweet chili sauce, buttermilk ranch, green onions, chilies, and cilantro on them. They were scarfed down quickly.
Buffalo Wings ($7.99 for 12)- The wings came with some celery sticks.
BLT- It was the special that consisted of bacon, mozzarella, olive oil, garlic, lettuce, tomato, and ranch. The big slice of pizza was different from how I imagined it looked like in my head. It had a lot of LT but not enough B. The layer of ranch covered lettuce and tomato eclipsed the bacon. My slice looked more like a salad than a pizza. I'm also not a big fan of crust and there was a lot of it, which I didn't finish.
It's a great place to grab some beer to watch some sports and kick back after work. I don't drink beer, watch sports, or work around here, so I don't see the need in coming back. If I wanted the fries, I'll go to Pronto instead. -

Uh hello? I can't believe I haven't done a review of Uncle Vito's yet!!! I love this place (and it's practically next door to another YUMMY spot, Mati's, see my review of that one too). There pizza is soooo yummy delicious. It's like nothing I can find anywhere in Sacramento. Thin crusts and delicious toppings. It's good a small slab and a TV (or is there two TVs?) to grab a beer and watch the game. And it's small and cozy, good for getting in and out (that's what I like to do) or for coming in on lunch and grabbing a Sierra Nevada and a slice (for about $7-8 bucks). Oh, and not to forget, the slices are huge.
I've experienced two bartenders recently: One snobby dirty blonde girl who seemed like she really didn't want to be serving us or even working there for that matter. And one very beautiful, sweet, tanned, brunette with a great smile who seemed hecka cool.
Check 'em out!!!! -

Uncle Vito's is a great low-key hangout, a cool little neighborhood bar, and IMO one of the best New York style pizzerias in Sacramento. Their happy hour is only 4pm-6pm but you can get a big pizza slice and a beer for $5. Can't argue with that!

Great place to suck up the buzz after an eventful night out in midtown.

Review from Alma R.
Definitely the go-to place after a night out in Midtown.
They're open late and serve huge, tasty slices of their pizza. My faves are the pesto, combo, and the Bianca (one of their specials). Slices are all under $5 and you can add whatever toppings you wish.
Your slice is served up in the quickness and devoured in the same amount of time.Listed in: Sactown's Finest

There's nothing, absolutely nothing, better than a slice of pizza at the end of a drunken bar crawl. Actually one thing better than a slice of pizza would be an entire pizza. And I'd settle for a cheapo dollar slice but Vito's is quality! Love trying out their daily special slice, always a little gourmet and always delish!

I finally made a sober visit to the place they call Uncle V's because more times than none I'm usually half coherent at the wee night hours of my weekend binge. Because of my past faint memories this experience had been like it was my first. The reason for my visit today was because of an earlier goal of having pizza that day and why not have a pizza and beer? Best part, you get both for 5 dollars during happy hour.
The only thing that sticks or should I say is literally ingrained into me from Uncle Vito's are the scars in my month from the PIPPING HOT pizza. I don't know what it is about reheating a slice of pizza? They will cook the slice of pizza until it is above a temperature that burns your mouth. So my tip to you is to ask the cook guy to take your slice out of the oven sooner rather than later. -
Review from Linda N.
Full bar, unhappy staff (the only bartender just had a frown on her face but did everything for the customers), and bomb ass pizza and fries.
A small sized garlic fries is enough to fill up 2-3 people IMO and I was satisfied after that. Their cheese pizza was super cheesy and i liked how their pizzas are really thin. It's such a simple pizza and a slice is about 3-4 bucks. Not bad.
I'll come back here if I'm craving pizza. The atmosphere is also chill, however small. -
Review from Mindy Y.
WOW - did not know there was an Uncle Vito's in Sacramento! Plus, compare to the one in Davis, it's worth it to go here!
PARKING: The parking was a pain to find - well I guess that's what you get for being in downtown Sacramento, very hard parking. Even at 9pm!
ROOM: I went with a group of girlfriends from UCD and we were expecting this place similar to Davis, but we were quite wrong. Uncle Vito's in the Sacramento location is way better and the reason for that is - it feels so much cleaner and cozier! Compare to Davis, the dining room is much smaller, well, basically the whole restaurant is pretty tiny. There's outdoor seating and also indoor seating. Chairs and tables are the long leg types, which in my opinion like them better than the the couch-y chairs.
SERVICE: So, ordering - go in front near the bar (you'll probably see a line of people lining up) and place order with a server there. You pay and she'll give you a number and you go find an empty table to seat at. I'm not even going to lie - it was hard to find a table because the place was so small, but luckily after waiting awhile some spots emptied up. And that was when my group of girl came running to snatch a spot! Success! Food came in an orderly fashion. The appetizer came and then the pizza came. One comment on the waiter - she didn't even bring our pizza out! Okay, girl - the bell ran 4 times in 5 minute intervals and you still didn't bring our pizza to our table! I had to walk over and bring the pizza myself! And man, the pizza plate was super-duper HOT and the chief had to give me a towel to bring it over. Because of this experience, 2 stars for service. I was not satisfied.
FOOD: here's what we had:
(1) Something to DIE for: THAI FRIES! If you're going to live one more day... just one more day. Try the the Thai fries! I love how Uncle Vito's fry their fires! It's super thin, so when it's deep-fried, it's super crunch too, but one good thing is it wasn't not burnt at all! 5 stars too TO DIE FOR THAI FRIES!
(2) We ordered the largest size PIZZA - the comb! I love how the pizza is thin and with massive amounts of toppings. There were sausages, salami, pepperoni, tomato, mushrooms, etc... basically, a whole load of goodness. Just one minor mistake: the crust! How do you ruin crust! I love crust, but not a fan of Uncle Vito's crust. Sad face! It was hard. Hard to bite and really dry. 4 stars.
OVERALL: Again, if you're going to live one more day in this lovely world of ours, order the THAI FRIES, it's worth dying for!Listed in: Pizza

Great place. If looking for beers and food on the cheap, this is your place! They have a happy hour special where you get a HUGE (really huge) slice of pizza and a TALL beer for $5, until 6pm weeknights. I'm sold on that!
The pizza is pretty darn good, the beer is everything I'd expect. The mugs are frosty. The space is a little small and divey, but that's what I wanted so I'm all set! Also you can order food from Pronto Restaurant next door no prob if you prefer something besides pizza. -
Review from Zach L.
I agree with others that this isn't exactly a "Slice of NY." But don't let that dissuade you from stopping in here as Vito makes a great slice of pie! The slices are big and very tasty. The pizza isn't too greasy, which is a relief after some of my recent experiences at other pizzerias in the area. There's a nice balance of cheese, toppings, and sauce. The dough is thin and has a nice crunch to it without being dry/over done.
For your beverage needs, there's a full bar and plenty of beer on tap. This place does get pretty packed though, so be patient. It can take a few minutes to get served at the bar once it gets jumping. Though they do get the pizza out fast after you do place your order and the bartenders all do their best to offer up solid customer service. -

Having New York roots it is hard for me to get excited about any California pizzeria that claims to have NY style pizza. I have found a couple of close ones but this place isn't even close. Don't get me wrong, the pizza was tasty but definitely not NY Style. You might as well advertise that this is Canadian pizza for how closely related it is to NY Pizza. :)
**TEST TO SEE IF YOUR EATING NY PIZZA**
First off you will refer to it as a pie, not pizza.
Secondly you can only order a meal by saying, "Gimme a Coke and a slice."
Thirdly the slice needs to be reheated and extremely thin crust.
Fourthly (Not sure that is a word) the pizza should be so cheesy and greasy that the paper plate it comes on is sopping wet with grease.
If you don't have those elements, you don't have authentic NY Pizza. -

Now I'm not one to give a lot of high ratings... but the pizza here at Uncle Vito's is the BOMB. It's actually the best pizza by the slice I've had here in Sacramento, to date. Mind you, I've only been here twice, so I've only had the Pizza. I do however love the fact that they have a great happy hour deal: a slice of one topping and a beer for $5.00. Can't beat that with a bat!
How I order my Pizza:
- Pesto
- Itallian Sausage
- Mushrooms
- Olives
The crust is thin and crunchy and they are never stingy w/ their fresh ingredients. The slice is huge too.
Cool fact: This place is owned the same people at Pronto and Paesano's.
The only reason they do not get a 5th star is that it's hotter than a MOFO in there and NO air conditioner. -

This place is the coooolest! It always seems to be open late, even on the week days. The slices are super big and the prices are low! The pizza doesn't taste as good as "Pieces" but I would still rather go here because it's also a bar.

Came here with the bf and some friends for the first time. I love the slice of pizza and beer special for $5. I hate how it was really crowded there! Pizza was huge and delicious though! I don't really drink so the bf drank my beer! I wanted soda and they didn't have that special.
Cool place eat when you're wasted and have only $5 to your name! -

Yum, yum, yum.
Vito's crust is thinner than I usually prefer, but it still won me over. Not so great service the first time I came here. They forgot about my order and it took over 30 minutes to get my one slice of mushroom pizza. My second and third visit went just fine though. Looking forward to the fourth. -

Uncle Vitos is the reason I started Yelping. As is common, knowbody goes out of their way to make a good review.
I hate that I love the food at Uncle Vito's because I royaly hate the wait staff here. I have never seen waitress who are as downright bitchy as those at Uncle Vito's. They are slow, they don't pay attention to customers, needs (I'm not needy, I just want food and a drink. This is a reastaurant right?)
Once the girls behind the counter stops talking to her friend, or flirting to hard wtth the guy at the bar, and actually gets to taking my order, the large slice of pizza comes out rather quickly, and is delicious. ***** for the food * for wait staff. -

The pizza is delicious, but I have never been treated so poorly by a bartender. I ended up catching her name from another employee so I'm putting her on blast: worst service ever Chandra (Shandra?).
I'll never go back. -

You know that saying that bad pizza is like bad sex, it's still pretty good? Well, that's not true on either count.
A group of friends and I had a late-night pizza craving and this was one of the few spots still serving (they get one star for that). So we picked up a couple of pizzas to go, a pepperoni and a combo. It was so disappointing. We ended up throwing most of it out. The biggest problem was that the cheese was not melted, but even if it was, I don't think that would have saved it for me. It was too much cheese, too much grease, meh sauce, and a flavorless crust. I've got to have a good-tasting crust.
They get the other star for having a decent bar. It's overcrowded for my taste, but seemed to have a good beer selection. I would be willing to go there again for a drink but I wouldn't seek it out.Listed in: What's All the Fuss About?, I Love Pizza like Ninja…

I love good pizza, cold beer and a deal. Uncle Vito's Slice of NY is all of that. The pizza has a nice light NYC crust with great toppings. The beer is varied in bottle and on tap and served COLD. They have a great pizza & salad deal for about $20 which is enough eats for four. Spend another $5 or so pp for beer and you can get out of there for just about $11 pp. That's a deal! They also have some flat screen tv, another big +.
Oh yeah, there's also the $5 buck slice and brewski deal!
UVito goes on my cheap eats and pizza lists. Yeah. -

Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
My only beef with Uncle Vito's is that every time I am headed home, starving after a solid gym session, it calls my name and tries to tempt me WAY too often.
Even though my first experience here was sub-par, considering they forgot my order and made me wait more than 30 minutes for a couple of slices of pizza, the food itself was worth it. The two times I've gone after the initial let-down have been much better, so Vito's has redeemed itself in that sense.
The pizza is seasoned well, the crust is perfectly crispy, not too greasy, and it always comes out FRESH. You can even see the guy making it right in front of you!
Considering the nature of this place, I always feel like it's a little more pricey than it should be, but when I'm hungry, I never have a problem with forking over the dough.
I don't know whether one would consider this a good/bad thing, but this place is always packed when I go. Usually it's a bunch of drunkies, but I've never had any problems. The women taking your order/bartending are generally swamped, but still are kind.
Also, parking can get a bit hairy at certain times--you may have to park a street over.
What can I say? I'll be coming back the next time I'm feeling like a fatty. -

Uncle Vito's is the bomb, especially when you are drunk! Parking can be a pain but it's definitely worth it. However, as I was sitting down about to enjoy my Blue Moon and slice of Pepperoni pizza the bartender bust out a SHAKE WEIGHT!!! Who does that? I'm sorry but this isn't the gym, where is the manager and why are they letting their bartender use a SHAKE WEIGHT while WORKING?! So unprofessional!.. for that reason i give them 2 stars!

Stockton, CA
So not really expecting a lot from this place, I stroll in mid-day and completely miss the happy hour. Sucks to be me! So I get the cheese pizza, glass of Newcastle, in a frosted mug,and settle in the back watching some NFL transactions on the ubiquitous high def TV.
The wedge was screaming hot, oily and yet surprisingly crispy. I must have looked like a fool trying to bite the tip of the folded wedge while it was still volcanic hot to scald the top of my mouth with molten cheese.
Dumb a--, let it cool down!
Still, after incurring the 3rd degree burn on the roof of the pie hole, I am happy to report that the crust was very good, the cheese was in good proportion, and the sauce was fresh and balanced without being too sweet or spicy.
Now the combo of Newcastle Brown, my mood, the return of Football for 2011, and the fact I'm still on summer break made all the difference.
Really should be 4 stars if I had hit the Happy Hour. Hopefully Uncle Vito will be happy with this review and not have to send over a couple of Goodfellas (Pesci, Deniro) over to break my legs! -

Sacramento, CA
This is the closest thing to traditional NY pizza that you will find in Sacramento. Thin crispy crust and lots of gooey cheese and flavorful toppings. And with a happy hour price of $5 for a beer and a slice, who can pass up such a great deal?
The real gem of this place though, are the employees. I'm a little partial to Haley (pretty girl that always has a smile on her face, even if she hates you :p), Josh (cutest & nicest door guy ever), Chara (if you miss her, you're blind, she is gorgeous) and Armando (who might be the friendliest pizza guy in the whole world), but everyone here is friendly. When they are around, I don't even need to bring company to have a great time! -
Review from Karen F.
Sacramento, CA
This place is good for so-so pizza and beer during HH because you can get a huge slice and any beer on tap (even Blue Moon!) for $5. Although, since the pizza is only worth about $1 a slice, it's not really THAT great a deal. My friends and I have occasionally enjoyed heading over and watching a baseball or football game. However, we went the other day and it was hotter inside than outside (and it was 100 outside)! It was so uncomfortable that we could not stay and had to go someplace else. They have a few fans blowing but come on. Sacramento in the summer you have to get your a/c up to par.
Also, the service in general is pretty lame, but not worth banning them over. When it cools down a bit I might be back if I'm in the neighborhood, certainly no place to go out of your way for. -

Erica C. below couldn't have said it any better but i'll put in my cents...
Just a quick note... You might notice a slight pizza fan bias because I'm what you would call a true pizza enthusiast. Since we got that out of that way, let's get on with the good stuff. Vito's pizza is typical in the best sense. Their dough is not great, pepperoni is not wholesome, but their simple package of crusty hot pizza awesomeness just works! So don't expect to indulge in a gourmet pizza at Vito's. 4 stars goes to the culmination of Vito's HH offering of pizza & beer for $5 along with the snazzy setup inside/out. This is one of the better pizza by the slice spots in Sac. -
Review from Rachel Z.
I'm a HUGE fan of Vitos. The pizza is the perfect size, flavorful and never disappoints.
The two times I've been here, I grabbed a beer, headed towards the back bench and enjoyed the Giants game. Torture? Maybe watching the Giants some nights, but eating a fatty slice at Vito's, NEVER. -

Hands-down - the BEST "NYC Style" Pizza in Sacramento!
Been going here past 2 yrs, and still has the notable "rubbery" cheese being pulled from each bite and the sauce is just right!
Ever since Giovanni's Pizzeria closed down in North natomas, we'll drive downtown for their pizza on a crave.
Grab a beer or drink to complement the slice!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Carl I.
Usually, I kill people for claiming New York on their pizza. Maybe it's the capture of Osama that's made me a little more easy going as an ex-NYer. Who knows.
I just know I enjoyed my slice and Newcastle from Uncle Vito's. I will be back during happy hour to enjoy a slice and beer for 5 bucks. This time though, I got a combo slice which consisted of olives, mushrooms, pepperoni and cheese I believe.
They had Pantera on the jukebox, and just about every song I could think of. I put on some metal, and started to head bang as I enjoyed my slice.
They had a bunch of different fries there, like garlic fries and some other exotic choices. I will be hitting that up at some point. With the cost and easy availability to good beer on tap, this may just become my favorite watering hole around here.
Ok, Uncle Vito. I guess you can live. -
Review from Alex L.
It wasn't quite a slice of New York, either in pizza or ambiance, but Uncle Vito's is a cut (or should I say slice) above many other pizza joints in the region.
You can't blame Vito for claiming his pies are similar to those made in New York, or what many consider to be the second greatest place for pizza outside of Italy. I sampled a couple bites off a friends slice and I have to admit they were tasty: not too much cheese or sauce, just the right amount of toppings. But what I cherished most about Vito's wasn't the food. It was the fine selection of beers at happy hour prices and the raucous crowd enjoying the Giants game on some fine big screen TVs. They even have a leg lamp (from The Christmas Story) on display! As Ralphie put it, "The Giants were the only thing that could pull me away from the soft glow of electric sex in the front window." While my group had some trouble finding a seat, we all agreed that this was a fine atmosphere to enjoy a little blue collar wind down.
If you're looking for authentic New York pizza, or a literal slice of the big apple, prepare to be disappointed. If you're looking for yet another great after work hangout, you've come to the right place.Listed in: True Yelper Badge!

I'm on the fence between 2 and 3 stars. I ordered a large Hawaiian pizza to go ($27). The pizza was gigantic. There was a good amount of toppings and the crust was super thin but not crispy. I don't know if it's because I took it to go or if it wasn't cooked long enough. Next time, I'll try a slice for dine in. Also, the prices at this location are higher than what is posted on their Sacramento/Davis website (eg $21.95 actual price for a cheese pizza, $16.99 posted on their online menu).

You haven't had bomb pizza until you've tried Uncle Vito's! The slices of pizza are huge and it costs less than $4 each! I love how the pizza is a thin crust pizza and yet the crust is still so crunchy! Each pizza comes individually boxed and served hot! I recommend trying the Pesto Pizza! So deeliciouss!
This is also a perfect little hang out spot to grab some beers with friends, or to satisfy your late night hunger. They have quite a few selection of beer on tap, and they're all priced reasonably.
Come during HH: For $5, you get a slice of pizza AND beer!! -

Good all you can eat pizza lunch. Fresh pizza slices are rare to find for all you can eat. Lots of flavor for pizza. Quality is exceptional. Pretty simple menu. Service can be a bit a lag because this place is busy during lunch. Overall I would come back. Place is good for lunch for sure.

The Good ---
- cheap pizza and beer during happy hour, ONLY $5!!
- big slice of pizza.
- hot, fresh pizza.
- good place to grab a bite during late nights.
The Bad ---
- always crowded and not enough seats.
- pizza is more on the oily side (but nonetheless STILL good).
- I'll be gaining tons of calories here.... -

Whoa! I was really caught off guard by this place.
It's set up like a pub, which is sort of cool, but it led me to expect bar pizza. That was not the case. As I sank my teeth into the softest pizza in Sacramento, well that I've tried anyways, I savored the wonderful taste. I enjoyed a canadian bacon/sausage slice and a combination slice, while my girlfriend had a margherita slice and all were a pleasant surprise.
The ginormous tv is a nice touch too. And it's great that they have Stella on tap. I think I've found a new place to watch my sporting events.
Good luck finding somewhere to sit, though.Listed in: Pizza Pizza!
